This is the worst hotel in London, even with its good location doesn't make up any of its shortcomings: smell, smelly room, broken tv, most a/c's don't work or extremely loud. I had one of most uncomfortable bed. I tried to get help from the staff, never get much assistance. I can go on but then most people won't believe me. Stay away from this hotel.

The hotel was a quick easy way around the corner from High Street Kensington station which was convenient. The entrance was lovely and very grand, and the hotel staff were friendly and helpful.

The room was really nice, good tea and coffee facilities and even a fridge under the tv which was cool. The bathroom was good and it had a great shower; we didn't try the bath. The bed was comfy and the quilt super soft and fluffy!

It was also great to have blackout curtains and a simple air con/heating system with adjustable fan strength and temperature. We were really comfortable in the room, no issues.

The breakfast was really nice and there was a great selection of cooked and continental options available. The toasting machine was a bit too hot and my toast was fairly chargrilled but I'm sure I could have had another piece done if I had asked. We didn't have any other meals in the hotel.

We also were able to store our luggage at the hotel after checking our while we spent the day in London, and we collected it again around 5pm.

I would be very happy to stay there again, however I can't comment on the price or value for money as the visit was a gift.

Friendly welcoming staff. staying on 11th floor Club Room, so with a nice open view. Comfortable bed. Windows that open a crack for fresh air. facilities are clean and generously sized for London and gracefully aged, with historical character. not at all cramped like most establishments in London.

The hotel is nice. Good toilet facilities. Went for afternoon tea. Found the sandwiches were quite dry. Otherwise, enough tea refills and the mini desserts were nice. The waiter was attentive enough. Based on the sandwiches, I wouldn't choose to have afternoon tea here again.

U.S. traveler - While the rooms weren't super renovated, the area felt safe and the bed was comfortable. They had usb outlets so I did not need my power adapters. It was close enough to all the popular areas to get there easily by tube, but far enough to not have to deal with insane amounts of people. Great location. Rooms moderate. Reasonably priced. I would stay there again.

The place is great for the price, you can go everywhere pretty fast. However, what the cleanliness in the bathroom or otherwise in the room you can still argue. The air conditioning is quite loud, for people who are sensitive to noises at night, you have to turn off safely. Only in terms of noise, my neighbors are not so quiet, the walls are quite thin, even our door was cut so diagonally that they have a gap of over 5mm at the bottom and that looked quite funny. Janu are the details, but would still come here a second time :)

As others have suggested thus hotel is tired. Rooms were I'm sure once nice but are now in need of a refit. Air con barely works, shower room smells of damp and there's mould growing above the window.. Bar prices vastly overpriced. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Great location but hotel is just okay. 3 star at best. It's overcrowded on weekends. Beds are small if you are two. Rooms and washrooms are old. Staff tries to be good but mostly they can't answer much outside the box. Other Millennium properties are better (but more expensive as well)

Twice the staff tried opening our door without knocking ! And the second time at 8 am ! Very frustrating.. Privacy and personal space not a big thing at Copthorne Tara Hotel . Disappointing

This hotel is just a short walk to High Street Kensington, which features ample shopping and restaurants. There is also a tube station, which can get you anywhere else in the city. The room was clean, with a fridge and a kettle for making coffee. The staff is very friendly and helpful, there is even a door man who will hail a cab if need be. My room faced the train tracks but there are double windows and I did not even notice after the first night. It is not far to walk to Kensington Palace, Hyde Park, Royal Albert Hall, The Victoria and Albert Museum, or Harrods.

It is true the location is decent, while rooms are small the are pleasant. However, on there were issues with terrible noise in the pipes. HORRIBLE connection to the internet, difficulty in getting connected and consistently dropped. Do not attempt to buy water, soda late as no vending machines or location permits you to do so in the entire hotel. And the breakfasts never change, after 4 days it easy to tire of their offerings.

Howerver, the staff is absolutely wonderful, very willing to assist; front desk, waitresses, etc. the breakfast buffet has wonderful coffee.

We have just stayed at this hotel. It's really the best. Near the subway. The rooms are very good. Most: mobile phone 4 g made available during your stay. Hyper practice to find your way around London. Really extra breakfast.

The bathroom was dirty. A hair and dirt was behind the door and despite telling staff it was never cleaned properly for our three day stay. Room was very tired and bed not comfortable. Its only redeeming feature was location. Definitely not 4 star

Well connected, with a metro stop nearby and several buses, to put some fault, that at reception they do not speak Spanish and there are quite a few guests who speak it. And the breakfast that there is no cocoa powder, colacao type for the kids.

