We had an excellent stay here. The staff were friendly and efficient. We were particularly impressed with the staff at breakfast who were very helpful serving the covid safe buffet.
Just passed through, but the resort looks great! So many people about playing golf, there were lots of kangaroos sharing the greens as well! Would consider coming back to stay!
Absolutely beautiful, stunning views and the height of affordable luxury.
The Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort to begin with in the ideal location, close to a variety of wineries and the Hunter Valley Gardens. The ideal location possess a picturesque scenery from all angles, offering an outstanding view of the golf course and lake from reception and main clubhouse.
The rooms were also impressive, hosting beautiful views of neighbouring vineyards and stunning scenery. The rooms are spacious offering bathrooms off each bedroom (depending on villa). The rooms were spotless as were the amenities.
My reason for a loss of star is divided into two things.
First; the state of the pool area.
This downfall is derived from the chaotic state of the furniture, providing limited places to sit and a unmaintained look to the pool. Most chairs and tables were crowded into a corner of grass that had become mud, while large vacant space on tiling was available with no sun coverage.
Second; the overall maintenance.
Things to notice were the broken pool gate, the lifted tiles by the pool edge with a witches hat to signify danger, and the state of the timber. The timber is purely a matter of inevitable weathering though is being to make balcony decking look dated.
I wouldn't hesitate to return and recommend anyone to stay or play a game of golf on Golfers Digest #88 course.
The place is beautiful and well maintained, but it is kind of isolated. If you have a car and bring your own supplies you could have a quality time
Great location in the beautiful Hunter Valley. Friendly staff and a great breakfast.
car got broken into while parked out front of apartment.
still...great room.
I have stayed at Cypress Lakes a number of times and always enjoyed the experience, BUT, today I tried to book in for next year as I am coming to the hunter to see a concert, and Cypress Lakes have almost quadrupled their room rate to take advantage of the event. This has not happened in the past and I am disgusted. I would understand even doubling the room rate, but to go from a little over $300 per night for a two bedroom villa to over $1000 per night is revolting. I will never stay there again and will ensure that I let all my friends that I had previously recommended to daty away !!
Great resort. Had a really good time with a few friends for a weekend. Accommodation was stunning, it was phenomenal. My only qualm is the service in reception needs a bit of work. Not a lot of info as toward things to do in the surrounding areas and food isn t great in the bar. But the villas are 10/10, pools are great and so is the golf course. Very easy to book a wine tour also with pick up from the resort for $60 which is worth doing
Very comfortable and spacious villas for a family of 4. Loved the ambience and the swimming pool
Beautiful grounds and spacious apartments! Would recommend coming back here :)
We booked a wellness suite but didn't realise it was a full on retreat which isn't really our thing. We spoke with Ryan who worked at reception and he changed rooms for us with absolutely no hassle which we appreciated greatly. Appreciated his professionalism and service. looking forward to our 5 nights here.
Challenging golf course great food and accommodation
The Oaks resort is located well in the Hunter Valley. The room we stayed was good: TVs in the living room and the bedroom, a spa and a balcony with a view over the valley. We couldn't cook in the kitchen though as there was only a microwave oven and no stove tops. The food at their pub-style restaurant was very decent.
Would stay here again. We had a 2 bedroom apartment for 2 adults and 2 kids. Plenty and space, very comfortable and didn't even know we had neighbours.
We stayed over the ANZAC day long weekend for a night. It was a horrible experience, the room is old and definitely need refurbishment. The air-conditioner is not working, the lights triipped in the middle of the night, the dishwasher is broken, and worse of all the reception never picks up the phones so we had to drive to the reception everything we need to get something fixed. The whole experience does not justify the price we paid, will not recommend this at all.
For what your paying its better to stay somewhere else. The photos look a lot nicer and the bathroom needed maintenance as the shower was leaking. During COVID-19 the staff couldn t handle the bookings and it was a waiting game for breakfast and dinner. The golf course was really nice.
