Passed by this store while I was actually on the way to another bike store. Thought "why not?" and ended up leaving with one of the most beautiful bikes I've ever seen. I was curious about how gears on a bike worked and was happily educated by David; this guy could teach a class on bikes.. Here they allow you to test-ride the bicycles outside if you have ID and they undergo a thorough safety beforehand, allowing you to get a feel for the bike before you decide to purchase it. One of the coolest bike stores I've ever been to.

Warning: staff will correct your usage of gender specific pronouns in describing bicycles. I have no problem using they/them pronouns for individuals that request it, your identity is yours and who am I to fight you about your identity. But on the same token, who is someone else to correct a pronoun I use for a hunk of steel that I own. But that is exactly what I just experienced, and I feel that the public should be warned. I probably will shop here again, but I did not like my experience today. Hopefully it was just an overzealous employee and not representative of management direction.

We came in to have our 12-yr old talk with someone about the brakes on her bike that she adjusted on her own and wanted to ensure they were not going to going out again. Things quickly rolled into a $60 bill for looking the bike over and adjusting the brakes- we said no thank you. Took the bike to North Portland Bike Works on Mississippi and the tech took the time to load the bike on the bike hand and talk things out with our daughter- even quizzed her on what parts do, and technical names of bike parts, it was exactly the support and leadership in bike maintenance we were seeking, and did not cost us more than a thank you and continued business.

Extremely helpful staff, great prices. Amazing selection of used parts and loaner tools. Got me back up and running after a bike theft for much less than I expected to spend. I can't recommend this place enough.

I stop by this bike about once every couple of weeks. Staff is helpful without being annoying. Good selection of used and new bikes. I do believe the used bikes are a little overpriced, but again this is Portland. They do lend tools which is a bonus.

While I was drawn to the community support and teaching aspect of CCC, the customer service is beyond poor and sometimes rude AF, they almost sold my bike while it was supposedly being repaired due to their poor internal communication skills, and the bike repair itself was shotty at best. I now have to take it to another shop and spend even more money to repair the repairs that CCC did cuz no way I m going thru that again. Save your money and time and take it to pros.

Great used gear and they repair inexpensively. Don't come here if you're in a hurry, the same guy working on your bike is also running cash register, and answering questions. Ideal if you live in the area, otherwise get ready to wait anywhere from 1-4 hrs.

Rude staff. I donated a bike in good shape along with some extra bike parts. They never looked at any of it, just whisked it away to the back, after which I was asked to pay $5 to process the donation, which I did. No one offered a thank you , not the guy who took the bike or the guy who processed the donation.. Though I think the community bike shop is a good idea, I am not inclined to return or advise others to shop or donate there.

most of the people who work here are nice, and it's cool they have used gear and you can borrow tools. They need a system (pull a number like at the DMV or make a line or something) so that you don't awkwardly stand around for 20 minutes trying to hook in a busy employee's eye contact as they divert their attention away from you in order to get some type of acknowledgement that they see you and will be with you soon.

The staff were knowledgeable and patient, adjusted seats and let me try out various used bikes on nearby streets and take my time deciding. Helped me select the right style used rack. I needed a small cruiser bike that would let me sit upright and put both feet on the ground when stopped. They had a good selection. Very happy with the bike I chose, and ended up donating a vintage bike I never used. Win/win for all. I'll be back.

The folks there were very helpful and gave solid advice. We were there looking to pick up a couple of used bikes for kids. They never tried to upsell us brand new bicycles or more bicyle than the kids could handle.

When I came in the staff was not that helpful and eager to help me find an used bike. When I asked if I could test 3 of them they came up with an excuse that testing ends at 6.30 pm which actually might be true but the way the rendered the message was not the nicest. It did look like they had a lot of nice bikes. However, customer service leaves much to be desired.

Terrific place for some things. Great that they donate bikes to poor kids and that they host cycling safety classes and have open shop times. Unfortunately pricing on the ised bikes is horrendous.

This organization is not trying to be the jaguar dealer of bikes and service, nor does it sock your wallet like one. Having said that, for the most part their people are courteous and helpful, conscious of the customer's budget, and professional in their knowledge, service and advice. I would recommend them to anyone who needs what they offer and appreciates their not adding on services we can do just to inflate their revenue. I would add that in the big picture, they provide this community service to an incredible number of bikers from casual to serious in a typical week's time. Thanks!

The staff is friendly and helpful. They always offer to show you how to fix what is wrong on your bike. Had honest feedback on parts and prices and what I really needed and didn't need. Favorite bike shop in town.

Great place! Came here looking for a certain brand of an older stem. Didn't see it but they had a nice selection so I was going to pick one out anyway. Dude came over and mentioned they had more in the back and asked what I was looking for. He came out with 5-6 examples and I found exactly what I wanted for less than I could have gotten it online. Will definitely be back.

Visited to buy a front/back bike light combo and wanted some recommendations from staff on their different options. A group of employees were chatting behind the counter and I had to track someone down to help me. They told me all were good, did not invest in engaging with me or answering my questions, and seemed disinterested in general to provide customer service. When I d made my decision, I had to track someone down to check out, and beyond what was necessary, the clerk did not engage with me. Very poor customer service and I have ultimately been dissatisfied with the product I was advised to purchase.

