The structure itself is beautiful, an iconic landmark in Saskatoon but it is an old hotel and at the end of the day there is only so much you can do to try and retrofit it with modern conveniences it was never built to accommodate. Hard to maintain. Or control temperatures in some of the larger conference rooms.

We were able to stay at the Bes due to a voucher we received for a free nights stay in a club room. The experience would have been great if our room heat wasn't blasted to 32 degrees at 6am with absolutely no means of turning it off. Hot air was still flowing through the vent several minutes after supposedly turning it off at the thermostat.

We checked out shortly after 7am due to not being able to bear the heat. The front desk staff made both my wife and I feel embarrassed and in their eyes "second class" because we booked our stay on a voucher, even though I had simply suggested maintenance look into the problem and not requested anything to be freely given. Contacted management and was given the exact same line about not being able to help us because we didn't pay. So beware, if you happen to stay on a voucher like we had they will absolutely go out of their way to make you feel like you don't belong there

I booked a room here as a surprise for my 5 year old daughter, and told her we were going to spend the night in a Castle! The moment we pulled up in front she said "I cannot stop smiling!". The service was incredible, our room was gorgeous, and even had the most beautiful turret with a view of the river! I could not have dreamed of a better experience! We will certainly be back again and again!

They've recently renovated and the pool and hottub now salt water and very nice. They also have a steam room and sauna. The room was fine, we were facing downtown and the snow removal crews were out early in the morning and we a bit noisey. It's always fun to stay in one of the oldest and grandest hotels in Saskatoon. The staff was very nice to our children as well.

Beautiful place, but security is lacking and I question their management practices. My laptop and three others were stolen from a locked boardroom last Tuesday when we stepped out for lunch. I was only gone for 20 minutes. The door was locked when we left and when we came back. I have personally heard nothing from management in regards to the incident other than a half-hearted sort of "sorry that happened to you" the day of the incident, and it seems few staff have been informed and guests who are booking meeting rooms are also not being warned to take their valuables with them. It's been a week now and no one with any power to do anything seems to care.

Oh, and don't expect to have a hot shower. Doesn't matter if it's 6 am, noon, or 9 pm - it's gonna be down to sheer luck if you actually get hot water or water pressure. Really has not helped my mood.

Only positives to note is all the housekeeping and frontline staff have been really lovely and the food is good, if pricey.

This hotel is a mixture of classic architecture and modern convenience. I entered into a gorgeous lobby that had it's traditional character retained, but had the option to go sit and have a drink in a modern lounge. The rooms are updated for comfort but retain certain elements of their historic character. If you're lucky you'll be placed in a room that overlooks the recessed courtyard and the river. The view is absolutely gorgeous at sunrise.

I highly recommend this hotel and will 100% be returning.

EDIT: Received a response from a Delta representative about our stay who was very apologetic and offered my girlfriend and I a complimentary night's stay at our next convenience. Rating upgraded from 2 to 4 stars.

Girlfriend and I stayed a single night and had a pretty disappointing experience. Very first thing was that you have to pay an extra $ 15 for parking if you use the hotel's own lots, even if you're staying the night. Had to move the car down the street and find parking in the busiest part of downtown. Next we called guest services for a second bath robe to our room because there was only one in the closet and whoever took the call basically said "we don't have any to give". We went down to the pool and noticed there wasn't any staff working the counter at the pool and not a clean towel in sight. Another hotel guest that had already used the pool approached us and said they had been waiting for fresh towels for a long time. The pool water looked murky, the sauna wasn't hot/turned on, the steam room door wouldn't close properly. Tried to enjoy the hot tub and a paper coffee cup appeared out of the filter system. Leaving we also discovered a wet, dirty band aid. Got back to the room and called for a robe again and the response this time was that they would be up right away. Never did we actually receive that robe. I really don't like to complain but if you're paying the price for a room at a 4 star hotel, you have a few minimal expectations. When we brought the troubles with the pool to a front desk attendant's attention he was very unapologetic and arrogant. BUT THE ROOM ITSELF WAS GREAT! Maybe we caught the place on a bad day but the management just seemed awful. Definitely did not feel like a 4 star experience.

It is definitely a historical landmark in Saskatoon. The building is big and unique so easy to find. location is good too. The only reason I cannot give 5stars is I saw ants few times while I stayed. Luckily I have not seen them near bed, but close to TV. For somebody it would not be a big deal, but it wasn't happy experience. Otherwise, staffs were helpful, bar was nice too.

I recently visited the historic Delta Bessbourgh and was fascinated with all of the legendary legacy of this building. The bellhop, Dylan, was so gracious to take my group on a tour of the hotel which was so intriguing and educational. Kudos to the hotel for hiring this engaging man and most grateful for his time to show us around.

