Positives: Good location with beautiful views from the villas. Good customer service!!
Negatives: the villa we stayed in was in dire need of update and cleaning. We discovered a lot of ants (including dead ones) in the kitchen. The bathroom fans were broken and the decor also needed minor update

The good:

The good:
Bed was comfortable and clean
Reception service was good
Lovely quiet setting in the bush

The bad:
The cleanliness of the villa was definitely sub-par. There was pubic hairs on the basin and a squished cockroach on the sliding bathroom door. Sliding doors on cupboards were broken and the whole place was just run down and in need of maintenance.

Breakfast was ok

Breakfast was ok
Swimming pool was okay
But there was a bunch of unidentified hair on the toaster

Very relaxing surrounds . Our appartment was comfortable size with a bush view. At the down stairs bistro watch some golf while you eat inside or out overlooking a well manicured garden and dam . Close to lots of wineries, Hunter Valley Gardens and other entertainment in the area

Facilities dated and unclean - rooms advertised as fully renovated - only half room redone - toilet off main room was smelly service was slow and breakfast took over 45 minutes to be seated. Tables in main foyer on balcony were unclean and uncleared - no staff available - would not return or recommend

A perfect place to go for vacation in hunter valley. Well maintained property good facilities available in this resort. Good options in the breakfast.
Was upgraded to 1 room villa which had everything I needed to stay comfortable.
The only issue I found was the streets are not properly lit in night and is not safe to drive.
Definitely recommend this place.

Please please fix this place up!!! The roads in the "resort" are pot hole hell, the place looks like derelict government housing - for a "resort" the gardens are not well kept, the villa which I stayed needed a good paint, the kitchen needed a new bench top and the bathroom a good demould and vacuum. If I could give this place 0 stars I would :( this is a 2.5 star motor in at best.

Rooms were comfortable (loved the gas fireplace) and in a great location. We had a family of five stay in the 3 bedroom villa with plenty of room. I have to mention the lack of items in the kitchen though - we struggled to cook meals with the basic items provided. For instance the oven didn't have one single rack - cooking pizzas was rather difficult! I'm just glad we didn't pay full price (Groupon voucher). We didn't use the pool etc as it was too cold and it was too far from our room - the accommodation units are spread out all over this expansive resort.

Beautiful place for golfers and wine tasting area ,although we ordered a couple of coffee's ,mine was a cappuccino, it was delivered without a spoon, when I asked about one, I was told they run out of spoons! but I was given a straw!! Enough said!

We stayed here over the weekend for a friends wedding and i can not recommend them enough, the rooms are lovely, and the staff were friendly, attentive and went above and beyond, AND THE FOOD WAS AMAZING!!!
Our friends who got married also advised that the function manager was so good to them and went above and beyond for them to ensure they're big day was perfect, so thank you for all the guests from the Swift/Laing wedding, you guys were amazing! 10/10

The room was beautiful - very homey and clean. The facilities at the hotel (tennis court, pool and golf course) are amazing! The hotel is located close to many of the vineyards as well which is very convenient.

Great golfing resort, if you're into that kinda thing. And even if you're not, it's a central location in the Hunter Valley wine region that's quite close to Roche and the pub and the smelly cheese joint.

Great customer service. The rooms were well presented. However there was a lot of ants running around the kitchen and bathroom. Must be summer season. Other than that it was well priced and great location.

Very disappointing!

Very disappointing!
We had booked a weekend away with friends and chose the 3 bed villa. We definitely weren't delivered the room shown in the photos online.
The kitchen wasn't equipped, we called reception for some champagne glasses, and we were told they had run out. Run out of champagne glasses, at a wedding venue in Wine Country!! Unbelievable
Each plate in the cupboard was dirty, covered in baked in, old food. We had to request clean plates.
The water jug had lipstick around the rim from its last use! Avoid everything in the kitchen, just disgusting.

The dishwasher was broken..
The bed sheets were dirty

The only positive is the location, but we wouldn't recommend the Cypress Lakes Resort.

