Was fantastic to get kicked off the beach for a wedding, then the pier for photos and were not allowed near the cove. No hot water for 3days and reception couldn't have cared less about the numerous complaints. The best part of the weekend was leaving with the flu. Management was too busy to see us upon our departure and paying of the bill which was unbelievable .

I do not recommend. First point of contact was unprofessional. I was attempting to sort out month, (not exact date) to find DayDream Island Resort were uncooperative. This was through the Luxury Escape deal. I explained having to book airline travel was also important to know the exact month I could select. Unfortunately I was given the run around. As a result I will not be visiting this resort. Be careful of Luxury Escape deals because they treat you like a second class citizen.

ABSOLUTELY ONE OF THE WORST HOLIDAYS IN MY ENTIRE LIFE.
outrageously over priced ,terrible food , bad quality lacking flavour and not variety a lot of friend and over cooked food worse than maccas. outdates , faded and not even as good as a low star back packers. mostly rude service, service staff bored or over worked . rooms terrible , smelly , not clean enough , paid for coral room , no better than other rooms and not an uninteruppted view. kangaroos in poor health and unhealthy to be around. spa cold . no white beaches , not like in picture. food triple what it is anywhere else. no access except to the resturants they open and no room service at all even if sick.
really I spent a fortune and it honestly was so disappointing. I tried to complain and was brushed off and then wrote and got A REPLY THAT aslo brushed me off . if you read the reveiws in the bad section you will see the same as me and the reponses are always a brush off .I sent another letter and no reply so far.
I was NOT the only one who was seriously disappointed.IT IS a total rip off aimed at those international tourists who might come AND NOT KNOW any better and never come back. Due to this they seem to be not worried about who they have and providig real service , it is not even 2 star . and I believe owned overseas . I would also add the response by management was truly disturbing. I slo note I have a diability and asked for help and none was offered , esp in ordering food , no reoom service , so had to rely on a buggy back and forth for a feed . TERRIBLE.
WE NEED medical support at one stage , the nurse was mean and grumpy and was more interested in a conversation with the young man at reception.
1 only gave it one star as it wont let u post unless u give it a rating .I give it a NON RATING , SAVE YOU MONEY do NOT GO.

We were just visiting for a few hours, but it all looked very pleasant and impressive. The collection of fish and other animals around the resort was a nice touch, allowing us to see sharks, sting rays, fish, and wallabies. It was a bit of a hike from the hotel to the shops/restaurants at the other end of the island, but it was a pleasant walk (excluding the golf carts running us off the road a few times - it really could have been wider). The outside of the resort looked a little old, but the interior was very nice and maintained. Seemed like a nice venue for a resort getaway.

Depressing.. Glad we only stayed for a couple of hours, and that was 90 minutes too long, waiting for the boat to take us out of there. No beach, only rubble and rocks. Hotel lobby area was stark white, filled with plastic plants.. And "feature "window shutters.. Only saving grace was the reef areas.. Otherwise, couldn't see any reason to stay there.

Loved the resort and had an amazing time. However some of the facilities are a bit dated and could do with a revamp. What I did find disappointing was the management of the buffet breakfast, tables not being cleared promptly therefore families etc were struggling to find seating or a clean table. This I feel is down to poor management of this area having observed it over 4 mornings. Otherwise the staff were friendly and helpful.

Really enjoyed our stay on the island. The pool and the facilities were great. We stayed in the deluxe king room with terrace which was very modern and nice.
Some of the food at the restaurants were average for the price. Most staff members were friendly however some gave off an impression that they hated being there.
Overall we had a great stay and would return.

Great resort, lots of kangaroos to see in the area, super great indoor area like on the reef with rays, sharks and other fish, unfortunately the island was only 50% accessible, the rest of it was closed due to construction work, food was also ok, unfortunately we were At the Corona start time there was already a lot shut down (water sports, bars, ...)

The mermaid seaview restaurant is the only nice place on the island.
The resort feels like its straight out of the sixties. It is a Very very expensive resort. The food is bland and expensive.
While they claim use of kayaks and other equipment is free, the use of all equipment is limited to certain times and where you can go.
Travelled here for my daughters wedding which was a complete disgrace from the wedding planners indifference to the complete lack of professionalism on the part of ALL staff at EVERY level.
This was the worst and most expensive experience of my life.

