De Vere Hotels - Mottram Hall Review

This is a lovely hotel in a wonderful setting. Hotel facilities include a championship golf club, gym and spa. The hotel is very busy at weekends with weddings which can impact (slightly) on levels of service but not enough to spoil the our stay.

A attend for a conference. The service and rooms were very good.

I attended a wedding reception here the food was fabulous the hall and surrounding gardens were opulent and luxurious a truly fantastic venue

Stayed in the Lawrence suite which was a great size, well equipped and lovely and clean. the staff were friendly and helpful and the restaurant, spa, and champagne bar were all excellent!

The spa day was lovely albeit the pool was very cold. The treatments were lovely. However, the afternoon tea and service was very poor!! I have given 3 star for the Spa only...

Fantastic setting with stunning grounds however don't expect much from the food or the staff. From stale bread used for sandwiches to overcooked main meals I can't believe they have an AA rosette. Room service doesn't answer the phone so go through reception however be prepared for a wait of about an hour for a sandwich longer for cooked food. The staff are aloof and unhelpful. The waiting staff are poorly trained and unprofessional. This could be a fantastic place if they sorted out the food and trained their staff.

Stayed here last night after a Conference. Whilst the rooms are nice enough, the walls are as thin as those found in a 1970's Barratt House. It wasn't just the guys snoring from the next room that kept me awake, it was the noise of residents in rooms around me flushing their toilets. Nice food and staff but the sound proofing was appalling. Wouldn't stay again. Shame as looks lovely from the outside.

Relax in luxury while staff tend to your needs, excellent hotel for that well needed break.

Brilliant, lovely place to visit set in a lovely area. I've been twice to Mottram Hall first as a staying guest for a family wedding a year ago which was amazing, catered for all, rooms were fantastic as was the food the layout and facilities which brings me to my second visit last weekend with my daughter for a spa day, again the facilties are amazing, while my daughter was having her spa treatment I enjoyed the pool, sauna and steam rooms until she joined me, overall a very satisfied customer.

Everything you could possibly want from a 4* hotel and spa.

We stayed at Mottram Hall on our Wedding Night and they were brillant.
We were able to drop a car off the day before and didn't check in until gone midnight.
We were able to look around the rooms prior to booking and so we were able to book a specific room with a roll top bath and patio area overlooking the lake.
The hotel even booked us a taxi for the wedding night but unfortunately the taxi com pany that they used did not turn up and did not answer when I called but this was the taxi firm at fault as I had confirmed the booking myself.
When we arrived at the hotel they had made two swans on the bed out of towels and placed white petals on the bed in a heart shape which was a nice touch.
We had complimentary snack pots, bottles of water and a bottle of wine plus the usual tea and coffee.
The room was lovely and clean, very impressed.
We were able to have breakfast in bed but chose to go to the restaurant which again was lovely, we were shown to a table and the breakfast was self serve but plenty on offer to suit all.
We also had use of the Spa facilities the next day which was ace, spotless and alot of different facilities on offer. Definately recommend.

FOOD - was amazing and also were the staff serving in the resturant. very pleasant and helpful.
FACILITIES - GREAT along with the staff.

ROOM - TERRIBLE my girlfriend and i stayed in NOVEMBER 2012 for our anniversary after checking into the room was a mess,

A long crack in the studded wall in corner of room which you couldn't miss,

The bed hadn't been made properly,

The bathroom wall was covered in cracks with one right along the wall, marks a wall full of it.

and when we reported the room condition we were simple given an apology, so when we returned home we rang to conplain in which we gave details for whom ever deals will conplaints to await a response as this person was unavailable at the time, apparently he was sent an email about the situation, it is now 26/5/13 still awaiting response which is absolutely astonishing from a HOTEL of this suposed level, it spoilt the weekend and is a great same as apart from the events we really enjoined our stay.

This was my first time at Mottram Hall l was very impressed with the course and hopefully will be able to return

Loved our time, nothing was too much trouble, food, staff and stay were lovely. New spa facilities were great (even though you couldn't use some of the rooms due to Covid) Spa treatment was amazing. I brought my auntie for her birthday and she was made up with everything can't wait to come back.

Lovely time here with my friend, I treated her to a spa day for her birthday. Nice facilities although it was undergoing renervation when we went. There weren't enough beds by the pool for us so we had to wait while some were brought in from outside. We had lunch (lovely) then I realised we'd not been given our glass of champagne which was included in the package so I asked for it and it was duly brought to us. Treatments were nice, we were put in a room together for our massage and facial which was fine as we're good friends but might not have been a comfortable situation for everyone. They casually mentioned it as we were going into the room so not exactly an opportunity to say no.

I have been coming here for a few years on an annual basis. The food has improved a lot and the Spa and grounds are superb. Just make sure you get a refurbished room. The hotel and food are fair value too.

Stayed on a golfing break with 40 ladies. All was perfect, friendly helpful staff and superb accommodation. Enjoyed the adjoining golf course. An excellent place to stay.

Nice venue and spa. Staff are fantastic and really helpful. Can get very busy with the golf crowd.

