Double Tree by Hilton Berkeley Marina Review

Overpriced for what you get , outdated rooms that are semi clean..homeless encamped near the entrance of the hotel

Extremely dog friendly. Dog park across the street. Shawn got us a marina view after hotels.com goofed. Tanzania went over and above to find us a king sized bed, which she did. Everything was perfect. Staff is excellent. Just remember that during Covid you do not get pool access. No room service. Everything is limited :-(

Our room was clean, but I think I got stoned walking through the halls because of all the weed we could smell. I guess 'no smoking' doesn't apply to pot.
Expect to pay for everything. No complimentary breakfast and $30 a day for parking.
We had the worst service we've ever experienced in the hotel restaurant. Customers were having to go get their coffee and water.
Even the road to hotel was messed up. I've driven on smoother dirt roads.

The service was great, the rooms were clean and very comfortable. The beds were nice, and the food was good. The gym and pools were great actually. I would definitely go again!

Nice, clean room in a very scenic setting by the marina. Only downside is that it's pretty far from other cool cool stuff in Berkeley... But they do have a free shuttle!

The hotel is next to a marina or marina, but the area is quite dirty. I would have preferred the beds to be a little bigger.

A very beautiful and scenic location overlooking a harbor. The staff was friendly and quite helpful, but the rooms were a little unkepmt. Not super noticeable though.

Nice quiet place to stay. The area is very peaceful and by the bay.
My only issue is if you are placed in building 3 or 4 you have to walk a mile to your room and may be a room with a parking lot view.
The hotel has a restaurant and if you are willing to walk around not far away is Skates by the bay a wonderful restaurant.

Picked up phkne and was knowledgable a few days beforehand.
Loved the shower and toiletries, a nifty suprise.

It is moreso a higher end 3 star hotel.
Which is nice suprise for those who don't mind.
So sorry inner budject minded peeps.
Good deals do pop up so keep an eye out for when they happen.

Only downside/bugbear is parking (overnight paid, no free parking) but you can park out of hotel where you would if you would go on the trails, if you are just gonna drop off bags n check in and have fun in town Before turning in for the night.
Getting take out was easy.

A 1 day pass would be cool so you could drive in drop off bags.
I would pay upfront for one, if one existed i didnt see it or was absent minded/will get next time.

This place was great. Stayed here two nights and has been the most relaxing part of our trip. The beds are super comfortable, very quiet, great service, very close to UC Berkeley, BART stations, and just 10 minutes from SF by car. If you want to be near the hustle and bustle of Berkeley and San Francisco but without the traffic and hordes then this is the place to stay. Near everything and reasonably priced. You truly do get what you paid for. Will stay here again for sure. The girl in the front desk Tahamira, was very nice and extremely helpful.

Property is clean, service is very good. Housekeeping does a great job. Front desk people are friendly and helpful. The buildings looks a little dated to me, the front is mostly parking so not much can be done there, the Marina side. Self parking is $26 a day in an nearly empty lot in January. But I guess that's the area.

Rooms were nice with high ceilings. Lind of smelled in the hall way though. Over all a good experience

Was a wonderful stay with great walking areas. Super clean and quiet.
No complaints. Easy access of the highway. Room was perfect for this tired old fisherman

We got a great and last minute discounted price by shopping online. This was a sprawling property in a unique location.

POTENTIAL BLACK MOLD & Horrible customer service!!! ROOM 2103. After informing Sean (manager) about the loud noise and water leaking from my bathroom ceiling..he refused to reimburse me for my two night stay. He offered to move me to another room, send an engineer to look at the leak, and leave a message for the general manager (requesting an approval for reimbursement). I told him I did not want to be moved nor did I want a message passed to his manager. (He had told the person he was helping before me he was going to be off for the next two days). Why should I be inconvenienced physically and financially.

The hotel is outside of Berkeley, but you have a nice view of the ocean - if you have the right room.

Typical hotel. Wanted us to pay for a place to sleep. As if.

The worst experience i ever had! I booked this place with our rewards points after they told us it was a marina view room! Manager didnt even care that we were not happy didnt even offer us an upgrade. They gave us the worst room next to a loud elevador that we didnt even sleep the 2 nights we were there! And dont expect a free breakfast here u have to pay $20. We Came here for our anniversary and the only thing that was great was our photoshoot we got to take here!

I'm sure at one time 25 years ago this was a top notch hotel. Long past it's prime now.

I have stayed at the Double Tree down by Berkeley's Marina 5 years ago. I was very impressed with it. The rooms are fancy and spacious. I loved the views of the water. I highly recommend this place.

