I stood in the screw aisle for 10 minutes insisting to myself I could find the right size machine screws to no avail. Cindy in hardware helped me in 5 minutes flat, and I walked out with the right hardware.

Best independent hardware store. They have residential, commercial, and light industrial products. They also have a great repair services for small engines, windows/glass, metal work, etc. Friendly employees!

The well-stocked store is very good, but in the rental department the Aquinas was well-stocked, there is no good assortment, some in very bad condition

Very positive, knowledgeable staff, prompt service. I only went in to grab just quick things for the house - duct tape, staples, and a few minor things. I wandered around for a few minutes to see what exactly this store would carry thinking it's just a local hardware store. I was very surprised to see what a vast array of tools, not your typical standard stocked shelves of selection, but specialty items they have available. To my understanding from one of the staff members, the blonde hair gal with the red rim glasses whom knew damn near if not everything I asked, said if we dont have it we'll get it for you. This seems to be a small store from looking at it from the outside, but is packed with precise organization at your finger tips. Ample parking for literally a quick run in and out as opposed to the other "Big Named" stores.

Knowledgeable friendly staff!! The lady in the electrical aisle was well versed. Knew exactly what I was looking for!

Worst customer service!
Just go to the Home Depot for better price and service.

I first went into this establishment over 40 years ago when they had a small space down the street with the smartest old timers in the business who could find you any unique part you needed. I used them for over 20 years and moved away. Today I was in Chicago helping family members with some painting and ran out of paint. The store closed in 15 minutes I was 10 mins away......I called and spoke to someone in the paint department and gave him the details of the paint I needed. He told me it would be ready when I got there. I arrived and it was sitting on the paint counter already mixed. I thanked him a hundred times and was out the door before they closed. BAM....old time customer service is alive and well at Clark and Devon Hardware. They may have grown 1000 fold but they remain true to the day I walked in there over 40 years ago.

A real great hardware store for older homes and buildings. This part of Chicago has a lot of buildings. For example, I lived in a frame building that is over 100 years old. This hardware store has stuff in it that a modern hardware store would not carry.

Besides carrying older stuff, they have all most people would need for modern homes as well. While the price may not be as competitive as a Home Depot or a Lowe's, the service outweighs the little extra you'll pay.

Best damn hardware this city has ever seen. It s classy and old fashioned. The staff knows everything about building and repair. I ve been shopping here since I was a kid and it s nice to see this place has not changed since then.

They get the second star because they stock a lot of odd plumbing and lock parts that can t be found elsewhere.
Today, I called to see if they had access panels for a plumbing/ceiling repair. I wanted to put up the drywall and mud, then go to get the panel while waiting for the mud to dry. When I called, the guy could tell me that they had them, yes, and he thought that they had 8,12 and 16 sizes, but if I wanted to know the rough-in dimensions, then I would have to come down to the store.

He couldn t walk down to the panels and look. He couldn t go one step further to help a customer.

I ve been in this store....20,30 times. More often than not, I ve left dissatisfied. Clark & Devon Hardware has lazy, entrenched staff. It s almost like they are doing you a favor by helping you. They don t like to work? Do them a favor. GO ELSEWHERE.

One of the best and greatest neighborhood hardware stores in the city. A truly dying breed filled with all sorts of the stuff you need right now and the personal touch and knowledge that you cannot find at the crappy big box stores.

This is an awesome neighborhood hardware store with a large selection and friendly, knowledgeable staff ready to help. I just wish I used tools.

My favorite go to for hardware. Every staff member I've ever spoken to here knows their stuff. No wandering around for ages in giant warehouses. Ask for help, get what you need, be on your way.

Ask for CINDY !! I would be totally lost in there! This place is amazing, but CINDY makes it navigatable. She's very helpful and can think outside of the hardware box!

This place is the best. They have everything you need, an amazingly helpful staff, and the prices are good too. I rented a power tool from them last week, they are very willing to go over how to use it. The service desk can cut glass, screens, anything. I've been using them more than 20 years.
