A beautiful country setting and near all the wineries , cheese and chocolate. The owner rang when we arrived to make sure we had everything we needed.

This is the first time I have ever posted anything, the reason why is because someone has to pull their finger out. Sadly my first review is going to be a bad one.
This resort could be the best in Hunter, but so many issues, too many to list. We have paid nearly $2,000 for 3nights with breakfast.
Today s example, went to pool with family for a swim at 8:50am Saturday morning, pool and surrounds hadn t be cleaned at all from day before towel bins overflowing and pool full of leaves. Walked up to reception and spoke to staff regarding the condition. Left pool area and at 10:20, nothing done. Walked past reception and both staff just put heads down like they were busy, knowing nothing had been done. You would think a resort would have a roster for pool area to be cleaned daily??
The breakfast, the fruit and salmon are out in open air for up to 3 hours. Although it is air conditioned it was 31 degrees by 9am. All resorts have open fridge displays to keep perishables at the correct temperature.
Management are simply not managing this resort and it reflects on their staff.
Good facilities however question cleanliness of rooms.
Booked 2 adults and 3 kids in a 2 bedroom villa. On arrival the 2 bedrooms had a queen/king. I assumed booking for 3 kids meant they each had a bed but not the case. Extra free to get housekeeping to make up a bed for our third child which we declined so she slept on the couch. Also only given 4 bathroom towels despite paying for 5 people. Had to open every draw in the kitchen to find the kettle
Kids loved the pool and tennis. Dinner has a $15 kids option which was good but no similar option for breakfast. My kids are lucky to finish a piece of toast or bowl of cereal, will not pay $35 each for them for buffet breakfast.
Every transaction has 1.5% credit card fee. Can go just about anywhere with tap and go now (cafes restaurants etc) and not get charged extra fees.
This was a real treat for us to stay here, pretty disappointed. Fees on top of fees when already at a higher price point
The accommodation is comfortable and well presented. Apartments have enjoyable bush views. There is a large, well maintained golf course, pool and spa. The bistro and prove a small but varied range of dishes, wines spirits and cocktails While the post covid menu is simple it is fresh and beautifully cooked. Service in all areas is excellent. Warning this is a spead out centre on the side of a hill. If you mobility issues please discuss these with the staff when booking. Wedding, conference and beauty spa are also available.
Rooms not exactly clean, one not ready after being told it was.
A beautiful place and amazing environment. Breakfast buffet is amazing but you may have difficulty finding healthy food for other meals if you did not go there with your own supplies. You may have a chance of seeing kangaroos right down your balcony.
Very disappointed with the service, they have had 3 months to prepare however this is a huge disaster with no Organisation. To hard to have staff service you what you want to eat, you get what your given and stiff shot if you have allergies, staff rude cause they have enjoyed being off work and don t really want to be back. No offer of the fruit platter they obviously have hidden in the back, so remember to ask for it. Coffee was give to wrong table and to top it off, by the time the food DID arrive, it was cold!!! Huge disappointment
Beautiful restaurant. And food was amazing. Would love to visit again. If you are in Hunter Valley do visit this restaurant.
Accommodation great, dinner & breakfast, atrocious.
Great location. Villas are clean and large, if you are lucky with great valley views over the vineyards. Amazing pool area x1 in photo (There are 2 more pools on site and a tennis court). Courtesy shuttle to get around if you drinking at poolside and don't want to walk back to villa.
Lovely place to stay, great food and friendly staff, was full due to a conference and consequently had issues with the hot water but very much worth it!
We stayed the weekend of February 22nd in 2020.
It was a busy weekend and I assume all weekends are busy! The hotel is quite modern, really comfortable and front desk staff were incredibly accommodating.
We paid for breakfast after booking the hotel but still in advance. The buffet breakfast was good and provided full options. The only issue we had was glasses for juice often emptied immediately and we had to wait frequently for a glass for juice. Also the restaurant had to confirm our breakfast each morning when it was booked and stated by the front desk on check in
The hotel room was a two bedroom Villa. It was very spacious with semi old furniture but otherwise comfortable and equipped with good bathrooms and facilities.
The wifi did not reach our Villa even though it was provided and it was fortunate that we did not get called on for work otherwise we would have had to seek other options for wifi.
Overall, the experience was positive and was very easily a place to return to.
Stayed for the long weekend with some friends, staff were so friendly and nice, definitly went out of there way to make us feel comfortable, an the breakfasts are to die for. Will definitly be back
Great menu, from the steak, fish curry, to the burgers and a great kids menu. Beautiful outlook too!
We stayed in a 3 bedroom villa which was a great size for the 5 of us. The set up was great and room was clean. Kids loved the kangaroos on the door step in the mornings.
