From New London,CT to Orient Point New York. Easy ticket purchase online, flawless boarding with vehicle and seemless offload. Most notable was the cleanliness of the vessel and professionalism of the crew.
It was not pleasant when on board, crowded and dirty.
Ship shape! Perfectly ordered, easy experience. Book early, though there are hourly crossings. Easy to navigate the site make reservations, and do well ordered when you arrive. Nice stand with good offerings if you're hungry and makes for a great lunch as you cross the sound. Seamless experience, off and on. Great, professional crew. Makes a long journey very easy and relaxing.
We picked the lighthouse tour an it was such fun! Great ride, lots of lighthouses visited. If I could make on improvement it would be the sound system. Often could not hear the announcements on the top deck. More speakers placed in more locations.
More relaxing than I-95...but probably won't save you time, and definitely won't save you money.
Got us on and off the ferry very smoothly. The water was particularly placid so you almost couldn't feel any sway at all from the top decks. Seats were cushioned.
Makes going back and forth from new England to long Island easier, just not economical
Excellent service with pretty good schedules. Do yourself a favor and sign up for their free rewards membership, even if you're only taking one trip. They have certain times which are heavily discounted (up to 55% off) for members only when booked on their website. I booked the last ferry out for $30 then went standby on an earlier one. They were very accommodating and let me on once everyone else boarded. Would be nice if they refurbished the boat interior, though.
Honestly, kind of fun! Plenty of room to relax... food bar as well as a full bar! We had a reservation for the 8ish boat but they let us hop on the 7ish boat. Really great experience.
Why not sit relax...save time, tolls, fuel and stress...
A few years ago I was on a motorcycle ride along with 2 of my friends. We had just rode down from lake Champlain in the morning and then we had to wait for the next boat because they said we could not get on the open area of the back because someone else's bike got splashed with water and they were being sued. The lady said"you don't want your bike to fall off." I said I wouldn't want my car to fall off either. That guy is driving a Ferrari." My friend Tommy was pretty angry.

A little spendy for a family of four to just go across for the day but, it was an experience. First time on a ferry and we were not very impressed. The seats were every dirty and it seemed to not be well kept up in the cleanliness department. The crew in the snack bar area seemed nice but didn't want to really answer any questions about the area or the ferry it's self.
Easy in and out of New London with easy connections to the Shelter Island ferry. You can stay in your car on the smaller boats but not for the big boats. Pets are allowed in a special part of the big boat on leash or in a carrier.
Plenty of signage for social distancing. Area was clean and organized.
Smooth service. The parking people are pleasant peeps. Solid experience.
Reservationists suck. Made a reservation and missed the ferry by five minutes. Did not let me change reservations and kept my money. Scam artists. They were very cocky about it. Said "well yea we just get to keep your money"
Everything floats lol. Most of the boats are very nice and have ample outlets in each booth. Its pricey but it's very convenient so why not. Lightens my trip from home to school.
Worst customer service. Arrived 1:48pm after hitting traffic and getting caught behind Amtrak crossing. Boat wasn't loaded yet and we were told tough luck because we were 3 minutes late according to their 15 minute policy and had to get on the back of standby line and wait to POSSIBLY get on 3:30. Bridgeport Ferry makes way more of an effort to accommodate you in these types of situations and is why we will only take Bridgeport in the future.
Fastest way to Foxwoods. Love the seajet . They also have a rewards card .
Very heartless for what is supposedly a family run business. I usually arrive almost an hour early for this ferry as I have for the 20+ years I ve been riding it. This time however my 6 year old son gets car sick on the way to the boat, and after cleaning up we get there with 15 minutes to spare, only to find a line of cars waiting to check in. Once at the front of the line, we re told our spot, which we pre-paid for, was given to someone else because we arrived less than 15 minutes before departure. He explained it was 10 mins before departure, and I explained why were not here earlier; and they failed to see the logic that we ve been on line and actually were not late. Then I got this lecture that it is my fault that I m late and not their fault for giving away the spot I paid for. My 6 year old over hears this and now thinks it is HIS fault we are late (since his sickness caused the delay)...so now I have a crying kid on my hands and I m told I will have to go on standby and they are not sure what ferry I will get on because they are fully booked for the next 5 hours. With a sick son, the waiting would ve been brutal. I was given the choice of waiting or getting a refund. I chose the refund, and was told I will be charged a processing fee! No way these guys get to keep a dime of my money after doing that to me and my son. When I mentioned disputing it on my credit card, they told me I d be banned from ever taking the ferry again...lol like I would subject myself this experience ever again when I can take a faster and cheaper ferry service (Port Jeff Ferry).
Cross Sound Ferry: Don t bother commenting on the terms of your ticket (e.g. when to arrive). It doesn t change the fact that you are either ignorant, heartless (or both) and caused a 6 year old to feel guilty for getting sick.
Fun, easy on and off. If you are a senior, lugging a suitcase, remember the elevator!
Very punctual, and can save you a ton of time. Buy tickets in advance... they do sell out, and get there on the early side. The food is edible, and there's a bar, if you're not as stuck driving.

Had a good time on this trip. It was a lot more than we expected. The whole tour took about four hours and we saw a lot of light houses. He got pretty windy at times even on a hot day it was a bit cold with all the wind. But nonetheless this is a great tour and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to see the New England coast.

Can't give them five stars as our ferry broke and we had to take a later ferry, and the food service at New London was disorganized and they had to remake my order. The ferry trip itself was good and the ship clean.

The only way to go to New England from Long Island. I should have frequent floater miles for the amount of time I've going to Massachusetts. Always on time nice relaxing ride
Staff, crew and tour guide were outstanding. Boat was clean and had good personal space. Windows could have been more clean to provide better pictures. Last three point of interest, the boat failed to turn sufficient for views from the port side. Bummer.

Spend tens of thousands of dollars every year on the cross sound ferry and use the services 2-4 times a week. We use the standard booking procedure online and put the exact model, cab, bed length needed on our trucks. Today we were hassled by "Chris" on the New London side because one truck was 22' and the other was 21'. Again we book with the standard online system and never have been hassled. After a heated argument with "Chris" we measured our trucks ourselves. One was right at 20' and the other one was right under 21' with hitches removed. So basically you have liars measuring vehicles trying to force us to pay more and then kick us off the boat. Very unprofessional and frustrating on how much we spend on the CSF every year and then get hassled by a standard F350 being a few inches over 20'. Either fix your online booking system or train your one employe better on standard truck sizes and dealing with customers.
Awesome boat ride. We took truck and 26 foot trailer on board. Little expensive. But beat NYC traffic.

We came 2 hours earlier on Thanksgiving and were put to the next available boat. Very happy, made it right before the dinner with our family in LI. Thanks a lot guys. Generally the ferry is a great way to have some break from driving a long distance and avoid traffic.

Great way to relax while crossing the Sound. It breaks up a long drive plus one can stop at the wineries and/or vegetable stands.
My collie & I make this trip often. The crew members are friendly, kind & helpful. The ferries are clean and comfortable, the food is good, everyone makes your journey pleasant and easy. Thanks so much to you all for your hard work. You go the extra mile for your passengers and I appreciate it!
The ferry was ready for boarding within 5-10 minutes of the estimated time. Staff members were helpful with questions that I had, as it was my first time taking the ferry when I went. It was a calm day when I was crossing the Sound, making for a very stable ride. And docking took the exact amount of time they estimated. All-in-all, this was much more relaxing than driving around the Island and NYC.
