Delicious food and decent price for the neighborhood. May not be your traditional old Korean cuisine, but I liked the modern vibe and slight twists. The bibimbaps and fried rice were really good. The portions seems small at first sight, but ends up becoming quite filling with plenty of flavors and texture. The space is a bit tight and quite crowded though, so don't expect perfectly attentive service or having room to move around.

Great food. The seating is partially made up of sharing tables, so if you're not up for that then call ahead to reserve an ordinary table. As for us, we were seated very happily between two groups with enough space to avoid bumping elbows or hearing too much of each other's conversations. The staff were incredibly friendly, and though there was a brief rose spillage incident with our neighbors, the staff were immediately there to help us all mop up and repour drinks. The food was INCREDIBLE. Special shout out to the whelk salad (your friends who refuse to eat seafood will honestly enjoy it), the kimchi trio, and the pork belly sliders.

Try to call ahead for a seat, and be prepared to pay upwards of $80 for dinner for two (including soju), but absolutely give Danji a try.

I went two years ago. Smaller than expected, simple and overall friendly. But the amount is really small. The price doesn't seem to be very expensive. But ... I don't think it's better or better than a restaurant in Korea. It's still neat and delicious. I think it's good to go when you're curious about the taste of Korea.

Spectacular food, the pork belly especially. Go for the tasting menu to try a bunch of things, you won't be disappointed. My girlfriend and I loved it (she asked me to write that), and the spicy wings weren't overly hot.

We had just watched a show and were looking for something to eat. It was around 11 pm. Love Korean food so why not?! We weren't that hungry so we got two dishes. The bulgogi beef sliders ( I was tempted to have the noodle dish with bulgogi but after reading the reviews was glad I didn't,). The sliders were great although o think a dash of lemon would have made them phenomenal! We also had the Korean kfc wings, which were great. The daikon that came with the wings was so good, I could have eaten a whole plate of them! The food came out really quickly which was great because I wanted to go to sleep!
The food was a bit expensive but I guess that's what you get for being in Manhattan!

A year ago I thought everything we had was wonderful with on point service. This time we thought the food was pretty mediocre and the service was rushed, almost rude especially towards the end.

The sashimi appetizer tasted a fishy - in a bad way.

The chicken wings - while had good flavor - was very mushy and caked with thick sauce - not crispy.

The Bo Saam was still amazing like we had the first time.

The short rib was really dry - like jerky- and definitely not good compared to most Korean restaurants. The vegetables that came with it were undercooked and the pear onions still had the inedible outer layer on them.

Mackerel was good but not memorable.

When we finished the wait staff cleared our table and brought out the towels to clean up the table - I didn't like that since it looked sloppy like food crumbs were going to get all over us. Hey could have waited until we left since it's not like thy have any dessert options. When we asked about dessert they seemed reluctant on telling us what was on the menu because they just wanted us to leave.

Won't be coming back since KTown restaurants have better food and service nowadays.

Authentic taste, similar to what I get when I'm in Seoul. The wings and beef bibimbap were both great. They did not serve banchan as a starter, which is what I expect at a Korean restaurant, but everything else was great.

Came here for Sunday Brunch during Restaurant week. The Dolsot Bibimbap was delicious. It came with a side of soup and banchan. Also, had the tofu appetizer. Dishes were good and perfect for a wintry day.

Great service and delicious food! Our waiter was very kind to us. Loved the atmosphere of the restaurant. It has simple decorations but there was clearly thought put into it. The food was very good and the portions a good size (not too small like most NYC restaurants)

I rated one star not for the food but the services. We were group of five, and after we paid. They called us and forced us to pay extra large tips.
Their service were not worth the tips. During our time they only came to our table three times. ordering the food, bringing us the food, and the check. There were no interaction with the staffs otherwise.
tdlr food was food, service was bad.

Ridiculously good Korean food, perfect.. if you can afford it take the chefs selection as it is amazing. Highlight is the Bossam with radish wrap and the Korean take on a slider and agedashi tofu were the best I ever tried. My highlight restaurant for New York - MUST try, they deserve a 6 star game

I love this place! I am always bringing my family and friends when they are visiting and everybody loved it so far. All the dishes are super tasty (love the short rib!). I like the atmosphere but it s a small restaurant that can easily become noisy if you re unlucky with your table neighbors. I am not a big fan of the cocktails.

This is the best restaurant in the theater district. Every dish was insanely good and the service was outstanding. The scallion pancake is made differently than what you re used to - it s crispier, thicker, and you ll wish other scallion pancakes were like this. Noodles, fried rice, wings - it s all excellent.

