They have made some improvements and I applaud them on upgrading their tigers' habitats. Now they need to do the rest of the cats cause I feel bad for the leopards.

Great place for the kiddos, of course. Bring a lunch, make a day of it. Animals are loved and cared for. Exhibits are awesome. Primates are always popular and busy. Lots of walking, bring your stroller or a wagon so the kids can rest their legs. Enjoy the day.
Best place to go with family and friends.Nice Zoo. My children love this place. You can see different types of animals. Staff members are very friendly.
The zoo is a lot of fun! For people with medicaid or foodstamps in the later part of the season, you can get in for 1$ if you show them your card :) you can get up to 10 people in that way for only a 1$ each so its very affordable that way. There are so many amazing animals to see and lots of fun for families.
Fairly large with a lot to see: expect to spend a minimum of 2-3hrs, lot's of walking. Animals seem overall well taken care of but it is a zoo and so you are seeing lions in cages, et cetera. Staff are incredibly helpful and friendly- willing to come right up to you and chat about what you are seeing (Giraffe lady was fantastic).
Great zoo! If you come on a busy day be ready to park very far away and have your walking shoes on! They do a great job of keeping the zoo in good condition and looking good.
don't waste your money. most of the exhibits had no animals in it. and the ones that did were all sleeping. the ones that weren't sleeping were too far to view.
It was disappointed to hear the polar bears were gone. There were a few exhibits empty.
Great zoo, animals, clean park... Food is a bit pricey though!
Went last Christmas for light show. Long walk around zoo and not enough signs to give directions. Had to walk half mile to gate as nt most animals were a li ready put up.I wont go back.
Holiday zoo lights are incredible. They set up the presentation and feel of the zoo very well!
The upgrades are amazing and the animals look happier. Make someone you love happy and take them to the zoo
So much has changed in fourty years... Better and much more humane... Beautiful...
I always come to zoo lights every year and the staff and environment is always awesome. This year I noticed that there were less lights and it just wasn't as magical as last year. It was still a great time though.
very crowded, huge, and pretty expensive. plus parking SUCKED. wear comfy shoes, and a backpack full of your own snacks and drinks ~
over all, it was a pretty good zoo, and a good way to spend the day.
Nicely maintained facility. Worth the price by far!
Very small enclosures for the animals, doesn't look like they have ever been updated, just the gift shops and food courts where you spend your money. Animals seeking shade in these hot days with none to be found. They zoo says only 250 people during covid .... there was at least 500 in the park. Best zoo so far Saint Louis Zoo, its also free entry.
The denver zoo is always a fun place to visit and although there is a lot of construction you can tell that the zoo keepers really care about the conservation of animals.
Went to Lights at the Zoo and they had a beautiful display. Their hot chocolate was not very good though. We also saw the show that they had with Mrs. Claus and she did a great job however the story was a little boring for kids and would've been better if they had one where there was more interaction and participation with the audience. Parking was reasonable because we arrived early.
There's a lot of walking and it is hard to see most of the animals
Half the free parking is for "low emmisions" vehicles only. Beware the gift shop is sky high prices... $8 for a small flashing rubber giraffe...dollar store level crap. The elephant show was fun but they are small asian elephants...no big eared/tusked african elephants. For the amount of in your face toyota sponsored marketing, youd think they could spring for real elephants. Mostly great staff. Some closed exhibits. The indoor enclosures were awesome. The zoo...like many...was a little hard to navigate for first timers. Don't go early in the morning (9.30 am) or most animals wont be out or workers staffing locations. There were some animals tucked away that we nearly missed like the flamingos. They do have a major Canada goose problem so dont mind the poop everywhere. Tons of primates and fish! Overall okay zoo though I was very disappointed with the elephant\rhino\hippo area....empty.
I love the zoo! I do NOT love the lack of parking. We drove around the lot today for about 45 minutes. There was bumper to bumper, stand still traffic in the parking lot. This has actually happened on several occasions. We need to help the zoo get more parking. I purchased my tickets in advance, so l will try again later in the week.
