The high tea was good, but not worth the price. While the snacks were amazing, the tea was only ok. Great service though.

Really nice hotel! The views were amazing! Also it's pretty close to other destinations like Chinatown. I was there for a wedding and the food and staff were great!
Beautiful historic hotel with one of a famous classic bar, The Tonga Room
Internet a pagamento non incluso nei 350 usd della camera e nemmeno una bottiglia d'acqua
Older building but beautiful location to have events at.
Service and amenities as expected from a five star hotel. Spend the night in the Contemporary Tower with Bay views. Room was spacious, well-kept, extremely clean, and felt luxurious.
Horrible experience. I have mild OCD, so I got the room just the way I liked it, and then I asked them not to make it up.
The first night it was fine - I came back to my room and it was perfect.
The second night I came back and it was made up. So I had a long chat discussion with the front desk, and they said that they would note it on my account and it would not be made up again.
The third night I came back and it was made up. I went to the front desk and had a long conversation with the manager Emma and she said that she would make sure it didn't happen again.
The forth night I came back and it was made up. I went to the front desk and eventually spoke with a tall woman with an English accent who never provided her name. She asked me if I had put up a privacy sign - pushing the responsibility for the hotel's lack of ability to follow their agreements
Additionally she indicated that the service crew went "above and beyond". To me, customer service is actually doing what the customer requests and wants. Above and beyond is doing more of what they want, not doing something they don't want and you've agreed not to do.
This hotel is truly GORGEOUS and fabulous all around. Do not come here if you are on a budget though.
UPDATE: 4.5 stars now- we spoke to the front desk a day later and got the robes we requested. Really gracious about it, too. Was an overall really nice experience.
3.5 stars, rounding up. No free water in room, despite the $25/ night resort fee. No bath robes and they didn't bring up when we asked for them. Water pressure is terrible, but that's apparently a california thing. Very nice hotel, but they're not equipped to accommodate requests when they're fully booked.
The Tonga Room reminds me of Disneyland's The Robinson Family tree house theme park. It's a little cheesy, but it's fun in that pirate kinda way. Plan to pay $45 for parking. Or plan to drive around 10-25 min looking for a meter. Better yet: take an Uber. Also be aware: no real vegetarian options. My work colleague got sick from too much boozin' on an empty stomach.
Went to The Tonga Room. Very good atmosphere and fun drinks.
This is the epitome of elegant accommodation. We visited the hotel's dining rooms and walked through the facility. Conference rooms abound and rooms are divine. The lobby is gorgeous and huge. A perfect place to hang out after dinner and watch the beautiful people come and go. We enjoyed the decor as much as dinner in the dining room.
Went for a party a little too classy for my taste went ti their lounge the TONGA ROOM for a birthday nice but again ti rich for my blood
Very disappointing. Dirty bathroom and Junior Suite with windows you cannot see out of. $1500 for a 2 night stay, and totally not worth it. (I realise I m being a little harsh on the bathroom as I know these extractor fans are hard to keep clean, but for the money, I expect better). This is room 716 and I m there now, and think that this room is an embarrassment to the Accor group and the Fairmont name. (Please look at my other reviews and you will see it is very rare indeed that I give a low score. This highlights my disappointment with this hotel).
The Fairmont is wonderful. I Am grateful to be able to to experience the amazing service and beautiful facilities. Thank you.
No pool but you have the Tonga bar instead! Highly recommended.
Very thoughtful staff went above and beyond to make my stay wonderful. Rooms were updated and spacious and mine had a beautiful view of the city and bay. Would stay here again!
We had dinner and drinks at the Tonga Room, for a holiday party. Great food. Great entertainment. The band on the water was awesome.
Very attentive and friendly staff. Well maintained and a beautiful building! I attended a conference there.
OMG! Have you seen the penthouse suites at this place?! Obama has stayed here many times according to staff. Prices are steep, but that's to be expected. The Tonga Room bar at the hotel is really cool! Go during happy hour.
Went to the Tonga room. Had a scorpion bowl. Bam!!!
I visit the Laurel Court for a relaxing brunch on the weekends often. It is nicely decorated and the service is great from the staff I have known for many years. It is great to relax there during the weekends.
Nice atmosphere, would love to stasy and try breakfast
Another great perk about this hotel is the location. Right on the water, close to everything. We even walked to Union Square. There was a farmers market that we enjoyed on Saturday. We honestly loved our short stay here. We will be back.
The Tonga Room is a well done hotel bar, but it's not worth a visit unless you're looking for a touristy spot with expensive drinks. They're strong, but they're also quite sweet.
So beautiful ...it is a historic building with lots of charm and is very luxiourious. The foyer is large and beautiful. The crown moulding, wall paper and architecture makes it a stand out.
There is a large upscale dining room off the foyer and a grand piano.
The rooms are spacious and the furniture is high end. The rooms have high ceilings and large windows, which let in alot of light. The rooms also have a spacious walk-in closet.
The washrooms are very roomy with high ceilings and large windows.
The staff was amazing...very attentive and polite.
It was one of the nicest places I have ever stayed.
Beautiful hotel. Love visiting the Tonga Room in the basement!!
The Good: the hotel rooms have great views, a very stately and gorgeous lobby, the staff were some of the best at I have ever encountered, the history of the hotel is really neat.
