Why are the phone reservationists always the most impatient/angry people on the planet. Just listen please and I ll share with you what I need.

Great trip every time. Expect an 1 hour and 20 minute sailing trip but plan to arrive a half hour before your departure if you have reservations (highly suggested) and expect depending, on where you are parked on the boat, to wait up anywhere from 5 minutes to 15 minutes to drive off of the boat once it has docked. Pricey food but it's good for commuter transportation (especially their special hotdogs on potato rolls...yum!), full bar with limited drink selections but all the basics no grey goose but 3 other types of vodka so you can't complain. Tv's in the bar area which is where I suggest sitting since you get a view looking out of the front of the boat can order food and drinks at the bar and watch tv and it's never too crowded (unless it's a Friday night sailing trip). Rather take the ferry and enjoy these ammentities then be stuck in traffic driving around any day! Plus it's about the same exact time for your trip!

I like old rickety ferrys, they make me fall asleep and dream of broken technology.

We used the ferry for the first time over the summer upon leaving the casino traveling to Long Island, NY. No issues whatsoever. Clean, spacious and well worth the money to take a break from driving and relax. They have a diner, fully stocked bar and TV room. However, you can sit outside or even go to the top deck if you just want to sit and relax and enjoy the spectacular View

Called and checked on boat times. The staff member that answered the phone was very helpful.

We have family in SE CT; coming from Suffolk, NY, the trip by ferry saves a lot of driving. Upgraded lounges make it more comfortable, very clean and COVID-conscious. Only wish the coffee was better

I've been using the cross sound ferry for decades and even worked there for a few years in college. It's a very simple service to use but make sure to have a reservation during busier times as they are strict about arrival times and departure.

Big thanks to the Cross Island Ferry team for making my error (& what might have been an 8 hour drive home) nothing more than an easy, 1/2 hour wait in the sunshine. Last weekend I arrived at the Orient Point ferry departure lot so proud of myself for being early to the 2:30 ferry. Pulled out my phone to check in & learned that I had booked myself on the 1pm ferry. I had missed my boat! There were very few reservations left for the day and it seemed (to me) that there was little chance I'd get on a boat. Across the board (car-side check in, counter-person, ticket collector and boat/car expediter) everyone was friendly & confident they could get me onto a boat on standby. 'No need to panic, nor to start an 8 hour haul home'. To their credit, I was on the 3pm boat with little fanfare. I don't know how you did it but I can't thank you enough! I suspect this may happen often by how calmly they handled it but I very much appreciated their efforts.

Great, fast boarding and overall easy trip. Everyone managed to stay socially distant for the majority of the trip, and we were had reached our destination in no time!! A quick and simple way to get from the mainland out to the Hamptons. Strongly recommend.

Ferry staff where great and very a accommodating. What a great way to travel to Block Island!

The ferry was a bit on the small side but we crossed without a hitch & the crew members we very diligent loading & unloading the vehicles in a timely manner.

Great trip across sound,company had a trip on hold for me honored just recently coming back from Maine!

They're slow if you are trying to cross in a hurry. If you are interested in a boat ride that rakes a boring hour and a half, enjoy.

Highly unorganized. On a Saturday with a dozen cars or so it shouldn't be a big deal to get on a ferry, but no one there could figure out how their own system worked.

Prices are rather high for taking a vehicle on deck, but very reasonable for walk on passengers. They serve various foods in the ships. Most ships have a good variety, but some offer very little, but that's pretty rare to get on one of those small ships. And most ships have a bar, so you can order your favorite drink while cruising the seas. There's an indoor cabin, and an outdoor seating area on the upper deck, where most people are in the summer months. Overall, great travelling experience, but a little pricey for driving passengers.

Only way to get to the eastern end of Long Island from southern New England. Comfortable accommodations are pet friendly

Fun access across the sound. Not terribly pricey. Efficient.

Convenient for getting to Long Island and back without having to drive through the rest of the way through bridge traffic. Service is very consistent and I usually don't have issues reserving a ticket unless it's a busy holiday.

We ve used this ferry service couple of times. Booking is easy and if you become member at no cost, you will get ~ 50% discount for some pre-selected trips.

Arrived a little early and they put us on the earlier ferry. Ferry departure on time. It's a beautiful ride the whole way to Orient Point.