The location and the island are great. They have just been ruined by poor management of the guest services and the guest experiences. I actually felt sorry for the reception staff having to face numerous complaints from quests that they were powerless to address.
The food was very poor, and the choice of food outlets was frustrated by the rotation of different outlets over different days as outlets were closed on random days.
Some of the staff were good, but most were very poor. The people at the activities desk and some of the wait staff were the only ones worth feeding.
If the owners spent more time and money on looking after their quests they may find that they would have more money to spend on refurbishing a tired but functional set up.

Was a great trip with my family and had a great time looking at all sorts of fish and wildlife.the only complaint I could think of is that the bars and such are a bit short staffed causing customers to have to wait for long periods

My partner and I are currently staying on Daydream island. I could not fault anything! The staff are amazing, the facilities are clean and comfortable and there's always something to do! Or somewhere to relax we are loving our stay here so far, it's been incredible.

Stay was underwhelming! Would we recommend - No!

Stay was underwhelming! Would we recommend - No!
Our family of 3 recently stayed for a five night package stay on Daydream Island. Weather was awesome and the resort grounds and lagoon were lovely. The room was clean and for the most part the staff were friendly. However that is where the positive experience ends.
The resort is unfortunately under resourced, the hospitality staff are not trained, still in training and lacking the experience of providing adequate customer support.
There is a small poorly stocked convenience store which is over-priced and does not allow you to grab a cheaper snack option.
The rooms were not stocked with resort information including menu options for the restaurants or activities on or around the island.
Day trips to leave the island are astronomically priced! For our family of 3 to leave the island for a day trip to Hamilton island or Airley was around $240!
The food was average and over priced. Definitely not worthy of a 4-5 star rating.
This island is still under construction and clearly needs more amenities, activities to be worthy of a 4-5 star rating including restocking of water activities and being able to offer beach shoes to all guests as the beaches on Daydream are all coral beaches and cannot be walked on barefoot!
The kicker for us was upon check-out we were handed our final account and there were incorrect charges and package inclusions were not deducted. Luckily we queried this and had over $300 removed from our bill. There was no excuse given for this error other than a computer glitch which we all know is bs. This left a sour taste in our mouth as we departed and did not end what was already an underwhelming holiday, on a good note.
Overall island still needs work and the staffing and customer service needs a lot of attention. If anyone from the resort is reading this please remove the fake plants surrounding the main building, they look cheap and nasty and spoil the real lush greenery on the island.

If you want to get away from everything then this is not a bad spot... Not much was open and there was not much to do, but that is exactly what we wanted... Sunsets and sunrises were pretty amazing. Food was a little expensive and we had to book for everything making meals the most structured part of the week long trip.v

Went there in the afternoon on an island hopper pass, only places for food was a restaurant at one end of the island, and a bakery at the other. The other 5 options for food and snacks on the island were closed up tight. The whole place generally felt run down - it felt like there was a lack of staff to keep things looking good. Was glad that we didn't stay overnight because for the price of the accommodation it would have been very disappointing.

Look, we wouldn't go near the place again although the resort itself probably deserves five stars. We had some property damaged by the helicopter landing and the management pretty much told us "bad luck, our stuff shouldn't have been near the helicopter pad" - not even an apology. It is a lovely well kept place, nice big lagoon-style pool, sharks, rays and fish swimming in the lagoons under the foot bridges is pretty cool, beautiful gardens etc, but it really is about money making. Everything is DEAR, a coke will cost you $6 from the shop. You will not feel important to them unless you are spending big money. The currents rip past the islands so any water sports are dangerous and the "Beach" is dotted with rocks so you can only really use the boats etc at high tide and if you go out to far the currents get you and they have to come out and rescue you. The little bay where the snorkeling is is often closed for weddings. My suggestion is, unless money is no option, to take your hard earned dollars down to somewhere like Long Island Resort at Happy Bay, $9 all you can eat breakfasts, great bush walks, same "beach" situation without the current though. It's not 5 star but great value for money. Oh and unless you're incredibly wealthy or want to pay your holiday off for a few years, stay away from Hamilton Island too. Cheers!

