It was a good time. There are restrictions in place, but they have done a good job still letting you get through the majority of the zoo. A few features you had to wait in line for a bit because of capacity restrictions, but other than that we had lots of fun.
What can I say? I love this place! Even with renovations underway, it is always worth a visit.
Enjoy bringing my daughter to the zoo just like I did as a child.
Great zoo been to many different zoos this one is a top 10
We got the family pass this year. With little ones it s good to know we can only take half day trips.
Loved the animals and atmosphere the workers were very friendly and tried there best to accommodate due to the covid-19 situation I wish they had more exhibits open at the time but I still enjoyed my visit overall I will be back in the future to see what more is to offer and hopefully with no masks lol
Best zoo ever. Free days are a bit of a nightmare, bit what do you expect for free.
Really fun and you dont have have to pay for parking your good on that
Fantastic!! My husband is a potato lover, they had the most crispiest fries. He's still talking about them as well as their popcorn. He was disappointed that they didn't have any more turkey legs
Amazing place, large and always adding new things. Memberships here are definately worth it.
I mean, it's a zoo with caged animals, and you sense their boredom. But, they let you drink beer while watching the depressed animals...so it's a good zoo.
Super frustrating that I purchased tickets that were available for members to be notified that the date I chose was closed. Not a big deal as I understand animal health is super important. However, to not offer flexibility for those of us who were essentially kicked out of our date the opportunity to hop on another date is ridiculous. Super unimpressed with the membership process and how things are run.
I loved the zoo! very knowledge staff walking around answering questions to the general public.. employees were very nice and helpful and animals all appeared well taken care of and happy. waiting enjoyed the elephant information ceremony! must see !
One of my favorite places. Always looking for ways to improve !
Great place to see animals. I suggest you bring food so you dont starve while walking around to watch all the animals.
Such a great zoo! People had said it wasn t as up close and personal as Cheyenne mountain zoo, but I felt we were able to get up close to all the animals, even during Covid! There s tons to do and even a little grass area to take a mask break. We had an excellent experience!
Kids absolutely love this place, as a father of 2 I would love to see a stand serving some better drinks, like a Jack and koala (Jack and coke) or something like that
Fun for the whole family. We really enjoyed our time there they got it set up really nice
Great place for kids, some of the new exhibits are great with the shows, demonstrations and feedings. Hopefully the recent increase in investments continues.
One my kids favorite place!
And my too)))
It's an amazing experience with nature an it's wild life can't wait to return
Very nice zoo with a lot of different animals to see. We went on a relatively busy day but the zoo still didn't feel overly crowded because it covers such a large area.
Went here over the summer and for their winter lights. It's an amazing zoo with so many different animal species. When first getting there the entrance staff were amazingly nice and helpful! All the animals are extremely active, which is rare from my zoo experience. It's clean and well maintained. Go check up on the otters playing, you'll definitely say "aww" before you leave their enclosure!
I've been to this zoo a million times and it's stayed pretty much the same. The elephant exhibit is new, the tropical exhibit was built in the mid 90s, same with the primate exhibit, nearly everything else is from like... the 50s. I feel like the enclosures are too small, (specifically for the large mammals like giraffes, rhinos, and elephants) but it's not like the Denver Zoo snatched their animals up out of the wild, most of them were bred in captivity. The animals seem happy enough but if you want them to come near you, you need to wear clothes similar to the zoo uniform so they think they are being fed. This zoo is a bit crowded, particularly on the weekends but if you are able to go on a week day during school that's your best bet. My cousin has mobility issues and my aunt takes her to the zoo all the time, I'm sure there are areas they avoid (like the tropical exhibit) but they usually have a good time.
The food is bad, and expensive. Just pack a lunch.
Overall, I like the zoo, it's not the best zoo in the world but it's a good time, my kids love it.
Great zoo, well laid out with lots of animals in great enclosures. Good beer, ok food (pizza, burgers, pretzels); bring snacks.
We are members here. What a great way to spend a day with kids. Walk around, learn a lot, have lots of fun. Really great zoo!
Many exhibits were empty. My son was sad he didn't get to see many animals.
Beautiful zoo. Lots of updates right now but they'll be really great for the animals when finished.
My family and I absolutely love this place! It's a great place for family fun and creating wonderful memories. Workers are friendly and helpful! The 4d theater in the back of the zoo near the elephants is worth checking out!
Would have been much more festive with Christmas music.
