In the top 5 Mexican dinners I have had ever, inside of continental US.

The bartender Dan explained the history of this 1982 original Tex-mex which has over 100 branches now, I was lucky to start with the original but I will keep an eye out at other Chuy s in the future

Must go if in Austin!!

This is my quick go to spot when I am in the Barton area. The Steak Burrito is my favorite dish. Its spicy and full of flavor. I got the Queso but not really a fan if it. It's watery. Other than that the food is food and its a family atmosphere.

One of the Austin originals, unique Tex Mex with a tribute to Elvis. The funky decor adds to the ambiance.

Try the creamy jalapeno as you scoop chips from the trunk of a car in the bar. The swirled frozen margaritas are the best in town.

Try the Elvis Memorial if you are adventurous, the Chica Boom enchiladas if you like spice, or go simple with fajitas.

The most unique is the potato chip crusted chicken breast topped with green salsa.....Elvis Chicken.

Chuy's is one of my absolute favorite restaurants in Austin, if not my favorite. They have HH every week day from 4-7 pm, with a free salsa+ bar and drink specials. Their chicken tortilla soup is my favorite.

This is a great spot for date night or a big party. Can't say enough good things.

Best family-centric Tex-Mex in the world in my opinion. Try the Boom-Boom Sauce instead of the queso. Creamy jalapeno ranch dressing is dank on the taco salad and the number 6 enchiladas or where it's at

Pretty standard Tex-Mex fair. Decor is fun and interesting. It was super crowded and very loud. Maybe some better people management and some sound dampening would make it a bit more enjoyable.

Pretty decent tex-mex. The cilantro-lime sauce is INCREDIBLE though, get some with your chips. Just a heads up though, they're very strict about carding. Good thing from a management perspective, but a slight bummer when my wife forgot her ID at home.

It's tex mex so it's hard to shine but it's good and an Austin classic. Go there during happy hour, load up on free queso, conquer an Elvis combo, and they'll have to role you out the door. As an insider's tip; order some creamy jalapeno salsa to accompany your chips. It's the equivalent of tex mex ranch and is delicious.

Chuy's is my favorite Austin restaurant. I always get the bean and cheese burrito with deluxe tomatillo sauce. It's also not noticeably changed in aesthetic at least since my first visit circa '96. It's truly one of the very few remaining bastions of the Austin that once was. For me, the magic is still there, even though it gets a little bit too crowded for my liking.
