just go ... amazing food ... lunch is limited ... start with the tofu and the vege dumplings and graduate to the bulgogi slide ... the pork noodles and the bi bim bap are great as well ... chicken wings have a lot of flavor.

Good Korean food although a bit pricey even for New York. Cocktails were delicious. Staff was very nice in the atmosphere is quite amazing. Would be a hard place for groups bigger than four, but seems like a perfect place to bring a date
Thanks to tall communal tables that practically fill the dining room, Chef Hooni Kim s Hell s Kitchen hot spot is both festive and bustling. Attractive and smartly designed, its silk panels, pottery and striking display of spoons are further enhanced by a flattering lighting scheme. Equally impressive are the menu s myriad small plates, each of them a refreshing take on Korean specialties. Blocks of soft tofu are quickly deep-fried and boldly dressed with gochujang and a ginger-scallion vinaigrette. Poached daikon rings accompanied by bok choy are glazed with a dark and spicy sauce and stacked high for dramatic presentation. Vegetarian highlights include spicy, crispy dumplings filled with tofu, vegetables and cellophane noodles.
Tiny place. Certainly not traditional Korean food, but it is good food. Went last night and couldn't get in without a reservation. Walked in for lunch today and was just able to get a spot, so plan ahead. Service is great. A little pricey but not outrageous. Interesting option for sure.
Danji offers korean tapas in a lowkey and cozy environment, with attentive service. This review is based on our visit during the first week of opening when only the limited menu was available. We tried the chicken wings, sablefish, short ribs and the kimchi paella topped with egg (delicious!) - the flavors were delicate and well-executed, although portion sizes were small. The specialty cocktails are created to compliment the asian flavors in the food - we sampled the Asian Pear, the Ginseng Soda and the Su Jung Kwa. Our favorite was the Asian Pear, which contained pear pulp and was crisp and refreshing.
Came here for a sunday brunch. Ended up sitting at the bar, and the bartender was very helpful in explaining the menu and taking our orders quickly. I ordered the Korean fried chicken wings for an app and the stone-bowl spicy pork bibimbap for an entree. The chicken was tasty and well-seasoned with ginger. And the bibimbap was as good as any other in Koreatown. For the brunch special, it came with the picked cucumber/radish banchan and a mushroom soup. The restaurant itself was very clean and had enough space for the number of seats it limits itself to. It was really easy to get the people's attention for water, napkins, and ordering anything else. It was a good dining experience and good food. I'd recommend the place, but would note that reservations would be really helpful because of how busy it got when I visited.
Danji is your contemporary Korean name. Space was relatively packed and seating was also limited.
We got the baby Arugula salad, short rib stew, and spicy rice cake with sausage. Nothing was a miss. The salad was very refreshing to kick off the meal as it had fruits and nuts in the mix.
The spicy rice cake was a special one as the rice cake was first deep fried (very crispy) before mixed with onion and sausage. The dish went really well with the greek yogurt on top. Finally, there's the short rib. The short rib was obviously cooked long hours and went really long with stewed carrots and potato. Although the price was on the higher end, it was definitely worth it.
Our drinks Tokyo drift and soju sangria were both very fruity and refreshing, I'd highly recommend both.
The food was delicious. This restaurant takes modern spins on Korean food and highly recommend the egg over rice dish. Pictured below is the bossam, which the meat tasted great but I didn't like using radish as the ssam. The dishes deliver well overall. I didn't like their slush style mokgeolli.
Unique Korean tapas concept. The sliders are better than any others you've had. The poutine is unlike anything I've ever had with very interesting spiciness.
We enjoy hanging out. Yesterday we went to this superb place which friends recommended to us. We had a delightful evening there with exceptional cooking and a professional stuff and an impressive chef. We added this restaurant in our phone list and we shall definitely go again very soon. We highly recommend.
"we got there at 545 to be sure to get in. How right we were. It has become a hot spot and well deservedly. What to order? Everything on the menu was tempting. But we had the sliders-pork and beef-incredible!; tofu with scallions, paella, ""sable""fish with a wonderful sauce; and the most delicious steak tartare. We four ate too much but if we had the stomach for it would have eaten more." Nothing new but oh so good. same rules for getting in.