Excellent service with a real dedication to the community in terms of giving back and helping out. They have low income programs to help everyone get a bike to get around. Want to build a bike from scratch? You can do that here. Want a nice bike for not a lot of money? Their used bike selection is constantly rotating and quite diverse. The staff is really helpful, too. Love this place!

Super long wait time. One couple was building a complete bike and had one of the two people helping the line going up the side of the building to the back. Plan on waiting if you are going there. Patience and water, maybe a snack, is essential for a decent experience. It took us 40mins of waiting for one item.

I love our community cycling center!

Walked in with 10 minutes to go needing weirdly sized brake calipers, the guy helping me at the counter stuck with me, passing me options until we found the pair that worked. Great time, great shop!

No one seemed interested in helping me. The staff was somewhat stand offish and were not particularly helpful. I needed a bike part fixed, they gave me an estimate then said it would be two weeks before they would have time to do the repair. I just bought the part and got another shop to do it that day. Additionally, the way they sell used bikes with the price of how much it costs to fix it seems odd. I witnessed a dad trying to buy a kids bike and wanted to tell him he could get a new one for the same price.

Selection is fine, but customer service is trash. My experience over the phone was asking two or three simple questions about the shop, was spoken to like a greenhorn and then having the phone hung up on me before I even said good bye. Just felt like these guys aren t here to help, just look down their noses at you. Opposite of my experiences at community shops in Seattle and Bellingham.

Such a good experience here today, and every time I ve been in. I was having a bike issue that no other shop would agree to help with because of the risk issue, but these folks let me right in and were able to fix the issue in 2 minutes. These folks are trustworthy with your bike, lots of used (and new) gear and accessories. Check this place out! Such a nice feeling in this shop! Great service!!!!

So many employees, yet getting any of of them to help you out was a real challenge. Like, stood at the register for almost 5mins, holding onto a bike, before anyone even acknowledged us. If it hadn't been such a good price on a used bike that my son so desperately needed, I would have walked away without purchasing anything.

Super helpful! Went in today needing to replace a wheel. The guy at the desk took the time to find what I needed in back and even swapped the rotor and tape over from my old broken rim. Ended up also being very affordable. Thanks so much!

Everyone is extremely nice. Great people to work with. They just hired a new retail girl so if she makes mistakes just cut her some slack she'll learn soon enough. Things are reasonably priced and if you have low income it's not a problem, you can get a discount!!

My bike was stolen recently and my 13 yr old daughter suprised me with a bianchi bless her heart but it needed some better parts. I found this place and not only were they super helpful but they didnt make me feel embarrassed for being to poor to buy new stuff. There store is so full of good things that are used and really cheap for named brand stuff. Plus on top of the great help and prices they also gave me a cummuter discount due to my finances...they seem to help alotta people and thats what matters to me. that and they and they seem to really care. Just when i thought i wouldnt find nice people and customer service in portland these guys and gals gave me hope. 10 stars all day.

I Liked the selection of parts and tools however, my experience was not so great. The first person I talked to was nice but the second short hair girl made me feel like I was dumb or something. Saying I wouldn't be able to recognize a certain part I was looking for even after I politely asked if I could see them, she still said I wouldn't after her so many years of doing this. I only wanted this one thing and I wasted my time going here and they lost my business.

They said they would fix my rims after I asked them if I should just buy new ones .they said they could do that and fix the brakes for 135$ so I left it with them overnight and well into the next afternoon. I got my bike back and the rims were good for maybe a day of riding before I noticed they weren't fixed correctly. Bunch of scammers at this place don't go there if you're getting something fixed. They'll rip you off.

As good as it gets. Staff here is amazing. Extremely friendly and even more helpful. Completely honest and transparent with what needs to be done and what the options are, always willing to help in anyway they can and don't over charge for things many other places do. Highly recommend giving them your business and know you will be rewarded with amazing service and benefits.

This is a perfect example of why people love local businesses. So glad to have them near by.

What's the value of going the extra mile?

What's the value of going the extra mile?

When I take my bike to CCC on Alberta, the customer service has varied from competent and efficient, to condescending.

I've never received my bike back from their shop without one new problem popping up, that wasn't there before, for every two that they fix. For instance, if my chain gets replaced, the wheel comes back untrue.

It's hard to get same day service; usually they require an evaluation appointment, and a separate appointment to leave your bike to be fixed (most usually over a day or two.)

Also, unlike other bike shops, they do not take the time to lube, pump or clean... Any of the extra details that make your bike seemingly ride like new when you get it back.

On one hand, they are certainly competent and professional. On the other hand, they don't seem to have the motivation to go that extra step that would ensure me as a loyal customer.

If I have an emergency repair in the neighborhood, I'd trust them. But if my bike can ride, I'll take it somewhere else.

I brought a walker belonging to my 91 year old elderly friend in for some brake cable service. The maintenance was completed promptly with some additional bearing work required. The cost of repair approached the value of the walker, which was fine. But when I asked How about a little break for an elderly Dutch woman who went through the German bombing of Rotterdam , they looked at me like I was crazy. You would think that a non-profit serving the community would be more considerate of our old folks . I have donated several bikes to the organization over the years and my son has performed volunteer work there. Just want to share my bad experience.

Knowledgable staff that is both helpful and informative. They will not try to talk you into unnecessary service here! Plus just a great institution that benefits the local community and those in need. Also a stand and some tools are available for you to work on your own bike!
