This is a legendary Fine dining restaurant Everyone eating here should see the documentary on Netflix on Ella Brennans life and the history of this restaurant and its Chefs. You will get world class service from the minute you arrive . The food is delicious!!

Do yourself a favour and don t get the chef s tasting menu for $90/person. Was expecting a true culinary experience based on the reputation, but of the five plates served, most were average (at best). Bland risotto with a few pieces of crawfish... plain fois gras on a hard biscuit. The only redeeming plate served was the boudin stuffed quail (I d give it 4/5 stars). If I could have a meal do-over, I d order the quail as an entre instead... or better yet, go somewhere else! This place felt like a huge rip off... cranking out boring meals for a huge crowd in an overly stuffy setting. Not my idea of a culinary experience.

Attended a business lunch. The staff was very nice and did a great job, food was good with several options specific to the restaurant. Was kind of expensive but you likely are expecting it to be. It would be a good option for a special occasion.

Excellent food. Excellent service.

Excellent food. Excellent service.

However I will say that everything felt a little rushed. Like dropping the spoon on the plate. Stacking plates on top of each other loudly. You can take your time. It s no big deal!!

Stopped by for a Coolinary event to celebrate a friend's last night in Louisiana. We were upstairs this time and I have to say I felt like we were ignored for much of the beginning of the meal. The joke was on them, because we planned to go all out. We started with cocktails (excellent) and went with the Coolinary menu. We both started with the Georgia Peach salad with fresh figs and goat cheese. It's hard to mess up salads for me, as I love salad, and this was no exception. I ordered the seafood courtbouillon and she the wagyu. The fish and the shrimp were cooked perfectly, and I was told the clams were excellent as well (I traded my clams for a few bites of wagyu.) The sauce was a bit thicker than I was expecting but very tasty--in fact my friend was more than eager to steal the crostini on the top of my dish and soak it all up. Her wagyu was nothing short of scrumptious and the sauce accompanied it very well. I had to ask to talk to the sommelier with some insistence (I guess we didn't look like we'd actually order a whole bottle of wine? Pssh. Of course we would) and she chose us a 2015 marcel lapierre Morgon beaujolais. It went well with her steak and surprisingly well with my fish.

Td;dr: the Coolinary menu is worth the price but don't then spend $80 on wine, cocktails, and tequila shots or it becomes super expensive again...

A true New Orleans classic. The second time I went, I ordered the same drink I ordered from them three years prior. The drink was no longer on the menu, but they had somebody run out to get the ingredients and remade it for me! Everything about this place exudes class and excellence.

Dress code to get in...even at lunch. No shorts, despite the fact I could play a round of golf at just about any country club in America with what I was wearing (nice khaki shorts and a golf shirt with collar). We were then told it is best to call for a reservation and ask if what we plan to wear is "appropriate". Really??? Get over yourself... I could go on but it would be a waste of my time. I'll spend my money elsewhere.

Didn't disappoint! It's expertly paired and prepared cuisine. The fact they smoked the duck before cooking it to perfection is proof that this is still a source of pride for a chef under the roof built by some of the best. "Barbaro!"

An absolute institution and quintessential Old New Orleans. RESERVATIONS REQUIRED! The food, the ambience, the service (and the prices, heh) are all at the high-end of what you could hope for from a restaurant.

Everything I've had in the few times I have been there has been absolutely AMAZING. The turtle soup is a must-have, so make sure you get some! Other than that, I'm convinced that it is impossible to go wrong, but your waiter will be highly trained and know the menu inside and out, so he or she will deftly help you navigate the menu based on your tastes/preferences.

Two quick tips:

1) Ask to sit in the garden room. It oversees the gorgeous garden, and the walls are covered with mirrors, so you feel like you are eating IN a garden. In my opinion it is by FAR the most beautiful seating in this (very large) restaurant.

2) 25 cent martinis! I know they serve these during brunch AND at other times, but I'm not sure when those other times are (feel free to ask when you call to make your reservations). Alcoholics of the world don't get too excited - no one will be served more than 5 of these (sorry, dad).

This place is phenomenal! I had the pecan crusted fish and it was the best meal I've ever eaten! My boyfriend had the the filet and he said it was the best steak he has ever eaten in his entire life. I highly recommend this place if you are visiting New Orleans, you definitely need to make reservations to eat here!

3rd time here. There is a reason it is a New Orleans institution. There is a reason that the best chefs in New Orleans worked here starting out. They know how to give you an experience to remember. And that is what a meal here is, an experience. From the greeting, to every staff member welcoming you as you pass, to the decor, to the ambiance, to the drinks, to the entire room of waitstaff making sure nothing is missed, to the soups, the appetizers, to the entrees, to the deserts, this is a total dining experience that you will find in no other place.

Despite how many places in New Orleans we need to try we will be back again.

Delicious southern food served in a dining room that is a throwback to a classier era, with large chandeliers and white table cloths. You'll want to dress up a bit (jackets recommended for the guys), but I was pleasantly suprised the service was super friendly and welcoming. Tried the gumbo (delicious), turtle soup (ok), stuffed quail (moist and yum), and the bourbon cream souffle (must-have). And of course, who can forget a few $0.25 martini's!

We had brunch on New Years Day and it was incredible. The staff, food, and atmosphere are legendary and everything lived up to its billing. We were so glad to get a reservation on our visit.

The food and service were second to none. I have never experienced 3 servers taking care of our table and making sure we lacked nothing. The Turtle soup, scallops, steak and almond crusted fish were perfect. Followed by light and fluffy bread pudding. A must eat place in New Orleans.

We were not disappointed. They has a special brunch menu which was fantastic. It included Turtle Soup and the dessert was Bread Pudding Souffle. We loved every course. Service was perfection as was the food. And, I've got to admit, the price for the set brunch menu was reasonable for the quality of the food and setting.

