Great location and beautiful views. Very well looked after
Nice course, bit out of the way if you're not staying there.
A very beautiful setting in the heart of the wine region. The locale and atmosphere are wonderful. Service was good, staff was courteous and always helpful. Could possibly do with an upgrade of the lobby / reception area to make it more open
It's a little run down, very long walks up hill between the main lobby and accommodation, would be good if golf karts were provided, im sure it's great for golfing, sadly I was not there to golf. Staff are friendly and accommodating.
Mattresses are hard as rock. Fantastic lunch but average buffet breakfast. Almost as though it's another kitchen.
Excellent layout and very helpful staff , very tough holes to start the back nine, information on hole layout for visiting golfers ..could be better,. Hard to know where some holes are without driving ahead to see . Tip stay out of the bunkers..can be penal
The course is in superb condition. The fairways are lush and the greens are fantastic, if perhaps a tad slow. Overall the course is quite demanding, lots of fun and well worth the challenge.
Nice resort. Quiet and peaceful. Good for a quiet weekend. Good breakfast buffet. Rooms were nice. Good property with some lakes, pool and golf course.
The resort is located in the hunter valley and the rooms are very well maintained. The three bedroom apartment we stayed in had a full kitchen, internet, cable tv and air con.
Resort is tired. We stayed in a refurbished room which was had a few maintenance issues. Pool area needs upgrading
Seamless check in, check out, great food, service and golf. Highly recommended
Got upgraded to a three bedroom refurbished Villa. Staff at the front desk we're very accommodating and food at the bistro was lovely.
Very disappointed as the unit we stayed in was very old and not maintained. Could not sit on the verandah as it was mould covered and had not been swept for a very long time. Bed was like a slab of concrete, shower was dirty, door lock was broken so unit was unsecured. Restaurant forgot our order when we first arrived but recovered by giving us a complimentary bottle of wine. The price charged was excessive for what we were provided. Would we stay there again? Nup - and will we tell our friends about this? Yep. Sadly, Very poor all round. We don't normally whinge about this sort of stuff but feel a responsibility to tell others about our experience.
Great golf course....new owners have spent a lot of money. Its a resort course so you can run into non golfers. Course behavior can be off. Try to get a play and stay deal, on a day without a big conference, otherwise it can be both expensive and disappointing. The kangaroos on the course are friendly at a distance. good for tourists but remember they are wild and can be very dangerous.
Great 2 bed apartment near the wine! Good breakfast
The food and service was 5 star will definitely go back. The young girl who served us was very knowledgeable friendly and welcoming. Serving size was small however meal was thoroughly enjoyed.
Great accomodation in central location, easy to access, great food and lovely staff.
Several things did not work, phone, internet, a light. When queried staff replied the place is 20 years old and it is to be expected. Everything at the resort looks tired and in need of refurbishment. Breakfast was good. There are better places to stay at the price point.
Well kept apartments, nice outlook, great for a group of friends, play golf, drink wine.
The service and meal served in the Bristo was inadequate for such an establishment.
The meals took over an hour to be delivered, were cold and the order wrong.
Not good enough.
Paid $750 for 2 nights in a refurbished room that was still incredibly outdated. Whereas our friends paid $200 for a night in a non-refurbished room that was still better than ours. Waited over an hour for dinner (burger and chicken schnitzel) and the staff were very unhelpful when we questioned where our food was. There were about 6 other tables that also ended up complaining as no one had their food. Paid $120 for 4x people for buffet breakfast with "barista made coffee" which apparently referred to the coffee machine - so another $20 on top for 4 coffees.
Went for breakfast great food. Seating arrangements a little awkward and smaller than expected. A bit difficult to access the downstairs area for injured or people with a disability. All in all pretty good.
Beautifully appointed and well maintained property. Location was second to none especially if you select a place that backs onto the bush. Owner was lovely.
Very tired accommodation. None of the little niceties or little extras you would expect for this price not even a heated towel rail. Long queues for breakfast. Very disappointed and would not recommend.
