We had a lovely stay at the Fairmont. Rooms are posh (although the bathroom in our suite in the old building was perfunctory; I know the bathrooms in the tower are more up-to-date). Lobby is beautiful.

Overpriced tea service! The food is, very surprisingly, mediocre. They gave each of us a nutcracker which I suppose was fun. But I would recommend their regular tea service when it s not the holiday season.

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone! You really made me very happy and satisfied! The staff was so friendly and helpful we felt welcome from the moment we arrived. I also observed that the place was very cleaned and organized. I will surely recommend your awesome and wonderful Hotel here in our area. Cheers!

Great room, great service. What I'd expect for a 5 star hotel. The $20 per night resort fee was pretty lame - it felt like nickel and diming on top of an already pricy hotel room. Don't miss the Tonga Room.

We came here for the Tonga Lounge, which had really cool decor, but the drinks were not great and they enforced standing room only for people not having dinner even though there were many many tables open. Worth going once to see the location but I wouldn't go again

I love this hotel. Have almost always had perfect service here. One time a maid busted in the room without knocking first, and that was not cool. The service in the Laurel Court isn't great but if you just relax and not take it personally, the food is ok and it's nice when the piano player plays in the evenings. Their gift shop is closed at the most inopportune times. They should have someone cover breaks instead of just closing. But you can't beat the views, the comfy beds and great location!

Nice hotel. Nice staff. Have been here now for 4 events in SF. Bathroom placement could be better for some of the rooms - guests had to walk to the other side of the hotel and back to use the restroom. Food was good - above average, but not amazing. Staff was always attentive and friendly. Would recommend for your large events.

Excellent historical hotel on top of nob Hill in San Francisco. It has an excellent view of the Bay, unparallel service, superb amenities and lots of restaurants and shops within the hotel. It is pretty pricey, but even if you are not staying, it's worth it to pay a visit just to look around the hotel architecture.

The Fairmont is a fancy, upscale hotel with an old-timey ornate flair. If you are visiting from out of town and want to see a classic big-city hotel lobby with a huge ceiling and a beautiful sitting area, then this is worth a stop. During the holidays, they have a giant Christmas tree in the center of the lobby, and a huge gingerbread house that is two stories high. There is a restaurant on the same floor, and during the weekend evenings, they serve champagne from a small mobile bar in the lobby area. There is also an outdoor patio that has Christmas lights and a few of some of the side streets that can be enjoyable to sit and rest or talk. The rooms can be pretty pricey here, but if you can afford it then this is definitely a superior place to stay.

Extremely comfortable rooms with great views and every convenience. Beautiful lobby and fun bars/restaurants. The Tonga Room is an awesome time capsule of a bar. Good location, though there's not a ton of retail and restaurants immediately around the hotel.

The Fairmont is a beautiful historic hotel in the Nob Hill neighborhood perched atop two VERY steep hills next to the Huntington Club and Huntington Park. Inside-lots of marble, gilded mirrors, carved wood, chandeliers, tons of natural light and real plants. Extremely walk able to Powell street shopping, China Town, and the Financial district (including historic Tadich seafood restaurant). Or just take the cable car right off of California street, just south of the main entrance.

Depending on your room there are potential views of the bay. Room location can be confusing but the detours provide a glimpse of old glamour. My room had a queen bed, small vanity alcove with great lighting, large bathroom an striking photographic art. Sometimes the stairs make more sense if the elevator is backed up. I was there for a conference and the wifi/data access was challening unless you were connected to the hotel system. If you join the Fairmont President's club wifi is included with your room.

There is an amazing rooftop garden with fountain and palm trees framing Coit tower views. Plus a separate food garden with an official haven for mason bees. They participate in a sustainable food initiative and the food tastes great. Home to Laurel Court and the Tonga restaurants. There is a fitness center but no pool. There are several shops, most exclusive (Woodard Jewelry, a Jade specialist, rugs, beautiful oraments, etc.,) yet the gift shop is reasonably priced compared to SFO airport!

Very friendly and helpful staff. You can leave your bags with the bellman after check out to extend any sightseeing before departure.

I visited the Tonga Room tiki bar & restaurant with friends, and we really enjoyed it. The drinks were good, the unique atmosphere and live music were fun. However, I did think the food was a little overpriced.

Excellent hotel. Everything from the rooms to the warm & friendly staff are top notch. Food is definitely overpriced. So look elsewhere if $$$$ rating is not your thing.
Edit 9/21/18: Decided to treat myself to the hot buffet breakfast this morning. Although I stand by my original opinion that it's rather pricey, the food is really very good. Maple syrup for my waffles is the real deal. Very good quality Maple syrup, not the big store brand. Bacon was crisp without being burnt (got to figure out how they did that). Only juice available was orange. But it was fresh squeezed, and naturally sweet .All the fruits I had were sweet as well (honeydew, pineapple, strawberries). Coffee is nice and strong but not offensive to the tastebuds. The wait staff are very attentive. My glass and cup were never empty. For $43/pp after taxes, it's a good deal, especially considering it costs $10 for a cup of coffee .

Ugh...I don't know why everybody is so excited about this place. The rooms are ok, but the gouging... This place sucks money out of you at every turn. Everything is so ridiculously expensive. A happy hour with 2 people in the main bar with fries will swiftly sail past $100. I couldn't wait to get to the airport where the sodas are cheaper.

One of the last places in San Francisco you can take a step into the enchanting past of the city. No other hotel in the city comes close to the level of detail, hospitality, and grandiose of the Fairmont SF.

Made a reservation for afternoon tea on Saturday. I was searching for parking near by. However, it seems all the parking around the hotel are expensive. So I called the hotel to ask about the rate. Good thing they give two hours parking for free if you are going to join them for afternoon tea. After two hours, it is $6 per 20 mins. The receptionist was saying all the proper words over the phone but you can tell her tone was impatient. A little bit surprise to get that from a 5 star hotel.

When we arrived on the front area of the hotel, we could not find anyone to help us to violet our car (it is required). Finally, we waved at someone with uniform then he came over to help us. Laurel Court is the place we had our afternoon tea. Service was extremely slow. Our waiter was friendly but he was the only one serving whole section so it was hard to find him. We got our tea about 20 mins and deserts about 30 mins later after ordering. You can try all the teas on the menu. Sandwiches were decent. They used different kinds of breads and cut them in different shapes. Scones were tasty. I was not a big fan of the bottom tray. They were deserts that rotate every week. It is $49 per person. One selection only. I think the price is reasonable for the food and its location.

The restaurant and whole first floor of the hotel need some paint and fix. It is a fancy hotel for sure but you feel it is tired. Marble is not shining. Paints are chipped. Some furniture are dusty. I love the building and I hope they can do a good maintenance to keep its beauty. One thing I also noticed is staff were not warm. I was trying to find restroom and couple of staff saw me wondering around but no one asked me or tried to help. When we went outside to get our car, no one was there. We waited then two staff came back. They saw us but did not ask us why we stand there until we told them we want to get our car back. When we got our car, the driver did not open doors for us but you could tell he wanted tips. We gave him tips but got a mixed feeling. Overall the service level was not very high. I hope this is just one time bad experience.
