Staff try to be friendly, unfortunately the place is going down in service.
Overpriced and not worth the money that you have to spend.
Facilities are becoming old and dated.
Nothing to do and only sometimes they have entertainment.
They used to have nightly entertainment, and a decent bar. Now nothing

Pros:

Pros:
Nice, big, beautiful resort. The green of golf courses against the lake makes for some gorgeous views. The 3 restaurants at the Pavilion offer great views. Staff is friendly, service is good. Nice beach area for little kids to play in.

Cons:
BUYING BEWARE re: BAYSHORE building. No images of the exterior facade are shown on the website. When booking, I thought it was one of the buildings they show. Nope. This building looked like one of those very old 3-4 story Toronto apartment buildings that are very dingy and dirty looking. It was a huge let down, seeing what I was walking into. The walk-out floor is also quite dingy and dirty looking. The room was okay, nice big size, nothing to complain about. Limited channels on TV though.

My biggest issue was with their "balcony" room. I paid extra for it (and it turned out to just be a sliding glass door where a window would normally be) so I could have a nice view. The view of the lake and small beach area outside would have been perfect, were it not for the millions of cobwebs and dead bugs on the outside of this balcony door. It was obvious the outside had not been cleaned for a very very long time. I have never seen that many cobwebs and that many dead bugs in one spot, and I was born in a 3rd world country. This for me was a huge downside, as on these trips I am all about the view from my room, as I like relaxing in the room looking out towards a beautiful view after a busy work week.

Further, the condo building right next door had construction going on, which meant I constantly had to hear construction noises. Well..so much for travelling 2.5 hours from Toronto to avoid noise pollution. I understand this is necessary but maybe mention it on the site when people are booking?

Excellent resort. Setting is very nice, staff is very friendly. Good choice of restaurants, both on-site and nearby in Huntsville. Plenty of activities to do, as well as less then 10 minutes to Arrowhead provincial Park.

The restaurants were delicious for a good price and our suite was very spacious and comfortable. Also ski rentals were easy to do and it was nice to be able to keep our skis for the entire stay.Very cozy and comfortable hotel. Great food at the restaurant Pool and spa was a bonus.A great variety of dishes at the breakfast dining room. The restaurant was superb food and very friendly staff.

The resort itself is nice but the customer service is horrendous. They were very clueless. I made a booking to transfer rooms but the next day when I called them to ask about the room they said they have no record of my transfer booking. Only after pressing them many times were they able to find my transfer booking. The day of transfer the room was not ready until much later in the afternoon even though they said we were on a priority list. When I called them to inquire about my room, they would not answer. when I went to the front desk I was told its not ready and they will contact me when it s ready. When asked for an ETA, they could not give me that information. Literally after I drove away from the hotel right after, I got the notification my room is ready but I made plans to go elsewhere instead. That causes a lot of inconvenience on my part. I then realized they checked me out with my stuff in the old room still inside even though they told me I would have my old room until i moved into the new one. And then there was a huge line of people checking-in when I went to pick up my key. They told me to wait in line to pick up my key, which would be over an hour wait even though I just needed my new keys. Only after expressing how disappointed I was with my experience they gave me the key in 2 seconds, which otherwise would have been an hour wait. The new room also had balcony chairs missing.

Our week at Deerhurst was a great disappointment after having heard such great reviews. It is ridiculously expensive and even charges $35 per room per day for "resort fee" which they claim is for activities. We played on the Lakeside golf course which was in poor condition but had to pay green fees for that. There was no evening entertainment except for a teenage type video. There was only 1 menu which did not change at all and was at 3 of the restaurants. 1 restaurant was only open 3days a week and another supposedly 5 days but 2 of those days we could not get in because they cater to big groups. The bedroom was comfortable and the staff friendly. I would certainly not recommend it.

Our family stayed at the Summit lodge. Just a heads up - There is no elevator! Otherwise, our room had a kitchenette and BEAUTIFUL view!!!! Room had a king size bed and pullout couch. Plates, silverware, cups, pots and pans provided. My kids enjoyed the pool nearby. So many activities for the kids. Our family enjoyed our week stay. We would def go back again!!!

Very brief summary: (for $320 per night for a 2 bedroom 'upscale' condo)
- stains on ALL the towels
- door lock was broken; couldn't even lock our door at night
- mold around the windows
- rust and mold around the entrance door
- light at entrance door hanging by the wires
- room smelled of must and at other times like sewage
- no daily housekeeping. We had to walk down the street to take our own garbage out
- main entrance/reservations also smelled of must and taxidermy
- dinner at the resort cost $150 for 2 chicken nuggets/fries for kids, an overcooked pot roast, and a dry chicken breast. Add $5 for a glass of iced tea.

We own a dance studio and travel all across the province and into the U.S. for competitions. I have NEVER seen such a downtrodden absolute dump of a 'resort' like this place for $320 a night. I was incredibly disappointed.