The Zoo entry fee was pricey but not as bad as the costs of small water bottle ($3) or a single ice cream cone ($3.50). The staff that I did run into either ignore the general public or were rude as hell. The staff manning the main cafe were terribly rude and seemed offended to be asked to do their job. The gal I ordered my ice cream from had a pissy attitude and immediately starting trash talking her job to her coworker and acting like I was bothering her as she made my cone. The animal displays were neat in the variety of animals but the over all layout sucked. I spent four hours at the zoo, and I was frustrated that some of the smaller areas were closed two hours before the zoo would be closed for the day and I was shooed out. This was only my second zoo but I wouldn't advise anyone to come here.
Such a wonderful Zoo day! Fun for adults just as much as the kiddos. I ve also been here for Denver zoo lights which is wonderful! I love that they serve beer throughout the park too
Sloth is very cute but kinda hidden so keep your eyes peeled.
My granddaughter loved it I was a bit let down. But hopefully with all the construction it will pay off for the next time we travel to Denver.
Food and drinks very expensive total total RIP off for non members.
So the zoo in the summer time is great! (The only thing was they separated the gorilla from the baby and his mother, and he was quite mad. I m sure there was a reason, but that was sad to see him so upset) Most of the animals are out, but in the winter, zoo lights is a personal favorite. They go above and beyond for the zoo lights. It s always absolutely beautiful and the kids (10, 3 and a 1 year old) enjoyed the lights. Just make sure you pack extra blankets!!
Fun for the family but you need to get the pass to make it worth multiple trips.
Took the toddler to see the animals. He spent the day more excited to see all the big balls the animals have in their enclosures. Kid had a great time, I enjoyed myself. It was a good day despite the whole zoo being packed to the gills.
This place was well prepared to show us a good time at the zoo during these times
Some construction going on but to make the Zoo more welcoming. Awesome trip though to take. Will be back
Went to Boo at the Zoo today! Have been going for over 10 years and it seems like every year there are fewer and fewer candy stations and fun things for the kids. Not sure if the sponsors aren't there anymore or what is going on. We are members and still enjoy the zoo, and will continue to do so, but the "special" event is a little lackluster.
Hands down the best zoo ever. Tropical Discovery 5ever!
Had fun while there.. entry is $$. A few animal exhibit were being cleaned so didnt see most interesting ones. with the time of day 1p-close animals were relaxing because of heat. Food prices were ok.. would eat before coming. I believe you can bring a water bottle. Map is a little confusing but got through all of it.
I called and spoke to Rachel who was amazingly helpful. My folks have had zoo memberships for years and due to some bumps in the road with their health had not renewed. Rachel told me about the Up-Close Zoo Animal Encounters, membership packages, and future zoo projects on the horizon. Well-informed, professional, and delightful Rachel represents exactly why we love and continue coming to our Denver Zoo!
The Denver Zoo, her animals and staff were all amazing! My whole family had an amazing time! Your staff was incredibly informed, answering questions, telling us about the animals and their history and were all welcoming. I especially enjoyed our time with Mariah, your courtesy driver, she drove us twice and both times she was great! She explained about the animals as we passed, allowed us time to take pictures and was super sweet!
Definitely one of the best places to visit in Denver. If you want to go more than once get a membership it's worth it and get the souvenir cup if you brink it back refills are only a $1.50.
Very much enjoyed this zoo. Staff was very friendly whenever we talked to them. Wide assortment of animals too see.
Best ZOO EVER !!!!!!!!!! I've been to so many and this trumps all! Worth the money! The animals seem happy and energetic compared to a lot of other Zoos I visited where they seem stressed, ignored and unhappy. Well done Denver, thanks for a great experience.
P.s. I've been to zoos in New York, Tennessee, Georgia, Texas, Michigan, Long Island, north and South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland..this is the best! Go here!