Haven t been for dinner. For lunch, we had bibimbop. Rice wasn t cooked fully. Spicy pork was cold and pork was oddly cubed - I ve never seen cubed pork for Korean spicy pork and now I know why, it was gross. Kimchi was over-fermented. Service was kind and setting is nice. Food was memorable for being poor. Given reputation, may give dinner a try sometime.
Probably one of the best Korean food in the city. The ambiance is luxurious with nice setting. The food is awesome! Try their BoSsam ( ; Boiled Pork Belly).
On 3/4/21 my partner and I were looking forward to celebrating our anniversary. We made a reservation on Open Table for 6:30. When we got there the gate was down and the place was closed.
Their website and social media all state they should have been open. The next day I reached out to them via email and IG (restaurant's account and the chef's account). Still have received no response so I'm taking it to the web.
It was incredibly disappointing and shows they have no respect for customers. I ve dined with them 3-4 of times before and was excited to share it with my partner on a special occasion. We settled for an ok Mexican meal when I had planned an experience.
Danji is a top-notch awesome Asian restaurant with a wide range of unique options. The Korean bibimbap is a great choice here, whether you go veggie or pork. The meat is deliciously tender and seasoned and the wide range of veggies are tasty as well. The dumplings are also off-the-charts good and start off the meal well. You can even get Korean craft beer, including a very unique rice beer that is white and cloudy here. Service is super friendly and pretty quick as well. The space is very cool with lots of wood and a nice small bar. It s fairly small inside though, so be prepared for a wait.
Arrived 30 minutes early. Told that when the next table is ready, they would come get us next door at the Bamboo Restaurant. We had a fantastic sushi appetizer there, but when nobody came to get us, we walked back over to find two empty tables and two couples being seated who arrived after us, and the waiter who told us he would come get us had forgotten who we were...in 30 minutes time. We waited 10 minutes in the small restaurant and left. Disappointing since my wife is Korean, and we were looking forward to the gourmet experience.
2 stars for the high hopes from the sushi next door (same owner?), but they have go get the seating, reservation, whwre they send waiting patrons right.
the food is delicious. small sharable plates which is always fun and the drinks are very good. Great service and just a great over all vibe. Really love going there for any kind of night, dates, casual diner, celebration, fits them all. Any items on the menu is just amazing!
This is a small restaurant - meaning if you're going anytime between 6:30 and 9 p.m. you'll probably have to wait for a table, or sit at the bar.
That being said, the food is consistently delicious - something difficult to find this close to Times Square. The sliders and wings are a favorite as well as the tofu with ginger scallion dressing. I'm not a vegetarian and I always order the tofu... you know it's good.
ProTip: Come early or late, or definitely grab seats at the bar to minimize your wait time - the wait staff behind the bar is friendly and attentive.
Very homy and comfy atmosphere. The servers are very attentive. Most importantly the food is super tasty. When I look around I see some Korean couples which also confirms that this restaurant is a genuine and good restaurant.
Excellent KFC wings! The rest of the food didn't seem out of the ordinary. I went with my family and what I did not like about the service is that they will not have a "High Chair" so that my little boy could sit comfortably.
Didn't like the food, but more importantly, the speed at which the food came out was not up to par with the high star-rating on Google. The seating was also tight and cramped, leaves much to be desired.
Waaaaaay overpriced!! I was expecting to have a meal not an appetizer for $26 per person. The main dish is pricy as if it is a good portion with rice and side dishes. No rice nor side dishes were served. We were seated in a tiny communal table, no privacy, uncomfortable to get out or call the waiter. You won't get disappointed here if you expect to try americanized Korean food served like a fancy appetizer at a price of a full meal.
Creative, interesting and tasty food. Playful without being annoying. Slightly let down by indifferent service but a great example of NYC dining at its best.
I was here for restaurant week for lunch and the place serves good food. I enjoyed that my rice come out on a hot pan sizzling with goodness. The staff was nice however I did not have drinks here because did want to spend to much money. The place is small but it has charm. The staff was nice. I may come back to this place because I really enjoyed my meal.
Love this place! The food is awesome - pork belly sliders are ridiculous as are the korean BBQ wings. The drink list could be better since they only have one signature drink made with vodka. Make a reservation or get there early, because the first time I went, the wait was 1.5 hours.
