The Marina is beautiful with lots of opportunities to get out and walk around the park. The facilities are fairly well kept although we always seem to visit during periods of construction or renovation. Helpful and friendly staff.

The hotel is getting old. Location, not very well located for sightseeing as with car very often traffic jam. With public transport feasible, but 1 hour of time must be planned into the city and not very cheap ....

Nice room with a view. Restaurant food was good, but pricey. Why is it that the pricier the hotel is the fewer complimentary amenities there are? Parking on-site is $$. Value chains have much better complimentary coffee and some breakfast food.

A beautiful property but had terrible experience with the rooms. The air condition did not work for both nights of our stay and moreover the hotel staff did nothing until we complained for fourth time.

Location is beautiful and interaction with hotel staff was all excellent. A couple complaints:
-Place seemed poorly maintained, and there were letters missing on some door signs in various entrances. The whole place looked uncared for. Shower control valve was installed upside down, for example.
-Marina breakfast buffet was nice, and so was the service, but at the end our server wrote in his own 18% tip on our bill before handing it to us. I've never had that happen to me before, and it's interesting because I'd initially considered paying a higher tip. It's possible there's a mandatory gratuity for a group of 6, but no one ever said anything, so it left a bad taste in our mouth after a good meal.

DoubleTree gets an extra star for the setting in the marina opposite the Golden Gate, and the fact that a lot of the rooms have sliding patio doors and access to the outside. The restaurant is okay, a bit pricey. There are meeting rooms and facilities, but the proximity to the kitchen is an issue due to noise. Staff is friendly, there is a van to help shuttle guests around and a small gift shop.

The views are nice enough and the staff are friendly, but for the price and association with Hilton, I'd expect the property to be better maintained. While it wasn't in disrepair, per se, it definitely could use some paint & other upgrades in the rooms and there was a strange scent in the hallways as well... Not sure if it was supposed to be some type of scented room deodorizer or what, but it wasn't good. Overall a nice place with decent views though.

Not a 4-Star by any means. This is a great location, but the room was nothing special, the restaurant is overpriced and the food is not good. The only thing this hotel has going for it, is the hotel staff. They were all super friendly and courteous and quick to respond to requests.
If you stay here, do not eat here. Take a walk or drive down to Skates on the Bay and eat there. Same prices, but the difference is the quality of the food.
I was very disappointed with this hotel.

Scotsdale property. Started great, terrible wifi, told us to pay and wouldn't get charged, did get charged, ants in bed, moved to a lesser room with deathtrap shower and no hot water, starting to rethink DoubleTree.

I'm Hilton diamond so I see a good range of Hilton hotels. This one is down the worst paved roads. Is set up like a resort but has horrid lighting, broken walkways, and just drab rooms. Won't stay here again

A bit dated, but there is ongoing work for new improvements which shows they care about the property and want to improve it. Wi-Fi has significantly improved since my last visit. Very nice restuarant. Will stay here again.

Would have given more stars, but there was construction going on, making things inconvenient, like extremely loud banging and sawing during breakfast and no Sundry to get incidentals or small snacks. Also, the roads to get in and out of the Marina are in desperate need of repair.

The food at the restaurant is ridiculously overpriced for the quality of it. A bowl of plain tomato soup and grilled chicken caesar salad with old, hard, unedible garlic bread cost almost $40 after tipping. The salad didn't even come with croutons. They definitely understand that there isn't anything more convenient around and they take full advantage of it.

3 nights of my 4 night stay cost over $271 PER NIGHT for a regular, non-view room. My entire stay including food was well over $1100. I may have been a bit more forgiving with my review if my stay would have been half that price, or if I had a great view (mine was just the courtyard), or if I would have been offered a complimentary breakfast or glass of wine for the troubles, but nothing except the free cookie they give everyone and access to the Hilton Honors Lounge, which looked messy everytime I went in for a water.

On the plus, everyone on the staff was really pleasant and wonderful, from the people at the front entrance, to the front desk staff and housekeeping.

I'm sure the hotel wouldn't risk exposing guests to construction inconveniences if it weren't absolutely necessary and for something better in the future.

If I ever came back to the area, I would take my chances at a different place.

Pros: Beautiful scenery! Great view. Facilities are great. Patio was awesome. Staff is great. Cons: building 1 smells kinda funny. Couple bugs in our room when we arrived. Could have been hitchhikers though.

Great hotel! Room was clean and comfortable. Service was friendly. Pool and hot tub were relaxing. Breakfast buffet (complimentary with our rate) was satisfying. My single complaint is double bed room are double beds. My rating would be 5 stars if it was a double queen.

The location on the marina, with views of San Francisco, is great. There's a free shuttle to the Berkeley campus. Considering hotel rates in Berkeley, this is a great value. Also, staying close to campus has certain drawbacks, including much more noise. If you're inclined to jog, this is the BEST place to stay!

Nice location once you get passed the tent city and over the rocky road. Grounds are nice and rooms are ok, expensive for what it was but they were busy and it is the "Bay area". I'll prob airbnb next time

The DoubleTree by Hilton Berkeley Marina, California is a great hotel in a fantastic location.