Nice setting, facilities and staff. Accomodations are quite comfortable and not too expensive
Enjoy the lodge and the golf course.Close to our concert venue at Hope Estate.
Accommodation is always great and prices are good. Major complaint that the golf course never offers a discount to hotel guests.
Spacious, lot of facilities, very nice golf course and cheap. Food from bar are great.
Stopped for lunch prior to a concert at Binbadgen winery. Wonderful lunch for $20, lamb salad. It was a generous serving which also included a house wine or a beer. Great value.fabulous outlook overlooking pool and golf course. Will definitely return.
Amazing food. New menu was great. Highly recommend the barramundi fish with curry sauce.
Nice villa, had the sport channel and got to watch the rugby!
Its a great resort. Large rooms and clean. Happy to come back.
Great service, Villa's are spacious & well maintained. The breakfast buffet features everything you might want.
We really enjoyed our stay, the staff we friendly and helpful, the room was cosy and very homely (very comfy bed), we enjoyed a lovely meal in front of the fire. I wish we could have stayed longer!
Several things didn't work but the housekeeping lady (Ilana) was amazing. Without her, this would have been a 2 star rating.
Rooms are clean. Family friendly. Excellent location to all the wineries.
Checked in at 2pm was told room would not be ready for a little while. Was supposed to get a complimentry bottle of wine and a $50 voucher. Had to call reception to chase that up.
Then a work man arrives and started banging on the verandah doing maintenance. Dining is limited and I won't be back again
Perfectly located with great villas to stay in. Food. Wine and entertainment all a blink away
nice place to stay, central to wineries, good pool and ameneties
Luv this place!
It s so romantic and hidden...
Totally relaxed, gorgeous at night.
Service outstanding, golf course is beautiful nestled into the wineries..
There is no better place.
Imagine seeing a concert, so close to Cyprus lakes, and finishing of our night with a glass red and yummy cheese, this place is amazing! Tee off early thru the misty hills and winery (breathtaking)
It s all about the romance of the place not just a venue!
The Golf Course is amazing the Fairways are in beautiful condition best i have seen!!
Great spacious villa, quality bed and linens, delicious buffet breakfast.
If you are lucky enough to stay in the villa at the top of the hill you get some great views. Very nice resort complex with tennis, golf and a couple of pools. Plenty of wildlife to see too. Quick service during check in.
Cypress Lakes is a great place to unwind and relax. It is central to the beautiful Hunter Valley wineries, close by to the Vintage golf course, Crown Plaza golf course as well as its own majestic course. Accommodation in the form of townhouses in 2 and three bedrooms make it a great place for the family or a group of friends to stay. A wonderful pool, restaurant and bar.
Staff are friendly and helpful.
You would be doing yourself a favor by visiting and a stay.
All just 2 hours drive North of Sydney.
Cheers.
Nice place to stay in Hunter valley. It is in the middle of everything.
Oaks Cypress lakes Bistro and bar is a part of the oaks cypress lakes resorts. However, you can walk in to this restaurant /bar even if you've not booked an accommodation in this resort. This place looks amazing. However, their menu has very limited items and the food tastes average. Also, we ordered for 3 veggie sandwiches and took them forever to get it on the table. 1hr 15mins to be very precise. It's not worth it to walk in to the restaurant here unless you are staying in this resort. There are a lot of other places that are far better.
Horrible! Rooms are old and dated. The service is really bad for all meals. No room service. Breakfast is included but asked to take it away and was advised it was $34 for the box. I do t know how they claim to be 4 1/2 stars. It s a dump with horrible service.
Great stay. Large well equipped villas. Perfect family spot.
The resort is good but ageing. There are a few rough edges but it's a pretty good value larger family stay in what it's becoming a pretty expensive destination.
Great 4 star hotel in Hunter region with nice rooms and fantastic environment. Reasonably priced rooms which definitely worth a stay. Would go there again.
Friendly and helpful reception staff, clean spacious rooms. Showers have 2 settings (interior of the sun or pluto's south pole) but otherwise can't fault the place.
Came here with 16 people to play a round of golf over the long weekend. Waited over an hour for food with constantly being told it s coming when it wasn t. Service was rude when we questioned where our food was. Will definitely not be returning, crown plaza is definitely a lot better. For the price we paid to attend it is definitely sub standard, very poorly run. Will not be returning.
Great golf course. The resort pool was just lovely.. peaceful looking across the lake and golf course. I didnt really use too much of the facilities. The apartments are fair altho could do w some refreshing. Still, sitting on balcony watching the kangaroos jumping around the 11th hole was pretty cool!
Very poor condition, needs a major revamp. Looks like nothing has been done to it since the day it was built.
