Breathtaking! Acted as a gateway for true wisdom from the east, notably India
It is impressive considering that the whole area is about 3000 years old. The entrance fee is 12 per person. It is a spacious area and sturdy shoes are recommended. Some parts are very well preserved, such as the Lion Gate and the tomb. Do not forget drinks because it can get very hot and it goes uphill steeply. The ole "juice shop" in the parking lot is not recommended. Far too expensive and only for the unprepared tourists. There is no snack.
A place loaded with history, well arranged and restored. I recommend visiting this objective along with a guide for a better understanding of things or previous documentation.
Very interesting and imposing. What we missed are benches to stay.
I recommend climbing to the top, where there is a wonderful panorama of the surrounding area
Very nice archaeological site with modern museum !!
Place full of charm. Who hasn't studied Mycenaean art?
As a lover of Greek culture and history, this place touches the soul. Loved walking in the steps of the ancients and visiting the museum. Very inspiring. May be a little bit of a drive as there is not much near the town of Mycenae, but definitely worth the visit if you have the time.
If you have the chance, Mycenae should not be missed.
This is an astounding site. Comparing this era to neighboring Roman ruins helps highlight the historic influence of the paniinsula.
Astonishing! Architecture with huge stones! Rare in Greece.
The ruins are not much appreciated except for the door of the lions
Wonderful, took a day tour from Athens. Great views.
Although the foundations and mainly the outlines of the rooms have survived from the entire Mycenaean citadel complex, it is worth spending half a day admiring the hills surrounding the fortress from the perspective of the fortress, admiring the view of the lion's gate or the tomb of the lion. A treat for lovers of history and art. The exhibits and audio-guide preserved in a nearby museum help to feel the atmosphere of ancient times.
Live history... a place that every European should visit once
Beautiful place. Awesome view. Worth a visit. (Although Greeks should have free admission every day)
Unmissable megalithic magic. The ruins are very exposed on the hilltop, so bring water and sunscreen on a sunny day.
My expectations were different. I was almost disappointed, how small and insignificant the village is! However, it is beautiful place, historically important and you should see it, when in Greece.
Do not forget to choose for your visit a day that does not have a holiday ... Everything is closed !!!
Just one star not for the place, wich is magnificent, but for people of the ministry of culture who are too lazy to make themselves the change on gmap to indicate that the opening hours are not 8AM to 8PM this summer but 5PM to 8PM. I learned it when I came at 2PM yesterday, and sent to google suggestion of the right opening hours, maybe it won't appear yet when you will read this but trut me
Exceptional. The Archaeological Museum is obligatory to visit.
Archaeological site to discover, many explanations and important site. Allow a visit of more than 1 hour. Free for children. Small car park, difficult to find a place but possibility to park along the road
Beautiful historical site dating from ancient Greece (Mycenaean period).
History and legend. An exciting journey into the cradle of western culture.
Awesome history, really activated your imagination.
Mycenae, definitely a must-visit place. The ancient "golden" city with the famous Lion's Gate. The city of King Agamemnon, commander in chief of the Greek army, made up of many cities, that went against Troy. Mycenae has a very important place in history. In addition, a visit to the treasury of Atreus and a museum visit is included in the ticket. Both very interesting. The museum displays an incredible amount of artifacts from Mycenaean history, including a copy of Atreus' death mask. Well worth it. In addition, a visit to the treasury of Atreus is also definitely worthwhile. If you are in the Peloponesos you should not miss this !!
Amazing findings !!
Congratulations on trying it all.
Very nice
Pure antiquity
Very well maintained and clean
Is worth the trip
Students and children free, take ID card
Immersed in the countryside, it offers the visitor all its grandeur, it is a megalithic work, well preserved despite the looting, not far from the tomb attributed to Agamemnon
The opportunity to see the remains of a great civilization. You should also see the Archeology Museum in Athens where most of the artifacts discovered are exhibited.
It is one of the oldest cities in the world, it is worth the visit
Looks solid enough to climb it, but info and museum is pretty average. View is great though
If you have read Homer, you can imagine evenings in front of the fire in the royal hall the poets sing the deeds of the heroes.
The birthplace of the Mycenaean civilization. Interesting to see the wall that was built by the cyclops according to the legend.
Impressive ancient citadel , huge fortified walls surrounds the hill, has a small museum. The entrance fee is 12
Amazing bronze age archeological site. Don't forget to visit the tomb of Clytemnestra at the base of the site (I noticed many visitors missed it completely). If you have time also visit the Treasury of Atreus which is at a separate site down the hill. The citadel itself is very impressive from a distance and the iconic gates are a wonder.
Site is very easy to get to, with a large parking lot across the road from the site. Don't forget to see the incredible Mycanean objects found at the site (including the Mask of Agamemnon) at the National Archeological Museum in Athens.
Fantastic historic center where you can appreciate the rocky promontory.
Unmissable monumental complex. To be associated with the National Archaeological Museum of Athens where most of the finds from Mycenae are present
It is an archaeological site located in the Peloponnese, very close to other important archaeological sites such as Tirinta and the ancient theater of Epidaurus and cities known as Nafplio. One thing that many do not know is that around Mycenae there are other archaeological sites much less known but equally very beautiful and interesting to visit such as Ireo and ancient Nemea.
The Mycenae site consists of three key points to visit. A large tolo tomb that remains isolated from the rest of the site, the museum and the central site of Mycenae. My advice is to visit the tomb in order of arrival, then the museum and then the central site. The museum displays important artefacts of terracotta, bronze and copies of the finds in gold including the famous Mask of Agamemnon. It is accessed with a single ticket and in some cases admission is free.
I strongly recommend visiting this site.
Little remains of Miken ... But the views are beautiful!
A lot of history to tell, the state of conservation very destroyed.
A great treasure of our culture! We wish to honor and care to visit them more often ... What history does this land have in Greece?
3000 years old, solid walls. Really impressive! Nice foto spots .. And interesting museum.
What Ancient Olympia? There is only one custom, here you see the bloom of whole civilization !!
I was bored from the fact that little can be seen and touched. You need to imagine more yourself. There is no guide in Russian or Ukrainian.
The price of 12 euros is exaggerated three times.
I do not recommend. In Greece, a lot of places where it is possible with a more efficient way to spend them.
Grand site, there is a lack of help for the less well-off to access as disabled people
Place of archaeological excavations of the city of Mycenae. recommend
Wonderful archaeological site. Easily accessible from the highway. Scenic location.
Museum was nice, remnants of buildings moderate. Price / performance: too expensive
Mycenae was one of the most important cities in Greece in the pre-classical period; in European cultural history it is the successor to the Minoan culture on Crete; The Mycenaean culture and period were named after More
Place that deserves a visit ... admission 12 per adult and 4 boys.
Although there are 38 degrees pleasant the view for ventilation ...
Beautiful archaeological museum, which can be visited with an audio guide included in the ticket price!
Few indications along the way ... toilets present ...
At least once in a lifetime ..... I recommend ... Breathtaking views and a blast from the past!
A very small museum but a good lay out. The directions on the outside of displays were not very good.
A positive surprise! It's worth going to the top. Amazing views. It is worth supporting yourself with the news from the guide, which helps to imagine the "golden" Mycenae
Absolutely worth a visit. The museum is very informative and the excavations are very interesting
Definitely visit in the morning from 8:00 a.m. Otherwise it is too warm in summer.
The story is alive!
