Being from Ohio and having some of our zoos be ranked as some of the best in the country, I had to check this zoo out. I loved how close you could get to the animals and the amount of exhibits that they had. I also really liked how you could bring your own food and drinks in. It's a good sized zoo so plan on being there for a while if you want to see everything. I saw some of the coolest and cutest animals I had ever seen. This zoo was definitely better than the ones that I have been to in Ohio.

Loved the zoo since I was a little!! I enjoy taking my kids but the only thing I think is a little bit of a bummer is that most of the exhibits have no animals. You spend a lot of time walking around to see nothing

Good place for families and kids to visit. Wide variety of animals in nice enclosures. The Bird area is fun to walk through. You can get close up to the polar bears and gorillas. Nice to walk through the different animal areas. Worth the price.

Only reason I didnt give 5 stars were the restrooms. They needed a little more assistance than they were getting. It was warm when we went so a few of the big animals werent out. I would go when its cooler out.also you are allowed to bring your own stroller, cooler, and food.

Pretty good though very busy. I don't have kids, so be surrounded by what seemed like wall to wall screaming & crying for 3hrs was tough going! Still, that will teach me to go on a busy Saturday.... Parking was tough as well: car park was full so needed to park around 15min walk away.

This is one of my favorite places in Denver. The conservation effort and dedication to enrichment and care of the animals makes this one of the best zoo's! There are so many activities that keep kids young and old engaged. Amazing food, memberships and animals!

Went for the first time to Denver Zoo Lights right before the New Year. Busy, had to park out in left field so long walk to entrance. Also one of the coldest nights to go....but bought tickets online ahead of time so no wait. Had a good time being mesmerized by all of the displays and different uses of lights. Worth going once if you are a native and have never gone. Since animals are not out, price of admission should include day hours entry/admittance. Must buy separate tickets if you want to go to see the animals. Also went same year end of October for Boo at the Zoo. Either time, not able to see the animals since there is no lighting other than the lights used for the displays.

We didn't get to go in the entrance was not clearly marked so we parked and gad to walk almost 1 1/2 then lines were so long wait time over an hour and then we found out no way to get around but walk with all of us with knee, feet and back problems so it was a bust so I can't review inside..but from what we saw from a distance it looked neat & clean .

The Zoo is not to big but defenitely have a lot of things to see. The highlight of the zoo is elephants and it s playings in water. It s something to be watched. Went during Covid times. We have to really appreciate the amount of effort the maintenance people and workers are taking in order to keep the place clean spraying disinfectant and stuffs. All the places especially they are cleaning thoroughly and I am impressed by that. Almost all place they have sanitizers as well. Great job team.

The zoo was a great experience with a wide range of activities. The Big Bear BBQ Grill was a great place to have lunch, and very reasonable priced considering how concessions are handled at most zoos and museums.

Most animal exhibits are open. One way traffic so less exposure. LEGO exhibition. Make sure to take a picture of the map before you first enter so that you don't miss any of them. Only some of the food vendors are open. No wagon rentals. {Space}Lots of hand sanitizer throughout the park.

I took my girlfriend whom I met in college to the Elephant Encounter at the zoo as a surprise. She has a love of elephants and wants to work with them (she's vet tech).

I had been in contact with the the zoo and they helped me by getting the zoo keepers in on the surprise. At the end of the tour, we were allowed to ask the elephants to perform acts, and the Keeper asked my girlfriend to ask Bodie to bow. As she did, I got on my knee, and asked her to marry me. She said yes!!! The zoo staff for an amazing job of helping me plan everything and I couldn't be more grateful to them for their professionalism, enthusiasm, and help! They even took photos of the event of the whole thing!

After the the tour, we roamed the zoo for a while. The grounds are kept clean (which is a major feat with all of the people and children roaming about). The exhibits are great and it's nice to see the amount of care that is taken to ensure the animals are provided with clean areas, enrichment, and safe environments.

Nice large city zoo. New roomy elephant exhibit. Lots of interesting animals. It will take you most of a day to see it all.

If you are having a difficult time finding parking, there is a new parking garage which almost always has space in the lower level. Parking is free.