Relaxing stay, comfortable and clean rooms. Kind and helpful security staff but overall was let down by general customer service. Reception staff were rude and unhelpful- too keen to hard sell an upgrade to answer any questions. Day of checkout also spoilt by random calls to the room phone at 8am and domestic staff coming to clean the room at 9am despite us explaining we would check out at 11am (an hour earlier than recommended). Would recommend for a one night stay if you were going to be out all day.

We stayed for one night as we had tickets for Spirit of Christmas at London Olympia.
I requested a quite room at booking we were on the fifth floor. There was a dull humming sound throughout the night sounded like a generator and I could hear the guest TV word for word, this went on until past midnight that I was aware of.
I called Housekeeping to request two extra pillow, I called three times. On the second call to enquire about them the female staff member verbally interrupted my enquiry by saying "there on the way" it took one and half hours before we received them.
The bed was comfortable. Unfortunately, the room is tired and dated with stains on the writing desk, hairs on the bathroom floor and wear and tear on the bathroom mirror.
Breakfast at 8 a.m. was busy and noisy however, we were seated quickly and there was a good selection of items and our tea/coffee was served quickly and a top up offered.
On check out I informed reception of Housekeeping very slow service they apologised and informed me a group were in. As a guest this is of no concern to me, Housekeeping would have been aware of occupancy levels and should have ensured adequate staffing.
Very disappointing for a four star hotel I would not stay again or recommend it.

The hotel itself was lovely, I had a great room, very clean, and staff at reception were friendly. One star though because the bar staff there were really rude and leery, I ended up taking my drink to my room because I felt uncomfortable sat near the two men on the bar at the time.

Relatively easy to get to as it is just behind the tube station of high Street Kensington in London. Prices are relatively high for the quality of the accommodation but it's nice and clean. Restaurant is bit of a mess and looks like a pub environment people just sitting and chatting, poor vegetarian choice and expensive. Hotel staff are polite.

Check-in very busy but efficiently coordinated. Was in room 580, got woken up at 05h45 by 582 talking very loudly then at 08h15 by cleaning staff also talking loudly in room just above. All these people talking loud without respecting other's rest.

Rooms are not really clean and are decorated in an old style. The towels in my room were dirty with holes, the carpet felt dusty. The place has a problem with the elevators, two out of five facts and supposed to serve all the guests. We waited for the elevator sometimes for ten minutes until one arrived. A serious improvement is needed.

The hotel is conveniently located in a quiet cul-de-sac, 5 minutes walk from Kensington High Street tube. Inside there are various restaurant options including a pub with international food and good beer, an Asian and smaller cafes. I had a curry and a beer in the pub, that was average. The buffet breakfast is good, for GBP 13.75 (when not included in the room rate).

The hotel is kept clean, the service is good and staff were friendly in all interactions. I was positively surprised by a digital innovation, found as I came in the room: the hotel lends you a quality mobile phone with a good battery life. It is free to use during the guest's stay. If you lose it you have to pay GBP 170. The Handy can be taken around London, you can browse the internet, use Google Maps, make local and international phone calls for free. It is configured so you can easily find interesting information about things happening in London, museums, walks, shops and restaurants for example.

I got the cheapest room with a double bed, I won't comment about the other higher-standard room types which were offered for 60GBP upgrade including some deal for drink or food, which I did not want at check-in. My room was clean but I noticed a mold-like smell everytime I came in the room, but after 6 minutes the nose started to get over the impact and started somehow to get used to it. The heating worked well when required. The shower was ok and the water abundant, but if the water flows too fast this creates a vacuum effect which pulls the curtain towards you so it sticks to you when standing up. The bedsheets, duvet cover and pillow covers were white clean. One of the mattrasses was ok but the other seemed to have a slightly lower height in the head than in the foot. The pillows were firm and adequate.

The sliding window must not be opened for safety reasons, and despite being shut it produced a wistling sound due to the wind passing between the fixed and sliding part. The reception sent an engineer to check the window up when I went out but I suppose nothing could be done as the sound was heard afterwards. It was not a noise and temperature isolated double-glazed window, but a single sheet of glass on an aluminium frame, a standard that seems prevalent in many London hotels and let some of the buzz outside reach inside the room. Despite that, there was no need to have the heating turned-on, outside the temperature was 8 Celsius. The black-out curtain was kept shut during the night to stop the light and cold coming in.

Therefore all things considered it gets a 4 star for the relative positive experience and service received.

Recently stayed there for 8 nights (late May 2013)...