What a beautiful place with an amazing view. Resort has a lot of amenities available and a lot of activities for kids for the summer. The room we stayed in was very spacious with a separate living room however the washroom was very tiny for the room size. The room had a balcony with a nice view.

The hotel has a rustic elegent look and the staff are very friendly and courteous.

The beach is very beautiful and has a lot of activities to enjoy. The resort has 2 golf courses, multiple restaurants, arcade, kids space and 2 pools(indoor and outdoor). They also have various hourlong accommodations. The place is huge and well kept.

The view is amazing with the gold course around the resort and combined with hiking trails and on the path to the beach.

Our only quarrel to give this place 3 instead of 5 stars was that there was a mouse infestation issue at one of the restaurants and it doesn t look like the issue was taken and addressed seriously. We saw multiple mouse and when advised of the staff it was a very lackcluster response.

I came here for a work event. The facilities are well maintained and clean. They offer great activities for the all ages. The beach is a bit small, but clean. I stayed in a three bedroom condo and it had a great view of the lake and the golf course. The rooms were very spacious.

Its an OK place to have some outdoor time, but don't expect much from the staff. 2 of our towels had black and brown stains on them, so did the armchair in our room. We ordered curbside pickup one night from their restaurant, and they accidentally delivered the meal, and charged us the automatic 15% and $5 delivery. I called to tell them I didn't want to pay the $5 delivery fee for a delivery I didn't ask for, and the young guy on the phone said he tried to refund it, and didn't know how. I emailed reception about it and they ignored the email. Like I said, lower your expectations of this place.

I'm a photographer, and I went to Deerhurst because staying at the resort were 16 clients of mine whom each required headshots.

Thanks to Nick the concierge's excellent service, who went above and beyond the call of duty to assist me in successfully making my photo session happen, my clients left happy.

Also notable is Dylan from the sporting desk who I first spoke with to inquire as to who I needed to speak with to make my shoot happen.

I definitely recommend this resort to others.

Thanks Deerhurst,
Daniel Camer - Toronto Photographer

we stayed for our honeymoon, upon our arrival the main building was beautiful, we were told we were staying in the Bayshore building which is definitely run down, the house keeping was terrible, when we arrived on Monday there were dishes in the lobby, our room had cob webs between the sliding door that looked onto the lake, there were bugs in the bathroom and the fridge was so small could only fit a couple drinks. we paid a resort fee which was charged to everyday stay so 4 days at $55/day to use the canoes, and other things on the resort, I don't mind paying Im not cheap, little did we know we couldn't go out of this tiny bay which one half was the golf course and the other side was a boat dock yay tons to explore, let your guest explore the beautiful lake you are on you have charged them $55 per day anyways. on our way out to dinner because the resort was to expensive my now husband set his empty beer can with the dishes, ( I drove to dinner), come Thursday the dishes were still here and so was the beer can along with now a bag of garbage. we saw the house keeping ladies everyday cleaning ( or half cleaning the rooms) so why was this all left behind? aside from them cleaning the rooms there were absolutely not a single staff in the building. For the money you pay for everything on the resort you would think they would include a comp breakfast come on I could say a crappy hotel and they do free breakfast. There was still construction which we were not told about upon booking we are a construction family so that would have been a deal breaker for us as we here it everyday. when I mentioned everything at the front desk upon check out they didn't seem to care. considering it was our honeymoon I was definitely disappointed. On the website it also said they had fly boarding which my husband was really looking forward to doing, well they don't and we were told probably not this year. why would you advertise you have stuff if you don't.

Great resort with friendly staff. Do anticipate with busy times like march break the hotel staff are very strict on check in times of 4pm and checkout at 11am. Still come early as you are able to take advantage of the facilities. There is a rock climbing wall, arcade, swimming pool, and various indoor activities like arts and crafts, children cooking with chef and during the time we came for march break they used the conference room and filled it with several inflatables along with some table games. The pool could be heated as although our children didnt notice it was quite cold especially during the winter months and no natural sunlight/warmth beaming through the windows. The eclipse buffet is a great buffet dining oltion and kids under 4 eat free.

Deerhurst is a sprawling, northern oasis. I was attending for team building exercises and Mark O'Dell and his team made our afternoon one that I will never forget. Golf, tennis, beach volleyball, swimming, escape rooms, water sports, arcade, rock climbing and more. It's everything you would ever want to do during a getaway and it's all in one place!

Okay. Not much around the area. Rooms are okay but a little overpriced. Winter activities are limited and not worth the costs. Golf course is pretty vast and good for the summer. There are many better choices within the area.

Not as good as it used to be back when it was a CP Hotel. Lots of noise from adjacent rooms, parking was a disaster (winter, snow not cleared, not enough parking for show audiences), food was ok.

Just recently came back from the Civic Long weekend stay at the resort. We booked the Summit Lodge which are larger suites and in a higher category than the standard rooms. Surprisingly being in a higher-category (more $) standard housekeeping was NOT included. Having a young child it would have been very convenient if someone came to tidy up and/or put our room together, even just replenish our towels without having to call guest services and wait forever for someone to show up.