Definitely not what we expected. Overall very disappointed and would never return.

I stayed here with my young family.

The good:

- Peaceful and private resort
- Our room was quite large
- Breakfast was good
- Was quite cheap

To improve:

- Restaurant was not open any of the 4 days we were there contrary to what was on their website
- It took us a while to walk to the main resort facilities from our room
- Staff weren't extremely helpful (e.g. Asking restaurant staff for a teaspoon the reply was "they are in the cupboard in the second drawer")
- a lot of the resort and rooms haven't been updated in a while.

It is a golf resort but the usually have conferences and other functions. The accommodation is quite good. A bit outdated but clean. Service from staff is likewise very good. Unfortunately it is about 2 1/2 drive from Sydney. No activity for the night. If not into golf, guests can go out and visit the numerous vineyards during the day. The nearest urban atea would be Cessnock.

Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort in the Hunter Valley is a nice place to spend time with the family or friends for a few days. The villa style rooms are clean and tidy but in need of a little upgrade. The beds and pillows are comfortable and the rooms are spacious. The pool area is nothing special but ok. The breakfast buffet area can get extremely crowded around 8.30-9.30am.

First we can't check in until after 2pm..rhats fine so we go & have lunch and the food took over 40 min (burgers & chips), and it was cold ??? Then we finally are able to check in, but we weren't told it was 1km away from reception. They gave us terrible directions as we got lost and they didn't state that we were in the wellness centre, which is another entity altogether. Had they made that clear that we would be out in the bush we would never have booked and paid the small fortune for what we got. We didn't eat there again and could not wait to leave.

A highly recommended resort to spend nights in the Hunter, whether you re a golfer or not. Professional staff and nice villas that will definitely meet your needs. 3 swimming pools, a fully equipped gym and restaurants on site.

Over priced. Various things broken in rooms. Pools & food good. Carpark near reception inadequate (golfers use half of it). Very busy on weekends. Rooms too far from breakfast, offer limited shuttle service.

Overall: nice but will probably look for something else around the area next time.

Pros

family friendly place to stay with a top rated golf course on site. Kids and family have loads to do including swimming and tennis. Golf shop on site too.
Reasonably priced and better location compared to other locations in the hunter. Food reminds me of airport lounge food.

Cons

Accommodation is mostly new but details and finishings are lacking in some places. Some things just don't work well like sliding doors and tv settings etc.
Place is humungous so you need to pretty much drive around the place unless you are happy to walk 5 to 10 minutes to each location i.e. 5 min to food places, 5 min to the golf course, 5 min to the pool, 10 min back home
Most disappointing thing was the cleanliness of everything.
Dead bugs in the cutlery drawer.
Cockroaches in room (and went into my shoe) (apparently expected given accommodation is outdoors)
Flies everywhere around the kitchens and dining areas
Plates aren't washed clean in the breakfast buffet dining area.
Got photos so have a look

Absolutely fantastic hotel. Highly recommend staying here if you are visiting the Hunter. The villas are brilliant and extremely comfortable. Huge range of amenities, 3 pools, tennis courts, golf course and it is all central to everything.

Outstanding service and food, I've stayed for a week while doing a course in singleton and booked a 2 bedroom villa as my Mother had come over from the UK to visit. While I was away in the days I would come back to hear how friendly and thoughtful the staff had been even taking my mum for a guided kangaroo site seeing buggy drive. The evening dinners were something to behold so much so I would occupy my drive to singleton thinking about what I would have that evening, I'm thinking of stopping over on way to Newcastle in future simply to eat at the restaurant.

It s a nice resort and location to stay in Hunter Valley. The rooms are spacious for stay.
However the rooms are not up to standards as expected and need to be renovated and kept clean. Bathroom door was like sliding hanger, In-house telephone not working, WIFI connectivity is painful , Ironing board can t be used, fittings broken. No housekeeping for 2N stay.
Had room on ground level and were unable to catch good sleep as gets very noisy (floor, tv etc) if there is any booking or family upstairs.