I stayed overnight in a double bedroom, room 329 - I was in the hotel for a corporate event that evening. At around 23:00 in the evening, the pipes and the radiator in the room were making a banging noise and this continued every 45 seconds, sometimes a bit quieter, but sometimes annoyingly louder all night - after not being able to sleep for many hours hoping the last bang was the last one, I complained to reception and had to change rooms at 04:00 in the morning, so didn't have any sleep at all. The most annoying thing is actually the customer service in the venue - I spoke to the Duty Manager the next day to outline my huge disappointment and concern about having no sleep and asked for the Hotel Manager to give me a call and was told I would receive a call back the same day. 5 days later, still no call. So, that really sums up how this hotel values its customers - or actually doesn't value its customers. Extremely poor customer care.

Nice... But they don't provide the laundry service on time

I should have added some details...Great course. Two very different 9's. back a lot tougher. But everything easy, getting on, pro shop, food and drink.

Unfortunately this was not good. As a course it has real potential but it was in appalling condition. The fairways and the rough were the same length. Also the greens were very patchy and had worm casts all over them. I dread to think when they were last cut. If they did some work on the course it could be amazing. Such a shame.

Went to the spa, little disorganised but was brilliant day

Went to play golf only. Great staff, excellent pro shop, and the course was in fantastic condition. Good value for money, although a bit pricey in the bar.

Booked a spa deal and hotel night through spa breaks. Great value for money and a great visit for what was included in the deal.
Very pricey for the extras such as tea though and the room was next to a cupboard with loud noises.

Played really well and has recovered well from the summer heat.

Came here with my mum for afternoon tea for my birthday, food and service was excellent the waitress called ewa was absoulty lovely and went out of her way to make it a special experience will definitely be returning

I attended mottram hall for a round of golf. The course was nice and was everything I expected it to be. The only downside was although there was at least 30 buggys waiting outside, the club house wouldn't let us rent one as he said they were all reserved. That was a disappointment as when we'd finished there were the same amount of buggys still sat there. Apart from that all was good.

Great hotel in a fantastic setting. Stayed here for a work meeting and was perfect. Had all the facilities you could hope for and the service was outstanding.

Met a friend in the Claret Jug for food and drinks.
Pretty poor drinks selection.
Food was just about acceptable.
Clientele were quite low brow and noisy; watching football on TV.
Was basically an overpriced Sky Sports pub - not what you'd expect at Mottram Hall.
Only plus point was the friendly staff, otherwise would have been 1 star.

We went to play golf, great location and a very good looking course. The front 9 was a massive contrast to the back 9, which made it much more enjoyable to play!

Popped in for a coffee and catch up with some friends in the golf club house.
The food is always excellent but the coffee is 'OK'. Its a great place for a quick snack or lunch.

The location is abit out of the way but I quite like that, looks like it has a good good course but I don't play gold so I can't really advise. The welcome was ok, the room is nice and relaxing but nothing amazing, the bed and pillows are super comfy though. The surround and scenery is really really nice. The food is not that good, quite bland, but I like my spice so that's why I say that. The spa facilities are really good! The massage options are good too, that side of things are the main reason people visit I guess.

The venue is lovely. The grounds very well maintained and the staff very attentive. They looked after me very well and I would love to go back.

Mottram Hall is an Absolutely beautiful place to have a wedding Reception.

Loved the decoration, cleanliness and the staff which is very polite and ready to help anytime. Good food in the restaurant, too.

We had a nice spa day there. We started with a great massage. After this season we relaxed in the sauna and pool. There was a small down side, in the relax area are to less possible space if you stay there on a Friday.

We went for a relaxing day and had a great time. Only gripes are a lack of sunbeds around the pool for the number of customers having treatments and guests and broken lockers in men's changing rooms. Everything else is great.

This was once a really great amazing place. the lack of investment and budget offers pretty much sums where this place is going. There is a lot of parking and the food is about average. Customer service is terrible

Golf was very enjoyable. Rooms and service were below what I would expect. Food options for large groups was relatively average. The venue did have some lovely bars and areas to relax in.

Lovely and staff very helpful special mention to Jane-marie, ex Qantas flight attendant. She was the best.

Hotel was nice but it was clearly over booked and under staffed. The spa/thermal suite was very busy and did not have enough staff on to clean up, therefore was grimey and not what you would expect from this type if place. In both of the outdoor thermal experience rooms were large cobwebs which showed the level of attention to cleanliness. We had booked dinner in the restaurant for 8 at time of booking the hotel. This was confirmed at the desk when we checked in, but when we arrived for dinner they had no record of it. From what we heard from other guest we were not the only ones this happened to. This led to the restaurant being over subscribed. Therefore lots of people were waiting long periods between course which led some guest to leave.

Great, spa break Kind, friendly not to mention attentive staff. Great place would recommend!

Gracious and stately surrounding s. We attended a wedding day and were impressed with the building and the grounds.

Received a overnight stay for Christmas from my kids ,aware that the spa was closed for refurbishment. Had dinner in the main restaurant whic was overly priced i ordered the sirloin which was tuff as old boots, no fillet on the menu? the staff in the restaurant clueless you should not clear any plates from the table till all have finished i could go on with other points suffice to say i have spent the last 45 years in the hospitality business so i do have a idea about what im talking about.
