What a delightful experience! A New Orleans institution that delights the senses and invokes the idea that impeccable service is not only one of "A List" establishments! A tradition for many, but some its a first time at this timeless masterpiece of NOLA history! I highly recommend Commanders Palace. Make sure you dress to impress, there is a dress code here and you don't want to miss out because you show up in shorts and a t-shirt! Enjoy!

This place was amazing from start to finish! I have eaten at so many places in NOLA and wondered why are the ratings so high, it was good but not 5 star... that is until I came here. Hands down best place! The oyster soup was such a yummy surprise and had so much hidden flavor.

An elegant old New Orleans restaurant with fabulous food & excellent service! The patio is very nice for a cozy lunch with your loved ones! Love it!

Call ahead and make reservations. We scored one the day of. They do have a dress code which they emphasize when you call to make a reservation. Location is right across from the Lafayette Cemetery. Inside it is beautiful and elegant. Food is good and pricey. I was not a fan of the gumbo but loved their romaine salad, mashed potatoes, and shrimp appetizers. Also their bread pudding is to die for. Service was attentive but they were super busy which caused some long pauses and waiting. Overall it was okay but I would maybe come back for brunch, not dinner.

We did the lunch with the 25c Martinis and it was a wow. Gentle service where you are treated with real courtesy. Thank you to Troy and Michael for looking after us so well.

There are many places to eat in New Orleans where you can get a great meal and not spend a lot of money so it's rare that I will take the time to go for fine dining. When I do though, this is my go to spot.
I've been about 5 times and I've never had a single negative experience here. You do have to dress up a little but the environment is not stuffy.
If you are only visiting New Orleans once make sure you get a reservation here, and I would highly recommend making it for Sunday brunch.

Had reservations for Monday May 30th at noon. I arrived early and was taken in right away. Got the Creole Crawfish Strudel and the Creole Gumbo and 3 Martini's. Service was top notch and food was excellent. Will come back again.

Wow! Commander's Palace lived up to the hype and it's 6 James Beard awards. One of the best all around meals I've eaten. Period. Impeccable food and service.

Nestled in the Garden District, we took the St. Charles Streetcar from the French Quarter. You'll need a reservation. The building itself is a sprawling home, painted sea foam green and white with matching awning. Inside the decor is light and airy, albeit formal. Think afternoon at a country club? The surrounding gardens are lovely to walk through, which you are welcome to do with your cocktail.

Our service was top notch. Don't be in a hurry. If you are, come back another time. This place is best enjoyed over a couple hours. The server provided detailed descriptions of the menu, allowed plenty of time for decisions, and never rushed. Ask for the soup sampler - that way you can try the famous turtle soup and whatever the other two options are at the time. I've attached a photo of what I expect was the best salad I'll ever eat: pickled lobster and avocado. Magnifique! And of course, the bread pudding souffle. Just delicious.

PRO TIP: Go for lunch on a week day. Enjoy up to 3 martinis at 25 cents a pop with your meal. That's 6 martinis for $1.50 - what?!?

I went as part of a party of more than 30 people. Each course was delicious, fresh and perfectly timed. The staff was friendly and well prepared to handle groups.

We visited Commander's Palace for lunch. This restaurant is an American icon for fine dining. We read a review that said lunch was a perfect way to experience this place for half the price of brunch or dinner. There is a strict dress code which suits the place and atmosphere. My favorite was the unbelievable 25cent martinis... Limit 3 per person. We had gulf oyster panzanella for our starter and Chef Troy's Classic Creole luncheon which included turtle soup, molasses glazed Texas Quail and Creole bread pudding souffle. Our other entree was The Creole Tostada. Everything was delicious and service was professional and more sincere and warm than you would expect in a formal dining experience. When we asked our waiter Peter to compliment the chef on the excellent food, he took us to the kitchen and introduced us to Chef Tory. We would definitely recommend this establishment as a must visit in New Orleans. Thank you Claudia, Mason & Peter for great service! Our check after food and 6 martinis came to $77...unbelievable!

Was okay. Serving staff seemed disconnected and not a team. Our main server wouldn't take dirty dishes away as if it were beneath him. I was poured part of my wine from a small carafe and I had to pour the rest myself. Lots of little things for such a fine dining venue. Also mentioned to hostess that is was my birthday and no one ever did anything and tables around had special birthday balloons and dessert.

Had a very nice 1 year anniversary dinner here. We chose Chef Meg's Three Course. The shrimp curry was a little strong on the citrus, but everything was nice

The service and atmosphere were phenomenal. They plated the soup right in front of us, gave us complimentary birthday shots, and the food was to die for. They even took a photo for us after our meal.

The highlight of our trip to NOLA. Tried for dinner reservations which were unavailable, but the gentleman I talked to, Jimmy, was so wonderful and charming, suggested several alternate restaurants and made reservations for us for lunch later. We had a superb table, and the staff was exceptional. Incidentally, the food was so delicious, we were all amazed. This restaurant deserves all the praise it gets. Do not miss Commander's Palace!