Recently stayed there for 8 nights (late May 2013) with two others in a studio suite, meaning, we had two rooms, one with a double bed + full bathroom and the second connecting room with two twin beds and a tiny powder room. This suite, while well-laid out, was quite rundown and looked out onto a service area and a brick wall, so we requested to be moved to one of the refurbished rooms. Our request was granted but was not possible for the first night of our stay, so the next night (and the following 6 nights) we stayed on the Club floor in a fully renovated executive studio suite. This was very nice but the second connected room did not have a second bathroom and it was furnished with a cot and a pull-out sofa-bed -- neither were all that comfortable to sleep on (we needed three separate beds). Still, the suite was very well appointed, nice view to the west, quiet, and we enjoyed the complimentary Club Lounge for breakfast each morning and drinks from 6:30pm - 8:00pm each evening. We ate in two of the hotel's 4 restaurants and both were very good. All staff members were helpful and considerate. The hotel is well-situated just steps from the Kensington High Street tube station, and I do mean, steps! I have stayed here several times before in the "regular" rooms (i.e., those located on all floors except 11 and 12), and as other reviewers have noted, these rooms need to be renovated and upgraded in order for this hotel to be considered a 4-star.

Location, location , location. The rooms are a bit dated, but clean. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Kensington Palace and its awesome tour including Princess Diana's dresses is just round the corner. The hotel's restaurant has tasty food and authentic fish n chips. A good place to stay in a central location.

Our tour group stayed at this hotel for three nights as the first stop of our European tour. It was among the nicer hotels that we stayed at during our trip. The room was comfortable and well maintained. Within walking distance of several area attractions and shopping. Breakfast was decent, but not great, and the elevators did not appear to be very well programmed as a full elevator would stop at every floor with no room for those waiting to board. It made it a bit of a pain trying to get everyone down to the ground to load up each day. But, that was really the only knock against this hotel and it was amplified a bit by one of the elevators being out of service during out stay.

My experience of this hotel, which I visit about 3 times a year, is that I have always found it to be clean and the staff to be welcoming and helpful. I left some valuable property in my room following my last visit in December 2018 and the "Lost Property " man could not have been more caring and helpful. Within 3 days, my property was returned to me. This is good service.

Thankfully I didn't have to pay normal prices, but because of pandemic - reduced room price. A that what this"4" star hotel is worth and what you get.
I have a full understanding for covid19 situation, but many other hotels in same category, managed to keep their high level of service, in these difficult times.
Notice that there's no housekeeping, maybe, every third day.
Besides that:

WiFi speed worse than in small villages
low hot water pressure in showers
old-fashioned air-conditioning, taking hours to cool down the room

Bed comfortable, reception staff - kind, helpful but still chaotic. Ordering breakfast never arrived on time, arranged housekeeping forgotten!
Got served a dirty spoon - can happen everywhere,, but they need to go over the routine for drying maybe...

OTHERWISE all covid19 spreading precautions WELL-ORGANIZED and adapted throughout the whole hotel.

The rooms were decent enough, it's English style. Surprised at how little service friendly the staff was. In the restaurant / bar small staff, clearly stressed, and the talk of staff took place in full public. The food was so so. A lot of food was brought out again in the kitchen. Don't think this is a hotel I would recommend or stay at yourself.

Pros: Great location - close to the tube and all the shops and restaurants on the high street. PgTips in the tea caddy is a plus.
Rooms are adequate.
Cons: Key card did not work for 2 days of my 3 day stay.WiFi password didn't work...another trip to the front desk!

The location of the hotel is very close to the Tube station or the train station. There are several service staff in the lobby who can provide any assistance. You can leave your luggage for free. There are three different restaurants to choose different types of food. There is also a small convenience store. The price is OK. It will not be much more expensive than the outside. The room is spacious and there is also air conditioning. The only pity is that the view is not very good.

Had my Year 13 prom here in June, and it was lovely! The Area was quite small though for the price that we hired it for. The suite had a bar, which was ridiculously expensive for 17/18 year olds! I understand that it is a classy hotel and what not, but they could have perhaps tailored the bar for who they were catering for, maybe use cheaper alcohol? Overly the night was lovely!

Stayed here in May as part of a garden tour. Rooms are past "tired". Staff was always border line rude. Concierge was not helpful. Everything was vastly overpriced. Breakfast was like a feedlot, get people in and get them out. Not pleasant.
Definitely not four stars!

It is near the station. Correspondence of the front desk was kind. The room is also beautiful. However, I was bored when the breakfast buffet had only the same menu every morning and continued overnight.
