Krista was rude and kept talking over me over the phone! I asked for a supervisor to call me back twice now and still haven't talked to one. Their coverage is garbage as well, was told 1500 in coverage for my dentist and they only covered $374 and the rest I had to pay for! Rude and disgusting criminals!

I've been dealing with Delta Dental of Illinois for years (15) as a provider and the last few months the service has been terrible. You are not able to reach a representative, you leave a message for a call back and no-one ever calls you back, and they have been numerous mistakes on processing of claims. What is going on?

They have not paid my claim and its been almost 6 months. I would avoid using them if you have the choice. I have had them with several employers and they have always done well. Recently... Past couple years they are terrible.

I pay for family coverage, my three year old just got a teeth cleaning and I get the bill for 103$ saying she is not covered because I didn't fill out paperwork. I never knew I had to do paperwork, I pay for family so I just thought family was covered. So that would be ok if I could just do the paperwork now and get her covered but no, Delta says I have to wait untill next year. So why am I paying for coverage that does not cover me???

Want to cancel coverage? Good luck.

Want to cancel coverage? Good luck.

In early November 2019 I received a letter from Delta Dental about continuing coverage in 2020. The letter stated that I must let them know in writing if I wished to cancel coverage for the coming year, but the letter provided no website link to do that. So, I wrote them a cancellation letter and sent it to the postal address on the letter via USPS mail on November 5. On January 4, 2020 my credit card was billed for January's dental coverage.

On January 5 I attempted to log into my Delta Dental account to dispute the charge, but couldn't due to "account not found." I clicked a Contact Us link and detailed the problem of the invalid charge. January 20 they responded back that they couldn't find my account with the info I'd provided and asked for my Client ID number and birth date. I responded with the requested number on the insurance card and my birth date. Never got a response back.

On January 31 I found and called an account support phone number, spoke with a human named Krista and recounted the saga of the invalid charge. She said there was no record of my cancellation letter, but would forward my concern up the chain. However, she also said there was no guarantee that the charge would be reversed. Last week I had to formally dispute the charge with my credit card issuer. As of today, February 11, the charge is still there.

So, if you are even slightly considering Delta Dental for your dental insurance coverage, don't do it. Their left hand is unaware of their right hand and neither hand appears to be connected to a brain.

They refuse to refund my money for a claim. My dentist office sent the claim twice electronically and once through mail. I called several times and they keep saying they haven t received it. Customer service is very rude and nasty and I m pretty much SOL for 500$.

Terrible customer service which means that you can;t get through to cancel and your'e passed around until someone comes on to tell you you are going to be charge until the end of the month. Sounds like the delays are intentional. I should get my money back in the month that I intended to cancel but couldn't get through. Hard to recommend a company like this.

I lost quite a few brain cells trying to communicate basic, logistic information with customer service in regards to a reimbursement check. The representative was not knowledgeable, spoke unintelligibly and in circles, and made the entire conversation far more complicated than it had to be. I am appalled that- despite my near-perfect dental insurance our employer chose Delta Dental to facilitate anything dental-related. The poor ratings and reviews speak for themselves.

I cant believe my Job have these people as our insurance provider. My teeth has gotten worse due to the long wait time for approvals and copayments are insane. I cant understand what they are here for, they don't pay for anything. I never had so many out of pocket expense in my 47 years. And Im doing most of the work, I know that the institute I work for knows about the complaints but there saving money so why change. The blame goes all the way to the top.,..... Who is Delta Dental anyway? and what makes them think they could stay in business with these types of services

If I could give this place negative stars, I would. I work for a dentist office and can tell you first hand that Delta Dental of Illinois is an absolute JOKE. I have never experienced such horrible customer service and rude representatives. Even the supervisors of this place are consistently nasty.

