Great customer service! I worked at my Aunt's hardware store in Platteville, Wisconsin for 2 years in highschool so I know my hardware. My Aunt is in her 90's and still works there. Clark Devon Hardware Store is the best 1 to 1 helpful service store in the Chicago area. I highly recommend it. Just went there to have a screen repaired in a jiffy! Just love the place....
They have pretty much everything a homeowner needs and then some. Prices are good, and for household cleaning supplies even better than Target and the supermarkets. Checkout is quick and efficient. But the best thing about this store is their staff: these guys are on the ball, they know what I need even when I don't, they know where it is, and they don't try to sell me stuff I don't need.
I was able to get in and out in a fair amount of time and they had everything I neededone of the best little unknown hardware stores I've ever been to

The rental center is terrible. I run a business and they screwed up ever single aspect of the rental. No part of this was good customer service after I called them out. No apology, discount or have they even returned my deposit after five days. No follow up with the issues, nothing. The list goes on and on for this department. I won't use their rental department again. Take some lessons from Home Depot, guys.

I love this controlled chaos of this store. The staff are genuine, friendly and appear to remain employed there for a long time which is always a good sign to me. I had a recent experience with a rented upholstery cleaner and the representative was so helpful with operation and timeline in which I could use the machine. Proud for CDH to be in my neighborhood.
Staff was rude.been here asking for vanity bulbs,told the guy my vanity got 10 bulbs,he said no typically it's 6.i don't think it's his business to know how many i should buy and he does not see my vanity all he has to do is just give me 10 bulbs.he was just lazy to open another box coz there are 4 bulbs in 1 box.
If don't find what you need there you won't find it anywhere else sorry 9 out of ten they are going to have it my only problem is the drive but it's worth it

The go-to place to get your car keys made. The staff is friendly, helpful, and patient. They go to your car to try out the key they made and if it doesn't function as should, they shave it on another machine and try it out. It works. Sure it gets busy and you have to wait in line, but once you are helped you get the best customer service there is. They listen to you to give you the best help and are not focusing on the long lines because it is a hardware store and not a checkout counter in a department store. They also stock rare hard to find items for old buildings. It seems a small store from the outside but it stocks an unimaginable amount of stuff you won't find in big box home improvement and they are also within a walking distance if you need small items.

I love supporting small businesses and Clark-Devon Hardware embodies why I love shopping small. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The reason I took the time to write a review was due the amazing service I've received from Cindy. I came in with a shelf I've had for months and finally felt ready to tackle. She found the most appropriate hardware for me and walked me through how to install it. I messed up with my anchors and placement in my wall and returned two days later for more anchors. This will be my first stop whenever I'm doing home repairs.

Everyone in here is extremely helpful. My neighbor has a pest problem and I'm getting the extra "guests". They stood in the isle with me over 20 minutes explaining what would be the best purchase for me. The definitely have me as a new customer.

Someone said they have decent prices. I asked to copy my car key. They said it's $110. And you don't have to program my keys just move inner electronics to the new case

I find it always difficult to find someone to help me at this store. The staff often appear too busy to help and most recently the paint/varnish department salesman said, 'I don't have time, I'm in the middle of an order'. Not sure if this is an understaffing issue.
This store is well set up for someone who knows exactly what products they need and where they are located. For someone inexperienced, needing any advice or product knowledge, I found the service disappointing and unacceptable. I also have found the kindness/politeness of some of the male employees to be frustrating. I'm a novice in my product knowledge, not a dummy and it's their job to assist me in making an educated purchase. I hope this is something that can be improved with better management and priorities.

If you don't know about Clark Devon then you don't know Jack! They may not have 20 of every weird hardware item, but I swear they have at least one of EVERYTHING, no matter how obscure.
The locksmith ppl could be a whole separate store and still both stores would thrive.
If you are used to Home Depot then your first trip to Clark Devon may be confusing, maze-like or you may just get lost or mesmerized by how many different items they have.
Just spending an hour looking at every aisle you will find answers to problems you never knew you could fix!

Wonderfully helpful and unfailingly kind staff, first and foremost. Whatever bizarre or old-school hardware request you make, they have it. This is a REAL hardware store. (And tiny brown paper bags for screws, too, which I love.) Park north of the building, in their free lot.
I just moved to the neighborhood so I ve been here about 4 times this week, and every single time I ve been helped promptly by very knowledgeable experts, who went out of their way to make sure I had what I needed and even fixed a faucet adapter for me free of charge. This place is great, a hardware store that is focused on customer service.
Where to start from the staff they know their stuff which makes it good. When you need a 30 year old seat washer that's not made anymore they'll have it. Its a wonder no ones made a documentary on them. No bias just been using them for a long time.

I've been coming to the Clark Devon store for 30 years. They are well stocked with everything that you think they should have; plus hard to find items. What separates them from the competition is their knowledgeable staff that is available in every section of the store. The best!
Well stocked, friendly local hardware store. Be careful where you park, the lot bordering Clark Street is pay to park and is vigilantly patrolled- they have a smaller lot around the side that is free, but often pretty full. Their prices can be hit or miss, but they definitely have what you need.
The paint department shook several cans of paint for me without charge. 3 cans were good to use, while the others need to disposed of. Staff is very helpful. Bus accessible, free parking and adjacent metered parking.

Workers thinks they are doing a favor for the customers, most of them with attitude, rude, lack of customers communication, I would not go back even if they are given stuff for free.

Had a couple of keys made here - neither work and they almost got stuck in my locks. You can see that the key isn't quite the same as the copy I gave them. Kinda ridiculous that they had a guy manually cut my key instead of having a machine that copies it in 2018.
