They think they can send things in the mail threat...

They think they can send things in the mail threatening to shut of service since they can't get in the house to read meter in five months bit i let two guys in to read the meters last month. I have had to call them several times to tell them to have the meter people knock on the door apparently that is a major issue where i live.

This review is about their poor and unreliable electric service. In the last 2 months, my power has gone out completely 4 times and has flashed on 3 different occasions. Each time, it was raining and there was a little wind, but not a bad storm. Well, each time when I called to let them know that I lost power, they never said how long it would take to fix, and they never gave a reason for it. So, the next business day, I sent them an email and called to complain (this most recent time) and got a scripted response saying, "well we cannot guarantee service at all times and there are outages at times" then I said, yeah there are frequent outages on my street and I'm getting tired of it. I truly think there is a bad electric grid here or the equipment has a problem being it goes out when it rains and so frequently. I asked why it went out, and the person had no clue! So, I am writing to the PUCO and another consumer watchdog organization. Their customer service and electric service is horrible. Can someone help and let them know that the power is always going out in the 8000, 8100 and 8200 blocks of Woodruff Road in Anderson Township/Cincinnati, Ohio. Thanks!

If we could give this company zero stars, we would. Sold our previous home 7 years ago and just received a notice that we owe a bill for that place that has sold 3 times since our selling. The most recent owner sold it in April and we received the bill. We called Duke Energy and explained that we have not owned the property since 2013. They still say we owed the final bill since there was a landlord locked agreement from seven years ago. We explained to look at the Hamilton County website for property transfers and they would not. Made SEVERAL calls with no satisfaction. We were ready to do a story on channel 9 news because of our frustration (we no longer owned that property)! After many hours and long searches, we were able to find the person that sold it and had moved to Florida by Facebook and looking thru her old photos she posted from 2 years ago recognizing the kitchen. We sent her a note and she replied right away. She did get in touch with us and we explained the situation to her. She said she called Duke Energy asking for her final bill and she was informed she didn t owe it. Luckily for us, she agreed she owned that bill and sent us a check. Thank you to SZ for owning this with ZERO help from Duke Energy.

These dicklocks don't remove old poles when they replace them with new ones and don't give a damn if the old ones lean or cause your driveway entrance to become tighter.

Edit: Some cockknuckle from Cincinnati Bell told me to phone you about the poles even though they're "supposed" to be responsible for the old pole, but all of their crappy equipment is off the old pole and on the new one now. And here I am with the old pole still leaning restricting a moving truck from using my driveway, quit jerking eachother off and get to the bottom of this!

They moved my bill date WITHOUT asking or notifying me and when I called to have it changed back, they refused. Screw them. I never have these issues with water works or Georgia Power when I lived in the South. I can't wait to move back. Fools.

Duke allowed a stranger to call in and switch my electric service into their name and then turn it off with no warning. Had to spend 4 hrs on the phone to get it turned back on and put back into my name. When I asked how someone could do that they answer was it's company policy to not deny service.

Duke Energy: "Hey, I know - Let's make it as difficult as possible for customers to pay us for stuff we're selling!" Brilliant! Duke Energy seems to do quite well when it comes to "energy delivery," unfortunately they fail miserably in all other aspects of customer service and website development. I have had to call them - literally - each month for the past 8 months to "reset" my password, because whatever foreign IT company gave them the lowest bid can't seem to figure out how to fix the problem. I've used the same p/l for over a decade with Duke, yet here I am calling "Customer Service" to reset the damn thing each and every month. Wonderful.

Horrible disorganized company. Rude customer service reps who have clearly never been in a situation to go without electricity otherwise they would be a little more empathetic about giving people time to get their money scrounged together. Tried to switch a bill in my name after someone moved Out and was told I had to pay their past due balance in addition to my balance and a deposit. Absolutely hate this company they don't provide a service worth all the money they scam out of people. Wish there was someone else to go through.

Here is Duke Energy blocking the street, no detour signs, no indication whatsoever that this street is not passable. Just one more indication that Duke does what they want, when they want. I wouldn't even give them one star but I couldn't see how you could post without doing that. Discrepancy with your bill, too bad; pay it first and then we will talk about it. Resolution to before mentioned discrepancy....too bad we already have your money, haha haha.
You really want to continue to question us? We will drag it out until you lose your sanity. Seems fair.

