A must go place for who loves history and ancient Greece
My wife and I came to Greece on the last day of our ten-day tour. We admired the ancient civilization of this country very much and marveled at the changes in the vicissitudes of life. Most civilizations are destroyed in wars. I hope that mankind will not have wars again!
Fantastic. Also don't forget to descend to the source and the treasure room back on the road
Even though it is one among many, it is always good to see historic sites of such importance to humanity.
Nice museum, impressive landscape, attention to the heat!
The best Atreu's grave. The citadel is very ruined, except for a couple of doors the rest is ruins. The well is worth seeing, it is intact but without light
Little to see. Very ancient ruins. Attention to the great heat in the central hours of the day
Part of every Peloponnese tour. Here too high entrance fees (for pensioners with ID large discount)
One of the best beaches in the Peloponnese! Well deserved.
Extremely preserved site with a museum of contents.
The place just breathes history. Required to visit. The magnitude of the city built almost 4 millenniums ago is striking.
In the summer, it's best to visit as much as possible in the morning because the place is open almost without a shadow. There is a good museum.
Very interesting site, and a useful addition to understanding bronze age history. A good contrast to the sites of classical Greece
Very interesting archeological site. Three amazing tombs, famous entrance with the lions, ruins of the palace, round shape praying place, all with great architecture. This place was the background for Homers to write about the Greek Mythology.
A path for wheelchairs along the whole site. Better to walk with shoes and hat.
It is advices to see the museum first - going straight and left from the entrance. It takes about 2 hour to cover the whole site, bring water with you.
Half price for students.
Lots of history. Get crazy information at the museum instead. It is advisable to start with the museum and then mount it. Will look much stronger. There are lots of (!!!) items in the museum from 3,500 years ago!
Of the places that one must certainly go once.
Every first Sunday of the month is free (as in all archaeological sites)
It is a very beautiful site. The rate is a little high 12 / adult. It is advisable to learn about Mycenes and its people to take full advantage of this place.
We where there and it looked actually quite cool ,but sadly it already closes at 3pm.
Your space is awe-inspiring. The museum is amazing.
Excellent condition and superb views. Not always well written signs but informative enough.
Fascinating place to visit. Tragic that it was abandoned for so long. Great museum.
To devote at least half a day and visit the museum too: very interesting.
The remains of a city halfway between historical reality and myth, a fantastic place that takes you back over the centuries to the events narrated by Homer.
Amazing archaeological site, rare World Heritage Site! The museum is very well groomed and the staff are knowledgeable
Agamemnon's tomb, the Lion Gate and the Cyclops walls are the tourist attractions of this place. There is also a museum with a golden death mask of Agamemnon.
Beautiful archaeological site with a beautiful view of the landscape.
The museum is interestingly developed and is very informative.
Definitely worth a visit.
a very interesting place of history. But also a wonderful nature experience. Conditionally accessible for the disabled. Too bad that the text panels are not explained in German.
Historical and mythological place, gate of the lions, excavations of 1600 bc
This place of origin of European culture is extraordinary!
The site is great, even beautiful. At the height of Unesco.
Strong points:
Like many places in Greece, incredible view a few minutes from Nafplion / Tolo.
Well maintained and fun site to visit.
Weak points:
More expensive than the average.
This is definitely a must.
For those who have studied the history of ancient Greece it is a destination not to be missed
Amazing site and museum. Take your time for the visit.
Mikken is a truly magnificent place. When you realize that these ruins are 5 thousand years old. It is worth coming there and seeing everything with your own eyes.
It's worth seeing 12 euro for adult children for free
Awesome. The door of the Lions, the old citadel, the treasure of the Atriums ... Essential visit
Exciting! The door of the lions ... wonderful! You breathe history
I loved it here, it was one of the highlights of my trip. We had a guide which makes things so much more understandable and helps you visualise what it was like in its day and what meant to the people of that time.
A bit of a trek to get here but well worth it.
Very interesting a
arcaological site!
Everything is impressive the rocks, the landscape, the strength of the place
Ruins like other, expensive entry 12 EUR from an adult
The beginning of Greek culture in front of you. It is unimaginable the size and the length of time that is presented to the visitor. The spaces of the museum are contemporary and the exhibits amazing. Well-suited as well as outside.
Very old, Great Stones in beautiful natural circumstances
Definitely worth a visit. Really enjoyed the vistas. It's a short trip from Athens and it can be combined with a visit to Epidaurus and the seaside city of Nauplion.
An archaeological site with a fabulous and historical background. Easy to walk on. You can well imagine the place in ancient times
A marvel. The lions' door makes up for the August heat. A visit to the treasure of Atreu is essential.
Very interesting place for its history thousands of years before Christ
One of the most important archaeological sites in Greece, one that is definitely worth visiting by both Greeks and foreigners. Spend enough time on this visit and don't miss the Museum of Mycenae.
Not a lot has remained of the ruined palace. In relation to other Greek ruins (like the acrocorinth nearby) it is really quite unimpressive. The nearby grave of agamemnon is nice and worth a visit, but paying 12 euro for a 5 minute visit is a bit excessive.
Walking through the remains of a 35 centuries old city is an extraordinary experience.
Absolutely breathtaking. Steeped in ancient history and Greek mythology. Incredible views in a beautiful location
Exceeds expectations, preserved archaeological site, unique experience. It makes you think, imagine the dawn of civilization of the peoples of the region.
Spectacular enclave. Magical site in every way. The Iliad, the history and the importance of the Mycenaean civilization in the history of Greece is that of the Western Culture. Enter through the Door of the Lions to savor the Ancient World. It is worth seeing
A great archaeological site with a great multitude of stories that we must visit again for an unforgettable Greek history
A great place to visit. The museum and exhibits take 5 stars. The 4 stars would be 5 if the place was more groomed and worthy of its history. The herbs had grown so that the buildings and streets of the ancient settlement were not visible. Also in Agamemnon's tumulus they did "ride" mice.
a place that is a must to visit this temple of World civilization..first you have to do your homework so to know what you are going to see then you need time to spend so to absorb this information that covers many aspects of life at these ancient times..you don't cover your tour of knowledge in few hours in Mycenae ..many times are needed to come again here and reading rather studying proper books to be able even to understand what is beyond each item in this marvellous monument of human wisdom and wonder that times back thousands years a ago with the ourdays human passions..you worder how many similarities existed with nowdays but on another fashion and scale.