HORRIBLE - Signed up for individual policy. Name spelled incorrectly in my records. I call. "I'm unable to help you. I'll transfer you." Transferred to a line with recording "pls hold." 15 minute wait and then "Are you calling about Glaucoma survey?" They had no affiliation w/Delta Dental. OK - maybe she dialed the wrong number when transferring. that happens.Call back, (wait, waiting, waiting) Brianna takes the call. I explain. She looks at record and tells me that was not possible I was sent to a wrong number and that the woman who took my call told me she submitted the change. WHAT???? i asked to speak to a supervisor as their prior rep is unethical. I'm placed on hold for 20 minutes. Brianna comes back; explains her system went down. Pls hold longer; did same at 23 minutes and then 27 minutes. i'm on hold as I write this..29 minutes - Ashley the manager takes the call. Uncertain how to read what the 1st person did (so, was Brianna incorrect?) she said she'd try to transfer to enrollment and "maybe they are still open." (It's 4:26 pm - not open AT LEAST until 5?). She also explained that they will send me a form to complete and I'll have to send back. She is unable to transfer me but gives me a number. By now I'm 1 hour into this odyssey. My call is answered. Within 1 minute I'm speaking to Jenny who asks me a few identification questions, changes the spelling and tells me it will take a few minutes for it to update in their system. It's a shame that it took 3 people until I found a well-trained, efficient and professional rep at Delta Dental.

I work at a dentist office. Today I spoke with Kelly about a patient. She was a very poor listener. They will only fax or give you dental bennifits information through a computer. I told her our internet was down multiple times and I don't have a fax machine. She refused to help. I informed the patient she kept saying I could look it up online. She spent more time telling me why she couldn't help me than she would have giving me the two tid bits of information I needed. I'd look elsewhere if you want a insurance plan that will explain how your plan works to your providers.

I work for a dentist's office. I have to call Delta Dental at least once a day. The customer service representatives are consistently rude and uneducated. Average hold times are 30 min to an hour. Representatives will hang up on calls to keep call times down and get through the volume. Representatives refuse to give any information over the phone and insist on sending via fax (they have the ability to send via email but will refuse). The hold up with this practice is 9 times out of 10 they do not send the fax or email so you will be required to callback at least a second time. My record was 5 times in one day for the same patient. Maybe you can beat me.

Really annoying that you cant print an ID card from a computer. Only option is to request a card by mail or download an app to my phone. Neither of those are convenient. My provider wants to see a card , not just be told I have Delta. Why would you take away an option like that?

This is the third time that I've tried to contact Delta Dental to get some issues resolved, and every single time I call I get directed to at least five different people. First you speak with the directory, then you speak with customer service, there's different departments in customer service, and if you're not associated in that persons department, then they direct your call to another person. I literally sat on the phone for over an hour waiting for the most part, and the other parts were me getting my hopes up that I would be able to speak to someone that could actually help me. Nobody knows who to direct the call to in that place. On the other hand, I got this dental insurance about three months ago, and still haven't gotten my dental card/ information in the mail. I'm mortified by the customer service. I'm paying out of pocket for this insurance, so the least you could do is help process your customers needs.

THEY NEED NEGATIVE STARS. On 6/29/2017, my dentist repaired/replaceD crown and build-up problems on 2 teeth for my wife. My wife was in great discomfort and needed the procedure. The dentist performed the procedure well and corrected the problem. I am told that I owe +/- $ 500 because Delta Dental refuses to pay for a procedure that is covered under my Delta Dental insurance. I called Delta Dental of IL several times and they were absolutely zero help. My dentist appealed 3 times with no opportunity to speak to anyone. The procedure was done correctly and in a manner that SHOULD be reimbursed. STAY AWAY FROM DELTA DENTAL OF IL. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY PURCHASING THEIR INSURANCE PRODUCTS!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm giving no stars due to the fact that when we call from a providers office they have a problem giving us the patients information. we have had unfortunate encounters with the same rep who loves to eat and chew loudly in our ear. when we called to speak to a supervisor she has the same attitude that she does not care, therefore her employers don't care.. this is honestly sad i had to get on my personal email just to leave this review!! we hope this gets fixed because we have had to explain to patients that their insurance has problems giving the information and they end up getting fed up.

I work for a provider and have certain pieces of information I am REQUIRED to obtain for a patient's appointment. I dread calling every time because these "customer service advocates" are rude, inconsiderate, and unprofessional. Ashley in particular interrupted me in the middle of discussing a topic. She ,on multiple occasions, refuses to discuss benefits and sends a "fax." One never came and the other was NOT what I needed. She has no professionalism in the business and needs to find another career. This wastes my time because I have to call back MULTIPLE times to get the information I need versus just giving me the information I need the first time. She's terrible.

1.8 stars is being generous....I work for a provider and have never been told to "look it up online" as an answer to a benefit question. Why do you have customer service reps if they cant provide customer service?