Very good - on time and smooth ride. We'll air conditioned and nice seats. Bit pricey though

Usually a comfortable ride if the weather allows. The staff are friendly and the ride seems shorter than it is. Not usually crowded above the car port, which is good if you're traveling with as a group.

Great way to spend a nice day. 2 hour cruise for $30 adult

Been taking this ferry for 40 years. It is a bit pricey.

I had a very rude encounter with a crew member who made me leave my car and wouldn't tell me why, only to go upstairs to stand bc there was no seating left due to social distancing. Not only that, they raised the prices. So 1 way was 100 dollars for me to take my vehicle (small car) and two passengers. Its outrageous. I think I'll be driving next time

Most times there is no issue with the ferry. However, last time I went to board and because there were issues with their boats they changed my tickets and booked my car on one boat and my people on another which made no sense to me. They just seemed to not know what was going on at all coming back into NY.

I am a big fan of CSF since it helps me avoid the Whitestone, Throgs Neck, etc. going north. This past Thursday we took the New London from Orient Point. We sat outside on the upper deck facing rear. We heard zero safety announcements. I wondered where the life jackets were stowed. Does the Coast Guard require announcements of any sort?

I hate driving around. It they only got wifi on the ferries it'd be perfect

Nice service to Orient Point Long Island. Charge per person rather than by the vehicle, so it can start to be pricey if you re vacationing with family. Sharp, timely service and amenities on board. Overall a good experience.

The service is solid and the boats are clean and comfortable.

Unbelievably rude and childish staff in port at New London, CT. Attendants are surly, vague and aggressive when you try to get information. Quick to get confrontational with a paying customer who has a question, and have no understanding of customer service, or maintaining a solicitous attitude.

Didn t have a reservation but the guys gave good directions on where to park and purchase ticket inside the office. We were lucky and we were the last vehicle on the boat !! We were parked in the stand by area for a few minutes until they told us to get on the ferry

Not much other choice for a ferry, but it has always been a pleasure with the cross sound.

Have been taking this ferry for 6 years to New England, and have never had an issue. Bar, kitchen & Staff are clean and respectable, and are sometimes international as well, which can make for a great conversation during the ride.

Dont get in the way of deck hands, and listen to what they say and tell you what to do when parking. they also have fun stories.

Have to reccomend to whoever is reading this to get the chicken fingers & honey mustard on the Susan anne, John H, Mary Ellen, & where ever else served.

Pizza and Deli sandwiches that are served on the Jennifer C are superb - Not served on other ferries either. I love the 'margaritaville pizza' myself.

My one reccomendation is for the boats to provide wifi to all passengers. it's becoming that time CSF. They do have it on some boats, but you do have to pay.

Convenient for summer travel when highways are busy. Presume your vehicle will get dinged on their ferries. Space is really tight. Also, if you're traveling with family or kids in car seats, good luck squeezing them them through the car doors as only Flat Stanley would be able to get out of the cars (particularly when on the second levels). Food has improved on the boats and the staff is usually helpful. Still waiting for the gas surcharges from a few years ago to be removed from their fares but I'm not holding my breath.

This is the best way onto Long Island from CT. 1.5 hour ride that has lots to look at and a wide variety of food, snacks and a bar if your on a road trip.
I have been using this service since 2005 and have never been disappointed. All of the staff from the ticket office to the boat crew are friendly and helpful.

Parking is confusing. You'll want to park at the big garage in front of the train tracks. Then you'll walk to the right of the train station so you can then cross the tracks. The boat ride itself is fine. Borrow the headphones so you can hear the narration.

Fast, efficient and friendly staff. They scan you in, get you on line, and on board as quickly as possible. Not a regular on the ferry, but the few times I've used it, it has always been a good experience.

Much better than driving in towards the city & crossing a bridge. If you are starting north or east of Bridgeport, CT & going to Suffolk County or even Nassau County it is by far the best way to go.

The Ferry out of Orient is great. It's a good ride, weather-pending. They have an okay grill, places to sit inside and out. In good weather it's a wonderful ride. It can be a little bumpy in bad weather, but they'll cancel if it's unsafe.

On time. Make and change reservations directly from web. Print bar coded receipt at home and stop in-car at entrance to ferry lot for actual ticket. EZ. Discounts up to 55% on various time slots. On board deli counters. When traveling from MA or NH or ME to Long Island, take this hour and a half ride rather than the rat race through the NYC end of the island. You'll be glad you did.