I would actually give Danji 4.5 stars because for the most part I had a great experience and the quality of the food was excellent. However, my particular entree, which was the bibimbap with the cast iron skillet, wasn't particularly flavorful and was only really saved by the fact that I could add the red pepper paste that came with the regular bibimbap. I think the regular bibimbap is the superior choice because it comes with kimchi and soup. The wings were great as well as the service. As I was there for the NYC restaurant week two course menu, the value was very good.

Nice presentation, but not worth the price point. $17 for no frills (no kimchi or starters included) bibimbap is steep, compared to options in ktown, for example, and this didn't live up. The bibimbap (I got the beef) was lukewarm, small, and lacking flavor. Would not recommend.

Admittedly, I am not much of a foodie, but I know what I like, and when I've had a good experience. Danji checks both boxes handily.

First, the food tastes good. It's creative, it's flavourful, and filling. We had the $55 tasting menu and we left satisfied. Not only that, but they were willing to accommodate my red meat aversion, substituting with two vegetarian dishes that delivered. I was not expecting them to do that, but they made no fuss at all. The sable fish, tofu squares, and chicken wings were particularly awesome. I would have been thrilled with just those, but there were four other excellent courses.

In addition to great food, the service was excellent. Our bartender/server, Bobby, was not only above and beyond with his service, but downright pleasant and entertaining. He enhanced what was already an enjoyable experience, and basically assured that the next time with visit the City, we'll be coming to Danji.

You probably won't find this place in many guides, but do yourself a favor if you're milling about the theater district, and check it out. You will not leave disappointed.

Excellent food. I had the tofu, which is the best I've ever had, the pork belly, and the spicy cucumber. Good beers available. The hostess seemed friendly and energetic but the staff I interacted could have been friendlier and more helpful. One waitress asked me if I wanted anything else (after serving me a beer) and when I said no she promptly handed me the cheque/bill which I find quite rude.

Pretty darn close to perfect! Early dinner before a broadway show. The waiter even asked if we were going to a show afterwards and had out of there in perfect time before the show started. Much appreciated!
The food here is tapas style and we shared about 5 dishes. Amazing food!!

Good restaurant with good food, but not necessarily exceptional or had that wow factor. I would recommend trying the pork rib. The ambiance and staff were very nice. I would recommend it for a low, key neighborhood restaurant.

Docked it two stars for offering a more Americanized food menu vs authentic Korean.

We did restaurant week and it was a great deal. The only thing that made it a 4 and not a 5 for me, was that the k.f.c wings were too hot. I like spicy foods, but those wings were borderline unenjoyable.

Great korean restaurant that serve small tapas of korean style food with a twist. The staffs are friendly and helpful. Atmosphere looks pretty cool and hip. I recommend trying the soju sangria, spicy "kfc" korean fire chicken wings, steak tartare, yellowtail sashimi, shrimp and scallion pancake, braised short ribs and the soft tofu stew with korean miso. Overall great concept and restaurant looks beautiful.

If you love the experience new food ways, if you like to discover new things and enjoy a journey of flavor, this is absolutely the right place to be. This is not a restaurant you want to visit if you are hungry. Little portions for big bucks (our bill was 100 usd for 2 persons, which were not that hungry). All items come in taste size, the burgers shown on the picture are maybe 3 inches big. They recommend to share 4-5 dishes between 2 persons. The ambiente/flair is very european, it is light and easy. I would defently take a date to this place.

Excellent food and even better service. Better to get a table, the community seating is a bit cramped. But it makes for lively conversations with your neighbors. They have a separate vegetarian menu. Highly recommend the "fire" dumplings and the tofu with ginger scallion dressing.

Had high hopes for this place, but was disappointed. A literal hole in the wall with uncomfortable seating that's so close to each other, you'll feel super awkward hearing everyone's conversation.

The KFC Korean Chicken was meh. The bulgogi sliders were salty. The highlight of the menu was the trio of kimchi.

Heavily overpriced for small portions and mediocre flavors.

Went there with four people and shared a bunch of items, everything was really delicious! The menu is setup so that each dish is relatively small so that you can try multiple things which I think is awesome. Some of my favorites were the poached sablefish with spicy daikon, vermicelli noodles w. beef & korean peppers, spicy yellowtail sashimi, spicy pork belly sliders, and the bossam.

