My wife and I park hop every summer with our 4 boys and have been to so many national parks from California, Oregon, and Washington state to Gulf Islands in Florida, Everglades, The Smokies and about everywhere in between...so many I can't count. This is the worse park I've been to. Bus tickets to get beyond the first 15 miles are $40-$60 per person 16 and over...each time you ride. That would have been a minimum of $120 for our family each day. I saw more outside of the park than I did in the first 15 miles. This was the biggest disappointment of our trip to Alaska. Go to Seward and the southern mountains and glaciers instead.

There's nothing better than the view of Denali Peak when the clouds have cleared. Dall sheep, brown bears, moose, ptarmigan, arctic squirrels, snowshoe rabbits. Excellent tour driver on the Tundra Wilderness Tour.

Wow! What an experience.

Wow! What an experience.

We had a great tour of the park. It was a beautiful cool but sunny day and it was incredible. Our tour guide Bob was very knowledgeable, informative and funny. He stopped every time we spotted an animal and at all pit stops.

Bring extra batteries for you will take lots of pictures.

Went here for some wilderness backpacking. Overall a great, wild, and rugged experience. My only negatives were lack of a good backcountry permit system, way too much air traffic in the backcountry units, and it s so very difficult to get away from the view of road in some units (we were in units 32, 9, and 10).

I love this beautiful and wonderful place. You can travel about 20 miles to the park and park on the side of the road for a walk enjoying nature or even taking pictures. After that you have to take the bus paying the ticket, where they will More

Experience the wildlife in their natural habitat, go berry picking, marvel at the magnificent Mckinley Mountain. You can drive your own cars 15 miles into the park and there is a lot to catch even in just that. When in doubt which bus tour to pick - go with the Eielson Visitor Center tour. We went in Fall and saw the best mix of green yellow and red mountain sides.

Gorgeous! Breath taking! I took a bus tour through the park on my trip to Alaska and I saw bears, goats, moose, and elk and the views were spectacular! If you are ever in this part of Alaska it is a must see!

Denali National Park and Preserve is Absolutely beautiful! The vast wilderness, the clean air, the abundance of wildlife, the changing colors during the seasons... Truly unlike anywhere else on the planet, Denali is an extremely unique experience. There are plenty of activities in the area from tours into the park, guided hiking trips, river rafting, ATV tours, cover wagon horse rides, helicopter tours, glacier landings, zip lines, train rides, self driven jeep tours as well as cabin night entertainment, live music events, dinner theatre and dozens of places to get food and drinks from fine dining establishments to the world famous Salmon Bake. If you come in the later months of the season, you will see the drastic change in fall coloes and may even glimps a show of Aurora! Be sure to bring your camera and sense of adventure and depending on when you go, an extra layer.

Not sure how this isn't a solid 5 stars. One of the most beautiful places on the planet. You literally are allowed to hike anywhere and camp anywhere (as long as it's not near wolf dens, which are marked). The bus ride in is an adventure in and of itself, but there is so much to explore as if the scenery isn't grandeous enough - from beaver dams to grizzlies roaming free and, if you're lucky a wolf. Can't wait to return.

LOVE this place! So breathtakingly beautiful and massive. You can drive about 15 miles or so into the park and park on the side of the road to hike around or take pictures. After that you have to pay to take a bus where they will drive you the rest of the way.
Denali has several camp grounds that are in the park and also one or two accessible by car.
I absolutely love it here and come as often as I can.

Wonderful in the fall - nice weather and not many people (especially this year!). We opted to drive as far as you can go into the park (15 miles) so we could stop for photos and hikes. The 8 hour tour for $162 per person did not seem worth it to be trapped on a bus. The park service also has a bus tour for $50 per person, but it was done for the season when we were there (September 12). We stayed 2 nights in nearby Healy (10 miles north) at the White Moose, very nice and the excellent "49th State Brewing" is right across the road. Try the ribs!

Large, beautiful park. I came here to backcountry backpack with friends - the terrain is far more challenging than anywhere else I've been. Aside from the challenging terrain, it was extremely fun and so much more rewarding because of it. Backpacking here is truly a unique experience. There are no paths and you bushwhack your way wherever you want to go. I would return in a heartbeat, but be forewarned that the backcountry will wear you down much faster than you think if you really push yourself.

Downside is that this park is somewhat expensive to take bus tickets inside the park, and only has a few hikes that you can do before paying for bus tickets to get in the park. Beautiful place though, well worth the visit if you can make it here. Weather is sporadic, come for a few days and only expect 1 of 3 days to be nice out.

I love Alaska with its many mountains and wildlife. On my birthday, I hiked Savage River trail and Savage Alpine trail to the top all by my lonesome self. It was windy that I almost got blown over the cliff (thank goodness for hiking poles). I encountered no bears. I am glad I did this. No matter what trail one takes, it's a beautiful place with lots of things to do. If I had a choice, I wish I had stayed there!

If you have the chance to visit this national park...

If you have the chance to visit this national park take it! I don't even want to review it because this place-- as popular as it is-- feels like a local secret you don't want to share. One of the many cool things about this place is how empty it is. During COVID times you practically have the park to yourself and the wildlife. The staff are some of the most knowledgable people I've met and are kind and everyone you meet has a story. If the park reads these reviews I'd like to thank J. Goodell and Kate for making a last minute update to my reservation and saved me a four hour ride back to Anchorage. The staff at Riley Mercantile went above and beyond in making sure everything was taken care of. Bears, moose, caribou, dall sheep, birds and porcupines, frosted mountains, blood orange tundra, and black spruce... and of course Denali itself! This park is a national treasure and you can feel the park change as it prepares for the winter season.

This Miracle Mile has turned into an extremely over marketed tourist spot. Everything is extremely overpriced. There is nothing but buses of tourists going from one bad Tour company to another. If you really want the Alaska experience you have to find a way out of the way law and let them travel you in and out

The most beautiful place on earth! We were blessed to see the peak of Denali twice! Once on our rail trip up to the beautiful Chalet, and again on our tour of this magnificent park. Truly a National Treasure!

Easily the most beautiful place I've ever been. I highly suggest the discovery bus trip out to Wonder Lake, despite it being 11 hours round trip. I also suggest stopping at some point to take a hike. (The Alpine trail at the Eilson visitor center is lovely.) If you do go on the Disco bus, there is a water bottle filling station at Eilson, if you should need it. Bring bear spray, hole responsibly, and go enjoy the untamed wilds.

This is the most beautiful National Park I have visited. What I like best is their approach to preservation: let nature take its course. The rangers teach you to respect the land in all its glory and wildness.