Badass zoo... went there for the light show and it was pretty awesome as well
I love this zoo! Very wide roads to walk and lots to see. We are now members and we enjoy going there everytime.
Fabulous zoo. Most people were wearing a mask and practicing social distance. It takes two hours to three to finish the whole zoo.
Pretty cute, bit didnt get to see any gorillas while we were there
Excellent zoo, animals up close. Staff very friendly and helpful. Parking can be iffy.
The zoo closes wayyy to early... Not enough time to see all the animals
Great place to take the kids! The lights are amazing and we even saw some animals! Hot cocoa and popcorn with your loved ones makes for a great night.
Situated within the City Park, just east of Downtown Denver. The traffic leading to the zoo is not bad, even on weekends. But beware that parking can be a hassle, esp on weekends. I'd recommend to drop off the family closer to the tickets/entry gates and then drive off to find parking. Sometimes, there may be league baseball games in the park which may make finding parking harder. The ticket counters need more personnel to handle the weekend rush; there are no shaded areas or seating while waiting to buy tickets or entry into the zoo. Upon entry, turn right to find the area to rent wagons for kids and bags- they also have caps, hats, umbrellas, sunglasses, rain coats etc for sale. The zoo exhibits are great- either the paper map or their free app is suffice to find your way around the zoo. Maybe some more shrubbery or trees for shade for the animals as well as zoo patrons. The food restaurants are a little pricey but have enough variety for the whole family. Restrooms are very clean. Overall, its a way to spend a few hours on the weekend.
My another issue with the zoo is with their timings- the closing time specifically. Most zoos across the country, during summer, close anywhere from 5-6pm. But this zoo closes at 4p; and the sun is still up overhead. I hope they can change the summer timings in the future
The best and only zoo in Denver. It has a wide variety of animals, they are all well well kept cared for. It also has decent food selections, and many good educational and entertaining shows
The atmosphere and animal take you to a different place all together!!!!
Not too much food, no animal in the second half of the zoo. Maybe it was not the best period of time to visit it. Finally price was expansive for what we could see.
We love the Zoo and have been members for 2 years now. Always so much to see, and they re constantly improving exhibits and experiences.
Booked to feed giraffes. Was not disappointed. Got to learn about them individually. Not allowed to pet them because they don't like it though. Looking forward to the penguin close encounter next time.
All the kids and old people are annoying. Takes the fun out of everything there.
A fun place to go and they feed the Bears at certain times throughout the day
They serve beer here! Kids had a blast. Really suggest getting a membership. Visited twice and I paid for a membership. So if you go more than once a year makes sense to buy
This was my first time at the zoo, i really enjoyed the variety of animals.
Best zoo in the area and has so many great seasonal opportunities for all kids and ages
Today was great! We got to see almost all the animals!!
Awsome zoo, great animals that are well taken care of. Beautiful exhibits and overall a very fun time.
The Denver zoo is always so much fun. We have already gone several times this year. I would definitely recommend. There is a lot of educational information.
On our last visit we learned about grizzly bears and their new exhibit, Harmony Hill.
Nice, hadn't been there in 15 years, we went around 10:30 am, too late for most of the outdoor activities. Covid-19 rules make it difficult to see some of the animals.
Very large zoo with active animals. Awesome for all ages, especially with the holiday attractions and events Denver Zoo offers.
Fun for all ages and disabilities. Ready to walk around the loop and see amazing animals. Fun carousel and train too!
My favorite place for summer to visit. There is so much to see and so much to dom there are a lot of free days and activities for kids. Its gotten bigger and the enclosures have been upgraded with more info and room for animals. Abolutely a wonderful place to visit.
It was my grandson's third birthday. No,e of the animals were out and about and prices are outrageous. Fortunately he found another 3 year old to run around with. That made his day. It was 140$ to get in and another 50$ for each of us to get something to drink. Completely not worth it.
