Great site. Interesting to see the location choices of ancient Greeks.
Make sure to visit Agamemnon tomb near the ancient city of Mycenae.
Also visit the modern museum next to the ancient city entrance.

Amazing Unesco world heritage site. Its of enormous cultural value, well preserved and presented. Do it in a day with the Temple of Asclepius at Epidaurus nearby (both should take 2-3 hours each).

Great sight of ancient plant
Duration of stay: 1 - 2h
6 EUR entry
Free parking.
Good circuit that leads through the complex including signage. The description of the areas could be more detailed. The museum provides free and very detailed audio guides (only for the museum) against an ID card.

It is one of the most important archeological destinations not only in Greece, but all over the world. Its museum is amazing, with great exhibits. The greatness of our ancestors is inconceivable and invaluable. Those who have not visited it really lose.

Is a tourist trap! There are loads of tourists with cars, 12 entrance fee for 1 hour, longer you do not need. The place itself is not a good rest but a huge pig around the car park. Waste will not be disposed of! The fragrance note is short; insecure and shitty! But a dog ban on the plant!
Price performance is not the least!

Reception at the zero counter. Be careful if you are students in France, they do not accept student cards from certain schools (apparently private). The person was not kind enough to let us speak! Disappointed with this deplorable reception.

It is worth visiting if you are in the area. I was impressed by the huge walls that are built with huge Monoliths. Impressive view when I climbed the Acropolis. Do not miss to visit the archeological museum as well as the tomb of Agamemnon located a little further down.

This was a very busy site, particularly popular with coaches. We were most keen to see the Tholos tombs and started with the two outside the walls of the acropolis, the tombs of Clytemnestra and Aegisthus. Aegisthus was open to the sky and Clytemnestra was bigger and the dome had been restored and was complete. Our voices sounded strange, as if we were using a microphone with a reverberation as we talked in the Tholos and, as we had the tomb to ourselves, we could laugh as we made noises. The entrance passage the dromos is built with huge blocks and is over 30 m long and the Tholos is over 10 m in diameter. These are monumental structures and are very impressive. We followed the crowds upwards and through the Lion Gate and walked around the site with French, Italian and far eastern languages all around us. Around Mycenae the hills are covered in scrub and olive groves and the city is in an attractive setting. The acropolis was walled and these walls are to a large part still intact and this gives a good sense of what the city would have been like. We walked down the road to the Tholos tomb known as the Treasury of Atreus. This is the largest Tholos tomb with an impressive 5.5 m high gateway in to the tholos and a tholos that is 14.5 m in diameter and 13 m high. The tholos is corbelled, the courses of stone beautifully overlapping. Light poured through the massive doorway in to the dark cavernous and atmospheric space, despite the other visitors.

We went at 7pm and caught the last hour before closing which was just enough time to visit the small museum and see tour the whole site (another 30 minutes would have been perfect). The light at this time of day was absolutely beautiful. The site is well laid out with explanatory posts along the way and a clear and easy pathway laid out to guide you around. Great views from the site over the plains that run down to the port of Nafplion.

Everything is organized here perfectly. There are information signs everywhere, so it is not difficult to travel along the route. At the same time, I advise you to read the information about the Mycenaean culture (period) first before the trip - it will be much more interesting to consider! Admission for preschool and school children is free. For adults - 12 euros. It is better to go to the toilet at the entrance, because the route is long and there are no toilets.

Beautiful excavation site, unfortunately only the foundation to see, entrance fee of 12, - too high for the small tour and the museum, should be connected with a visit to Nafplio or similar

Must see. So much of Hellenic history revolves around the Mycenian civilisation. The site is well presented with good explanations at key places without detracting from the ambience, well, except for a metal ramp that didn't fit in with the stonework. The entry ticket gets you access to on site museum and Treasury of Atreus 500m down the road before the main site.

A nice walk from the bus stop (taken from Athens) that left us at nearby Fixti. The two towns are 3 km away, on the way they are uphill. There are no shuttles, but taxis, which with a handful of euros accompany you on.
It is worth visiting and taking a walk to enjoy the beautiful countryside surrounding the hill

Had I not visited Delphi, this would have rated 5 stars. As a fortress it would have been virtually impregnable. Some of the ruins have lost definition but the cistern is well worth a visit. Helpful if you have a good torch with you. The burial tombs are spectacular too. Being the seat of the Mycean culture it is worth visiting if, like me, you studied the Iliad and the Odyssey. Not an easy site to visit unless you have a car or ona bus trip. Good free car park. Wonderful museum that displays artifacts in a logical, timeline manner. Museum rates nearly as high as Delphi.

For me, the most interesting is the grave of Agamemnon and the lion's gate. The rest is a cluster of many stones, You have to have a good imagination :) Fortunately, off-season, the ticket costs 6 euros. You can pay by credit card.