Everything newly renovated. Good resort for 2-3 days. Small prints in the B-note.

The location is impressive. The hotel is new and well done. The wild wallaroos and the artificial coral reef are great. Our room (deluxe with sea view) was really good.

But: the service is a bit uncoordinated. Sometimes orders are forgotten, sometimes nobody comes. All the staff are super friendly when you talk to them. But it's not always easy to catch someone.

The Inkstone Restaurant is delicious and recommended. The Infinity Restaurant was unfortunately too expensive for the service it offered. The breakfast is tailored to Australians (e.g. hardly anything to fill toast; there is no bread and rolls). It's good, but the breakfast hall is a bit like a cafeteria.

We can recommend it, but we wouldn't necessarily go there again, because after 3 days you have seen everything and eaten everything.

Pretty disappointing to be honest. Half the island is still closed, and staff do not want to be there. Rooms weren't cleaned one day, and the next wet towels left on the bed. Pool bar was filthy. Most staff seemed grumpy and over it.
Only positives - view from the superior rooms was beautiful, and there was a lovely waitress (blonde, european) at Inkstone that made our evening dinners great.

Really family friendly I would say. Nice resort and great brekkie and seafood buffet :) stayed there for 10nights tho and it was way too long for me. Not enough activities (or I'm just easily bored lol)
Great for laying by the pool all the time

Can't make real comment here, since I've never stepped onto land at Daydream Island.
However, what I saw as our ferry stopped over mid-trip was nothing spectacular. From the water, that side of the resort looks congested. Still being rebuilt, but whats already visible reminded me of a prison island, more than a tropical resort. Hope to do a day trip to the island soon, and that may revise my opinion, but from the boat it looked very outdated and cramped, if what we saw was guest accommodation.,

We had a fantastic time although only visiting for a few hours. They have done a wonderful job in reconstruction after the cyclone. The live reef was great to see and we really enjoyed the free fishfeeding. The pool right by the sea was lovely and the restaurant on the edge of the sea looked great too. We would highly recommend popping in to see the island even if only for an hour or so like we did.

Loved my stay, rooms were a bit dated but still very nice. There was free WiFi which is always good in my books. The living reefwas amazing, I went on the stingray splash feeding much recommend. Food and drink was priced well and all the staff were very nice. I would recommend anyone staying there.

Omg, Thanks for taking our money, we stayed for 8 nights. This island is now owned by the Chinese. Needless to say it's not maintained very well, plastic tropical plants throughout with a sterile feel to the main buildings, accommodation, hallways and very under staffed in every department. The food is overpriced, although it is very good but should be, (eg) $27 for a steak sandwich and chips. More than half of the facilities are out of order. We named the North end of the island Ghost town as nothing up there was open except the complimentary water sports. There was no jet skis at the resort as Airlie Beach jetskis had a falling out with the resort over costings apparently, but the day we were leaving, the resort bought in 5 jetskis of their own. We took a day trip to Airlie Beach and the jet ski tours there are 3 hours for the same price as 1 hour on the island. It was definitely worth paying the extra $84 per person on the ferry to go and enjoy a whole day at Airlie Beach jet skiing and eating reasonably priced food. Nothing else has been fixed since the last cyclone on the north end. The pool and Rum bar was out of order the whole time we were there, the tennis court is on a sideways slope and is perhaps the worst maintained court in Australia. Nothing about the resort is 4 stars. The rooms are like being in a cheap town house, the bath/shower just spills large amounts of water on the floor and the shower heads are just fanciful. The room and bathroom fittings are cheap Bunnings looking ones and the bed mattress is very firm. Our room was cleaned at around 5pm in the afternoons and after 4 days we had to request the hard floors to be vacumed as well as the bed sheets to be changed. The towels are covered in lint, so it's like drying yourself with clean dust then waiting to dry so you can dust yourself off. The staff are nice and polite except reception staff who take forever to answer the phone and act like your bothering them. Being there is only high management staff and no middle management, the staff are more hospitable towards each other than the guests, their all having a great time. There is no pool service for food or drinks, you'll have to go get that yourself. There is not much to say that's positive about Daydream Island "resort" except the food and beverage staff are helpful and somewhat hospitable. Doug at the Gin bar makes an awesome TimTam cocktail and get Guy to make your coffee. Also the living reef snorkel tour is well worth the $100 per person, if your lucky and you have a nice heart beat, you'll gey a stingray cuddle in you lap.

