We celebrated my birthday at Commodore s Palace and they did not disappoint in making the occasion a special one! The Turtle Soup was unique and delicious as was my Swordfish. My first Sazerac was memorable and suitably strong. Our Apple compote desert was the perfect birthday cake!
Don t miss this and definitely start your experience with a Hurricane!

This place is a a New Orlean's institution. With so much history and so many world class chefs premiering here throughout time, it's hard to pass it up. The food showcases the best that New Orleans has to offer. The food is rich, the staff is attentive.

This place makes memories. Each dining area is unique and each creates a special memory. Be prepared to be taken care of in a way that only old style, old tradition NoLa can. You will be transported. If there is something you command, this is your palace. Ask and you shall receive. If there is something that isn't correct, simply pull any staff member aside, explain briefly and it will be take care of. I promise.

Have a wonderful time here.

Commander's Palace is known for upscale dinning. They features strolling Jazz Bands and some great food. They also have cheap martinis at lunch!

Try to reserve your seats in the Garden Room. Get your reservation well ahead if there is a major event such as Jazz Fest or Mardi Gras happening.

Turtle Soup is great. But so is everything else I have ever had there. Expect some of the best waitstaff and service in town. Ask for a tour if it isn't too busy. There is a lot of history wrapped into the building and the owning family.

A friendly dressy place. Air conditioning way too cold. The food was salt and sugar, couldn't taste the food, too rich. Southern cuisine?? The wait staff was friendly and helpful. I"ll go back, bring a sweater, and order dessert.

It's been decades since I was there with a friend on vacation. We stopped to make a reservation for dinner. We'd been recommended to the restaurant by my friend's boss. My friend dropped me off to make the reservation for dinner. We were casually dressed because it was September and very hot and humid and we had been sightseeing. I made the reservation for dinner for that evening. As I concluded the reservation, I was informed that we would have to "dress" for dinner. The look and tone were less than gracious...it was insulting. I let it go and went back to find my friend. We had appropriate clothing with us. We had an 8:30 p.m. reservation. We arrived promptly for our reservation and checked in. We were advised there would be a delay in getting seated and told we could wait in the cocktail bar. We waited and waited and finally we were shown to our table...outside in the garden...at the far, far, far end of the garden. This was a very warm, very humid evening and we were attired in dresses, hosiery, and heels being shoved to the back end of hell...all alone to perch on wobbly garden chairs. I kept feeling as though bugs were crawling on me...nylon hose "crawls" in humidity and heat. Well, my friend decided we should make the best of it. We ordered dinner. I don't recall what I ate. All I recall was that I was miserablely uncomfortable. Frankly, the food was pedestrian and definitely forgettable...the price wasn't. I was born and raised in New York and New Jersey. I worked on Park Avenue and 46th Street. I ate at some really great restaurants in the city. The tri-state area has some of the best food in the country. I had breakfast at Brennan's in New Orleans. I was not impressed with either restaurant. Hopefully, if I were to go back to New Orleans today and dine again at these two restaurants, I would be happily surprised with better food and better treatment. It would be nice to see what the INSIDE of the Commander's Palace looks like...where the elite get to eat instead of in the garden...with the bugs, heat and humidity. I'm not holding my breath. It's been DECADES since I was there and I'm still very ANGRY with the less than stellar treatment we received.

Commander's is still the iconic New Orleans restaurant that it always has been. The food is excellent, the service, friendly and impeccable, and the ambience is truly one of our treasures. You can go for the weekend brunch, dinner, or just a lunch, you will never be disappointed.

We order the tasting menu at Commanders Palace. Food was Ok, some good courses, others normal. In the begging probably the timing of seating the tables wasn't organized, because we waited 25 min to have our couvert, water and wine! After ordering the tasting the service was better. I didn't see any sommelier in the restaurant.
For sure not the best food in NOLA.

Great food and atmosphere
The waiter, Troy, acted a bit bored and arrogant though

Food is AMAZING there!! Pork chop, turtle soup and souffle for dessert, and you're set! And seriously, 25 cent martinis, honestly cannot be beat! My boyfriend and I enjoyed ourselves very much there, and will definitely be back when in NOLA!

Absolutely excellent! I enjoyed every minute! The steak was melt in your mouth deliciousness. The Bananas Fosters was made table side and was the best one I've ever had. This probably has to be one of my favorite restaurants ever. It is a must see if you are in New Orleans!

Service was great. All the staff members greeted you with a southern accent albeit a bit cheesy as you are walked in to be seated. There is a dress code but it wasn t enforced from what I seen. Multiple men with denim jeans and sneakers on. Not a big deal but incase you are worried about not being in the fright attire. The turtle soup (not pictured) was the best part of my meal. The other items were fine but nothing special. Drinks were poured with a heavy hand which is always appreciated. If you wanted to go for the experience of being around that environment I would recommend. As far as for going to enjoy dinner there is better choices.

As I had heard of Commander s Palace as a long time restaurant and touristy, I did not have high expectations. I was so wrong! Ambiance in Garden Room, food presentation, service not only warm, friendly but with the utmost professionalism. The food was gorgeous and flavors combined to make you not want to finish the tastes. Strawberry salad devine with spiced pecans, arugula, strawberries. I had a tostada which I would never order but, again the flavors had subtlety , soft and spicy . I hated to finish it. Oh lunch also was complete with the 25 cent martinis which they didn t fudge with. Bravo bravo bravo.