Super fun place. The exhibits were fantastic. We only wish that the maps and signs were easier to read and see. The animatronic dinosaur exhibits in the landscaping throughout the zoo was fun. The kids loved those.
Awesome zoo that's massive. Parking can be a pain but everything else is amazing. Also, it's in Colorado do the get selection is A+
Kids loved the zoo and the big $85 meal we eat but the zoo overall was great family time for me and my family of 8 thanks for the great memories before they get to big on me
Great spot for the whole family!! My kids loved the Lorikeets...best when one flew and landed on my head!! Such a blast. So much to see and do :)
Love the Denver Zoo!! Always a great time. Animals looks healthy, grounds are clean and prices are reasonable.
Best visit ever! Smaller crowds made it easier to see the exhibits and the directional arrows helped us be more efficient. Flowers were gorgeous and the Lego constructions were outstanding
The lights!!!! This was my first time seeing the Christmas lights at the Denver Zoo and it was AWESOME! Don't wait to get your tickets because they sell fast. Walk in, get your hot chocolate or hot cider, get the glasses and enjoy the walk!! Absolutely beautiful! Can't wait to see them again!
Great family place: clean and friendly for a day's experience.....
Busy on Saturday, but overall nice. They just opened the tiger enclosure
Always love coming here! The animals are always so active when I'm there!
Great zoo. The animals have a good space to move around in and the grounds seem to be well maintained. They also have placed directional arrows to encourage flow of traffic and social distancing. Overall its a great place for both children and adults.
Most of the zoo is closed off. I understand that changes need to be made to adjust for COVID-19, but the zoo is a total waste of money right now. All indoor exhibits are closed and primates are largely inaccessible. Nothing on the home page of the website or ticket purchase page. Don t waste your time, come back when things go back to normal. As someone that s been a patron for nearly 30 years, I m incredibly let down by the experience.
Always love the Zoo lights. I like that they limit the number of tickets sold so that it's not over crowded. Wonderful to bring the kids and have a great time.
Not bad for a weekend visit. Hard to find parking so get there early.
No animals were really out.... I did see the elephants nothing to really remember besides empty exhibits wouldn't recommend it. My personal experience was not great only due to lack of animals
We did not get to see the big cats. Perhaps it was too warm for them to come out of the shade. So that is one thing to keep in mind. They have a lot of elephants. I was hoping they could introduce elephant rides. I was also hoping for a petting zoo. The lorikeet habitat was the highlight of my trip to the zoo. I liked and enjoyed the OKC more than the denver zoo. More exhibits and more animals
It's amazing alot of construction going on but it's fun for the kids
As much as I love the volunteers there and the zoo is very nice, every time I have been there I only get to see 50% of the animals and not because is so big but because they are not in their exhibit.
I don't know why not all the animals are out and even more why they don't tell you this at the entrance.
If I would be told then I would not be expecting to see all the animals and would have better planning as to what to visit.
2 of the party of 6 I had went to get hot drinks for everyone and came back with no trays holding the 6 cups in their hands, one of them spilled half drink as he tripped. Sad and disappointing they (the coffee place) didn't set them up for success.
On another hand my favorite places are all the displays inside buildings, fishes, birds, etc. They are soooo neat and you definitely get to see 99% of them!
However Towards the end as they were closing the zoo we were in the bird house and security was there telling us we had to leave. I got ready as he asked for putting many layers on to not be cold and once ready I wanted to just see for a few seconds each bird (3 exhibits were left) all I asked was literally 5 seconds to see them and the guy wouldn't let me. Very disappointing. 5 seconds would have made a difference to me not him. Still would not allow me.
I understand that when it is closed is time to go, but when you literally are going to be freezing out there and have spend all day trying to see animals that are not there, 5 seconds can totally make up your experience especially when the person can just tell you ok, let me point them out to you but it has to be super quick.
And it would have been as my family was waiting outside.
I was very disappointed in how the indoor exhibits were not very handicap accessible(I could only find 2 building that had opening doors and the buttons were not convenient to reach.) The layout of the zoo seems like you had to backtrack to see everything or just miss out, but most of all it was sad to see the condition some of the animals were in.
Tons of Halloween decorations the only bad part was the line For the corn maze. But other than that best place I have been for family fun.
Couldn't even get around, to many people and a regular coke 4.99. Rip off!
It was a super nice to zoo and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly I would recommend this place
Had a great time, it was just as good as I remember it when I was a kid.
Lots of great new exhibits of you haven't been in a few years.
