Who ever said that cars are not also amphibious was wrong. Obviously if you put them on a boat they will even cross oceans! Been using the ferry twice a year for more than 10 years. They have always kept my car dry and above the waterline.
Kind of expensive. A little slow, but it beats driving!

The ferry across from LI to CT not only shortens our trip but make it so relaxing. Disappointing the clam chowder wasn't available but we are in an unusual year. Other foods are still on the menu.

The ride is wonderful! But why charge $16 for priority when the cars are parked so close together that it's almost impossible to get out without hitting the car next to you? That's a rip off!!. Definitely not worth it!

Had my first Ferry Ride. I was more than a little nervous. It turned out to be a great experience. The people who load/unload the Ferry seem to really know what they are doing. Getting on and parked was simple. Once on board I got some coffee and explored the ship. It was not crowded at all. I spent most of the time on the bow or the stern just looking out over the water. I met some very friendly people who answered my questions about the disembarking procedures. All in all, it was a great way to travel!

Just drove 4 hrs to be told the ferries are not running due to 5 mph wind. Complete waste of time. No phone call no nothing. Last time we use these idiots.

Great service but they are always on time when I take them they offer comfortable seats it is also a very Scenic ride you do get to see if the submarines that are being built across the bay when you leave New London as well as some very cool lighthouses when you leave New London and approaching Orient Point. They offer food on board as well as TV and there is WiFi it's a great way to get to Long Island from New London Connecticut as the ride is just one hour and 20 minutes
Always love the ride on this ferry service from New London to Orient Point. Nice staff, normally on time, have not had one issue yet.

The captain made the trip smooth and fast but yet took his time so we could get pictures of the lighthouses,cant wait to go again

The staff at the terminals on either side of the sound and on board are always cheerful, efficient and on top of their game! We have family on Long Island and live in Boston and rely on the ferry frequently. Highly recommended mode of transportation!

Very simply it is the best way to get from eastern Long Island to Connecticut. All the whiners complaining that the boats aren't clean enough or that they should serve wine and oysters should try swimming this stretch sometime.
Best Bloody Mary off the island! But everything else, like managing the stand by line, etc. is outstanding, too. Certainly superior to the other ferry line servicing Long Island.

Took the cruise on Saturday 8/10/2019! It was awesome! Beautiful sunny day! 320 people on board but it has plenty of room on the vessel! Enjoyed moving around from top to bottom. Great tour, very informative of everywhere we went! Our guide was Steve letting us know the history of the lighthouses and so much more! Can't beat the price! Highly recommend this cruise! Thanks to Cross Sound Ferry and all employees that we came in contact with! Take it...you won't be disappointed!

Seems like a lot of people have low expectations for their $60 ferry ride. Best I can say is that it's a functional ferry ride for you and your car.
I don't really have any other experience to compare this to. I'm taking 1 star off for the cleanliness (or lack thereof). The seats inside the passenger area were disgusting and long past needing to be replaced. It was also a tad disappointing, as a tourist, that the windows were so dirty you could barley see out them.
The cost was a bit steeper than I expected too, at $60 for the car and one person plus additional cost for each of us (total of 1 vehicle, 2 adults, and 2 children for just under $90).
We enjoyed the ferry ride regardless. It was a great way to save on some drive time for us.
Great way to travel between RI/ CT and LI! I have been taking this ferry for years and it's always been a good experience. A nice break from driving as well. Also the 7 and 8 pm boats during the summer time get you the most beautiful sunsets! These pics are from the Orient Point Side!
A smooth and pleasant ride every time. Food is served, the bathroom is clean, and the seats are plentiful (some even have power outlets for your laptop or other devices). It sure beats driving around and dealing with city traffic! What more could you ask?
I have used them for many years. As hard as I try I cannot think of a single complaint. It may be cheaper to drive around and take the bridges, but you get to skip all the traffic and relax, maybe have a beer or two. The view is hard to beat, and the kids will love the lighthouses in the Sound and submarines on the Thames. If you can afford to, give yourself and your car a break and take the ferry.
This is a killer way to get from MA/CT to the Hampton's. The ride is smooth, you have your car, there is plenty of seating, the food and bar options are better than expected and the sights and sounds are an added experience. Take this to the Hampton's without any hesitation and save yourself lots of aggravation, especially in the summer.

Put our vehicle which has a handicapped placard prominently displayed in the front window on an upper ramp with no access to the handicapped elevator. I had to take his wheelchair down to the lower deck, and then take him down a steep flight of stairs to get him on the elevator to the passenger lounge.
When we arrived at Orient Point, I went through four different crew members before I found one willing to let me wheel his chair to the exit ramp, and allow me to bring my vehicle around so I could load him into the vehicle.
Painless crossing from Orient Point to New London with a car. Made reservations online which was easy. But crew and staff were some of the surliest I've come across in awhile
The best stress reliever going. Look at the tariff as an investment in your mental health and sanity (as driving through the Bronx and southern Connecticut must certainly shorten life expectancy).
Extremely friendly staff onshore and onboard. Great food, with (naturally) a greater selection available on the larger vessels.
Missed boat. Arrived 30 mins early. Chaos with the red light, construction, no directions, no parking and frantic people stopping traffic left and right! NEW Update: i have increased my orig stars as this company has refunded most of my return trip and management offered a nice apology. I will give them another try as soon as there is time.

Always an enjoyable ride... particularly nice in the summer when you can sit out on the deck. Some boats are nicer - if you enjoy it for what it is the trip between points is lovely.
Makes going to CT and New England easy. In just 75 minutes you are there and have the opportunity to relax on the boat.

Ferry staff are wonderful and very helpful Reservation were fast and very Informative . The Ship's were very clean and fast they are it really is a Beauty to be able to get to see how beautiful it is to be on a ship an feel at ease from all the craziness that you just left behind and for that 90 minutes you say to yourself that was AWESOME !
If I could leave a review less than one star I would. We pulled into the lot for the cruise at 10:30 and we re told that we could not park there, despite no signs being posted saying such. We were told to park in the garage across the street and walk over. When we got to the garage, there were no spots left. Until we found a spot, we had five minutes to get to the cruise. We ran over and we got there with a minute to spare. However, we were told that the cruise had just left (before the stated time for it to leave). The woman who told us to park elsewhere knew that we were coming and did not care enough to tell them to hold the boat for us to walk there. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
