An absolute institution and quintessential Old New Orleans. RESERVATIONS REQUIRED! The food, the ambience, the service (and the prices, heh) are all at the high-end of what you could hope for from a restaurant.
Everything I've had in the few times I have been there has been absolutely AMAZING. The turtle soup is a must-have, so make sure you get some! Other than that, I'm convinced that it is impossible to go wrong, but your waiter will be highly trained and know the menu inside and out, so he or she will deftly help you navigate the menu based on your tastes/preferences.
Two quick tips:
1) Ask to sit in the garden room. It oversees the gorgeous garden, and the walls are covered with mirrors, so you feel like you are eating IN a garden. In my opinion it is by FAR the most beautiful seating in this (very large) restaurant.
2) 25 cent martinis! I know they serve these during brunch AND at other times, but I'm not sure when those other times are (feel free to ask when you call to make your reservations). Alcoholics of the world don't get too excited - no one will be served more than 5 of these (sorry, dad).