I would like to Thank Mrs.Pam Smed in the Revue Department at the 4th Street locations in downtown Cincinnati, My utility s where disconnect yesterday at no fault of my own. I was given a voucher from The Hamilton County Department of Humans Services. No pay center would except the payment because it was a voucher. I was told to mail it. However that would have taken 4-7 business day to process. I went and stood outside of the 4th Street location until a nice Employee of Duke walked up. I ask her to deliver the Voucher to Mrs. Smed. She handles the payment from DJFS. Within that hour my payment was process and my utilities where restore. Thank So Much for handle my payment with compassion and speed. Ronda Yarbough

I would give zero stars if I could.
I switched bank accounts and set up automatic billing.
Apparently I typed one number wrong and the payment never went through. Instead of Duke giving me notice that the payment did not go through, they continued to send normal emails with the normal "your monthly statement" or whatever subject line.
I never opened them as thats the point of auto billing - set and forget. One day I looked at my bill out of curiosity and had not paid in several months due the the wrong number. My electric was about to be shut off and I had no idea!!!
Not happy, which I could change companies.

Wow wat can I say this place is horrible I thought it was against the law too be an monopoly we can t call anyone else too get gas this place is a joke I had my gas turned off which is kinda a long story but anyways Thursday I paid everything and for some reason after 8 yrs of me paying them on time I messed up and it got shut off and I had too pay a security deposit idk I guess they needed more of my money scamming money off of people but anyways I paid everything on Thursday and it s Saturday and they refuse too come out and turn my gas on

Moved into new home, smelled gas Duke comes in 10 min to shut off. Pay $2000 to have plumber come out and re do pipes. After it's done Duke says 1 to 3 business days. They come in 2 days and tell me something else has to be fixed before they can check it and turn gas off. Have plumber come back same day and make repair... Call Duke to come back and turn it on, but tell me I have to be rolled over another 1 to 3 business days. Currently 40 degrees out, NO heat, NO hot water and Duke basically says to kick rocks after talking to two Managers... PLEASE someone else open an energy service so I can leave this Monopoly, lazy, non caring company!!!! Anyone! Please!! Takes 10 minutes to shut your gas off, takes a week to turn it back on (hopefully at best)

I switched to paperless billing and have had sever...

I switched to paperless billing and have had several problems on the company website since then. The amounts shown online are incorrect and when I make a payment for the amount shown, the next month I see a notice that I have to pay a late fee of $20.00. and the new amount is wrong again.

This has happened almost every month since I have switched. All I want is to pay my bill, not be in a state of constant confusion, wondering if I paid the correct amount or will receive yet another late payment fee for their mistake.

I am switching back to receiving a paper bill and hope Duke can get the figures corrected. I miss Cinergy and ULH & P.

This company is GREEDY. I had called prior to my move to switch services starting in November. To my surprise, when I received my final bill in December they had billed me for 12 ADDITIONAL days ( I had asked for my services to be off by Nov 10th.) These sharks they have as representatives do not understand basic math, telling me there was only an $8 dollar difference if the service had been disconnected on the 10th instead of the 22nd. Duke has you by the nipples and they know that the only other alternative is not to have services at all. This company is the worst.

In trying to set up service with Duke Energy, they transfer you to "Duke Energy Connections" and try to hard sell you on signing up for Time Warner phone and internet. They kept my wife on the phone (with screaming children in the background) for an unnecessary and extra 25+ minutes. She attempted to end the call (and the sales pitch) 4 times before the pushy and rude sales person acknowledged and let her go.

I hindsight, the gas+electric service setup was probably already complete when they transferred her to the sales person (for Time Warner), but they made it sound like a necessary step. It wasn't. It was just a forced sales pitch.

If I could rate their customer service with 0 Stars I would. Horrendous service every single time I have to deal with them. It was like I had a monotone robot reading off a script on the other line. Awful- can t stand it.

