I have been a patient off and on for the past 20+ years, and I can honestly say like many institutions like this, I've had good experiences and bad ones too.
The emergency room intake is rather slow at times (have ID, and insurance cards with you ), but people are accessed by the triage department rather quickly. Once inside it may take a little while before you see the ER Doctor on duty, meanwhile the staff tries to make you feel as comfortable as they can. If you don't have a cellular phone with you, they will allow you to call outside, there is usually a TV with a remote you can watch while waiting. Space is limited in the room, enough for you and another adult. Tests/X-Rays and so on are done and read. You will then be released ( Takes a little time ) or you are admitted but have to wait for a bed to open up. By this time you are tired, in pain, cranky and frustrated, you have been there for 8 to 10 hours. Most of the time the ER team members are ocomidating.
A bed at last. Rooms are clean and so is the bathrooms. Some bathrooms have private showers in them. Beds are air controlled to prevent bed sores and numbness, small flat screen TV for each patient, telephone, closet, power for chargers and laptops, FREE WI-FI (ask your nurse for code ) ( I always carry an extention cord and flashlight in my overnight bag or have someone bring me one ).
Food OK. Coffee shop in main lobby that serves hot food and a kiosk in the ER waiting room. Not sure about cafeteria.
Very nice gift shop in lobby. Unique gifts, magazines, flowers and candy.
I have had several major surgeries here and have had no complication what so ever.
