Look, we wouldn't go near the place again although the resort itself probably deserves five stars. We had some property damaged by the helicopter landing and the management pretty much told us "bad luck, our stuff shouldn't have been near the helicopter pad" - not even an apology. It is a lovely well kept place, nice big lagoon-style pool, sharks, rays and fish swimming in the lagoons under the foot bridges is pretty cool, beautiful gardens etc, but it really is about money making. Everything is DEAR, a coke will cost you $6 from the shop. You will not feel important to them unless you are spending big money. The currents rip past the islands so any water sports are dangerous and the "Beach" is dotted with rocks so you can only really use the boats etc at high tide and if you go out to far the currents get you and they have to come out and rescue you. The little bay where the snorkeling is is often closed for weddings. My suggestion is, unless money is no option, to take your hard earned dollars down to somewhere like Long Island Resort at Happy Bay, $9 all you can eat breakfasts, great bush walks, same "beach" situation without the current though. It's not 5 star but great value for money. Oh and unless you're incredibly wealthy or want to pay your holiday off for a few years, stay away from Hamilton Island too. Cheers!