Stayed here for 2 nights & couldn't fault accommodation BUT the service at the restaurant was disgusting.
Was directed to sit on chairs outside that had bird poop & leaves all over them & there was no shade in this area.
When we asked for someone to clean our table & chairs the waitress scurried off & never returned & when we complained was told " It is what it is ".
Great tranquil location. The serenity is so splendid.. Breathtaking views all around. Pool on the the lake is the icing on the cake. The villa was class. Very spacious and comfortable, the balcony overlooking the golf course. Kangaroos are right at your front door and bird watching is a must. Would recommend this place for anyone who wants to recharge and get away from hectic city life !
We had such a great experience at Cypress Lakes Resort. Our villa was spacious, clean and tidy. The food was amazing! We got married there and Maddie our coordinator was amazing and made sure everything went smoothly. I hardly had to organise a thing. She just made everything happen! And we booked the wedding less than 2 weeks before the actual day. No stress what so ever. Highly recommend!
What an amazing place. Highly recommended if you like to wake up to beautiful scenery and kangaroos hopping past.
The facilities at the Resort are abundant whilst some things you may have to pay for such as electric bike hiring or golf, having it available makes it so much easier. The location is very central to many wineries, if you're driving super efficient but we rented the bicycles and were able to visit many within a day. The villa we stayed in was clean and had everything we needed and service was friendly and efficient.
Great accommodation, location is good if your Driving around. Appliances definitely need replacement.
Great facilities, spacious apartments, stunning views, average restaurant.
Everything was very good but nothing was exceptional. The staff are helpful, the facilities clean and the rooms spacious but in need of some updating.
Worst place I ve ever stayed at. They charge a premium for dirty accommodations, complete with mice and other things, and you can t even call to complain because the phones don t work in the rooms. Any good reviews of this place have got to be crazy or have a vested interest.
Only stopped in for a wedding ceremon but the, rooms looked very nice and the lobby was beautiful too
Great rooms very spacious and good breakfast. Only downside is we had children staying above us and the floors are very thin so we heard them running around for most of the time but this was not the resorts fault.
Huge rooms and excellent for groups. Good weekend away for mates that love golfing. Nowhere to eat after 10pm though.
Was here for a work conference. It did what it needed to do. Jeez, the walk from the villas to the restaurant can be steep and long. It was also good to have two bedroom villas so we didn't have to sleep in the same rooms.
Clean , all of the staff are amazing friendly and welcoming
Tidy resort, friendly staff and convenient location
If you want to enjoy a challenging golf course and then relax in the evening with your family in town, head to Cypress Lakes Resort Hunter Valley.
We stayed there early Jan'21 for 3 nights.
What's there for the family...depends what you were intending to do in the first place.
Kids can enjoy decent sized swimming pool, play tennis or basketball or Golf.
Family bistro is functional and provide good eating options.
Breakfast menu is standard but quite tasty. Please do include this in your accommodation booking.
The place can improve upon the actual accommodation, which I believe is let out and could be investment properties managed by Oaks.
Great place to stay.. beautiful scenery.. great staff
It's all subjective but we had a wonderful time. Shane was awesome bar lady. I didn't know what I wanted to drink and she surprised me with the perfect beverage
super fun.
Golf course was in good Condition but major issue with timing. Tee Time 12.30 and did not finish final 2 Holes due to fading light with massively slow moving groups. 5 hours for 16 holes is not good enough. To not have a Marshall on a resort course when you are looking at attracting Golfers is pretty poor.
Recently stayed there with the family for a short weekend break We were in one of the bungalows on the hill. The bungalows themselves are ok but there are dilapidated, possibly dangerous issues with the rot on the wooden balconies that are part of the units. Food was very average at the bistro - ordered a chicken schnitzel with chips and salad schnitzel was dry, salad leaves were wilted and chips over cooked. Lastly, after we had left and gotten home, I realised that I had forgot my iPhone charger I specifically had bought a longer cable version for my needs so it was something I use all the time Called the front office and was informed that my room hadn't been cleaned yet and probably wouldn't be til later that day. Left a message for someone to call me back after room had been cleaned no call back. Called again the next day and was again informed that my room had yet to be cleaned so they still didn't know if my charger had been found yet called TWO MORE TIMES with no call back. Terrible front desk with no coherent communication with the rest of their staff apparently.
