gorgeous. kinda confusing at first since you cant drive in, but all the marked hikes are within the first 14 mi where you can drive. Shuttle worth it to spend a day driving in, can get off whenever to hike, but no marked trails
It was awesome even though we had a lot of smoke. Saw lots of wildlife. Just missed a clear view of Denali. Day b4 we got there it was clear. :(
Beautiful place! A must see for anyone who loves nature and seeing mother nature and mother Earth! Long way to get near the mountain so be prepared! Unless you are willing to pay more to get on a helicopter or small plane!
Excellent bus driver/tour guide..Loved beautiful scenery..
Very big park. Opportunity to walk in backcountry wherever you want, after you learn how to behave among bears , moose and wolves.
Excellent visit. Beautiful day and we saw the mountain.
Rejuvenating with Nature cannot be more earthy than staying at Denali National Park campsites
This park is incredible. There aren't as many easy trails as there are in other parks like Zion, but the quality of trails here really makes up for that. The scale of this place is unreal. Unlike most other national parks, they actually encourage you to go off trail and see what you can find.
Even on a rainy day -- didn't see The Mountain but saw two grizzlies, ten caribou, a ew moose...don't be afraid to take the (less expensive ) shuttles. The drivers are fabulous! Ranger led hikes are great too.
Must visit. Mt. McKinley(Denali) is absolutely surreal.
I could spot 8 bears,6 bear cubs,3 moose,9 Dall sheep,7-8 caribou,a flock of Ptarmigan all in a one day bus tour,I was exceptionally lucky. A great opportunity to experience living in the wilderness and rest in the lap of mother nature!
We started our Alaska visit with Denali National park and camped at Wonderlake. Every place we visited was absolutely gorgeous. We saw so many bears, moose, caribous that we lost count. Our driver for the camper bus, Tom was wonderfully knowledgeable and knew exactly where to spot wildlife.
While staying at Wonderlake we also attended a talk by Park Ranger, Frank John, who told us about the eating habits of grizzly bears, which was very entertaining and he put a lot of effort into it which we really appreciated, even though we had no kids in our group. Services at the campgrounds exceeded our expectations with running water.
This is a great National Park to see wildlife in their natural habitat, undisturbed by people. This National Park is very serious about keeping the 6 million acres of land in pristine condition. Lots of restrictions on what you can and can't do inside the park. The only way to see the entire 90 miles of road through Denali National Park is by purchasing a tour. Private vehicles are only allowed in for the first 10 miles or so. Lots of wildlife to see if you happen to come on a good day. If your lucky, you might even get to see Mount Denali. We arrived on a day when wildfires were happening in the area, so the smoke made it difficult to see anything. Also be prepared to ride school buses throughout the National Park if you purchase a tour. The road is not paved the whole way, so it's gets dusty and rough. Also bring extra water and snacks because nothing is sold once you entered the National Park. There are bathrooms available throughout the park.
Outstanding national park and preserve. Easy access and clean campgrounds
Beautiful park. Enjoyed the bus ride, had a awesome driver and got very lucky with animal encounters while on the bus. I recommend going in as far as possible on the bus for the best opportunity & possibility of seeing bear, caribou, dall sheep, moose, ptarmigan & anything else that thrives in the park. There are nice trails in the beginning of the park by the visitor center & along the river further inside. So happy I had the opportunity to visit this park even if it wasnt the best weather day to see Denali.
Pure nature nice scenery you must take a history tour, Driver will give a lot of information around National Park. May till September is a best time to visit.
Definitely one of the most incredible national parks I've been to. Definitely try to make it out there at some point in your life.
The most beautiful National Park I have been to, hands down!
It s Denali. What is there to say other than it s amazing? Take a bus, see some wildlife, take a hike at Eielson Visitor Center, pet some sled dogs, pray it s clear enough to see the mountain... what more do you want out of life?
Awesome place to camp they have everything you need.
- Upper Teklanika River, Backcountry Unit 6
- Northern Lighrs
The park was unbelievable. Great scenery. Lots of wildlife
I experienced Denali through an 8 hour tour bus ride. We had a naturalist as our guide. During the tour in July of 2008 we saw numerous animals and got to see some incredible views. It even snowed for a bit while on the tour, which was an experience of its own.
My only regret is that I didn't spend more time here.
It was an amazing view, it's been taken care of very well. And the whole place is well protected
There's so much to say about the park but words do not suffice. Definitely a place to explore.
Into the Wild. Wonderful park with fantastic staff, accessible by bus that leads to a desolate wilderness for about 8 hours with views to leave breathless, you can meet and photograph various animals (moose bears, etc.) a place that you it immediately enters the heart, a pity that we have encountered bad weather but "this is Alaska"
The highest peak in North America alone may be enough reason to visit this park. Better still, wildlife viewing here is excellent, and there are countless opportunities to explore the backcountry. On the downside, it is not very flexible in getting around the area.
Impressive wilderness tour although it is pretty long.Looking into their cameras was breathtaking as the getting a close up view on the animals was something different to just looking at them from the distance. Happy to say they provided water and snacks.
Despite controversies over name changes and a shrinking elevation, Denali's beauty is worth braving the extreme low temperatures. Make a road trip out of your visit, seeing as much of the 6 million acres of shimmering lakes and jagged mountains as you can.
Wow!! See the Mt. Mckinley Beauty. I'm so lucky to see the tip of the Mt. Mckinley. I could say one of the best trip of my life.
