Faint smell of urine in carpet of our room, missing utensils in room that took over 30 minutes to get, cost did not match the quality of the experience. good location and historic, but seems to have lost a lot of its luster
Beautiful historic hotel! Rooms and service were exceptional!
Nice hotel
Nice atmosphere and it is very Victorian and the style
After four calls for reservations for a large party for Christmas tea, I finally got a very nice call back....We'll see if they provide four tables for four beside each other, so that the children can be properly supervised.....
Beautiful hotel. Nice location. Had some issues. When we arrived previous guest had smoked in room and it was nasty. Staff did their best to ameliorate with Febreeze, and moved us to another room the following night. So that's about all that can be expected but still unpleasant. But what really drives down my stars was an issue with the toilet. It was running, and I asked three days in a row for it to be fixed with no action. All that was needed was a new flapper valve. Disappointing.
Good experience, great for kids during the holiday.
Attended a company event in the evening...historical building. Tonga room is special.
The clock of this city has stopped in part of the town.
Waited 30 minutes for drinks and then left without even being served water.
We visited the Fairmont for the gingerbread house. It was amazing. When you walk in the mansion, you immediately smell Grandma's kitchen filled with all the baked wonder of gingerbread. Their attention to detail shows and I still wouldn't be surprised if I missed an Easter egg.
I first got acquainted with this amazing place when I was in high school. My senior prom was here! So I have seen this place as a venue for an event and as a hotel. This place is classy! So much history. To me this represents old San Francisco. My last visit here was during the holidays to see the ginger bread house. Amazing! I have never seen an actual full sized ginger bread house. I took it all in. I have a thing for old elegance and this place fits the bill. To me if you visit San Francisco this place is a must see. Also the Fairmont is centrally locates between downtown and Chinatown. Go! Now!
Top notch hotel. Good location, lots of history, excellent service.
We love staying at The Fairmont San Francisco. The hotel is beautiful and the service is outstanding.
All the fancy people stay here: Presidents, Anthony Bourdain, Casey Neistat.
Tonga room was limited seating. Service was ok. The room it self was fun to see. Lacked live entertainment till late
Beautiful hotel but crazy crowded during Christmas time
We upgraded to a king with a beautiful garden view and some city view. The room was slightly bigger than a typical king. Service was great. Staff was friendly. Shared an elevator with Gordon Ramsay! Tonga Room was delicious and lively! Only thing is the sofa in the room had some stains and hair. Everything else was perfect!
The hotel is so beautiful and classical I recommend it in San Francisco
Great history and stunning decor. Unfortunately, the staff is worthless.
One of my all time favorite San Francisco hotels. It is classic in every sense of the word. The rooms are well maintained and the staff well trained and professional.
The Christmas decor was wonderful, and the Tonga Room was kitschy and fun! The bowl drinks were only so-so. Strong, but not great tasting.
I visited the Tonga bar within the Fairmont for some drinks. The place was really nice and unique with a Pacific island theme and the center of the room having a pool filled with water and a boat where the band performed. The drinks were a bit pricey but the whole experience was fun and worth it.
Beautiful location with friendly staff. Close to everything in the city. Great amenities including patio garden area. Quiet but still close to fun parts of thr city.
Always eloquent and classic design. There's a feel of prestige and history in every hall. Fantastic customer service and a landmark to visit.
A pricey hotel that somehow nickels and dimes you for every single thing. No free wifi, parking... Breakfast was $80 for a continental buffet. The place is super nice. I was there for a wedding and it was a great venue, but i wouldn't stay here again.
The place is upscale and they have a great bar downstairs! Live music and great decorations.
Everything from reception to room luxury. Room service is also good. I am more satisfied with Early Bird discount.
I've been going to this hotel since I was a child. Walking in the beautiful elegant Lobby, dancing and drinking at the tiki room and dining at the nice restaurant in the lobby. If you're in town around Christmas, make sure to check out the life-size gingerbread house all made out of real sugary goodness. So big that you can walk through it. Just don't take a bite.
Clean, love the old feel and look of the hotel. Just didn't like the parking.
It's a glamorous lady of a hotel. They upgraded us from a junior suite to an 800+ sq. ft. one with an awesome view! The Tonga Room still has rain and thunder after more than fifty years!
Ideally located for all directions, almost everything within walking distance. Nice rooms and in the tower on the 20th floor a fabulous view.
Beautiful hotel in a great location. Pricey, especially for a room with a bay view, but you knew that already!
It was beautiful. The staff was so friendly and welcome. It was our 32nd anniversary and they helped made it so wonderful. Thank you.
Very pleasant experience staying at this hotel. If you enjoy getting in some exercise, the hotel is at the top of a hill, so walking anywhere then back is going to work your legs if you're used to flat ground.
Beautiful old style hotel lovely Christmas decorations and a gingerbread house in the lobby but service was well below what was expected of a 5 star hotel...room service took two hours !
Came for drinks at the Tonga Room. Amazing tiki bar and live music, tons of space suitable for large groups. Drink prices are fairly reasonable, similar prices to other tiki bars in the city. The shared tiki bowls don't light up with fire if you're expecting that (likely due to hotel policies). You can get a stamp and re enter the venue at any time. Line gets long but moved pretty fast. Bouncer was really friendly. If you want to sit down there's a 15 dollar pp cover, which could be worth it if you want to come for food and drinks, with a more clear view of the live band, but it is quite pricey. Can't wait to come back again!
We're locals and only visited for the Tonga Room, but there's a reason this place is a San Francisco legend.
Great location for conference. Multiple areas for larger groups to gather. Lobby can get a bit loud but plenty of other place to have a conversation.
Beautiful hotel with sweeping views of the city on top of Nob Hill! Check out the Tonga Room
Gingerbread house and Christmas tree were really fun for the family.
Quintessential san Francisco with amazing views and service
Amazing hotel with such a friendly and helpful staff. They gave us a complimentary room upgrade and made our stay even more special. Come here when they have specials, and you can get a room with free parking for under $300.
Excellent rooms, very good service and very tasty food
Dinner at Laurel court, food is nice, but really slow service.
The food and drinks were great, and it was a nice environment.
Fun, interesting and very friendly city. Good walking shoes essential, and it's not cheap, but lots of excellent restaurants, bars and places to visit.
The hotel itself was very nice. However, I placed two wakeup calls for 5:30am and 5:40am with the concierge in order to catch an early shuttle to the airport. Neither of the wakeup calls came through. I notified the front desk about this as we were checking out and the woman there gave some terrible excuse about their automated system. For the price I paid for this hotel I would expect them to have better service. Overall the stay was disappointing.
Not worth the price plus VERRRY expensive parking for guests ???
The original Fairmont hotel with hundreds years history. Great location close to pier and downtown (but not walkable unless you are prepared to climb...)
Very fancy hotel. Good food and professional staff. Come see the gingerbread house at Xmas time
I just walk in and use the roof garden to pass some time. It's a very classy place and I'm so glad to have it in my neighborhood
Tonga was a blast though the automatic cover added to our bill was annoying
