The room was dated and the tub ceramic was peeling. Breakfast was basically a Continental buffet, something most hotels would give for free, but there was a waiter. I'm guessing this hotel is on the more expensive side because of the location near the marina and because of the exterior renovations, not because of the room quality.

Not the nicest hotel i stayed in, and the view was pretrt poor for payong extra for. Recommend just paying for a normal room and going outside dor the view. It's an okay place, but not worth the money.

I will never stay in a Hilton again after this experience. The one star I give is for a deep bathtub and comfortable bed, or else it would get 0 stars.

1 - They charged a previously undisclosed $30 a day plus tax for parking. For my stay this was $100 extra not planned for in my budget - thus I was unable to do the things I had planned to do on my trip because of the unexpected expense. I stay at hotels almost every weekend and have never had to pay for parking above and beyond my hotel price before. Nor will I again.

2 - They put me in a room as far from the lobby as possible. This would not be a problem, except that their luggage carts are in the lobby, in this case 2/5ths of a mile from my room, making me walk nearly a mile (to the lobby and back) just to get a luggage cart to bring my things into the room. When a hotel has multiple buildings over a large area of land, they should have carts available near each entrance.

3 - The first room key stopped working the first day. The second room key stopped working by the second day. The third room key never worked at all. The fourth room key worked. I was only there for 3 days. They said "Don't put the room key near your cell phone", but I keep my cell phone in the opposite pocket than the room key, and did not place the room key near anything electronic at all.

4 - When I first discovered the extra parking charge, I attempted to cancel the room. They agreed to verbally, but when my booking company asked for the on duty manager to confirm that he was canceling my reservation, he refused. I ended up staying because without his confirmation, I could not get a refund, so I would be wasting $300 for the canceled stay instead of $100 for parking by staying. So I ended up staying, very unhappy with the management.

5 - The parking lot was full of cracks and potholes and as unkept as the extremely bumpy road that leads to the hotel.

I will never stay at a Hilton again.

This hotel was very nice. It had a good size indoor pool. The room were clean. The front desk people were very nice and helpful. The little coffee place they have is nice and made good coffee.

If you like sleeping, don't come here! Next door parties kept me up the entire night. I texted front desk and security came but it was 7am by the time I tried to sleep. Then at 9am they had tree trimmers sawing limbs outside my window! They allowed me an extra hour to check out, but my birthday was already ruined. Starting my day with zero sleep, not cool. They should have comped me the room! Update : response by management appreciated however, my birthday was ruined so unless they credit back money or offer a free night voucher I'm not happy and will tell anyone who asks.

I wasn't expecting an early check in but they took care of me and upgraded me to a Bay View room that is incredibly nice. The room was spacious and clean as a whistle. The service is great too!

We were on the third floor and it was quiet.

The hotel as a whole was super nice, and I have nothing but nice things to say about the amenities and staff. Location was great, right at the marina. The only real downside was that the building structures were a little confusing to navigate.

The room we had could use some upgrades, but I m giving a 4 star because we had a room with a balcony view overlooking the marina which was refreshing. There are paved trails all around the property and beyond, which lead you to some amazing views of San Francisco. You just need to get out and walk!!! It gets breezy and can get cold. There are many place on the property inside and outdoors, which offers a quiet place to sit and have a cocktail, read and relax. There are some delicious local eats right up the street in town, so venture out unless you just feel like you have to eat onsite. I would definitely recommend going into town for a hearty breakfast. And let me not forget, at check in we were treated with large individually wrapped warm chocolate chip cookies and don t be shy for asking for another during your stay, the hosts are happy to oblige. I will definitely go back to this property for a quick get away from Sacramento, when I need a quick coastal air fix!

The room was over priced do what you get. I have stayed at value hotels where the rooms are better. It was clean but there were several minor issues with the room that should have been addressed. For example the toilet paper was falling off the wall and was crooked. Plus you had to pay $20 to park over night. While this location is much to a pretty nice park, less than a mile a way you have several homeless people living it in the open with trash all over the place. Simple this place is just over priced and I would not recommend.

Rooms are clean and a harbor view is great if you can get it. You have to drive through a homeless camp to get there then pay to park in the gated area to keep your car safe. It's not the hotels fault that it is located in a terrible city that promotes drug abuse and homelessness as a preferred way of life. It's close to golden gate fields so we stay once a year. Unfortunately we don't feel safe anywhere near the hotel. They capitalize on this and charge way too much at the bar and restaurant, they no no one will go outside the grounds.

Great rooms and view. The customer service was horrible. They had me on hold for 7 minutes before I hung up and called back. No cookies upon check in. The vending machine was broken too.

The first time I visited this location I was part of a larger group that wasn't well organized. Now that I'm visiting solo, I am finding the hotel to be quite nice. I have a parking lot view, but I can see the water because I'm high enough. I'm glad I've found my regular hotel for Berkeley stays.

Typical Business hotel room, Bar/Restaurant is average, pretty long hike to room based on size of complex, not much near the hotel, undergoing renovation in certain floors/buildings. No major complaints, nothing to write home about

Nice..

Note: 'm rating the Double Tree as an event venue vs. for lodging.

I've always passed the Double Tree when I go to the Berkeley Marina and dismissed it as some outdated hotel. I attended a wine tasting event here and was pleasantly surprised at the handsome wood furnishings inside as well as the beautiful view of the Marina and the Bay from the pool, patio and restaurant.

The wine event sprawled across 3 rooms and I can see why small to mid-sized organizations would want to host their retreat or seminars here. If I didn't live so close by, I might treat myself to a stay here.

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!!!!!!

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!!!!!!
" NON SMOKING " BUT THE WHOLE HALL WAY SMELLED LIKE CIGARETTE AND MARIJUANA!!!!! " LOW BATTERY ON DOOR LOCK" WAITED 15 MIN TO GET IN MY ROOM!!!!!

Terrible noise from guests at 2am to 3am on a Saturday night. Hotel management sent security, but it did nothing to remedy the situation. Poorly managed facility. I guess this is what I get for staying at a budget "hotel".

The hotel is fine. Customers service very poor. Made a reservation and then cancelled literally 5 minutes later, but they still kept our deposit...so they just stole $150 for a 5 min error. Thanks Double Tree...you really go above and beyond...

The rooms were clean and comfortable. The bed was amazing, some of the best sleep I've gotten in a while. The breakfast was pretty good and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The fitness center had a multi-use machine, medicine balls, free weights, and a couple treadmills/ellipticals. Overall a nice hotel without too much frills.

Location is nice but secluded. You will have to drive or ride down University to get to food and entertainment. Walking around the water is easy and well lit. The hotel is a little dated but they seem to be doing construction to update themselves.

I'll never EVER and I mean NEVER return to this location. This was by far one of the worse stay in my life. BEDS very uncomfortable, pillows have No Fluff. Checked in at 4, was placed in a room with NO heat, expected to wait for maintenance to fix, after a long day of work. After being told it couldn't be fixed, they moved me to another room with the same exact problem. So now maintenance is back.ij the room fixing the problem. I walk down stairs to was a load, place the clothes in the dryer is doesn't work, elevators didn't work, hallways reeked of wet carpet the stay was terrible. Reserved room that said view of marina, go on patio nothing to really look at other than some broke down boats. Not to mention the loud train that rolls through. Needless to say of your looking for a relaxed place to stay Make this your last cholce. I'll never return.