The Rest: while here my first room was in their tower section and I was on the top most floor for rooms. The room was very nice and it had great views. The initial impression was great. However, my first night at the hotel I came back from dinner around 9:45 and was quite tired as it was my first day on the West Coast and I came from East Coast time. When I got to the floor there was music blaring. I thought maybe it was one of the other rooms so I called the front desk to see if they could help control the noise, they informed me that there was a wedding in their function room above and there was nothing they could do. This was not music easily ignored and now I was infuriated with the fact they would even put guests on this floor if they knew they had a wedding that night. I went down to speak to the manager and basically got a night manager that could not do anything. We settled on moving my room, which was a bit of an inconvenience but it allowed me to sleep. I asked that they have the general manager give me a call the next day. I never heard from the GM for the rest of my stay. Unfortunately, there were minor annoyances with the new room like the shower pressure was completely different and it taking over two minutes for the water to actually become hot in the shower.
I find the experience really unfortunate for the hotel. This is not a place I would return to the next time I go to San Francisco. There are plenty of nice hotels with much more attentive management staffs. Hopefully other guests will not have the same issue.
The dining room is beautiful, with lots of space and open seating. We had afternoon tea, which has a decent selection of tea and a good spread to enjoy it with. The big negative with this experience was the online booking. It lets you book way outside of the narrow window the restaurant opends for afternoon tea, which is something they really need to adjust. Luckily, they extended to tea for us (which was excellent and very much appreciated.) The service was prompt and nice, so I'd overall recommend the experience!
We went to the Tonga Room for drinks with friends. It's a cool tiki themed restaurant with a pool in the middle of the floor, a boat with a live band that floats in the pool, and rain falling from the ceiling every 15 minutes or so. The punch bowl to share with your table is great.
Second time here. Great hotel. Rooms are remodeled and great experience overall.
Beautiful location, clean rooms, excellent friendly professional service!
The quintessential San Francisco hotel. Excellent service and a beautiful historic style throughout.
We loved it. While there were some rather rich folks hanging out there, we were never made to feel as though we should not be there. The room was nice and traditional in a stately fashion. Maid service was very attentive and we enjoyed the glass bottle of Evian water and chocolates compliments of American Express. This was our first time at the Fairmont in SF, although I have stayed at the Fairmont in Calgary several times, but for work. It is actually the only place that I stay when in Calgary. They treat me so kindly and I just love the stately rooms. Now going back to the Fairmont San Fran, make sure that you attend the nightly wind down between 5 and 6 pm. They have nice cheese, fruit, etc and a decent selection of beverages. If the weather permits, enjoy the treats outside in the garden. It is lanscaped beautifully and you might even spot a rich and famous person looking down at you from their terrace patio. Also make sure you go to the Tonga restaurant. It is a must see, especially since it used to be the swimming pool. A few other attributes, there are several nice shops. The one I enjoyed the most was the Kashmir shop where the shop keeper will educate you on the very expensive Kashmir shawls. Last recommendation is that you enjoy the buffet beakfast..nice pastries, smoked salmon, European deli meats and cheese, fruit, cold items plus traditional breakfast fare and more. Yes, this place is expensive, but if you make a point to enjoy everything it has to offer including reading up on the history, you will enjoy it and finally Nob Hill is a nice area to explore, but make sure you bring you bionic legs....lots of steep streets.
Everyone should experience dancing, music, and drinks at the Tonga room (the tiki bar in the basement). It's a ton of fun, and the live band covers a bunch of great music!
Clean and well decorated. I only visited the Tonga restaurant and it was a unique experience.
Had the best experience at this hotel. Staff was amazing. They recognized we were celebrating our wedding anniversary and even sent a bottle of champagne and strawberries to our room. We are so grateful and thank you for making our anniversary feel special. My husband and I got massages at the wellness center are they were perfect. We had dinner in the Tonga room. It was excellent. We got to check in early and even get a later check out. Its walking distances to union square. Cable car or an Uber to the wharf. So easy and simple. I can rave about this place enough. Thank you Fairmont for a wonder experience. We will definitely be back.
Top entertainers in the Venetian Room and good food in Laurel Court. Accessible by public transportation.
Very fancy hotel. Lobby was quite impressive. Just stepped in to take a look and use the restroom (which were nice and clean) so can't speak to the rooms. Luxurious feeling though.
Tonga room is cheesy, but still kinda fun. Drink was pretty weak and disappointing. Cool space though.
Very nice hotel , the tonga room was pretty cool to check out
Beds are nice but hotel looks very old and outdated
Attended a professional event. It would be good to have better signage inside indicating how to get to certain conference rooms. The electronic sign is nice but could be updated showing a better layout of the floor.
I just went to see Tony Bennett, so I do n t know about the hotel.
Beautiful, clean, and spacious. We have never been disappointed at a Fairmont property yet!
Very nice interior but felt like the staff could have been friendlier
Gorgeous area and a pretty lobby. Hard to park and kind of far from everything.
Nice king room with a view, gorgeous hotel, and really great staff.
Wonderful staff. Very clean. Great room. Will be staying there again
Fairmont. San fr...the best hotel. Sanfraciso is booming pretty lady walk ing down the street. The hotel. Is like that. ! You get a chance. Take it. Go for the gold. .
The building is fantastic from the outside but inside it feels a bit dated. I also feel the attention in the reception could be better, upon check in instead of being welcomed I was asked if I wanted to pay more for a bigger room and it felt very inpersonal.
The restaurant was a convenient place for us to eat before a show at a nearby venue. The prices were as high as expected on Nob Hill, but the food and service was better than we expected. We would definitely go back.
We stayed at the Fairmont over Easter weekend. Everything was clean, well kept, and the staff were all friendly and helpful. Had a great time!
Elegant rooms but I would like the service to be more personalized.
Great location, impressive lobby, quite upscale, great restaurants and rooftop gardens.