Providing compassionate & nurturing care Denver Zoo permits hearing, smelling & seeing 100's of creatures from all over the earth. Opinion and treatment of captured viewable creatures has evolved over the many practiced centuries. Denver Zoo is among the finest examples. Of my lifetime experience i know that i recognise and am recognized by many of th beautiful spirits that live there. I visit as often as possible ideally spring summer fall & winter yearly. So much to see & enjoy i never can get through th entire establishment in a single visit even when its nearly empty of patrons always saving sum for next time. Plenty of wandering peacock strutting plumage. Many options for food and drink. A train and carousel to ryd. Large free parking. I love supporting the Denver Zoo do enjoy.
We got there 20 mins before opening and easily got parking. I should have bought tickets online. The zoo is under construction. They offer a lot of animals, but many of the cages were dirty and some animals were pacing in smaller cages. These offered great viewing options but felt bad for the animals. By noon everyone was getting hot and tired, make sure to have your walking shoes on. Several exhibits are inside, so do the outdoor ones first so you can enjoy the shade later.
One of the better zoos in the country, not only for the guest experience but for the animals as well. Over the past 20 years they have given the big monkeys, elephants, Lions and tigers all new exhibits with lots of room. The reason for 4 stars and not 5 is that they close too early in the summer. 4pm? Also they need to partner up with another zoo so we can use our membership elsewhere. Several zoos do this. Food here is actually quite good, and they have several craft beer stations!
Marvelous! My family and I have lived all over the United States and everywhere we've been, we go and see the touristy sights -- including the zoo. This is one of the best. So many animals! So much space! We had lunch at one of their small food courts and the BBQ was amazing! Expensive but nothing that you wouldn't expect. Considering other zoo's, it seemed pretty inexpensive. Will be traveling back!
Good zoo but a lot of improvement could ve made in the qnimal habits. Some animals seem very happy but others such as the rhinoceros seem depressed. Also many exhibits appear to be void if any animals.
Nice zoo with a carousel and train for the kids. Some exhibits are dated.
Fun place. Not many animals during the hot months. Parking is horrible if you don't arrive early.
Great place for families. Also very good if you have young children.
Such a good time! Plenty of parking! Expensive food but good food. 2 year old granddaughter had a great time! Plenty of shady areas.
Horrible horrible experience!!! I wish I could get my money back! I will never ever go there. We came to visit from Utah and we thought It would be fun for our family to go and make good memories but I swear there were no animals whatsoever! We payed for nothing!!! I think more than half of the place was empty, no cool animals to see and we didn't even spend that much time there as soon as we noticed that there were not animals in display. At the end we just wanted to leave because it was pointless walking around with nothing to see. Salt Lake City zoo is waaay better than Denver zoo. I wish I could give it zero stars if I could. Enough said.
We go to this zoo a lot. and I'd have to say it's great. one thing I do believe would make it easier is if there was more parking. or someone who can park for you for a small additional fee. That would save us literally 2 hours of searching. Because not all of us can quite walk in this family. So the closer the better, but if we could pass the keys to a zoo employee it would make life easier and faster. Then have them bring it back when we are done. If parking was improved I'm sure a lot of reviews would be better.
Great zoo! Easy access lots of activities and great facilities.
Hadn't been in a long time. It was awesome but very crowded. (Went on a free admission day)
This zoo is awesome! As a former employee of a different zoo it looks to be well run and the animals come first. Plan to spend a number of hours here! There are indoor exhibits as well as outdoor, and many of the animals you can view both sides so you don't miss out. I also love the uniqueness of rotating exhibits for some of the animals so they have a variety of living areas when outdoors. Will definitely visit again.
A lot better than the negative reviews made it sound. I'm sure its better in the summer for the day general admission, but we did the regular day zoo then the zoo lights. A little expensive, but worth every penny.
Would have loved to see the polar bear, lions and zebras..
It was a nice Zoo. The side attractions cost additional but not by much. Still it should be included in entry fee.
Beware! There are NO family restrooms in the zoo. I had to leave as a result. I asked about 20 employees and called customer service while in the park and no one could direct me to one. Called customer service and the lady told me 50 years ago her dad would take her into men s room... can you believe that?
Great time with a lot of great animals, but there were renovations going on in a number of exibits. The staff seemed to care a lot about the animals and gave some interesting information at various exibits.
Love going here for the zoo lights around Christmas time. They do not disappoint with the lights.
One of the nicest and well kept zoos in the country!