The whole resort is a rip off. You can only move around the small area. If you want to take a nice walk on the island you will be prevented very quickly by barriers. If you go to breakfast you shouldn't forget your money as only the first cup is included in the price. Never again!

Daydream island ....an opportunity missed

Daydream island ....an opportunity missed

Day 1 check in we were given a complementary room upgrade. Good start.
Checked in and went to the tonic bar, I ordered a champagne (6 on the menu) was then told they only had the Chandon or house available.
So I decided on a mojito to be told they didn t have any mint, no problem then how about a whisky sour, sorry no egg whites.... not off to a good start, house champagne it is then.
Then selected something from the food menu, the sesame wings were good. The charcuterie board... $35 for 3 slices of ham, a bad kabana and a cheddar cheese. A complete waster of money! What an opportunity to show case of the amazing local food.......an opportunity missed.

We then wandered down to the swim up pool bar ... closed.

Then went down to lovers cove.. wow!!! View spectacular!!!! The live music was great and created a really lovely atmosphere.
However... a distinct shortage of seats and umbrellas, in fact only 3 umbrellas.
Here s an idea. Why not have more seating and sun umbrellas, string up some fairy lights and create an area to be enjoyed all day and evening. Instead of just have 1 poor bloke there in a drinks cart for a couple of hours.
Perhaps you could have staff dedicated to taking food and drink orders for guests at lovers cove all day..... an opportunity missed

Day 2: Breakfast was ok, buffet breakfast served by staff who look like they d rather be anywhere else... how hard is a smile or a good morning.
Lunch is only two options, Inkstone or infinity Restaurant, both have take away options, great idea, especially since covid restrictions, as I m not sure what I ll want or when I ll want to eat lunch if I have to book now for lunch in 3 days time.

That being said... $32 for a steak sandwich!!!!!
Let s be honest, it was just a steak sandwich, not waggu or slow cooked in gold foil.

Day 3: Our last night we decided to try Infinity Asian Fusion Restaurant. We ordered two mains at the same time, I ordered Nasi Goreng, Asian food 101... apparently not! It lacked flavour and just tasted like rice and vegetables, mean while the prawn crackers were literally dripping in oil, at $30 something dollars , I was very disappointed. Not to mention I had nearly finished before my partners meal even arrived. He ordered the steamed barramundi, which was very well done, again $30ish.

Housekeeping, hmm... we stayed 3 nights and housekeeping only came on our last night but not until 7pm. honestly don t know why.

How hard is it to make a decent cocktail??? Despite being not able to order a mojito for 2 of our 3 days due to not having mint anywhere on the island... when the mint did arrive, the mojito was far from enjoyable, made a little more sour with the $17 price tag. Please please if you re charging obscene prices for food and drink please make sure they are worth eating and drinking.

Upon checking out this morning, waiting in line, all I could hear were people complaining about being overcharged, underwhelmed and generally disappointed.

I appreciate in these covid times that we are lucky to be allowed to travel anywhere, that being said , if you are encouraging people to discover Queensland please make sure it is worth discovering.

Daydream Island could be something spectacular and something to celebrate, however, in its current state / management, I would suggest giving it a missed as it really is an opportunity missed.

How do I say this.. Not good. Covid. I get it, has its effects. But i think they may have opened up sooner than they should have. (Thus creating poor reviews) understaffed and main activities not in use. If you want to say drink and stare than this is for you. Was my birthday abd appreciated the update. Spent 200 on food and sorry, but it was horrible. Spent so much money i didn't have for an at home for experience.

What a great Island with stunning views everywhere you look. Great for relaxing with plenty to keep you entertained during the day. Food options a little limited and evening meals could do with some improvements.

