Considering the price of individual menu, better to order the Course for each person. The Course was $58 per person which is not bad for the quality.
My favorite menu was the Sashimi, 4 pieces of the tofu thing, BOSAM(omg), and the last one (real favorite) rice with 3 different kimchi and the FISH. It s marinated fish and u can t smell the fishy smell but only the delicious sauce and the softness of this boneless fish. Wonderful with the 3 kimchi together.
I was like, Ugh, is it gonna be enough? I might have to eat ramen at home after this
Later : OMG OMG I M TOO FULLLL I CAN T ANYMORE and keep eating cuz it s too good.
Honestly, I didn t love the Bulgogi sandwich and the chicken but except for that, others are just so perfect.
I absolutely loved their dishes and customer service, good area nearby to where I live. The staff members are always super nice. I highly recommend this place.
Tried this place close to Times Square. I love the food there. The Bossam (pork belly) was good!
Food was amazing. I had huevos pajeon racheros and it was delicious. If you know enough about Indian food, it tasted like pakodas. The hot sauce was legit as well. I'd visit again for sure. Only downside is the price. It might be great for a date night, but not for regular lunch/dinner. There are other restaurants around on 9th avenue which are much cheaper with similar quality of food. Do check this Korean American cuisine when you're around.
Appetizer was delicious. I was amazed at the main dish. It puts small tteokbokki rice cake in egg soup and sells it as rice cake soup. There are about 6 tteokbokki rice cakes that are cut in half and the dumplings that have been squeezed out ... It seems that the appetizer is made and then the popped dumplings are boiled. The side dishes were too sour, salty and frustrating. Bibimbap doesn't even come with side dishes.
Great atmosphere. The food was fantastic. I am not one to comment on the wait staff but the service was exceptional! The asparagus and snow pea dish is a must try. The yellow fun tuna was great as well.
Just one word..... AMAZING!!!
Service and food were incredible.
A very small and intimate restaurant with dimmed lights and candles perfect for date nights!
Danji is a hole in the wall in Hells Kitchen, where you would never expect a Korean restaurant. The place is primarily made of communal high tops where the menu is hidden in the drawer and wooden spoons and hanging on the sides for anyone to take home lol. Def enjoyed the concept.
What we ordered:
-Spicy Whelk Salad w/ Buckwheat Noodles
-Spicy KFC (Korean Fried Chicken wings) THE BEST!!!!
-Bulgogi bowl- THE BEST
-Danji Braised Black Angus Short Rib- THE BESTT!!! SO tender and easily comes off the bone!
Let's talk food. Don't expect Korean BBQ here, it's mostly bibimbap. It's the same type of simplicity done right. The food is really good and flavorful and so is the service. Overall loved the experience and ambiance here. The only compliant would be that the price point is a bit on the higher side for the amount of food that you receive which is quite small.
Overall we ll probably be back but not if I was starving that day. It's bougie Korean but in a good way.
Small, quaint, and cozy but big on flavor. The dishes were as good looking as they taste. Service was great and never had an empty glass.
Fix your B rating... Your Restaurant Week tasting menu was delicious! Too many restaurants on W. 52nd Street have B ratings. What's up with that?
We had the gyoza and the chicken wings. The wings were good but the filling in the gyoza wasn't very well rounded- there was a spice in it that threw the whole dish off. We ordered a traditional bloody mary and a kimchi bloody mary. The kimchi was great but the traditional was very thick and filled with tomato pulp. I couldn't drink the last quarter because it was just pulp. Not worth the price point.
Just go, let the food talk for itself.
Staff were good, we didnt have a reservation but sat us down in two minutes.
Cozy and hopping, but it's pricey and serves very small dishes. Leaves you hungry and la ighter wallet. If you want to be filled, with moderate price, this is definitely not the place.
Great place. We had a wonderful time. The owner is very nice & friendly. They are in the process of building an outdoor structure. Let's continue to support our small nyc businesses.
Delicious spicy pork bi bim bap. Great ratio of crispy rice -- the cooking was well done! Pretty skimpy with the meet though. Airy yet cozy space. Fun bathroom decor.
The restaurant is small, and the wait can be long. Seating is at communal tables with menus interestingly in little drawers at each place setting. Danji presents it's food tapas style and 4 to 5 plates will definitely fill 2 people up. Their cocktail menu is great and there's a choice for everyone with cocktails containing soju or saki. For tapas plates I'd definitely recommend the bulgogi beef sliders, the bossam, and the kim chi fried rice with fried egg on top.
Tasting menu was great! Pricy, but huge portions and super unique tastes.