There is certainly a likelihood that you ll have an amazing dining experience here and that is probably the case on a normal occasion. It obviously comes at a higher price so accept the cost if that is what you are after. Our visits have provided a heightened level of service also, which has been at or above expectations. The last visit the food became too rich for me, and my body just couldn t take anymore. I ve never experienced this but will be back for the food and service. If you can afford it, take advantage of it. You can also enjoy the famous cemetery and celebrity homes that are very close by. Enjoy!

If I could give this restaurant six stars I would. Highly recommend the chef's tasting (or whatever it's called, it's the coursed meal) with accompanying wine pairing. Enjoyed an essentially private tour given by our server at the close of the restaurant. Worth saving money to eat at this place.

There are truly no words to describe how amazing this restaurant is. From walking in the door to walking out the entire staff is friendly, professional and attentive.
Been there several times and everytime it is perfect. They dont rush you, they make sure that you are done with each course before the next one comes. They dont hover over you constantly asking if you need anything, but always seem to be available immediately if you do

One of the best places to eat I highly recommend it. It has a more social atmosphere and is usually crowded. The food is great and is truly an experience to remember.

We went here for my fiance's birthday and had an amazing time. They let you have three of the twenty five cent martinis, but unless it's your last stop of the day I'm not sure I'd recommend it. Everything got a bit fuzzy afterward, but I can clearly remember the great meal! The snapping turtle soup was killer.

The food was definitely great, but the service is what is truly exceptional about this place. Treated like royalty the minute you walk in.

Please add back a Grand Mariner Souffle.
Add a few more splits of red Wine.

Visiting from Houston Texas for the first time to New Orleans.I m a world traveler to Europe , one place in particular is Paris , France where I had dinner at the Eiffel Tower Restaurant and I must say, today COMMANDER s PALACE in New Orleans out did the restaurant at the Eiffel Tower. This is service at its finest! I feel so humbled to have experienced this amazing southern hospitality! If you know anything about this restaurant you know reservations aren t easy to get. I was extremely excited to get a reservation and have this experience! This experience is definitely one for the books !

A must when in NOLA. Outstanding service. You are greeted by the staff as you walk in. Then we were seated upstairs. You at every time have 4 servers. All very attentive. The food was cooked to perfection . I started with commanders salad. And then did the crusted gulf fish. Ended with p can pie with homemade ice cream. A complete palate satisfaction. Spaced all meals out so you weren t overly stuffed. Will be coming back again!!

Commander's palace is nice dining spot in the Garden District. The look and feel of the restaurant is old worldly but I think this works in its favour. The servers were all great, however time waiting time in between dishes was a little on the slow side. The starter and entrees were quite nice, but what I really enjoyed was a cocktail called the Crescent City Cooler and their strawberry shortcake desert. Both of these are a must-try

Commanders is fine dining at its best. The building has wonderful old New Orleans charm, while the staff is always so pleasant and helpful. Really the staff here is the last of a dying art - their attention to detail is fabulous. The food is on a entirely different level. It is so well prepared and tastes so good. I only had the seafood gumbo, and the classic Commanders salad with chicken this time but it was still so good. Their cauliflower soup, as well as the strawberry shortcake is out of this world. Well done Commanders. I also recommend walking through the back garden. So peaceful and beautiful.

Not as special as you'd think. It's quite cold inside and doesnt have a friendly atmosphere. The air is moist and it is hard to breathe! It's too expensive for the portion sizes, such as the mushroom ravioli, which was shitake mushrooms with a sheet of pasta over it, and it was VERY small. It was the size of one small Chef Boyardee ravioli, and was almost raw pasta. The service was good. They refill you VERY often which almost gets annoying, but at least you never have an empty drink. The porkchop was PHENOMINAL! I highly recommend it if you ever come here. The desert is amazing, no matter what you get. But, I recommend Antoine's Restaurant in the French Quarter HIGHLY OVER THIS. If you haven't seen my review on Antoine's, I suggest you look at it now. It is 100 times better than this place.

So excited to have finally gone here! My husband has wanted to go for years and years so we took a trip to New Orleans. Everything was exceptional; the service, the food, and the drinks. My most favorite part of the meal was the strawberry shortcake (best one I ve ever had) paired with a liquor neither of us had ever tried, Licor 43. It was heaven in my mouth. Highly recommend!

This is specifically about the current pickup options. We got turtle soup, gumbo,quail, and Creole cream cheese cheesecake. The pickup is not by the main entrance but in little shop just a bit closer to Prytania. I can tell you the food is still excellent, but the you'll never appreciate just how good the service is until you try it yourself at home.