What makes it great are the amazing staff and service. My wife had to book through Expedia and the fact that we had our dog with us was not conveyed from Expedia to the hotel. But they immediately found us a ground floor room that opened to a large green space.

The hotel also has a separate large cardio and weights fitness areas. And a beautiful pool.

The location is stellar: directly on the Berkeley Marina with panoramas of San Francisco in the background.

The hotel is also a five minute walk to Cesar Chavez park which is a 90-Acre Park with a massive off-leash area for dogs. We took our furry family there every day.

There is even a very cool Community Garden that you should check out too!

The front desk staff weren't very friendly or helpful. They told us that they wouldn't charge is for parking but didnt end up giving us a pass. We went back a few times to remedy the situation and nobody gave us a pass. It wasn't till checkout that we discovered the reason they didn't charge is was because we weren't authorized either. The bar and restaurant staff were amazing very helpful and friendly. The chief (or cook) came out to discuss things in the area that would be fun to do. Thanks Kimberly we had a lovely day with your recommendations.

These Guys didn't Keep My reserved room, because of a big group. So yeah, they made more money and set their reserved guest up with the hassle of moving twice on 2 days. Stay away from Hilton whenever you can.

Not particularly fancy, but it was clean and the staff was polite and friendly. Most of the hotel is pretty nice looking. The room just seemed rather average. Since my employer paid for the room, I can't say one way or the other if it was worth it.

Went to the buffet on Sunday morning at 7 am. When I showed up, there was a cook behind the omelette station and no one else to be found. I waited about 5 minutes and then finally someone came and proceeded to sit me down at a table. I told him I was there for a Bloody Mary, can I sit at the bar. He pointed me to a table and helped some other patrons out. After he was done with them, he came to me and asked if I would like some juice. I told him I wanted a drink at the bar, he said the bar's closed til 7...at this time it was 710. The manager was late, he was the only one with the key to the liquor cabinet. I left...sorry guys, if you have a Sunday brunch, at least have Mimosas and/or Bloody Mary's! Fail Hilton

It's slightly old and shabby, although it was very clean. The staff is very professional. Parking was quite expensive ($22. Self parking for a half day conference, more for valet). The location is pleasant and fairly accessible, but if I were an overnight guest, somewhere within walking distance of restaurants and shipping would be more convenient.

Place only has wifi in lobby
I stayed in motel 6's that had wifi its 2011 this unacceptable. Plus no cell service thru most of hotel through either att or sprint. So don't think your going to setup hot spot either. If your coming here to read books shut the rest of world i am sure its great but plan on getting any calls or work done

When I checked into my room four guys walked in, turns out the hotel gave them my room on accident. This was at 1 in the morning and myself along with the 3 others I was staying with were forced to wait out in the hallway for almost an hour. We just all crashed in someone elses room because of how long we were waiting, the hotels response was to try and kick out the people in that room and not just assign us a different room. Whats even worse is another person from our group found huge bedbugs.

Room was very clean and staff was exceptional. The only issue with this property is the physical layout of the buildings-it was slightly confusing layout and since I arrived late at night and was exhausted I found the task of trying to find my room slightly inconvenient (but not impossible by any means). Overal, it is a large property with a beautiful view and charming grounds with great amenities. I recommend this property highly.

First of all I have never been a part of a calamity of errors like the one I dealt with at Double Tree by Hilton Berkeley Marina . We where in town staying at the Berkeley Marina because my son had a state championship hockey game. My wife and I put the kids to sleep and sat out on the balcony talking when I notice a rodent running towards the bed at 10 PM . My wife looked under the bed and screamed waking the kids. There where multiple rodents in our room and we have a video and pictures to prove it. My kids where freaked out and I could not get them off the bed to get out of the room. We called the front desk and they said they would send help but right now they are short staff. 2 more phone calls and 45 minutes later they finally moved us but not before we watched the rodents climb in and out of our suitcase and shoes. It was after 1045 PM when they moved us to a room that was nowhere near as nice as the one we had but it didn't have rodents so that was a plus. Nobody was able to sleep I should have packed up the car and left. The next day I complained to the food and beverage manager and he promised to have the Hotel manager call us and resolve this issue to our satisfaction. The manager never called. He claims he did but we have no voice mails or missed calls on our phones. Several days went by and nothing I filed a formal complaint to Hilton they said they would call in 72 hours but they didn't they sent an email stating the Berkeley Marina hotel gave us back 40,000 points. Very nice of him since I paid 47,000 points for the room. It gets better I file another formal complained the lady gives me 10,000 points to make up what the Hotel failed to give me. They also gave me an additional 30,000 points which are nothing compared to what we went through. The lady then tells me she will have someone call me within 72 hours and it's been 6 day's and no phone call returned. All I wanted was someone to call me and apologize. Apologizing in an email is very unprofessional to me. We are Hilton Honor members questioning whether we should continue to be HH members. We where not treated with respect and we are extremely Unsatisfied with Hilton. I will not reward them back with my loyalty. Why would I want to use the Hilton chain after this incident? Perhaps for their complementary Rodents.