The resort is nice but not sure I like the idea of the small "outdoor acquarium". I would need to know more about how this helps the resident animals instead of how they are exploited for human entertainment.

A few problems here and there eventually added up to frustrations. The location of the island was fantastic and the resort itself was clean, new and very unique. The issue were that the staff seemed inexperienced and was so inconsistent. Housekeeping came into our do not disturb room and threw away a couple of personal toiletry items, almost every bar was missing some ingredient preventing them from making the cocktails offered from the menu correctly, the food in the restaurants was not worth the price and it was evident that the servers at each restaurant did not receive enough proper training (but all the servers were very friendly and conversational). There is so much potential for this place but we unfortunately left slightly disappointed with our stay.

Daydream island has been updated. It's nice and modernised since the last time we were here but very expensive. $25 for a wrap for lunch where's the chips? No chips with that one not much to do there except swim in the pool and eat. The other end of the island is still closed. The underground aquarium was beautiful and definitely a highlight. The kids loved it.

Can't recommend this place enough! We recently went here for our 10th wedding anniversary. The food is plentiful, with an amazing selection at the buffet and the restuarant. The day trips and activities on the island are easy to book and let you experience more of what the island and whitsundays has to offer.
There is still visible damage from the cyclone across the island, but things take time to regrow. The venue itself is in amazing condition and the on island living reef is a great experience - highly recommend the guided snorkel tour.
A short walk to Lovers cove on the new board walk will allow you to sip Champaign whilst watching the sun go down over the coral beach.
All i have to say is "just go" its well worth it.

Called to book, asked about the kids club and sitter fees which for so me reason are more expensive than the accomodation. Got palmed off to another department (who were helpful) to deal with the kids club issue who suggested I speak to a manager. I Called the customer service number, spoke to Georga who essentially spoke over me and although she told me she understood my query instructed me to email my query through to three different email addresses. When I asked to speak to a manager I was told they do not work on weekends which I find extremely unusual. Needless to say this was a horrible and stressful experience. All I wanted to to was book accomodation and babysitting/ kids club for our stay. If you add the cost of kids club and babysitting in (2 kids $400 per day) it s actually cheaper to stay at Hayman which includes part of this service. I really can t believe why this query was so difficult and why I was made to feel like I was being difficult.

Daydream Island should be promoted as a "family vacation" catering to children and not as a "couples romanitic getaway". We booked our 30th anniversary vacation, completely sold on thier adevertisment "Romantic, Peaceful" Instead we found ourselves consumed by screaming children, unattentive parents and a staff that seemed oblivious. The food was absolutely horrible, cold, tasteless and dry. If you're looking for a peaceful, romantic, adult time DO NOT BOOK DAYDREAM ISLAND!!!!!!! Our 30th anniversary was completely ruined and we paid a crap load for it!!!!

Amazing place with interesting talks and fish feeding. There are paid feeding tours that are absolutely great! Very interesting for adults and kids. professional photos with fish are available as well

Weekend stay, as it was the of season not allot of the island was open. Single choice for dinner each night and meals seamed over priced. They were nice but not great. Only the rooms were air-conditioned and they had fans in the dining areas that just didn't cut it. Pools were the highlight and sure to stingers we didn't swim in the ocean. None of the staff seemed to communicate and each person you asked a question or for a service would tell us one thing only for its too so it and then be told, no that's not right I'm not sure why you were told that. The outdoor aquarium was a standout with the lemon shark and stingrays. Make sure to catch a feeding session. The mermaids restaurant does not like walk-ins so be sure to book. It was the cost of the ferry to the island that was the biggest let down, being the cost of a nights accommodation. Should be a special rate for people staying on an island. Had fun though, not sure if it is a value for money holiday if that's what you are looking for.

Hotel refurbish is good. Could have some more organised kids activities. Main problem was the lack of experience in the staff. Hotel us run by lovely, friendly backpackers doing their best, but a few seasoned pros to show them the way and guide their customer service into professional realms wouldn t go a miss.