A New Orleans classic for sure! Yes, the food and service is impeccable, but one thing I cannot miss when I come here is the coffee! If you've never had chicory coffee, Commander's Palace's will ruin your ability to enjoy coffee almost anywhere else.

Commander's Palace offered elegant, stately, and formal service with real charm. Our waiter's knowledge of the truly exhaustive wine list and his interest in helping us to find the perfect bottle were the best elements of the experience for us. The gumbo here surely sets the standard and was richly delicious. The entrees, however, left quite a lot to be desired. They were well-executed but dull and unimaginative. For the price and reputation, we expected better. We certainly don't regret our visit, but we would not return.

A great place to go to get a taste of old New Orleans hospitality. A little pricey, but great food and service. I dare you to try and get your water glass even close to being half empty.

After all the hooplah surrounding this place we were sorely disappointed. The food was below average to average, certainly not worth the price at all. It's supposed to be "fine dining" but it felt like an average restaurant dressed up pretending to be a fine dining establishment. That being said, the 25 cent martinis were nice of course. The service was good and friendly. The outside of the building is vibrant and eye catching - definitely interesting to look at. I think if the price were lowered to match the quality of food, and they weren't trying to be upscale (something they're not), it would make more sense.

Went for jazz brunch and was not disappointed! Decor was weird, but our servers were awesome. We were never without a drink in our hands the entire 2 hours we were there. Food was fresh and delicious- we did eat almost entirely seafood so not sure if that played a part. The jazz band came around our room 2 full times in the time we were there.

The food is phenomenal. The air condition way too cold we all had to wear our outdoor coats through the meal. The servers were so good. Sense of humor great decorum and just gave us a wonderful experience.

Great service, the staff goes above and beyond to make you feel welcomed. Many famous chefs began at Commander's (ie: Emeril Lagasse, Paul Prudhomme) so expect nothing less than excellent food. The atmoshere is elegant yet jovial whether you join them for lunch, brunch or dinner. If you go on a beautiful day, ask to be seated in their courtyard.

Commander's Palace is a must-do dining experience in NOLA. The restaurant itself is gorgeous, set in the Garden District around a beautiful courtyard. And the food, although the kitchen could very well rest on its laurels after all of these years, is still excellent. The Turtle Soup is the best in town (love to order the 3 soup sample where you can try small cups of every soup on the menu as well), and I've never had a disappointing entree there either. 25 cent martinis are a tradition at Friday lunch.

The shrimp po-boy was simply delicious and filling.

We were served a wonderful three course me by an incredible wait staff. The starters were mostly on the sweet side, but it was a brunch so that's understandable. My entree was cooked perfectly, although after I had finished eating it there was a pretty long delay for the next course.

This is a very nice upscale restaurant, while I was there for brunch they had a very nice roaming live band that took requests. They also serve a very good 3 course brunch with many options, that include great desserts.

Do Not Go Here! This place is downright terrible food and service wise. The only good thing about it is the cheap drinks. I completely left my soup as it was over salted and made not eatable. The waiter did not even bat an eyelash. We both left our $30 dollar entrees completely untouched paid and walked out.y boyfriend plate was cold, not like we but cold!!! We waited for the entrees for at least 40 + minutes. My fish was cold and soo over salted I couldn t even swallow it. This is an over priced tourist trap. Combined with completely inattentive waiters who genuinely don t care how and what they serve you and actually forget what you even ordered. 20 minute after ordering drinks she came up to us and asked if we would like a second round? We never received the first! I genuinely feel like I was robbed. I am from
New York and never would be happen back home. I am not sure what establishment you are running, but if your patrons leave absolutely everything untouched how do you not even ask them if everything is okay? If they would like to change their order? I am appalled. Don t go here and save your hard earned money. The place smells like a toilet!

This is a place that fills me with different emotions. I visit here almost every time I come to the city. The service is always pleasant, with water glasses being refilled frequently (or simply whisked away and replaced if all of the ice has melted). They make every effort to make you feel at home. They explain the menu, several people will say, Welcome as you pass on your way to the table.

Every single time I ve visited, I ve been seated in a room I think of as the Garden Room. You can see lush greenery outside of the 2nd story windows. The light is gentle and pleasant.

It occurred to me on this visit, however, that the waitstaff doesn t seem to be very representative of area demographics.

The food. The soup du jour was a potato, bacon, and Gruyere and was lovely. Very much made me think of good home cooked food. The classic salad was tasty. The local shrimp in grits entree was too thick, slightly bitter, and needed something to add moisture and lightness to it.

The service was friendly and reliable as always.

I am new to fine dining experiences and I loved every bit of it. For $120 getting to experience 8 amazing courses was awesome. And unlike what I was worried about, it was filling. Will highly recommend the chef s menu. The only quirk was their vieux carre. It came shaken, in a martini glass, with sweet vermouth. It tasted good, but different from the vieux carre they serve at Montleone.