Beautiful grounds amongst the bush. Wake up early and take a walk to see grazing kangaroos and wallabies.
The $20 lunch special is great value and the meals in the resort restaurant are nice but somewhat overpriced.
We stayed in Villa accommodation which was nice and the beds comfortable. However, the shower intermittently ran cold and we had curdled long life milk in fridge for tea/coffee.
The other disappointing experience was requesting one night-cap from the bar at 9.50pm on a Saturday night only to be told that the bar closed early (should have been 10pm). Being a resort isolated from amenities and the reception staff simply shrugging their shoulders at me, was extremely underwhelming service.

The resort is in a beautiful location and short distance to most wineries.
The rooms were nice and large, I dont know that you would call a microwave and a small bar fridge a Kitchenette but it was what we needed for the 2 nights we were there.

Only negative to our stay was the shower as it was horrible. The shower head was small and gave little water and you could change the settings at all. And it took 10-15 mins to order room service as they didnt answer the phone so had to call reception to be put through that way.

Other than this, It was a beautiful relaxing stay and we would stay here again.

Our trip was wonderful. The rooms were nice and clean and comfortable. Pools were great too, especially the lagoon pool. We had kitchen and all but we had no time to cook. Buffet breakfast had lots of variety and inclusions for vegetarians. Lovely place. Will visit again.

Love this place.

Love this place.
I used to work there, great food

This resort was right near the hunter valley gardens. Less than a 5 minute drive. We stayed in a 3 bedroom 2.5 bath villa. It was very spacious. The resort amenities (3 pools restaurant & bar) were all very nice and clean. Accomodation was reasonably priced. We would definately stay here again.

Absolutely stunning resort with an amazing golf club. Would rate this as the best in the Hunter Valley. Even with the current drought in the valley they are keeping the fairways and greens in pristine condition (as long as you stay on the fairway!) the buggys are modern and have a built in touch screen with digital scorecard and GPS assisted maps. The wild life you see on the course is an added bonus with plenty of rabbits, kangaroos, birds and lizards. Can't wait to stay and play here again.

Room is awful. Cannot be;I eve we have paid up for a premier apartment and this is our room it s awful. Old and very dated dirty plates and cutlery and greasy chopping board just filthy. Never again. I do not recommend at all it s very dated

Not what I expected....Air conditioning downstairs in villa didn t work and was hanging off the wall. Phones and wifi also didn t work, the microwave screen couldn t be read!
The tennis racquets from the pro shop had no grips and the balls were old and didn t bounce, when I mentioned this to the pro shop the response was appalling it s a golf club, what do you expect . Considering they offer tennis for the people that are staying at the resort they should have equipment for the guests that s usable & not falling apart in your hands.
The breakfast restaurant food and staff were excellent, a total contrast to my other comments.

fantastic stay. very large rooms with big comfortable beds, nice fireplace, well furnished and big kitchen. The resort grounds are stunningly beautiful and very peaceful. It makes you feel like you are on a retreat in a green wonderland. Breakfast also had many options, we had difficulty getting a seat and noticed the food ran out quite quickly though, but it was consistently replenished after a little while.
The location is also very central to all the wineries and eateries.
I would definitely recommend staying here.

Tired fitout and unhelpful tired staff

Tired fitout and unhelpful tired staff

The pools are lovely as is the setting. However, the accommodation is tired and needs to be refurbished. The staff are unhelpful. We booked a fold away bed, reconfirmed our request a week out and when checking in. No bed was delivered. When raised we were advised that they don't have any more fold away beds and that's it. ..... After many calls reluctantly a mattress was deliver to our unit and my wife and I had to carry it upstairs. Everything is just too much trouble for reception. The staff at the bar are lovely. This is not a multi star resort.

Can't believe we paid such premium price for the villas. I am still in shock and this experience is almost ruining our entire trip. The rooms are horrible and nowhere close to the pictures at their website. Two unmatched dirty couches, smelly bathrooms.. oh my gosh!
