We had a great stay at the Farimont Inn. It is a beautiful hotel that is extremely ornate and posh. It's very clean and the rooms were comfortable. There was a great view of the bay and a cool spot called the Tonga Room downstairs. It was definitely on the pricey side, but if you have the money I'd recommend staying there.

I made a reservation for a King size bed a month before my conference. A few days before the reservation, I rec'd a confirmation for a queen sized bed. I sent an email advising of the error and when I arrived I was advised that only by paying an additional $40/night could I obtain a King size bed. At 6'4' a King is required. I advised on the mistake a check-in and check out but no satisfaction. Absent this I would have raved about the hotel.
We went to see the holiday decorations. Everything was super festive! The gingerbread house was fantastic. Once you enter, the smell of sugar and gingerbread fills your senses. Everyone was sweet and helpful.
From the moment we arrived, everything about our stay at the Fairmont was beyond excellent! The bell staff, especially Tony and Tavios were so exceptional about handling our excess luggage and beyond prompt at getting our bags to our room. Becca at the front desk checked us in immediately and even upgraded us! The food and drinks at the Tonga Room, along with our wonderful server, PJ made for a fantastic time. Breakfast was outstanding, and Tony our outstanding bellman organized our baggage and transport to the airport. We absolutely can t wait to come back to the Fairmont!
Dirt on running boards, you forgot to remove an unplugged refrigerator from the room, the front desk gave me wrong instructions to connect to internet, when I asked to have my car pulled around to load it up before check out the bellhop told me in and out privileges weren't available. They also suggested I load my own car in the garage instead of them pulling it up. They also took 20 minutes. All that BS for only an additional $70 parking fee. There is also a silly$20 Resort fee to access the internet and gym. Everything is just old and with the way the Fairmont presents itself and the price it is completely not worth it. 25 years ago I'm sure the room was amazing but with all the beautique hotels and other amazing hotels in the city I will not be returning to the Fairmont.
Iconic hotel at the top of Nob hill..safe place to walk and see beautiful views. Rooms are nice, water pressure in showers is low. Says to save water, but 20 min in a showers is the same as 10 in a high flow.
Staying at your Hotel was very unforgettable! The food was very delicious and the place was also very cleaned and wide. I also admired the kindness of the staves and they were all very professional and friendly. I will surely be back in your hotel! I must strongly and highly recommend you to everyone!
Very nice historic hotel with extremely friendly and accommodating staff. Location is at the top of a large hill, so the views are great; however, it is a hike to walk to most restaurants. Fortunately, the hotel has a couple of bars and Ubers are abundant.
Less than exceptional food. Savory chicken waffle foe me yuck. My hubby food unremarkable. Fries were excellent. Place beautiful dogs everywhere big and small. No pool.
Went to the Tonga room. Beautiful bar, but very expensive $24 for a rum drink. It was busy when we went and my friend asked the bartender for a recommendation, the bartenders response was "Oh, so you're not ready yet?" And moved on to someone else. TLDR: Great decor, nice (But expensive) drinks, sub par service.
Beautiful historic hotel. Even if you're not staying there a walk around the lobby and first floor is worthwhile. You'll see impressive marble everywhere and pictures of the famous guests from years past.
I live about 2 blocks from the Fairmont and just love it here! Not only do I have a membership at the LiveFit there, I also love going to the Tonga room!
Aside from that, the rooms are really clean and the staff is incredibly accommodating. I had an awesome staycation and can t wait to return.
The service was impeccable. Every interaction with the staff was top notch. The rooms were large and comfortable. In my opinion, it is overpriced and a little over the top. I think it just wasn't our style.
Hotel and rooms are really nice, but bathrooms desperately need rehabbing. Water pressure is non existent and showering is painful. The "spa" is a gym spa, no luxury there. And info about it is hard to find. Location is ok, 10 min drive from most places you'd rather be.
The ULTIMATE San Francisco Experience! Make sure to book a Deluxe Tower Room with Bay View and specify any floor starting from 18th and above. There is a bldg in the way of the Golden Gate unless you get a floor to clear it. We stayed in 1805, but I think the 17th and possibly 16th might make it over the obstruction, just ask when you book! It's a GIANT window with a panoramic of the Golden Gate, Angel Island, Alcatraz, Coit Tower, the TransAmerica and a shot of the new Eastern span of the Bay Bridge lit up in the distance. Secure a reservation at the Tonga Room when booking your room, otherwise you're forced to stand in line with everyone else off the street who can't make a reservation unless they are a guest at the hotel or have a party of 10 or more. No joke, the line goes around the corner and down the hall! Note: The hotel room is LUXURY, the Tonga isn't, BUT it's a must-see if you've never been. It's like being transported to Tom Sawyer's Island in Disneyland with the added effect of thunder, lightning, rain and a band! Well worth the money for an anniversary ;)
I love the location of the Fairmont hotel! It's perched on top of a tall hill making the views stunning. I always visit during christmas time to see their decorations! Amazing!
The hotel staff are very warm and easy to talk too. The hotel restaurant is a joy. Enjoy the public space...what a exlaxing time..just want to drink coffee all day long and take in the space. Room are very traditional to the space and service is none like I have seem.
Meh. The hotel itself is beautiful and has tons of old San Francisco charm. The rooms, however, not so much. Very small, very noisy, very old, not so much charm. It's a must to visit at Christmas time though. The hotel is beautifully decorated, there is an enormous gingerbread house, a cookie decorating room for kids and a Moet and Chandon bar for mom and dad.
Amazing just architecturally it's perfect for pictures and the history within the walls is great all the employees were super helpful and always smiling
They say it's the first or second nicest hotel in San Francisco, is quoted in the north of the city, passing the cablecar on the corner and has to Union Square.
Got drinks at the Tonga Room. Great drinks and the decor was really cool. They have both classic Tiki cocktails like the Mai Tai and Zombie as well as more modern versions. Would definitely visit again.
This review is for the Tonga room only. The staff was helpful navigating to the bar. The atmosphere was standard time lounge feel, dark lit and filled with fake tiki statues. Drinks with yummy but overpriced. It's a fun experience, but I likely won't come back.
Beautiful Hotel walking distance to the piers and China town places to eat for breakfast etc. We used Lyft to go see the Golden bridge for 10 dlls cheaper than a cab. Had a great time.
Lovely view of the bay from the room. It's an interesting, old historical hotel. Check in did not provide full information concerning one bed in the room (we needed two beds) and hold on credit card charges. Eggs for breakfast were the best. Generally, a nice stay