I would give it half a star if i could. What a absolute waste of time and money. Nothing to do on the island at all. Food way over priced. 2 x cheese burgers $52 better at mcdonalds. Went through 3 rooms before we gave up lack of view after paying top dollar to end up with a view of palm trees no pool. 2nd room couldnt open balcony door because there was no balcony and a dirty old fish pond to look at. 3rd room was great ocean view but then no hot water and tv was broken... got the hell out of there was booked to stay 3 nights we only stayed one, went to hamilton island and WOW that is a holiday resort absolute magic place will be going back soon. STAY AWAY FROM DAYDREAM PLEASE, VERY VERY BAD

Wet weather activities not so great, average management, needs an overhaul( brown water to wash in! only drink bottled water ), lack of advertising of what was available, food and drinks were over priced and food options limited however, great swimming pools, friendly staff and friendly fish and we still had a good holiday.

Let's just face reality. They have just re-opened, most of the staff are brand new to the resort and they could polish up a little in some areas. The ingredients are there for the resort to be a great place, just needs a bit of time.

Well kept, huge facility (despite not newest)
Good management keeps a huge range of activities and services running (which surprises me given this is the only resort on the island and there is definitely not a crowd)
Can't beat the location, it's simply one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen, and most of all well preserved and not damaged by mass tourism.

The place is unfinished, not ready for visitors. Lot of issues, the paint job was the worst I have ever seen, I don't think they got a professional painter.. the room was very dusty and not cleaned properly. A lot of I.T issues with air conditioning and t.v. some of the power points don't work. I think they really got the cheapest quote to do the upgrade of the rooms..The rooms had no bottled water, mini bars were empty, the room had no tea, coffee or sugar. Sugar never made to the room. The food at Inkstone was very nice but over priced and so was the alcoholic beverages. Lack of knowledge in who ever setup up Inkstone where the flies are over running the restaurant, flies keep on dropping into drinks and onto food.. some insects zappers would of been an idea to install. On a positive note the staff are very friendly but you can see they were very stressed and over worked with the dysfunctional opening..which we thought happened a week prior. Dan, the Assistant Manager, was great in assisting us with the issues, his communication with was fantastic, he tried really hard but when you are one person in Management, makes it very difficult, in the end, nothing got done.. Just a lot of sorrys. If you're travelling to Daydream island, maybe give it a year for them to iron out all their issues.

Crap food and really outdated tacky rooms with cracked tiles and pathetically small bathtubs that have a hose style shower head above it, the baths are too small and gross to consider sitting in. The island is small and boring, everything is old and since you're stuck on the island they charge a fortune for everything. My advice, pay the extra and go to Hamilton Island, especially if you're a couple, in fact if you're a couple don't even consider Daydream Island, there's no romantic element. It's like being stuck in an overpriced amusement park that has no rides or anything nice, with really bad food that you're forced to pay for. I would never go back, and I hope this deters other couples from trying to have a romantic break there. It's also got nowhere good to snorkel, the beach is made of rocks and dead coral, so you can't enjoy that either.

Its a incredibly small physical area about 800 metres by 150 metres wide. I don't suffer from boredom or claustrophobia but at about 24 hours you have done everything twice. So its very isolated for variety to eat, drink or be entertained. If there was competition on the island in these areas it would be non sustainable. lf you have been there once you wouldn't be longing to go back

They still have some work to do. Personally I was unlucky with weather, it was cold and no hot tub or heated pools. Not the resorts fault, but few concessions. Breakfast is meh. Lovely restaurants, but not a lot of variety for a four night stay. Hope they contribute to improve since the views and location are fabulous.

Great relaxing location not far off the coast of North Qld. 30 minutes by ferry from Airlie. From the moment we arrived and were given the initial tour from the lovely Sharon through to the meals and activities, everyone was friendly, helpful and happy. We booked the whole trip through the Daydream website, they organised flights, bus to ferry and ferry trip, we just had to turn up at the airport. Everything ran extremely smoothly, will book this way again. Accommodation was roomy and clean with plenty of bathroom and tea and coffee supplies. Large soft towels and beach towels also provided. Snorkelling gear was included and use of non motorised watercraft. Plenty of pools to choose from as well as the crystal clear blue ocean waters. The aquarium is something else, they've done an amazing job. Thank you so much, we really enjoyed our stay.