Great resort with a good golf, swimming facilities. The breakfast was good too and the service was nice.
We went to thr hunter for lovedale long lunch and stayed at cypress lakes. Great accommodation in their 2 bedroom townhouses. We had time to go to the pool and spa area which was fantastic. They had live music at the bar which was great. We had dinner at their restaurant, which was disappointing even though the servings were big.
Such a beautiful, relaxing and restorative setting for a weekend getaway.
Golf course and facilities were exceptional.
Location is divine and enjoyed the option to walk to wineries (Cockfighter's Ghost and Tullochs)
Accommodation was ideal, basic in design but everything you need, including Foxtel equivalent to watch Sunday footy. Beds were really comfortable though a sharp knife in the kitchen and a spare bin bag would go a long way.
Overall highly recommend Cypress Lakes as your Hunter Valley accommodation option.
Awesome, staff are very well organised,
Very well presented
Great little escape area to relax and rejuvenate, ample amounts of parking, serene views and a good selection of wine & food.
It's lovely up there and very hilly it's like driving around like a rollercoaster and the views are amazing . Awesome
Cypress Lakes is a lovely course in the Hunter Valley. Course was well maintained, challenging format but pretty manageable for average handicappers. Greens were slick and tough to get a handle on which made for an interesting day put. We were dissapointed to pay $110 each and not be able to finish all 18, even though we arrived at the earliest tee slot for social players on the Saturday....
I called up to enquire about prices for a large group getaway I wanted to book rooms for and was transferred to a sales representative. Having worked in hospitality and sales myself, I am big on customer service and usually am not disappointed. However, this time I was shocked. Not only was the Sales representative unfriendly, sarcastic, and passive aggressive, but he also did not email me as he said he would (although he had a very bad attitude about needing to send me an email, so I'm not surprised). It has been 2 weeks now and I'm thoroughly disappointed at the lack of customer service given. I don't post many reviews, but I felt the need to in this case as hopefully this will motivate sales staff to be more friendly and helpful towards their prospective guests so that they do not lose more sales in the future.
Check-in was easy and fast. The villa was clean, neat and tidy with all the accessories you would need for an extended stay. The restaurant was great with amazing food and fantastic service. The bistro was busy and it did take a while to get your food but there was live entertainment to pass the time. I would happily recommend Oaks Cypress Lakes to anyone visiting Pokolbin.
Pretty good value. The staff are very kind and accommodating. The villas are starting to be a bit dated, but I'm told there is a plan to update them. If you want a decent central location to tour the Hunter, you could do a lot worse. The good in the bistro is nice too!
Really enjoyed the course and facilities. With all the great beers being brewed in and around the Hunter though it was disappointing to see exactly zero of them on tap in the bar.
Played a round of golf for a friend's birthday. Was impressed from the start with the heads up display in the carts, to the immaculate tees, fairways and greens. Will be back for sure.
Run down. Lack of parking. If you don't play golf don't bother. I never had my beds made. I was given compensation but that doesn't change my review.
We have stayed at this resort many times and we have always enjoyed the experience. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The golf course is also in good condition and challenging. We hope to return soon.
This place is absolutely Devine but Wifi has been inoperative for both nights we stayed.
This place is great to stay at if you don t have any other choices in the hunter. We stayed in the 1 bedroom apartment which was yet to be renovated. The first night the bed felt dirty and it gave me rashes.. I raised it with the reception and they apologised and the next night the bed was much better. But still.. it shouldn t of been like that the first night!
Also I gave them the okay to contact me for deals... I just didn t know they would call once a week..
Nice one it was huge one we could feel that we are in a forest. As kanngaroos were roaming also snakes.... We enjoyed there good breakfast.
Lovely and helpful staff, beautiful and clean location - food and coffee could be better though.