We did a tour of all of the famous name restaurants in New Orleans. We were blown away by the incredible service, perfectly prepared meals, and incredible deserts. Don't forego this place just because it's so famous. It's a hard earned reputation that is very well deserved.

Love this restaurant! My husband and I are local and eat here for every special occasion. We love the food and the atmosphere is wonderful. The balloons around the colorful dining room at brunch are so joyful! Absolutely worth the visit, but be sure to make a reservation a couple weeks in advance(especially if there is a big convention in town).

I to set a reservation for multiple people and it seem like the lady that answered the phone did not want to help or try find out a solution. It seem like when we were on the phone she was rushed and didn t have time for me. Very unfortunate

There are no negative items. The service was great, the food was great, the atmosphere was great. The only negative is the noise volume which makes it a little difficult to converse however you'll be so busy enjoying the taste of the food, you probably won't notice it.

It felt like we jumped into the fancy old South. Food was delicious and we didn't spend as much as we thought we would which was a pleasant surprise. And we didn't skimp out. We had BBQ shrimp on grits (my favourite of all of the dishes), the crawfish beignets, crawfish gnocchi, trio of soups, strawberry shortcake and bread pudding souffle. And my hubby got to enjoy three 25 cent martinis (cause that's enough - as they say on the menu).

This was our thanksgiving dinner for my bf and I.
We arrived 30mins early and got seated within 10mins.
Service was fast and on point.
They has a special which included starter, entree and dessert.
I got turtle soup, quail stuffed corn bread and cheesecake
My hubby got gumbo, filet and apple cobbler.
Being from Ga I'm not used to eating super rich food.
I personally didn't love the soup or my entree but I did enjoy the cheesecake.
My bf isn't a person to eat all his food but he ate every bite.
I did enjoy the buttery garlic bread.
Cost $109.
No alcohol.
It was nice if you love new orleans high flavor foods.

First the disclaimer that I have always heard nothing but good things about CP. However, one night I brought my wife here for her birthday. It took 20 minutes for the waiter to take our drink order and give us menus. An additional 15 to receive said drinks. He said he would be right back. 30 minutes later he took our order. No kidding, 25 minutes later I went into the kitchen to find my waiter or someone to talk to as we had received no updates. They said it was being plated. 15 minutes go by...still nothing. Finally I asked for my food to go. we didnt even get to enjoy our meal. I hope it was just an off night for the staff considering the seating was only at 60-70 percent capacity. I sincerely hope to get the chance to try again with better results.

My wife and I ate here for brunch. The food was delicious and the service was top notch. The food seems a little pricey but the overall experience was good value for money. We spent about 2 hours here over a three course meal and coffee while a three piece jazz band went table to table entertaining guests. Make sure to book a reservation in advance. Dress code is smart casual.

Celebrated my birthday. It was surprise from my husband. I liked my seabass dinner. Didn't care for the boudin side order. Drinks & desserts were very good. Great service... our server was great. I'd visit again.

Had an absolutely fabulous anniversary dinner at Commanders. The food can only be rivaled by the service. You feel like royalty from the second you step foot in the door (actually, before... Free valet). You're guided through the open kitchen to the bar overlooking the lovely patio if you arrive early. You have a team of servers and constant attendants in the dining room. Everyone at the table is served simultaneously. It's like synchronized swimmers are serving you. For real. Our main server was Luke, and he was a gem. Amazing meal from beginning to end. Bananas Foster by the tableside for dessert is like dessert and a show. Watch the documentary Ella Brennan: Commanding the Table before/after you go. So much history!

There isn't anything like it. Never dissapoints. From the food to the ambience to the service it is an A plus all the way through. Commanders - you are a GEM! Thank you for being the highlight of my trip once again.

It was nearly impossible not to have expectations given all the hype but I am glad to report their reputation is well earned. From the moment my wife and I arrived to the moment we left, we were cared for. Rarely have I ever had such a dining experience. The butternut squash bisque was indescribably good. Janell was our server and was PERFECT. She really helped to make the experience even better. If ever we travel back to New Orleans again, we will dine here again because of her.

You can't go wrong with this restaurant... Special occasion, brunch, martini lunch. It does it all. Truly a New Orleans gem. If you ever get a chance, the Chefs table is amazing, but has a 6 month wait typically.

We visited while on vacation from the Los Angeles area and had a truly memorable dining experience. Dishes we enjoyed included a complexly flavored turtle soup, perfectly seasoned pork chop, and unique bread pudding souffle. The service was unparalleled- Jonathan, Jabari and Jason were a fantastic team. Few well-known establishments live up to the hype but this definitely did.

it is always great when even a top place like commander's exceeds expectations, from expertly mixing and matching the wine, appetizers, and entrees, to adjusting the table size at the last minute and still dressing it for a celebration. seafood always perfectly cooked and presented, and bananas foster still fun to see made at your table. ask for the garden room, and may you get local character with your fantastic service.
