Very interesting archeological site. Three amazing tombs, famous entrance with the lions, ruins of the palace, round shape praying place, all with great architecture. This place was the background for Homers to write about the Greek Mythology.
A path for wheelchairs along the whole site. Better to walk with shoes and hat.
It is advices to see the museum first - going straight and left from the entrance. It takes about 2 hour to cover the whole site, bring water with you.
Half price for students.

Personally, one of the most spectacular sites in mainland Greece.

If you like History, little more to say, the impressive fortification and acropolis, the very good state of conservation, as long as the more than three millennia that have elapsed since its construction are taken into account.

The environment makes known why it is located precisely there. The power that the aristocracies of the Mycenaean city-states held at the time is easily sensed or even imagined.

You get to perfectly get the idea of how people lived and what they lived during the Greek Final Bronze in that part of Argolis, the productivity of the valley, its relationship with the sea, the need for defense, ... you have to see it .

And if you are not a lover of history, just because of the landscape that the Peloponnese offers in general and the route of the trip, they deserve a view.

The ruins may not have been as impressive as the acropolis but they were definitely worth the visit. The tumuli were impressive. We were lucky we decided to vist the site in the morning because by the afternoon the site was packed, so I definitely recommend visiting in the morning.

This is a very quiet place with very few tourists but it's fascinating to visit.
The ruins are not in the best condition and you'll have to use your imagination. But this empire had such an impact on the history of civilisation, it's interesting to see it for yourself.
Although you could do this as a day trip from various places, the town is a nice and quaint and a pleasant place to relax for the evening if you don't want to rush on to your next destination.
Access to the museum is included with the entrance fee to the site.

A magnificent monument of ancient Greece. Located in the vicinity of the Peloponnese. For history buffs it will be very interesting. When visiting in the summer, I recommend stocking up with drinking water and protecting yourself from the sun, because when examining the ancient city, there is practically nowhere to hide from the sun. The city itself and the surrounding views are admirable.

Suggestive. For those coming from Rome, they can appear as simple archaeological excavations, but if you think about the history behind it and mythology, you certainly change your mind. If you pass in these parts it is worth stopping.

We were in Mycenae in April 2018. Departed from Athens by bus to naflio with stop at fitchi from kifissos station. Tickets can be made there. Or as I did on the ktel argolidas website. Also booking the place and return to the cost per person of 22 euros. We left at 9:30 and arrived in Fitchi at 11: 10. There are no buses that take you to Mycenae 3 km away. You need to take a taxi at a cost of 5 euros. The site is extraordinary with its cyclopean walls a citadel of 3000 years ago. A masterpiece is to see the 13 meters deep well where you can go down with the torch because it is not illuminated. The visit lasts about 1.5-2 hours. history buffs like me is a must see.

One of the most important archeological destinations .. Not only in Greece but all over the world !! It should have had a bigger parking lot ... I think a cheaper ticket especially for the Greeks. The museum is very nice, you should take a tour to hear some things .. There were too many strangers and ramps for the disabled !! With the same ticket you can see the tomb of Atreas. It is definitely worth the visit ... The place has incredible energy !!

Unique place. Probably the oldest fortress city in Europe by heart. And under the catacombs of climtennestra it is unique. I didn't think it was that good. Going under the lions' gate is truly unique. In general it is not to be missed, I recommend to avoid the lunch time at 16:00 it is all under the sun, and then in an hour and a little more you turn the whole site and it is open until 20:00.

A historical place where you will be impressed by the ancient civilizations. It is recommended to visit when the weather is not extreme. In summer use sunscreen and bring water. In winter a warm garment is not enough.
The museum provides a more complete point of view on the site.

Lion's Gate! Treasure of Atreus! Yowza! The Cyclopean walls...giant stones...how did they do that? This impressed me (and my son). Amazing location as well with lovely views. The museum is good too. It's a big site so make time.