I would never ever stay here or recommend anybody to. my buddy decided to stay here as one would think that the Delta has a very high reputation for quality but this location has proved otherwise. My friend used their valet service thinking his truck would be secure and items secured inside the vehicle under video surveillance but had thousands of dollars of goods stolen out of his truck. After review of video surveillance, and no evidence of a break in, it only leaves one option as to what happened, he was robbed by the people working the valet service and hasn't received any sort of compensation... The unprofessionalism of the responses from management has been awful. Would rather stay on the streets than here...

Work Christmas function in a small function room off the normal convention floor. Hotel provided for, drinks and AV. Food was excellent, service was lovely. Ambience was my only complaint - lighting was a bit harsh and room was a little cramped.

This is one of the grand hotels of our country, and Delta is doing a great job of maintaining the elegance and historical feeling that goes with this lovely building. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable, while exhibiting many of the features that remind us of the traditions associated with travel in the last century. I would love to give the experience more stars, but breakfast at the Garden Court Cafe definitely put us off. I am all for reuse and recycle, but, when we asked for more cream for our coffee, the server turned around to the just-vacated table across from us and, matter-of-factly, moved their cream container onto our table to satisfy our request. All we could think of was the couple at the neighbouring table laughing and talking over their breakfast and spraying their saliva over the cream pitcher! As we sat mulling over this thought, we began to have another line of thought, namely, if that is how they reuse cream in front of house, what do they reuse in back of house? Whose table did our first creamer come from (was it from the man sitting at the corner table who d been sneezing)? On our next visit (and we will surely come again to enjoy this beautiful, historic setting), we will plan for breakfasts out.

I had a river view room which was excellent. The housekeeping service was outstanding doing little things such as leaving notes thanking me for my stay. I ate in the lounge and my steak was prepared exactly as I would expect. Great stay.

I've always wanted to stay here and it didn't disappoint. The service, impeccable. The room and view, outstanding. Overall experience, just what I had hoped for. Also, the brunch was out of this world.... try the waffles!

All in all, this hotel wasn't for me. There are many "character" hotels I've stayed in that are charming and elegant. I would describe the Delta Bessborough as simply "old". The thermostat and phone in my room were broken and the elevators were frightening. Other broken things in the hotel included the heaters at the patio restaurant, one of the only places I could order food during my stay. The photos of this hotel online were misleading and make the property look nicer than it is. I was also surprised to have to pay for parking in such a small city, and even more surprised to find a parking ticket on my window when I departed. The front desk took care of the ticket, but nonetheless, an inconvenience. I will be heeding the advice of locals next time and won't stay here again.

Very classic hotel

Very classic hotel
Especially in the small swimming pool that is separated from the ice and snow, don't have a feeling.
Healthy breakfast is recommended.

I just wanted to share a negative experience my mom had with you guys today. She is very ill and has many health issues and had just left a doctors appointment. She stopped in the lobby to ask if she could use the restroom and was told that she should walk all the way to midtown. I get that it s not a public restroom, but where is the humanity, when an older woman, clearly in distress really needed to use your bathroom and you told her to walk blocks away to find one? I ve stayed at your hotel before and loved it but this has definitely made me look at your establishment in a different light. She has done two knee replacements and walks very slowly, and it isn t without pain and discomfort. Thank goodness the nice people at Hudson s were kind enough to allow her in without hesitation. Shame on you.

This hotel is absolutely beautiful. The staff is very friendly, the rooms appear cozy, and it's in the heart of downtown Saskatoon. Unfortunately for us, we had one of the worst experiences with a hotel that we've ever had.

I booked a night out with my wife for her birthday, including a baby sitter for our kids, dinner reservations, a show on Broadway, hotel reservations so we wouldn't have to drive home, and breakfast in the morning. We checked in at 5:30 PM, noticed the room was 25.5 degrees celcius, so we adjusted the temp to read 18 degrees celcius. When we returned to the room just after midnight, the temperature hadn't changed despite the rattling room fan circulating the same air.

When we called to ask why it was so hot, we were told that the AC had been shut off for the season, something no one shared with us when we checked in, and to open the window. We did, but it was so noisy outside due to Hudson's Tap House being down below, that we couldn't sleep and shut the window. At 2:45 AM, we called the front desk because neither of us could sleep in the now sweltering 26 degrees celcius room, and that we were checking out. The night was now completely ruined.

Although this hotel is a beautiful landmark in the city, we will never stay here again, nor would we recommend it to anyone. You can take pictures from outside, visit the lobby, or have Sunday brunch there (which is amazing), but stay somewhere where they can control the comfort of the room. Also, because we booked through Expedia, we were told we could not get a refund, despite paying to stay the night in a hotel room where we spent less than 3 horrible hours. Please consider this next time before booking hotels on Expedia.