Not going back there again and would say to others to book elsewhere average to say the least.
Great Villa we had for a Boys Golf weekend. Good service all around, decent buffet breakfast.
Food and drinks, all very good, a wee bit pricey though.
Stayed here at the beginning of July with 3 young kids and absolutely loved our stay. Kids had a blast swimming in the heated spa, walking around the resort, sitting in front of the fireplace in the lobby area. Very peaceful, beautiful and clean resort. Staff were very friendly and quick to help with any request. We have stayed at many resorts in the Hunter but this one takes the prize for a family resort with a great vibe! Location was also superb! Highly recommend this resort. Will definitely be returning.
Location is perfect. Rooms and furnishings are not premium. No service to comment on
Had a wonderful experience. Great place for rest and relaxation. Food was nice , rooms were great. Great amenities. Wonderful resort staff . Would definitely recommend it ....
Great course. Played there twice now and can not fault it. The staff there were friendly and the golf pro apprentice went out of his way to see we were happy.
Fantastic course, great club house, good food, cold drinks, enjoyable scenery...
Go every Christmas with the family. Always enjoy the hotels amenities, very neat a d friendly staff always ready to help
My 1st round of golf as a member here, loved it as every hole is a challenge. Lot's of room for improvement !
Lovely resort..but you cant park close to your apartment door. Atleast 32 steps up to the car.
Great location and very central to the surrounding restaurants and wineries. We stayed in a 3 bedroom villa and it was a great size with everything you would need for a get away; fridge, microwave, stove tops with cutlery and utensils, and it also had a bbq out on the deck.
Unfortunately the bar and bistro was below average, but there is plenty of great choices to choose from outside of the resort. Great stay and was at a great price!
Overpriced, golf course a bit scruffy and $9 for a beer ???
Food was amazing at function I attended, the most tender, tasty slow cooked beef that I have ever tasted in my life. Yum!
We stayed in a three bedroom villa. It was generous in size and allowed for five friends to stay together without feeling cramped. We had some great service by some of the staff there, going the extra mile. However, that wasn't consistent. The pool, the tennis court and the bathroom connected to these were not well kept. There was a little back and forth with the restaurant staff over an offer that was sent to us for cheaper breakfast, but we got there in the end. Though the food left a lot to be desired. Avoid the powdered eggs. Stay, but come here to be self sufficient
My family and I stayed in 2 three bedroom villas. The kitchen cookware and crockery was absolutely filthy, looked obviously like they had just been rinsed and not properly washed. There was food stuck to the bottom of all the pans and on almost all the plates. The cutlery was disgusting, one of the spoons even looked like it had not even been rinsed at all, it had oil and remnants of food. The bathroom was less filthy but also dirty. The shower screens were visibly unclean, with white shampoo stains on them and the toilet looked like it had just been wiped clean without any desinfectant. Hard to reach places were a brown colour from being dirty (eg. around the toilet flush button).
The phone in the main bedroom was absolutely disgusting, it looks like it has never ever been cleaned. It had hairs, grease and food stuck on where you put your ear on the handset. Really filthy.
This is THE venue. From my wedding, to weekends away, this is the place you need to go. The staff are incredible. So helpful and genuinely love to make their guests happy. Special thanks to Maddie Andrews. Shes by far the best part of this venue.
Dear Cypress Lakes staff,
A really massive thank you to those who have helped find and return my wallet.
I played a Saturday morning (beautiful course) and left my wallet in the golf cart when finishing the round (too busy counting up the scores and thinking about the 19th hole!).
Upon reporting this missing I had a call back later on the same day that it was safe and they organised postage to my home address in Sydney.
Special mention to Yvette (apologies for spelling?) who helped update me and arrange postage.
Great course with friendly and honest staff!