A great small Korean tapas restaurant in the heart of Hell's kitchen. The dishes are not on the cheap side (at all) but the pork slider and beef rib stew are nothing short of amazing. Cozy atmosphere and a great place to try out different Korean dishes!

Came here for restaurant week. Had the vegetable dumplings, spicy 'KFC' chicken wings, and two bibimbap skillets, one vegetable, and one spicy pork. The vegetable dumplings were piping hot, and the spicy wings were pretty delicious. The skillets were the star of the meal, but were a little inconsistent. Some of the rice was burnt in one skillet, whereas the other skillet had very little crispy rice. Still, both skillets tasted delicious with the gochujang provided.

We were provided with complimentary ice cream after the meal - one flavor was toasted rice, the other was black sesame. Both were very enjoyable, and the toasted rice flavor had hints of caramel.

Service was polite and attentive. Bathroom was clean.

3.5 stars - With 2 weeks to go and having over 300 booked restaurants left to tackle, my fiance and I decided to give the only Michelin starred Korean restaurant in the city a visit. We arrived around 8PM on a rainy late spring Friday and managed to snatch the last 2 seats.

As soon as we were situated, I look a full look at Danji and was surprised at how tiny this place was - yet somehow every patron was screaming on top of their lung aka chatting with the person directly across from him/her. Honestly, my fiance and I could barely hear each other as we were trying to discuss our menu options. Speaking of menu, our hostess failed to inform us that the menu was already placed in the desk drawer. My fiance and I sat around for a good 10 minutes before we waved down our waiter to learn that the menus were waiting there for us all along. We prob should have asked earlier.

Onto the food - our server took her time in explaining the menu (traditional vs modern Korean tapas) and recommended 2-3 plates per person. My fiance and I weren't particularly hungry so we decided on 3 dishes including 1 which was portioned to 2 servings - Bossam, Poached Sablefish, and Kimchi Fried Rice (for 2).

The bossam was first to arrive - 6 pieces of juicy, fatty braised pork served with steamed lettuce and pickled kimchi. Aside from the fact that the pork was a bit too saucy/salty, I find the pairing with the steamed lettuce (balanced out the saltiness of the braising sauce) and spicy kimchi (added the needed crunch) to be just perfect.

The poached sablefish was next - beautiful, flaky white fish filet - the sauce actually tasted very similar to the Bossam's - perhaps just a tad sweeter but again a bit too salty to my taste - nevertheless, easily my fav dish of the night.

Kimchi fried rice - after seeing pictures after pictures of it on yelp - we decided to give it a try even though my fiance isn't the biggest kimchi fan. Served on a sizzling pan, the fried rice was lightly crusted at the bottom which gave it a nice toasted/crunchy texture. The rice was perfectly seasoned and not oily like the usual kimchi fried rice I find in K-town. However for $20 and with endless glowing reviews/recommendations, we expected far more from this dish - it was still just a regular kimchi fried rice to us.

After blowing through the 3 dishes, my fiance and I realized we had wayyyy under-ordered. Our stomachs were still growling so we asked our server for a dessert menu. To our surprise, they didn't have one - in fact, no desserts! Whoa, a no dessert restaurant - not even ice cream? Instead of going back to the main dishes, we remembered the tubs of ice cream waiting on us at home and decided to just call it a night..

Service was attentive and warm (water glasses never empty). Food was good but fell short for my expectation especially for a Michelin 1 starred restaurant. (again I'm comparing it to restaurants like Bouley). And although each dish was purposely presented one at a time to give guests ample amount of time to enjoy and share, my fiance and I wished they were served all at once so we could have some taste and texture contrasts. It got pretty boring eating a a whole filet of sablefish /spoon after spoon of fried rice.

Price was definitely on the steep side (3 non-filling dishes for $70+ including tax and tip )- Nevertheless,, my fiance and I had a fabulous dinner date even though our bellies didn't quite agree.

One of my favorite restaurants in the city, Danji offers a variety of tapas-style dishes, which means you can try a bunch in one evening. You can expect everything on the menu to be absolutely delicious, but in particular I have to recommend either type of slider, and the black cod. If you're feeling adventurous---or even if not, because it is amazing---go for the spicy whelk salad. Danji also offers a nice selection of drinks and cocktails. I highly recommend the soju sangria.

I used to go to Korean town when living in the east side of Manhattan so I m very happy to find Danji on the west side of Manhattan which serves authentic and delicious Korean food at reasonable prices.

The chicken wings are crispy and crunchy on the outside and juicy inside.

Service was good as well.

It s very popular so I highly recommend you make a reservation.