As I had heard of Commander s Palace as a long time restaurant and touristy, I did not have high expectations. I was so wrong! Ambiance in Garden Room, food presentation, service not only warm, friendly but with the utmost professionalism. The food was gorgeous and flavors combined to make you not want to finish the tastes. Strawberry salad devine with spiced pecans, arugula, strawberries. I had a tostada which I would never order but, again the flavors had subtlety , soft and spicy . I hated to finish it. Oh lunch also was complete with the 25 cent martinis which they didn t fudge with. Bravo bravo bravo.

Very disappointed, very overrated & very over priced.

I spend lots of time eating out, so my observations are based on that. I appreciate that I received a last minute reservation for Thanksgiving Day, but my gratitude stops there.

Menu is not expansive enough for anyone that wants to include children on a nice evening out. I went with my 19-yr old daughter and 14-yr old granddaughter, who too were disappointed. Please keep in mind that my review is based on The Thanksgiving Menu.

I "think" my plate was suppose to be turkey, dressing & yams with some type of lumpy looking crumb topping. It looked like left over dog food mixed into one dish. The brussel sprouts with bacon were just as unappealing, as they were watery and had absolutely no flavor.

I'm an excellent cook and can say with confidence that a 1-yr Sous Chef probably prepared the dish.

The $150+ bill for three was not out of my monetary range, but not worth what we ate.

I have entertained people in my home that enjoy my food so much, that I constantly get offers to cater dinners for them (catering is not my profession). So there is no way I could recommend dinner at The a Commanders a Palace.

I should have said something to the owner when she stopped at my table to speak, but didn't want to ruin her 90th birthday celebration.

Janet and the waitstaff were excellent, but that's the only category that gets that rating.

What can I say...after watching the show kn the history, on Netflix, Commander's Palace did not disappoint!
Starting with cocktails an a walk around the garden, we felt relaxed.
The service was top notch and the meal from beginning to end ( dessert) did not disappoint!
Thank you for the wonderful meal experience.

This was a fantastic dining experience. I recommend making reservations far in advance. The waitstaff was extremely courteous and attentive. Everything served (bread before the meal, appetizers, entree, dessert, wine, and espresso) was absolutely delicious and it was obvious that no detail was forgotten. The complementary valet was quick and also very courteous. This is a fantastic place for dinner on a special occasion.

Commander's Palace serves one of the best brunches I've ever had. I ordered the three course meal and loved every dish, the quail being my favorite. If I lived in NOLA I'd make it a priority to stop in as much as possible.

Service: The best in the world. No complaints.

Service: The best in the world. No complaints.
Food: Found bones in our duck. They profusely apologized and took it off the bill, but that's something that would even be unacceptable at Red Robin, let alone this classic institution.
Bathrooms: Worse than a dive on Bourbon. Piss on the floor, no towels to dry your hands. Disgusting.

Today was our 59th wedding anniversary. We went to Commanders for lunch. I was very disappointed. The bus boy brought us bread wrapped in a napkin. A few minuets later he took it away without a word to us. I requested bread again but it never came.so we never got he bread with our meal . I ordered the fish and it was not cooked properly. The fish was very rubber like, I ate a few bits but unable to eat it. My wife had the shrimp and it was good she said. We both shared the cheese cake and it was excellent.

Less than expected. Reservations were for 6:30 and we were seated immediately. We were celebrating two birthdays, one was recognized and the other wasn't. Our table was for six and located outside the bathrooms on the second floor. There was so much confusion, not only people using the restrooms but the servers tables and trays were set up in the same area. It was so loud that we couldn't even carry on a conversation at the table.
On to the food and service. The soup was so salty we couldn't eat it and had to opt for a salad instead. The entrees were OK, tasty but just ok. The desert was ok, but again I have had much better elsewhere. Had to order the strawberry shortcake, if wanted, with dinner order. Don't know why....wasn't anything special that would require that much prep time. Service: again it was ok. When the water glasses were refilled the server spilled as much on the table as in the glasses. Different servers for water, placing order, delivering food to the table, etc. I never felt like any one person in the group of servers really catered to our needs. Other than when they brought food to the table we were ignored. Ordered coffee and had to ask for refills. Strongest coffee in New Orleans...think it had been setting for a while.

I think it's a lot of hype, very expensive and I would recommend going somewhere else. Our dinner was over $400.00 plus tip. As we were leaving and waiting for our car, there was a traffic jam in front of the building and the on-duty security guard started yelling at drivers. I won't return.

What a factory! You are cattle in this place. It is a cartoon of its original charm. The server forgot to order two main courses on a table of six. One was mine. They also gave the desserts to the wrong guests. The food is delicious..At least the appetizer I had (Never got the main course). .But not worth the hurried inept service and unearned pomp. Fit for your grandpa , not fit for today's generation with its more sophisticated expectations.

We love Commanders, it is our favorite restaurant as we have always considered it a dining experience. However, our last visit for lunch was very disappointing. First, our Martinis were not cold. We let our waitress know , but the second one was not any better. I had turtle soup which was very good. My wife had the Commanders salad which was very dry. We mentioned it to our waitress, she apologized, but it was not to Commander's standard. Twice we were told that bread and butter were on the way, but our waitress finally brought it after our main course had arrived. We both had the catfish, buy it was warm at best and the sauce had begun to gel. Our deserts were the best part of the meal once we received them after a 20 minute wait

New Orleans foods are not fitted for me as a foreigner.
But this place, the best place for dining.
I ate tasting menu, and every course was good enough.
They focused on to keep ingredients good flavor and taste, and successfully reduce bad things.
not too spicy.
Because of the Commander's palace, I can make a fine memory about foods of this city.
Thanks.
