I always feel like a welcome customer in your store by all the employees compared to other types of stores that make me either feel like an intruder or on a deserted wasteland.

They have Everything. Staff is super knowledgable and helpful. Don't do big box when you can stay local and actually be treated like a "customer"

I went and experienced the WORST SERVICE ACCUSED OF STEALING AFTER PURCHASING WITH THE RECEIPT!THEY MADE ME DIG THE TAGS IN THE GARBAGE FOR THE RECEIPT!

More than enough helpful people to guide you and help you for your needs they have enough of everything and anything you can imagine they have great place.

If it wasn't so close, I would never go here and never do unless it's an emergency. Even calling in for a simple question, I was just put on hold 7, yes "7" times to even get to the department I needed. Their service sucks and so do their prices. So much for your "local" hardware store, they are chasing me away to the big box stores.

Been rahabbing a house since February and would not have been possible without them. Some things are pricey, but they fit everything you need in there. And you can bring your dogs. You must ask questions and allow them to help to truly take advantage of this place...that means you smarty pants know it all...let them help you out.

Its old fashioned local hardware store with many smiling faces waiting to help. Plumbing department is great. Things are a little bit on the pricey side tho.

Really helpful staff at Clark-Devon hardware. They've helped me get the right supplies for painting interior walls, doing minor home repairs, and finding the right supplies for some craft projects.

We got a replacement window from them and they did a good job on it.

Great hardware store that stocks a lot of items handy for old buildings in the area. Plus the staff is very helpful.

Best in town. Helpful, knowledgeable staff, great selection, reasonable prices. The only gripe is that anything you need to return leaves you in a glacial line like at the DMV, and there is inevitably someone right in front of you trying to amend their taxes or something. Nothing goes fast in that line, and one has to really ask themselves if they shouldn't just keep the screws that didn't fit or whatever.

Old type hardware store feeling. If you need something to fix or buy and don't know exactly what you're looking for, these people can help you find it. They are really knowledgeable about the hardware related items. I went to Home Depot because it's closer to my house but they did not have a 5" back set for my front entry door, and they even suggested going to Clark and Devon to find it. When I got there, they knew exactly what I needed and offered to show me how to install it with the extension. They still cut keys the old fashion way, which I think is better then with that machine the big retailers have now. Give this hardware store a shot if you need anything, I'm going to start going here even though it's a farther drive for me. You get the knowledge of people that actually know what they are talking about because they've been doing this for a long Time.

everyone is so helpful and so nice. If you have a question they always have the answer. If you can't find something they know where it is. Everyone knows the store like the back of their hand. You don't see customer service like this anymore.

Good place to roll through for supplies or advice on a project

They have everything the big box stores have plus excellent customer service and a neighborhood ambience.

I was pressed for time and needed to duplicate a dozen keys. They had all the types of keys that I needed in stock and my mission was successful. Parking was tricky though, make sure you park in the store's parking lot. The parking spots are narrow and may require some skills to maneuver into especially when the lot is full.

Hardware for all your needs stocked also have employees that know about whatever, courteous fast checkout. A DIY haven

Had to get bed risers everyone was out of them, should have CD Hardware my 1st Choice!

I love this hardware. They're always very helpful and knowledgeable. This place has a very old school feel with a modern technology and know how. You can find most items that's usually hard to get anywhere else. I've been coming here sense the 80s and will continue my business here.

busy,I discover and see something different every time I go in there, I like looking at the little square container of deffected keys, I buy little odds and ends just to go inside.

So much better than going to a big box store like home depot. The staff helped me find exactly what I needed quickly! Support small businesses!

I love this place the prices are better then home depot and when I shop their I feel like I am supporting a mom and pop store.

At least one of the hest hardware stores in chicago. Great plumbing, electical and maintenance supplies. Family owned for generations. A north side institution. If they don't sell it, you don't need it.

You know what is creepy about Clark Devon Hardware???

People greet you, ask if you need help finding something, or give you advice on what needs fixing. I literally have gotten so used to wandering big boxes I have been startled by the great service here.

Unique building. Been around forever, all the parts you could need, tool rental, screen repair, great locksmithing, and prices that are in line with major competitors.

Parking lot is a hassle, but boy is it worth it. Lots of experience and knowledge in this local institution.

I really want to like this place because they have a large selection of items, and have bailed me out when I have an emergency repair to make, etc. However, some of the staff is not very helpful, on top of flat out ignoring customers, and this completely ruins the experience here.

I stopped in after work for two small items, found what I needed quickly, and got in line at the register, waiting for the customer being checked out to finish up. Although there were two other open registers, the two employees standing there didn't care that I was standing there waiting to pay, and proceeded to carry on a conversation for almost ten minutes. By this time, 3 more people had gotten in line, and were waiting behind me, all of us waiting for the guy that was initially being helped at the register when I first got in line. At this point, a third employee joined the ongoing conversation, and now there were 4 people waiting in line, even though two registers were open, and three employees were standing around having a good ol' chin wag. Terrible customer service, I tell you.

Finally, it was my turn, and I checked out quickly, but not without coming to the conclusion that I won't be shopping here again.

Really like the sign on the door advertising the fact that if your a law abiding armed citizen you are not welcomed. Fun fact criminals don't care about your foolish signs.

Excellent I found what I was looking for I love this hardware store because it is well stocked.