It was an amazing scene being able to see the tallest mountain in North America! Def plan a few days here to get the full experience!
A great place close to Anchorage.
A must for people in Alaska. 100% to see a LOT of wildlife.
Take's about 4-5 hours by bus to the furthest point (Wonderlake Campground). They offer shuttles a few times per day.
Always great to visit this park and we saw Denali this time
What are the best national parks you can visit. It is surrounded by mountains and you can take a helicopter ride and land on the glaciers. The guides are first-rate and no the history and geology of the area.
Don't believe the pictures. Only visible a few days a year.
This place is pretty breathtaking!! Love the views and beauty of this serene place!!
We had a wonderful time on the shuttle bus with Chavez. It was raining and they still did a great job
The drive there was as beautiful as the park! Denali is truly majestic!
Beautiful!! We got to see the full mountain. Hiking was a blast! The driver, Mike D, was pretty cranky throughout the ride. He was ok though.
Just beautiful. The last untouched wilderness in North America. The rangers are extremely knowledgeable and have so much to tell the public about this great place! We saw moose and caribou and birds and learned so much about how the preserve came to be. See it now.
Pretty good spot for picking blueberries most years.
I would highly recommend the trip to Eielson. It's a long day but we saw a ton of wildlife-moose, caribou, small sheep, grizzly bears, and a wolf. Great hiking and a place to truly be alone in nature. As a bonus, we were part of the 30% to see Mt Denali.
Everything around you is so large in scale, it's almost hard to fully comprehend it. It elicits feelings of awe and grandeur that are similar to the Grand Canyon. And the wildlife viewing? Amazing.
We were in the area for a couple of days hoping to see the top of Denali itself. The park road was closed the only full day we were in town because of ice (due to the blizzard the night before when we were driving in). We tried again when we were headed back towards Anchorage the next day and it was open! Just as a point, you can only access up to mile 15 via private vehicle. If you want to go further than that, you have to get on the bus. We were there in what was still considered the winter season so there were no buses running. We parked at the lot around mile 15 and hiked up a couple of extra miles up the road to get a better view of Denali. Minimal clouds at the top when we took those pictures. Excellent scenery all around and I can only imagine it gets even better the further in you get. We WILL be planning another vacation during the summer season so we can get to all of it. If you are headed up that way and don't have time to get all the way to the glacier, you can get some excellent views from the south side of the park too (Talkeetna is one spot and then there's a scenic turnout area further north called "Denali View South").
This place is amazing, we had Wayne the bus driver on our way to to do some back country hiking and he provided some great knowledge on the park while also pointing out lots of wild life. This is a must see place to visit and such and awesome place to experience.
A great experience. We saw bear, caribou, moose, wolves, mountain goats, and bald eagles. The scenery was outstanding and we were able to see the mountain. I like that you can go on and off the bus at any time.
So fortunate to have won a road lottery ticket AND to have the mountain visible app day. Even for the parts of our trip where the weather was less than ideal, Denali is an amazing place, you should definitely go.
We expected to see much more animals as they are marketing the park but we didn't see much and if we saw it was from far away.
Beautiful scenery. Paved road goes only 15 miles into the park.
Good place to see wildlife and get close to nature.
The park has an expectacular view, I highly recommend the "natural history tour" that tells the history of the place and interesting local anecdotes.
It is a totally natural environment and is very well preserved, you can also see moose!
Why you wouldn't give itty give stars is beyond me, Denali. Enjoyed every minute of this place.
Stop laying around and go.
Always an amazing experience! One of the must do items while in Alaska. We live here and still make a point to go. The bus tours are great and we always see tons of wildlife. I recommend the Tundra Wilderness Tour. Not too long, not too short.
This park is incredible! Photos don't do it justice. We took the shuttle bus to Eielson Center. It was half the cost of the tour bus and is no different other than the color. Even though shuttle bus drivers are not required to narrate, our bus driver did and she stopped several times for photo opportunities. She was an awesome "tour guide" and extremely knowledgeable about the park. We were lucky enough to see all of Denali, for quite some time. We did not mind the long bus ride. We did get ample time to stretch our legs and take pictures at Eielson Center before heading back. We stopped several times for restroom breaks.
Take the Green Bus. It is the best value day out in Alaska
Beautiful, stunning, and majestic. A requirement of any visitor to Alaska.
Although there are many reasons for visiting Denali Park, my principal reason was to see Mount McKinley. I was driving from Anchorage and had to go more than 80 miles past Mount McKinley to get to the entrance to the park. Once there I was just disappointed to learn that I could only drive 15 miles into the park. There are shuttle buses that run all the way back to Mount McKinley.
Other worldly. A must see for any wildlife or wilderness lover!!
We flew to anchorage and rented a car. The next day we drove to Denali National park. The Denali National park is a massive Alaskan wilderness. Unfortunately the mountain was not visible. One of the highlights of our trip was the train ride from anchorage to Seward. We sat in the glass dome section of the train which had stunning views of the mountains, rivers, and waterfalls! We also enjoyed a four hours boat tour to see glaciers and sea lions
This is a nice National Park to witness some of the wild animals like bear moose rabbit. Here you can find lot of mountains lakes and a beautiful Scenic Road leading to Wonder Lake. There are bus to s what are permitted travel on this road. There won't be any food on this road trip so please plan to pack plenty of food.
Great beautiful place to take visitors and see wildlife. Watch out for bears!
Lots of wildlife and great scenery. Informative stations along the way