Thats the View of our Breakfast its so beautiful so relaxing... and the breakfast is so yummy too its buffet style so u can just comeback as much as u can very helpful staff member too....highly recommended
Great location......the villas are very spacious and clean.....full kitchen to cook if you want.....great balcony overlooking the golf course.....breakfast buffet was included and this was very good also.....would recommend...
Lovely and well furnished units set in serene and private bushland settings, often with golf course views.. Kangaroos and birdl ife abound close to your back deck. Excellent facilities include pools and gym. Great breakfast menu but units have well equipped kitchens too.. Close to major Pokolbin wineries and tourist facilities.
The villa has just been renovated and the stay was very good. The kids love the swimming pool. The view is excellent and.
We ve stayed at Cypress Lakes a few times over the years, primarily for the golf course (which was in great condition) but our stay in December will be our last.
Very tired villa and not very clean. We actually cleaned the kitchen and outdoor before we were comfortable using the space. The bugs and mouse poo in the kitchen were just the icing on the cake. Needless to say it was not cheap to stay during the Xmas break.
The long winded email from Hunter Stayz about ensuring we leave it as clean as we found it even though we we paid for cleaning made us video the villa before settling in to ensure we didn t get stung for any surprises.
We don t mind paying premium prices but at least ensure everything is clean and in good order.
There are plenty of places to stay in the Hunter; literally pick any other place than this.
Located in the beautiful Hunter Valleyand and nestled amongst some of the most premium wine producers. Oaks is a large resort offering a variety of facilities, including a pro-golf course and country club, two restaurants and scenic views.
Golf course is really beautiful and certainly challenging. Very nice facilities for drinks and a meal after the game, food was quite good.
Pleasant check-in experience. Rooms set as suites in a natural bush setting. Very quiet and peaceful.
Great location. Good facilities close to the action in Pokolbin. Was a little dusty in places but I am 6" 3.5'.
Beautiful outlook from villas onto the course.
Nicely designed accommodation. Very comfortable.
The fittings and fixtures were showing a bit of wear and tear.
Peaceful.
Nice course with a bit of challenge. Very well maintained.
Pretty nice venue. Facilities and rooms are well equiped and very large. Nicely set out. The staff sometimes are a little abrupt / inept or perhaps we're just in the off season. But they're very nice and attentive. Quite happy all in all.
Absolutely fantastic getaway
Love this place and will come back for sure
Close to everything in the hunter valley
Rooms were absolutely amazing clean comfortable and perfect place and the staff in reception were very helpful
Great game of golf. Sadly a bit slow but enjoyed it
Bistro was amazing, accommodation was homely and comfortable
Hunter Valley is one of my favorite place to visit and Cypress Lake is my choice of accommodation. Golf course has improved a lot as well!!
Great location! If you re looking for somewhere quiet and cozy with a great view, then Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort is the place for you. Kitchen is fully stocked with appliances. The rooms are very spacious.
Restaurant is made up of some chairs and tables. Spider webs in rooms toilet. Also in main reception outside not presentable
Outdoor sirting area near pool same concern. It feels the place does not care anymore but they charge alot
The room was clean and tidy, but needs a freshen up. The golf course was well maintained and carts clean.
The biggest disappointment was the restaurant. We had dinner only once. Meals were very ordinary, took over 1 hour to get, and even the basic snitty was burnt, chips cold, one meal didn't even come till AFTER we complained. The restaurant wasn't busy and no excuse for such a poor effort. I never generally complain, but this time I was really disappointed. Kudos that they refunded our meal cost straight away, which only indicated to me, we weren't the first to complain.
The Hunter Valley is know for good accommodation, food and wine, but this was a let down and we are unlikely to be back Cypress Lakes anytime soon.
Beautiful location. Spacious room. Excellent customer service.
Very accommodating staff, went out of their way to help. Peaceful and beautiful location, walking distance to some lovely wineries.
Really good. I booked a two bedroom villa, it feels like home. My family really liked it.
Stayed in a two-bedroom villa. Very comfortable home with parking right outside shops and restaurants 15mins away at Cessnock. Lovely views and accommodation
The location is great for a weekend away from the city. Staying in a private residence so no access to the hotel pool but the property is beautiful.