Love this place. Best place for the money. The view from ocean front rooms is Bay Bridge, San Francisco, and Golden Gate in a half circle. Then; you have some excellent restaurants right in the vicinity Skates on the Bay seafood and steaks, Spenger's seafood and steaks, including the hotel lobby restaurant which is always wonderful with an excellent View, and much more!

The room was very nice clean with a comfy bed. The food breakfast was good but expensive. Elevator was very sketchy.

Great location...close to Berkeley, but with a hreat view of the watrr and right next to Cesar Chavez Park.

Nice hotel, great customer service, overall great. Minor issue my shower's knob was reversed, hot gave cold water and visa versa, I didnt realize this and just took a cold shower

Ive stayed in every variant of hilton there is and throughout the US. The location and outside view are the really only saving factors to this hotel. I just came from a Hampton Inn in Fresno and it was much nicer. Pool ehhh....you better hope nobody else is in the hot tub unless you wanna snuggle up. Rooms need work, they have updated features but arent anything special. The hallways look like a college dorm and that struck me as odd considering the price and people they are trying to attract to this hotel. Just giving my two cents since Im staying here as i write this

There were infrastructure issues during my stay that were not resolved.

Horrible experience, I was left with a mystery charge on my credit card, they charge 20 bucks just to park, and the place is crowded and dirty. This is just the beginning. I won't bother going into too much detail. However, we will never stay here again.

Clean rooms and free budders breakfast for Hilton Honors members. Parking steep at $18. But over all a good place.

So nice and enjoyable! Perks: the path around the hotel and marina is great for photos, good exercise room, and super friendly + helpful housekeeping staff. Good secret perks: the delicious cookies they hold at the front desk around the clock (ask for them), and the hilton honors room (key access) - coffee machine! But the best part i enjoyed was the free shuttle to berkeley! Take that to go eat and shop and walk around! I love the shuttle drivers! The best! Especially Adam! Dont forget to tip them! Super enjoyable stay!

Had a family outing and had dinner at the Bar and grill, excellent cocktails and one of the best clam chowder. Hotel staff was friendly, and the grounds were clean.

Everything was great about our stay. The room was a bit small, but it was clean and quiet.

The rooms have heavy disinfectant smell. My room smelled like cigarettes on top of that. The carpets are dirty inside the room and in the hallway. Everything looks old and out of date. For the money, it is a terrible place to stay. Their 72 hour cancellation policy made impossible to cancel and stay elsewhere

The room was comfortable, but the doors were poorly fit or something so that one had to throw one's entire weight against the door to open it

Hotel is nice. They charge $20 for self parking. It's right outside SF.

The staff were very helpful and friendly and the bed was comfortable. The neighbourhood was quite isolated apart from the gas station right next door. It was very noisy during the night, but I was with two others and the other occupants of the hotel were friendly to us as we were to them. Once the breakfast bar was restocked,...

Beautiful place, clean and quiet. I can't give them 5 stars because they never mentioned the additional $18/day for parking.

If you are not "WHITE " don't go here if you don't trust me then come here.

Room was not in very good shape. The bathtub was peeling and the paint in the bathroom was cracked and starting to peel. But the worst was our door would not shut! It drove us crazy as we had to slam it to get it to stay shut.

For the cost, it's a good place. My room was really nice, but other rooms in my group were not so much. Decent location, but you have to drive into Berkeley. Nice views of the bay. The road to the hotel is HORRENDOUS. Literally brace yourself.

Disappointed this hotel couldn't give at least a credit for a sick co-worker unable to travel. Nine hours past the cancellation deadline doesn't mean much. Your "very strict policy" definitely lost my and my company's business.

Service is decent, I attended an event here and wouldn't go as far as to say service was satisfactory. Location is good but ruined by the level of service

Hilton is not Hilton anymore. Super8 is better. This place was VERY BAD. Bad customer service, no internet and a huge truck that drained the toilets was working outside my room since early in the morning. Not possible to relax, not possible to work. Also, when I checked in the lady forgot to tell me about the 30$ parking fee that I found on my receipt.

We've stayed at this location numerous times, and it's been a great experience every time. The marina location is extremely scenic, and the rooms are nice.

What a beautiful view. The hotel is a bit dated and the a.c. sounds like a jet engine but the room is nice and beds are comfortable. Staff is great as well.

Room was great, great location, away from hustle and bustle of the city and right on the water. Access road to the hotel was awful though.

Nice place if you can afford it. Breakfast buffet recommended. pub grub in the pm. If you can, pull the trigger on a Hornblower bay dinner cruise. SF waterline after dark and the bridges most memorable!