Many thanks again, very grateful
Andy
Stayed at a 3 bedroom villa for 2 nights while at a wedding. The house itself was nice however the service needs attention. When we arrived there was not enough towels for all the guests that were staying, the main bathroom was not clean, it looked as if the previous guests vomitted in the place and did a very poor job of cleaning it. All of the floors had not been vacummed as there was dirt on the floor in every room. We asked reception to clean the room and drop off more towels and they managed to get us 2 more late at night bringing our total to 4 towels for seven guests. This is not a cheap place to say so my expectations were much higher.
Amazing
Love spending time here, a real treat for the whole family
Love...Love...Loved this place..
Everything that was needed, was supplied.
The compliment Sherry & Red wine was a great hit
We stayed in a two bedroom apartment here, the rooms were nice but the stairs were pretty creaky. Nice place to escape the big smoke for a few days
Very bad customer support during the reservation process. Somebody on their reservation team literally hung up on me when I asked to be transferred to the complaints department. Their prices on Airbnb are a total scam. It is my belief that they don't even accept their bookings coming from Airbnb, they just have falsely advertised the prices much lower on there to draw in customers. After my booking had not been confirmed, with only days before I was scheduled to arrive, I tried to call and nobody was on staff to help me. I was told to call back. And so began a silly game of spending several days to get somebody to help me. Over several days I was on 5 different long phone calls, put on hold several times (upto 30 minutes at a time), given out-of-service phone numbers to contact, I was told that they refused to price-match me, and then I was told that an expert on their Airbnb bookings would be in contact with me within a half hour and, of course, I never heard from them. The last straw was when they told me they were now upping the price by $300. At this point I asked to be transferred to the complaints department. And they hung up on me. So unprofessional. Clearly nobody is talking to eachother, they're making false promises, and theyre advertising false prices on Airbnb. This entire process has been highly stressful and now, less than 48 hours from my departure, I'm forced to look elsewhere. Disappointed.
We stayed at one of the privately owned villas (656) and enjoyed the location. The villa had no wifi code or guide on how to get to the swimming pool. I called the reception at Cypress Lakes but they didn't know where the pool was. They were very helpful guiding us to the villa though as we got lost driving around the site with confusing signage.
Had a great weekend playing golf and staying at the resort
Nice accommodation. Great location. Nice bar and view
Quiet and comfortable place with excellent facilities for those not spending their whole day out on the golf course.
Rooms and furnishings are clean and well maintained.
However, a buggy service would be helpful or else those staying further up the hill will need to walk a ways to the main clubhouse for breakfast, gym, swimming pool, jacuzzi, bar etc
Location wise, it's only a few minutes away from Cessnock where Coles, Aldi etc is for groceries and McGuigan and other great vineyards are right outside.
A great place to stay while visiting the Hunter Valley. The accommodation is very spacious and comfortable. The resort is centrally located to all the main wineries.
Only place we'll stay! Great for kids, or just a quiet weekend away. Good food, great amenities.
Cypress Lakes is just beautiful... the grounds and the conference rooms are of a very high standard. The staff were also very accommodating.
Seriously. Took 45mins to serve food. Paid premium price and took over 45 mins to serve food. This is appalling.
Renovated room with view, great staff at check in, nice breakfast spread.
Recently refurbished room made the stay well worthwhile. Staff were efficient and friendly and the Dining Room Manager went the extra mile. The only criticism from this 77 year old is the amount of stairs involved. The resort operates gold carts but these need 'arranging' and so I did the hard yards (some pride involved) down around 20 steps from the car and then another set of around 20 up to the room. The compensation is the elevated views from the room, which are wonderful. Would definitely stay again.
Went to Cypress Lakes for a round of golf. The course was in excellent condition and we had a great time. The whole place looks fantastic. We had a few beers at the bar afterwards and that also was really nice.
Beautiful location, staff friendly and welcoming. Our room was cosy, clean and had everything we needed. It would have been 5 star but our bed was a little uncomfortable and there was a dull flickering light in the bathroom