Americans say the taste is sweet and salty, but the food is too salty, so the food tastes bitter and the tongue is tingling. The amount was small and the side dish set (3 pieces) we ordered together was given at the end of serving. It seems that the staff doesn't know the meaning of the side dish. Anyway, I didn't feel like I ate well for the cost.
Excellent food. Had the 6 course chef's tasting and every round was fabulous- which is the mark of a great restaurant. Standouts were the sashemi, the spicy chicken wings and the pork belly. Give the star back!
Modern fusion type with innovative tastes but not a place to eat if you are Korean. They will charge you 5$ for $0.50 of kimchee which normally is provided for free. Don't even bother to ask for rice
We like a lot going out. Last night we came to this fine restaurant which friends recommended to us. We spent a lovely experience there with high-qulity food and a well-trained team and a great chief cook. We added this place in our phone list and we will surely visit again very soon. Highly recommended.
This place contains one of my least favorite words in dining: tapas. This means tiny, overpriced plates. True to form, this Korean tapas place is still a tapas place which means it comes to about $30 for an average of 2 plates (not including drinks).
Given that, the food is very good. The Garlic Honey Wings had an amazing crunchy skin and flavor; the Whelk Salad was indeed very spicy and the cucumber cooled off the Bossam in the right way. Each of the four Spicy Yellowtail Sashimi was smaller than my thumb, but it was still good.
So if you like spice and are not susceptible to heartburn, why not check out some New Korean fare?
Danji was everything. Get the tasting menu, all of the best options on the menu, only $55. Def come hungry, and make a reservation. I couldn't pick a favorite, but the yellowtail sashimi and wings we fought over, and they were full of flavor, with a great portion size. Cocktails were fun and flavorful, we messed up and didn't order the beverage pairing.
Awesome little modern korean restaurant. Very cozy inside and impeccable, attentive service....As soon as I finished my sticky wings I had a wet wipes. Great sliders, wings and bossam!
Good ambiance. I had high expectation before I came but was disappointed by the food. Portion is on the small side and price is a bit ex. We ordered 4 plates (medium and big) for 2. The food is tooooo salty. Every single dish is so salty that i cannot even taste anything else. Would not visit again.
The food is amazing! It's not traditional Korean but more of a fusion refined Korean.
Must get the pork belly buns, spicy yellowtail sashimi, tofu with ginger dressing and soy-poached black cod. The black cod is amazing, I would just order that for lunch (it comes with rice) and it's really filling.
Fun place to take your friends to and gets really noisy. The space is small and cozy and most likely you'll be sitting either at the bar or the high tables.
More difficult to get a seat if you have a large group.
This place is awesome! If you get tired of waiting for ramen down the block (which we did) then come to Danji instead. Deliciously prepared Korean good. a the tofu was my favorite - melt in your mouth good.
Great place! My wife and I had dinner there this weekend before a show. Excellent friendly service. We really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. They have a nice drink menu as well. For small plates the serving sizes are pretty generous. We were fine splitting 3 items.
Such an amazing experience here. Delicious food (try the Korean wings to start and the toasted rice ice cream to finish on, you won't regret it). Eduardo was our server/ bartender and was so kind, welcoming, and generous. And made delicious drinks! Very special place in NYC.
If you're used to more casual, street food type Korean restaurant, this is not this kind of Korean place! It's elegant, Michelin rated and worth the 30 minutes plus you'll inevitably have to endure to get a table since the restaurant does not take reservations. Nonetheless, each of the small plates served will make you rediscover Korean food in a completely new way.
2017.12. : The lunch set served with beef soup as soup, which was the best. The price is a bit strong, but the prices in New York are so strong that I didn't take it out. 2018.09. : Photo left. The amount seems to be a little higher than the last time. But the beef radish soup was just like a soup. There are too many radishes and the soup tastes too.
Danji's spicy fire chicken wings were a total let down, and wings are very important to me! I was hoping for a nice dining experience after my Broadway show but was underwhelmed.
The staff are very friendly and friendly. It might not be suitable for Koreans who want to eat Korean food. It's tailored to the taste of foreigners I can feel or squeeze it a bit