I have had such a terrible experience with Duke. I moved into a small one bedroom apartment and my first bill was like 430 dollars so I called to have my meter read and checked because it is obviously to high. And I had to schedule two time for someone to come and check and they didn't show up either time scheduled and I didn't get a knock or phone that someone was coming when scheduled. And when scheduling it I was very irritated that there is no set time for these, you just pick a day. And its only from 8-5 on a given day. Which for someone like me who is extremely busy I am not home 8 hours during the day to just wait around for someone to come into my house for less than 5 mins. They also don't operate Sundays for readings so I had to go out of my way to somehow clear my schedule to be home for 8 hours or have someone else at my house so someone could come check my meter and no one showed up both times I went through this trouble. Then maybe like a month later someone randomly calls while I am out of the country saying they're going to be there in 20 mins to check my meter???? like okay I am not home. So I had my boyfriend go over there and he didn't come knock on the door or anything or call to let me know he was there. He came saw the outside entrance to basement was locked and left. The reason I had to schedule a reading is because I have an entrance to the basement inside my apartment. Like why on earth would I schedule a reading for something that is outside or in an unlocked basement??? it was so irritating so I had to call them again and have them come back and it was literally less than two minutes and nothing was even said about it he just looked at it and left. It has been ridiculous. And I can not find any email or anything to send in a complaint

Duke came to my street to repair (non-emergency) the gas lines back in April 2014. They never notified me before or during that they were going to dig up my yard or shut off my gas. They replaced part of my gas meter (as well as another neighbor) and turned off my gas, put a lock on it and didn't notify me they turned off my gas. Understandably, they want the homeowner to be onsite when they turned the gas back on, but they did this while I was at work and never put anything on the door. Not knowing the gas was shut off, I wasn't getting any heat from my furnace and called an HVAC company to troubleshoot my aging furnace. That's when I was informed that my gas was shut off. In addition, they did a terrible job fixing the hole in my lawn and left softball sized clay balls on the ground with grass seed on it. No topsoil, nothing. When called to complain about the lawn, they said it was thier contractor and I would be called back in the next few days. Of course, nobody called. How does this company stay in business with this kind of customer support? Oh yea, they have the monopoly.

The customer service I have received from Duke Ene...

The customer service I have received from Duke Energy is absolutely horrendous. I have had continuing issues with your company which came to a head earlier this month when I received a bill that was higher than my mortgage payment only to learn that Duke has been "estimating" my bill for the entire 8 months that I have lived here.

I went ahead and called in regarding that payment, made huge sacrifices and changes in my budget to be able to pay that bill on time, and was assured that the issue with that meter was remedied and that that would not happen again. Today I received a tag on my door stating that someone had issues reading my meter and that I needed to call and reschedule. I did that. The woman I spoke to around noon told me to go home and she would reschedule a service visit for THIS AFTERNOON. I took time off work (UNPAID) to be able to be present for this service call. No one has called. No one showed up.

I then attempted to call in to check to see what the status was on that visit, and I was precluded from choosing any menu options from the call menu, as the menu thinks I have a meter that is read remotely. It took me 20 minutes to find my way to a human being named Eric, who was extremely rude. Eric indicated that he has no idea why I would be told that a service was scheduled for this afternoon, because this is not indicated on the account. He also told me that I could not speak to a supervisor as none were working who could take my call. I left my number, but was told only that a supervisor "might" get back with me in four hours. This will be after I've sat around all afternoon, having taken work off at the direction of the previous Duke Energy employee, for absolutely no reason.

I have never dealt with such unparalleled disregard for customer service. I have been a loyal Duke customer for YEARS, and always pay my bills on time--even when they are unexpectedly over $700 due to Duke's negligence in maintaining the meter's they installed on the properly.

Duke Energy is a pathetic eneegy company. Horrible customer and proiding quality service for their customers. Since they have pretty much complete Monopoly in Cincinnati they can do everything when they feel and if they don't feel like it they can totally not. I wish that we had free energy as we have the technology available to provide each and every American free energy, but heaven for bid we have Duke Energy not profit from all the Poor. So frustrated all I can do is wait and hope the switch is pulled when they get around to it. What a complete shame huge companies have become.

Forgive me for what I'm about to say as I wouldn't normal say stuff like this. But....

Duke has to the most ignorant,unhelpful and incompetent customer service I have ever dealt with! I'm in awe at how unwilling they are to help the customer. 4 different customer service reps today were in negligence of being able to turn on the power after hours for a fee. Even after asked they still told me "no power for you today." Unacceptable Duke!!!