Tough times understand but boy customer service in this place it s incredible it seems like everybody hates their jobs like you walk in a funeral house

You fask for Help With item that you need it s like you ve done something wrong to these people and you came to buy things that you need in their store
Actually spend your money here and bring business to them
I will spend my money somewhere else where at least I deserve and get some service (not expecting who knows what ) for my money and stuff I need to buy

My family and I have shopped here for 30+ years because they have a knowledgeable staff and products you can not get at other stores for older house/buildings, and great tool rental. Also, take advantage of their how to classes. Register your email to receive class schedules.

At first glance, this may look like an 'old school' hardware store, but it offers so much more than Home Depot, Lowes, Menards could ever provide. C-D is the only place to go for keys (which work perfectly the 1st time), locks, glass & screen, all kinds of special order parts. But most importantly, they have knowledgeable people who know how to answer yoir questions & explain what you need to successful complete your repair or project!

The manager came in to help us and was very courteous in his approach to finding the exact thing we we're looking for

Just because they're local does not mean higher prices. Between the VERY helpful staff and wide selection, I can always find what I need.

Awsome place. All hardware needs and hard to find items are available. Great place if you have intercom system. They will have everything for repairs.

I have had a few issues here I don't want to go into detail but they didn't compromise to help my emergency and I am ungreatful for that.

I still come here from time to time from the southside. Not many hardware stores as good as this one. Support local!

This is a pretty big store with a lot to choose from. Convenient location with a lot of bus routes passing by. Friendly staff and good prices!

Great customer service, and they stock many hard to find items. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because the mitre box I was looking for cost over $10, no saw included. A very similar (If not the same product) available at the home depot for under $10 with the saw included. Prices on other items seemed fairly competitive however, so this experience could be an anomaly.

Really bad at making cars key they make my key and it doesnt turn and i went and they make another and then it didnt came out it stucks in my car and the manager said you have to fix by yourself and give a locksmiths phone number they should be responsible for what they did wrong not a locksmiths.

Well stocked merchandise because of the neighborhood most tools are behind lock and key. I can always find help when I need it.

Homey and local. Missing some larger selection, but has mostly anything you want. 1/12/2020: I'm updating to 5 stars because of how much more knowledgeable the folks are here compared to the big box stores. I'll buy what I can here.

Devon Clark Hardware is conveniently located, so after breakfast I just walked over. I was looking for spray paint, for one of my many DIY projects. I must say I've never walked in and heard welcome to Clark and Devon Hardware can I help you? or anything like. I also was Not expecting that, but that's okay. parking is convenient so I went in today. I was hoping to go in and get out. However, from previous experience I knew someone had to escort me to the back for the can of spray paint. so I asked this gentleman who was working there. He shouted across the aisle "go in the back where the paint is and someone should be there to help you.". This was obviously very poor customer service that's someone in the upper left hand corner that appears to be the office, immediately corrected him to come and help. This is how I was able to get some assistance. I must say it's rather challenging getting assistance at Clark and Devon Hardware. I'm customer service just plain sucks.

Employees are great! FRIENDLY, HELPFUL, KNOWLEDGEABLE and know where merchandise is located.

May not always have what you need or looking for but goes out of their way to find or see if they are able to assemble what they have in stock to fit your needs.

They also answer questions or check stock availability over the phone.

DEFINITELY recommend this place to anyone.

I always end up in Cole Hardware even if I don't need anything.You can get anything from wood, tools, plants, cleaning supplies and BBQ here.They even have cool little gifts and toys.Everyone is super helpful and will go out of there way to get you what you need.Hands down the best hardware store in the SF!

Clark Devon is a great resource and my mom and dad were looking for DRYLOK paint for a project at an apartment building and found it right here. They are a wealth of knowledge and carry Benjamin Moore as well as Florence mailboxes for commercial buildings. This business gets my highest recommendation.

Staff is ALWAYS HELPFUL and for the first time they didn't have what I needed but referred my to a store that did. I love this store!

Always knowledgable service, well stocked unique hardware items, decent prices. Such a pleasure compared to big box HD or Lowes. They will work with you to find your solutions plus they do glass and window repair, equip rentals, major locksmith service and parts.
This is a jewel on the far north side.
Give me Clark and Devon orCrafty Beaver and I need no other building supply store for any repairs especially of any vintage property.

Very nice staff and lots of things to pick from. A variety of almost everything you can think off. Has rental stuff too. One of the biggest Hardware stores I have been to outside of the big box store. Had help finding what I needed with help of the staff. Highly recommend and a 2 thumbs up.

Reliable, decent layout, good staff, good prices. No reason to go across town when these guys are in your backyard!

Had my window screens messed up after a hurricane so I decided to give this place a shot, luckily instead of 2 promised weeks they called me 4 days later and told me that everything is ready for a pick up.

This place has everything you need to get the job done.

Way tin many guessing games with this hardware store, outdated website and misinform. Customer service is slacking too. I wanted to support the local neighborhood hardware store but they truly disappoint me and I can no longer support this establishment. The worse part about them is the attitude some of their workers have. Don t waste your time!

Been here many times in the 4 years I've lived in Rogers Park/West Rogers Park. Never had a bad experience here. Staff is very nice and helpful.

Had keys made and was assisted by the best lock smith around. Checked the keys when I got home and they all worked perfectly. Devon Hardware might not be a big box store, but if you have a question, they'll have an answer for you and have what you need.

They have basically anything you'd need if something breaks.

Fast and easy always have what I'm looking for or need...

Friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful staff. I have never left the store without an employee asking if I needed help. They have a well stocked store. I love supporting local businesses.

Has what I need. Since the local building maintenance people shop here, they sell much more than just what the big box home stores have.