While we did think the grounds and property itself is very nice, the service overall was just very mediocre. The hotel was run by teens who simply don't have experience in life to know what true customer service is all about.

Upon arrival we were not given our room or offered any accommodations even though we arrived only half hour before our check-in time of 4pm. Instead we were asked to leave our # for the staff to text us when the room was ready. No body called or texted. Only after coming back just a few minutes before 4pm which we were still told nothing can be "guaranteed" till 4pm resulted in us getting more firm with the staff, which led to them offering a similar room with a notification to transfer later on when our real room was ready. # 1 you should offer this without us having to get frustrated and get more firm with your staff (it shouldn't be a wild card), # 2 if you say you will text or call follow through. Twice upon arrival empty promises.

The room was good enough as it was similar to what we reserved (minus a few small hickups which we again alerted the staff at the front desk but no body bothered to come replenish the supplies or check on) we were too tired from the long trip and wanted to rest and start to enjoy our weekend.

The next day we took a shuttle to the local petting farm but unfortunately a shuttle never came back to pick us up. After having the staff radio one in and waiting restlessly for over half an hour - one of the nice staff working at the farm offered to give us a ride back in her own personal car which we appreciated but still left us frustrated and unimpressed.

Another important point to mention - when initially reserving the Summit Lodge we were told on the phone we will receive a golf view which in fact was incorrect as the view was a partial view of the back of the property instead of the parking lot which is apparently considered an upgrade and more money?! Overall it is sad most of the staff who are in their teens and perhaps with very little life experience, are just not able to provide the customer service to be expected from such an establishment that charges just as much as competitive resorts like Taboo Muskoka or JW Marriott Muskoka. For the same $ we'd rather just visit those places next time and truly feel the customer service to be expected at that price point.

Activities are not available when you want to do them. Pool is disgusting. There was a pool light floating in the pool with electrical wires. No one available to help. No snowshoes available. Food was very expensive and not very good. Rooms were comfortable but dated. Staff does not seem to be able to accomodate large groups. Completely unprepared for family day, not worth the money

The resort is beautiful. The staff is really knowledge, kind and helpful. This was our first time here, and it was great. The resort has lots to do for all ages. We did our Babymoon here and definitely come back next year. PS: The food is exceptional.

This place is the epitome of pathetic. First, they don t have Room Service for food, which is sort of understandable because the Pavillion is usually always full but still not great. The lines at the front desk to check in takes very long. Secondly, the Room Service Cleaning is stupid funny. Ever heard of early? Well Deerhurst Resort sure hasn t. If you are at the end of the hall be prepared for your room to be cleaned around 6pm. They have one cleaner on every other floor and they move slower than sloths. When they cleaned our room they didn t even supply fresh towels, cups or coffee supply s. All of the employees are very lazy and rude when you ask for anything as small as another glass of water. The hotel has no microwaves or snack machines for small food if you are hungry after everything is closed. And if you have any problems in your room, well think twice about getting help because the front desk doesn t even pick up calls from the phone in the room. The employees have a shorter antention span than the amount of sleep your going to get because the entire place it made out of metal and it has no insulation, be prepared for unsupervised 6 year old kids to be running and jumping down every hallway in the resort as well as people slamming their doors as well as bumping their Televisions up to 100 volume. Please do not come here.

I was really disappointed in my stay here. We booked a romantic weekend getaway for or Christmas present to each other, and chose this resort after a lot of research because of the rentals that were included in the resort fee. The weather was too warm for the cross country talks so we decided to snow shoe. Unfortunately, the resort kept providing me with broken snow shoes. Ones where the straps kept springing open and then one the was missing a buckle. I recommend going somewhere else and renting equipment from a reputable place as the shoes here were garbage and the staff were not very helpful.

Getting here and seeing the views and the amenities I liked what I saw. I didn't even care that we had to wait an hour and a half before the expected check-in time. I understand that things now take time and I like that they're taking precautions, like the drive-thru check-in.

Entering the room I wasn't so impressed as the room smelled strange and cleaning wasn't what I expected, especially as we go through a pandemic. Not to mention that the bedding didn't seem to fit the mattress for some reason. Made us feel icky.

I called front desk and they sent the cleaning supervisor. The front counter and supervisor were very nice and apologetic but he really didn't do anything other than pick up the hairclip on the lamp and the water bottle cap in the corner. We didn't bother since we were trying to get settled with the baby. I just did some cleaning myself just to be safe.

I usually wait until I've stayed somewhere to submit a review but I couldn't wait given the experience so far. I wish they would have paid attention to the details because everything outside the room was beautiful.

It was located in a beautiful geographic Oma. The outside of the resort seems a little rough to the eyes at first but the inside of our room was very modern and updated. We enjoyed the very nice pool, yummy restaurant, and amazing spa. Staff there is very friendly and professional.