Great zoo with an extensive array of animals and the ability to see a lot of them up close too. I took a 3yo and he loved it. We spent 4.5hrs there. He also loved the temporary dinosaur exhibit.

I loved the play and splash area! I wish I had known about it sooner. There is a Denver Zoo App with a map to help ease but it lacks a logo to specify children interactive areas such as the sand play area, jump like an animal etc. They have a whole play area for children, toddlers and up. The new Dinosaur exhibits are awesome and we hope they're here to stay, or at least come back next summer!! They have a dig for bones activity and a dinosaur to climb on by the carousel. They also have a whole parakeet section where you can go in and feed the birds. I wish they had a place you could feed the giraffes.

Boo at the Zoo is always a hit, we love the chapstick (only Toyota was handing out the chapstick this year). The light at the Zoo has severely improved since the last time I attended in 2011. There are so many more lights and fun events etc.

FYI you cannot bring balloons into the zoo, but you can bring food, snacks, juice boxes, and water. Food isn t too expensive nor disgusting if you have to buy here too. Beer and BBQ is sold at the Zoo if you need that as a selling point to get the hubby to go.

It was a nice cool day that we went, which was super nice. The park is very clean, I just feel like there are not very many animals and the ones they do have it's seems like they only have one.

Always fun though disappointed that the baby changing tables are often in ackward places. While I understand the buildings were built decades ago, bolting a pull down table anywhere doesn't always make for a good experience. Example giraffe building the changing table is right in front of the urinal and due to tight space I'm blocking either both urinal and a stall or I'm bumping into the urinal.

Always a fun outing with the family and/or friends!! New exhibits are awesome, even have lion cubs this year! Great place for events, kids, dates, friends, & all others to have fun! My favorite its always the monkey island and predators...but it's a hard pick between all the great see ups this zoo offers. If you get a membership the price is very reasonable even for this parks food which is unusual (usually it's super expensive). Full day to get through our great to spit puck for a half day as well.

In 1896, a small, orphaned black bear named Billy became the first resident of Denver Zoo. Billy's adventurous helped mold the Zoo into a home to 3,800 animals representing more than 650 species. Denver Zoo is a great place to spend a day. A lot of wonderful animals and the staff here really cares for all of them.

Very clean and very friendly. This zoo is huge, to see it all go from open to close. Best bird sanctuary I have seen. The only down side is the cost of food, $13 for a grilled cheese. Why???

It's hard to understand how the prices keep climbing and attendance is up yet the zoo is becoming dirtier and less appealing. The customer service is terrible. It used to have engaging people who seemed to like working there....now it's a bunch of kids who could care less about your experience. The animal exhibits are filthy along with the common areas. They need to put some effort into making this a memorable experience. We used to go a lot but will probably never go again. We'll make the drive to Colorado Springs and the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. This is a much better experience and they are at least trying to improve their attraction. Take some lessons from them Denver Zoo.

Great place to do a mini-vacation. Of course the kids will love it. We love to see all the animals. We arrived around 10am and a lot of the animals were sleeping so just be aware of that. Maybe go later when they wake up lol! Overall a great experience. The primate area was my favorite, also really liked watching the sea lions.
One suggestion: please clean the windows because they were filthy making it hard to see some animals and not great for picture taking. That was a huge disappointment, but other than that really enjoyable experience and a great place to get your steps in for the day!

Just finished attending the zoo lights. Thw whole place is lit up with colorful animals and christmas lights. Absolutely beautiful. Took about an hour and a half to do the whole tour. Strongly recommended!

Would be nicer if there was a busing from parking to door. Or more handicap parking most people who are handicapped cannot walk five blocks to get to the door. It was to busy so we had to skip it. But the denver zoo is awesome if you get there early enough to park... Like 7am.

Who doesn't like going to the zoo? My visit, with my sister and her little blonde two year old charge Karsten. The best time to visit, in my opinion, is between 11am and 3pm. All be it a small zoo and really out date exhibits with only a handful of the animals live in adequate sized enclosures. The price of admission has been increased to $21 so I highly recommend investing in an membership, especially if you visit more than twice and visit with a family or friends. I also enjoy the fact that picnics are allowed to save money if, like me, you are on a budget. Take time to stop and smell the roses,,,or the monkeys.
