Very interesting archaeological site. Price: 12 Euro (ticket without discount). Definitely worth seeing. It is a whole ancient city whose streets you can stroll through, not just a pile of stones like many in Greece. It is worth taking a supply of water and sun protection - there are not many places with shade. You don't need any special condition, but walking in full sun uphill can get tired. The views from the hill are beautiful, it's worth reaching the top.

There are few local shields, so visitors are advised to take good sun protection measures!

Mycenae (Ancient Greek: , Modern Greek: ) is an Aegean civilization ruins on the plain of Argos, northeast of the Peloponnesian peninsula, Greece. It was the epic legend of Homer, the capital of the Achaeans, built by Perseus and ruled by Agamemnon during the Trojan War.

This city, once thought to be a fictional city, was re-excavated by German archeologist Heinrich Schlimann in the nineteenth century to regain its sight.

In fact, in the second millennium BC, it was indeed the most important city in Greek civilization. It ruled a large area in the south of the Aegean Sea. The civilization it represented was called the Mycenae civilization.

Prior to the classical Greek period, the city had been damaged by the (possibly) Dorian invasion. Its palace was abandoned in the 12th century BC. The Argosian army occupied the place in 468 BC and expelled its residents. Mycenae The city has since been destroyed.

In the classical period, the traveler Pausanias visited the site and records monuments such as the Lion Gate that still stand today.

UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999.

Really worth a visit. The burial chamber is quite something and makes up for everything else. Very cool. Considering that this was built thousands of years ago makes everything else look like "amateur hour".

Nice

Wonderful ruins and museum, definetly worth visiting. Local guide strongly recommended. A walking stick may be useful for some people, as not all passages have safety railings, which, together with marble floor and humidity, may result in a sprained ankle.

Interesting place, with two areas, one the citadel itself and the emblematic lion gate and another 500 meters away with the tomb of atreos.
A small museum introduces you to the Mycenaean culture.
They do not accept discounts with a university or teacher card.

This is a gorgeous site. You have the opportunity to walk through the site, which gives you a sense of what it must have been like centuries ago. Unlike other sites, such as the Parthenon, this site is not only older, but much more accessible. Don't forget to visit the tombs as well.

Lion's Gate is a must-see architectural monument for everyone. There are many reasons and grounds for this, if there are people who do not know them, then you should accept, as an axiom, look and think. Plus a well-made modern museum with ramps and, alas, a broken wheelchair for people with disabilities. Don't miss the "Treasury of Atreus"