Very pleasant resort, staff are excellent and accommodating, beautiful surroundings.
Accommodation of 3 bedroom villa was fabulous but bistro on Friday night with our booking of 30 people was disappointing due to up to 2 hours wait for our food
Outside facilities are ok
But the room was not ok there was a hair bunch on the toaster
Great conference facilities. Accommodation is spacious and kept very tidy. Wi-fi facilities weren't able to cater to the 200+ attendees at our corporate function and mobile 4G coverage on the Optus network was patchy. Breakfasts and dinners provided were above average but catered morning tea and lunches at our function were poor and we ran out of lunch on 2nd day and it was not replenished adequately. Staff were always courteous and helpful.
Nice spacious villa's in close proximity to all the main vineyards and the Hunter Valley Gardens
Excellent service, the staff make it very easy to stay here.
Everything you can expect from a big resort, in my opinion it lacked character, otherwise, a good stay.
Great golf course, and amazing buffet breakfast! Rooms are abit outdated though
My 1st disappointment was no air con in 43 degree heat downstairs in the bistro. Everyone there was drenched in sweat - very unpleasant and staff shouldn t have to work in those conditions either!
My 2nd disappointment was the food in the restaurant upstairs. I was a table of 4 and no one was particularly impressed with their food which took 40 minutes to arrive. I ordered the cauliflower steak which was a cold piece of soggy cauliflower!
This is the 2nd time I have stayed as it was really good the first time.
This time around, it was just okay but embarrassing that this is the hotel I organised for friends who were visiting from the UK and this is what we had to deal with.
Rooms are great which gets my 2nd star. Service okay but lack of staff on reception and in the restaurant.
Fix your air con!
Lovely setting. great facilities. Nice food.
Had unfortunate incident of our units power tripping over night. I'm sure it's an isolated incident but wondering if they will offer us some sort of compensation. Nothing yet was last weekend.
Great views. Clean accommodation. Fantastic place for friends and family.
The villa is spacious that's the only positive I have
The toilet in the ensuite didn't work
The tv in the main area would not connect, kept saying no signal.
In the morning before heading out for the day we let them know there were a few issues. Reception were dismissive and said they would get maintenance out to check.
Upon our return the TV was working. But cutting in and out on reception which was annoying, still no fox, sliding door fixed ..Nothing else fixed or cleaned
Would give them no star rating if I could. Very dissapointed.
They are keen to take your money. Just not as keen to service your needs. Don't waste your hard earned coins!
The accommodation is lovely, very comfortable and well equipped. The golf course is spectacular and the bistro food is great. The only reason it did not get 5 stars is because we have stayed twice now and both the premier villas we have stayed in could use some TLC. In one the shower leaked onto the floor on the bathroom, not a big deal however it did make the floor towel very wet. In the other the hot water was not a consistent temperature when you were in the shower and would need adjusting.
In saying that, we would go back and stay tomorrow. The accommodation perfectly fits our needs and for the price the inconveniences are minor.
Have been staying here for 20 odd years. Good to get away from the hectic city life and a good weekend for golf heads like me
Great resort ! So much fun with great food and drinks
Nice villas that suit a few people in it at once. A good budget option for larger groups going to events in the Hunter valley
Really beautiful resort, great to take golfers there to enjoy the views and to be able to play a round of golf. It was really nice to stay there, they had pools, gym and a bar and bistro where you can enjoy some drinks and food. The place is located pretty central for the Hunter region. Very close to other restaurants and the Hunter Valley Gardens for some daytime markets. The accommodation is a bit pricey but that is what you get for staying at a golf resort.
I am in a wheelchair. The reception initially promised that a ramp would be provided for my easy access of the unit however that didnt happen. Despite the initial set back, my stay was made wonderful because of one staff called Mitch at the restaurant who took the initiative to help me grab my breakfast!