I don't recommend staying there.
Pretty amazing place. Easy and friendly check in, great meals and plenty of drinks range at the bar. Rooms are tidy and large, widlife come up to the balconies of rooms on the edge of the golf course.
I have been waiting almost 6 weeks for a refund that was approved on the 11th of February (Now 23/03/21). After countless emails and phone calls I am not any closer to receiving ANY money back. The customer service ladies are lovely and try to help, but there is a clear disconnect between them and upper management/accounts team.
We paid $550 a night to stay in a 2 bedroom apartment that was dirty, damaged and unfinished. There was no floor in the kitchen and tiles were removed so you could see concrete, which was filthy. The kitchen benches were chipped back to brown laminate and the single bed had a leg missing so you couldn t sleep in the bed without falling out. The property was riddled with cobwebs, a necklace hanging from light in kitchen, used matches in fireplace, cups were dirty and the general presentation was unacceptable. This is the first negative review I ve written but wanted other people to know how disappointing the apartment was.
I was really looking forward to getting in the spa tonight but it wasn t working. Maintenance can look at it in the morning but unfortunately that s no good to me at all.
Rooms (2 bedroom unit) are okay but not nearly as good as the price would suggest. A few things noticeably broken (air conditioning vents, dishwasher handle etc). Bit dated, needs repainting and in such looks like it needs a bit more of a clean, even if it really doesn t. The power point for the tv was hanging off the wall. Even so I tried (dangerously) to use it to charge my phone and it didn t even work.
Reception was very helpful when tv/Foxtel didn t work. Fixed it.
Food is gorgeous from restaurant, catering and the bar. The promised Barista made coffee was a coffee machine. Or pay extra $5 for a real coffee at nearby bar.
Coffee/hot water in urns etc for conference, was always only just above luke warm. That was 3 days of disappointment each break.
Shuttle bus service and staff- fantastic.
Overall- I personally wouldn t come back, I d get accommodation locally elsewhere and drive in to conference/function etc.
Gorgeous breakaway from the buzz of Sydney. Absolutely loved the tranquillity of the resort and if you're a golfer... This would be paradise
Staff great, twin share townhouses ordinary, Foxtel did not work, handles fell off shower taps, 1 bowl in kitchen. Unable to access the locked rooms until after 7.30pm, Friday. room 672
Buffet breakfast at 7.30am on Sunday 0 out of 10 staff fantastic food shocking. Had either a rodent hair in my food or human pubic
Beautiful place to stay and visit when you're in the Hunter Valley
Great location in the Hunter Valley
Close to all your needs.
Location top notch, natural surroundings also amazing, resort is very good, but a little tired in places
Poor service. Breakfast situation was a disaster. Had to wait more that 1 hour to get inside. Low quality food and coffee machine broken. Hight humidity in unit, old furniture and many insects & spiders. No COVID safe instructions followed. A complete mess...
We visited Cypress Lakes for a game of golf, and found everything to be easy and convenient. Everything we needed to hire was available, food was able to be ordered and picked up 3 holes later. Adhere to the dress code and you will enjoy this course.
Can't wait to stay here again!
Staff were fantabulous! Accomodayion was well above personal expectations, apart from the bathrooms... little outdated but functional and very clean!
Loved the view! Will definitely stay here again! For more than one nigjt next time
This resort is so faded, tired and depressing but the final blow was when we had our showers this morning and the hot water turned off almost immediately...alerted Reception who basically thanked us for the feedback and nothing else. No mention of getting someone from maintenance to take a look or move rooms.
Nice food. Very friendly staff. Only let down was variety on the menu. Highly recommended if you have kids, plenty of floor space and nice crowd. Will definitely come back, hopefully then the menu has more options!
We have been many times before but the new owners have let the place slide a bit. Looks very run down, certainly not what it used to be. Have to say disappointed and unlikely to return to what used to be a favourite place of ours.
We got used, wet and dirty towels when we checked In. Very bad with COVID19 these days. Now we don t know rooms been cleaned or not.
+ this is not a 4 start hotel. Try Crown Plaza instead.
(I m sorry for leaving a negative review)
Lovely rooms and outlook. Nice place to stay even if you are not a golfer
Highest recommendation possible best service amazing staff will be back
A little expensive, especially considering the fairways were a little dry. In desperate need of some watering between the tees and greens.
The greens were amazing, some of the finest I have played on. Absolutely loved them.
There was no discount even though we were staying at the resort. I thought a discount 2-4-1 or even 25% off would have been a nice gesture.
Wouldn't return for the price but would highly recommend if you can get a deal from somewhere to get on at a reduced rate.