Great service but even better food, a great place to end the day and have a nice conversation with friends or date.
Awesome experience. The service, the food, well everything was amazing. Plan ahead and make reservations.
I certainly like the food and customer service, great location right next to my house. The staff members are always super nice. Will come back again.
I think the price is slightly higher than other Korean restaurants.
There are really few Small. For example, bulgogi beef sliders will be betrayed if you think, "It costs 16 $, so there will be this much volume." It's really Small ...
Shrimp & scallion pancake w. Chili pepper, but it tasted more like "kakiage" than pajeon. Hmm. A little not good.
Most Korean restaurants offer kimchi and banchan (a little side dish) as a service, but you need to order them separately here.
Alcoholic beverages were also slightly expensive.
I had Tteokbokki, egg over the rice, and tofu. Tteokbokki and tofu were too salty, and the portion of dishes is too small. Can say pricey but not worth it. I recommend to go to Ktown for real Korean dishes.
i want to love this place so much because the food is good. my husband and i come twice a year when we come to town for shows. the last time we came after a show (we booked on open table). when we got there they said we had to hurry because the kitchen was closing. but they accepted our reservation for that time! so we hurried through our meal as everyone seemed to just be waiting for us to finish. but the food was good...
i decided to book again. i booked a week beforehand for four people to have dinner before our show. we have a close friend that decided to meet up for the show, so i tried to edit our reservation through open table to add one more. it said to call or e-mail the restaurant. i e-mailed as i live in another time zone and can t seem to reach them during my day. i just got to town and called them today to check on my reservation and make sure they received my e-mail. the woman that took my call simply said, we get so many e-mails we can t get to all of them. you should have called . she offered us to sit all at the bar. everyone is over 21, right? no, they are not.
she said she could accommodate if we ate at the bar and we re out by 6:00 p.m.
another hurried meal. unfortunately it will be our last at this place.
Such a cute place with an awesome staff and fantastic service. The food and drinks are also really good. It's reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend the shrimp & scallion pancake and the bibimbap (you really can't go wrong with this) - we got the bulgogi one and it was great.
Delicious, modern Korean food in a cozy Hell's Kitchen nook. What's not to love. Excelent for both drinks and apps or a full meal.
Be warned that the place is very cramped--communal tables--and can be quite noisy, but go anyway!
Terrific dishes: yellowtail sashimi, tofu w/ginger, bossam (!!), black cod, trio of kimchi.
Good (but less interesting--I would skip): chicken wings, sliders, ice cream.
We did the tasting menu, but maybe better to order a la carte.
With the tasting menu, it came to $100/person with drinks, but could be less.
This place has nice decor, but the food is nothing special. Overall, one of the less memorable Korean restaurants I've been to. Also, pricey for the size of portions (yes, I'm aware that it's tapas, but unsatisfying even by those standards).
Food and service are great! We love it every time. (get the bossam )
Love love love this restaurant. It s a small place. They do take reservations or you can luck out and get a seat.
The drinks are creative and tasty. The soju sangria was refreshing and not overly sweet.
Sadly the bulgogj beef sliders were not available last night. I have had them before and they are delicious. Both types of wings are amazing. The group went with a second order of the spicy version so maybe those had a slight edge.
The pork belly sliders are spicy and tender. The char on the pork was so good.
The bacon wet kimchi fried rice is rich and decadent. The rice crisps up on the skillet and the little chunks of bacon are pleasant surprises. I would say share this one as it is quite rich.
We finished the meal with some ice cream. We debated if the black sesame or toasted rice (with some vanilla flavor) was the best.
Great service from when we arrived to when we left full and satisfied. Thanks for a great meal and experience.
Excellent fusion Korean food, creative cocktails, and friendly customer service
Got the tasting menu for four. Excellent food. A solid mix of dishes and plenty of it. Spicy Yellowtail Sashimi and Bossam pork belly were both outstanding.
Really enjoyed our meal. Bossam and tofu plates were delicious. It s a small place with tight seating and shared tables though they pull it off. Really attentive service I loved that they brought one dish at a time and replaced our individual place in between. I hope to be back to try more things, perhaps even one of the tasting menus!
Absolutely fantastic. Michelin level food in a rustic, inviting, well lit and cozy space. Every bite was actually flawless. Sat at the bar and the bartender was fantastic. Tasting menu for 2 or 3 seems the best way to sample everything. Very surprising and highly recommended!
One of my favorite restaurants in NYC. Korean tapas done classically or with a new twist. The line can get long so be sure to give yourself some time to get seated. No reservations!