Beautiful and expansive property built around the Cypress lakes Golf resort. Lots of space to walk around with also the odd possibility of catching a kangaroo during the fresh morning walk. Check-in can be made a bit more welcoming by adding a greeting before getting on to the process of forms and keys. You can drive from the reception to the room and park closer to the room, but reading the little signboards in the night from inside your car can be a challenge. Room itself is super spacious with bush views from the balcony, if you have one. Clean and neatly maintained bathrooms. Both the rooms were ensuite, which was fantastic and there is also an additional toilet on the ground floor. Limited options available on the room service menu and in the cafe / restaurant as well, but the food was good. The toiletries were on the ok side, considering it was difficult to smell the labelled lemongrass, tea tree fragrance especially in the body wash, while the rest did. Check-out process was friendly, quick and smooth, ending a fantastic stay. Overall a very good experience!
A great place to rest! The restaurant food is good with lots of affordable options, great golf course and you can see cangurus everywhere ... Specially in the morning! My first time in the Hunter Valley was there and I loved ever since! I recommend 100%.
Great facilities. Our villa was a little run down but good value for money
This place was probably the coolest in the 1980s, but kind of needs a few upgrades. Still a nice resort and no complaints. Great water pressure!
Didn t play golf, but the course appeared in good shape. No hotel rooms, only villas here, FYI.
Reviewing only the golf course, it was excellent. The fairways, greens and surrounds were in great shape and the greens keepers were on the job maintaining all surfaces. A challenging course but also extremely rewarding when you hit it down the middle.
Nice place. Not quite up to hosting a large conference
Fantastic hide away in Polkobin. Great villas, phenomenal golf course and close to everything
A challenging and interesting golf course that has great views and a fair amount of water and variety of holes. It has a very nice club house as well as a resort should you wish to spend a very relaxed few days in a really prosperous wine region.
Good family apartment and space.amazing view.. Great golf course..but we did have a not so great and nothing good to say about there breakfast dine in and service not sure if it's bcos we were too early or they had no time to care. And also the food was not great. Wouldn't reccomend there breakfast. But we loved therr apartments we would have rather cooked our own breakfast and probably had a better menu..
Stayed for two nights in two bedroom villa. Well appointed, modern and clean. Big TV in main room and in both bedrooms. Comfy beds, and large en-suite to both rooms. Nice view of the golf course. Excellent buffet breakfast and lunches. Great location not far from most of the major wineries.
The setting was beautiful - with a scenic golf course dotted with lakes in the background. Reception area is cosy and staff provided excellent service.
The biggest let down was the room. It is dated and it shows. The bathroom windows was permanently open, with two metal rods screwed into place to stop anyone from closing them. This meant if you closed the bathroom door, it would rattle but if you leave it open you could feel a cold draught coming through.
The bedroom windows also had a gap which caused the blinds to flap whenever there was a breeze. The beds were not only lumpy but they also had a pronounced ditch that made it impossible to feel comfortable.
All the issues made sleeping almost impossible.
Breakfast buffet was the standard fare from the 1980s - it would have made a huge impact if they used local produce that highlighted the Hunter Valley specialties.
Finally, the gym was more akin to a home gym than something that befits a resort.
Amazing view. Great Villa clean everything you could need or want. Handle to all wineres and some wonderful places to go eat at.
Covid has made resorts not great value for money. Social distancing sometimes means that more staff is needed, for example in the bistro. But they have not increased the staff to guest ratio, leading to long queues.
The apartment was clean and had everything, but the bathrooms need a lift.
Great location and facilities. Good for gold, conference or leisure
Great front of desk staff. Helpful and considerate.
Were visiting as part of End2end festival. Beautiful pools and superb golf course
Choice of cabins or hotel style accommodation
Only 2 mobility parking spots near the reception and both occupied so had to park a fair distance away.
Check-in staff helpful and process was quick.
Great location and outlook from the villa we stayed in was very nice.
Looked like fairly new carpets throughout and furniture was nice.
Walls could do with a paint but bathrooms definitely are dated and old and in need of a makeover.
Although generally clean there was lots of dust on shelves etc and light fittings full of dead bugs.
Overall I would rate location as excellent, staff good, accommodation good but could be cleaner and bathrooms need an update and lastly a bit pricey for the level of accommodation.
Nice enough. A bit dated and not much atmosphere. Most cabins have a bush outlook and verandah you can just hangout and enjoy. Air con in all rooms, well equipped kitchen
Overall a nice place to stay.
Average. Power points upstairs didn't all work. No plugs for bath that fitted. Fireplace looked good but didn't work properly. Back door wouldn't lock without having to lift it!! One soap for 4 people. Tried to order a platter but was told there was a wedding on so they were too busy!?!?
