Amazing restaurant. They have an open chips and salsa bar for when you are waiting for a table. Impeccable service and amazing tex mex. Highly recommended the jalapeno ranch sauce on anything and everything.
Delicious food. Spiciness I can handle, when I normally can't take much. Jalepeno ranch for chips. Can get crowded, but still a good atmosphere. Love the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom enchiladas.
In my opinion, Chuy's is not the best Tex-Mex in Austin, but it is certainly a landmark of the city. Now a nationwide chain, this location was the first. It's a great crowd pleaser for any out of town guests, and all of their locations are uniquely decorated. My recommendations - queso compuesto and tortilla soup.
Classic Austin, can't go wrong with chuys, always a good meal.
Love the Elvis shrine, can't get enough of the creamy jalapeno dip and wish I had all their shirts!
The best, everything I've ever gotten is great here.
Our food and server was great! However, the hostess definitely has an attitude issue. You probably should not be in the service industry if you are going to be upset with a customer kindly requesting a different table than the original one you sat them at. It is very unprofessional to throw the silverware and menus on the table and just walk off. If the manager happens to read this, the hostess I am referencing is currently wearing a grey and white striped shirt and jeans with black shoes. (Nov 17; 12:00)
2 words: Nacho Buffet! Wait maybe 3 words: Free Nacho Buffet!!!
Great food, good prices, a nice rotating special menu based on the day of the week. Fun colorful decor
Good food selection and great customer service. Really crowded at times!
What can I say. Awesome!
The best Tex Mex I have ever eaten!
I ordered the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Enchilada
Awesome! Awesome!
Great Service by Florenzio!!
I was so happy to eat at Chuy's#1. We have been Chuy's fans in San Antonio for many years. The food and service we're all we have come to expect from this wonderful chain, but the place was so noisy that we had to yell to be heard.
Chuy's is one of my favorite two Tex-Mex places. Portion sizes are huge and the food is delicious. Just try not to fill up on the free chips before you get your food. This location does tend to get pretty packed around lunch time, so be sure to arrive around 11:30 if you want to get a table quickly.
Since 1982, classic TexMex. Combo Chile Relleno with Hatch Green Chile sauce
Had to wait for an hour to be seated though it was worth the wait as food tasted yummy.
The quintessential Tex Mex experience. You really can't go wrong with great service, prices, and many locations across Austin.
Best Tex Mex food I have ever eaten. Our waitress wasn't very friendly, but the food was worth it. The bartender gave much better service.
Our favorite for tex mex. Great food, and service. Be sure to try all the different sauces
Awesome fajitas!! Great service. They are very on top of things here.
My favorite salsa in Austin. Love the atmosphere. The Elvis Green Chili Chicken is amazing. It's a great place to walk to during a long day at ACL.
Great decorations and staff
Though
I didn t find it worth it for the quality of food served
Overall ok, but taking into consideration all the other texmex I ve tried in Austin, I won t come back
Tastes...
Just slightly above average for the food. Atmosphere is good. Must try at least once if you like TexMex.
Sure, Tex Mex is pretty similar everywhere. Chuy's is fresher and the service is always adequate.
I normally love this place, but this specific location was garbage today, they allowed some stinky ass "service dog" run around and disturb people eating, and then the waiter refused to give me a cup of queso during their freebie happy hour, cuz apparently it's a "self-serve" queso bar...then the waiter said if I didn't feel like walking up and down the steps to the queso bar, it was gonna be like a $2 charge for queso!! Dont waste your time or money
Chuy's happy hour cannot be beat! The margaritas are only about $3 and there is a free nacho bar. The only things is trying to find seating. It's such a popular place, that it can fill up pretty fast. However, I continue to go back time and time again because it's a deal that just cannot be beat. They sometimes have new margarita flavors at random times which keeps it interesting. They also celebrate Elvis Presley's birthday. The time that I went, they had an awesome impersonator, a huge birthday cake for all customers, and Elvis themed margarita cups that you could take home.
I love coming to this Chuy's after a long summer day at Barton Springs! The food is traditional Tex Mex but the decor makes it an Austin must-have. Strong margaritas too!
It's a funky little place. Excellent Tex-Mex food. They have my favorite salsa in Austin. It's a bit more acidic than most places (lime juice?), with just the right amount of pepper. Anyway, you won't be disappointed with the chips and salsa here. The rest of the menu is good too.
Great [large] margaritas and drinks at good prices! The stuffed avocado special is also delicious. Great traditional Austin Tex-Mex spot!
The original Chuys. The food is great and the place is eclectic. They help keep Austin weird. The macho burrito with Hatch green chili sauce is very flavorful.
I ve been to chuys more times than I can count. I ve been going to this exact chuys since I was a kid and while yes the environment is fun and we always have a great time and eat a lot, there s only 1 problem and it s a big one. They serve Tex-Mex but it s way too Tex and not enough Mex. I ve tried just about everything on the menu too (Ha I m a regular) but it s all so bland, they need to spice things up a bit. Again we always have a good time and the drink menu is probably better than the food menu. Good times drinks and eats just spice it up a bit.
Pretty good food!!! The tortillas are some of the best ice tasted at a restaurant!
Free nacho bar during happy hour and some good ritas. Do it.
AUTHENTIC TEX-MEX & ADULT BEVERAGE'S !!! EVERYTHING ON THE MENU IS VERY TASTY & SATISFIE'S THE TEX-MEX CRAVING IN US !!! AL'SO, BE SURE TO CATCH CHUY'S HAPPY HOUR SPECIAL'S, MONDAY-FRIDAY, 4PM-7PM !!!
best tx med I've had in a long while. yummy food, yummy margarita, Chile rellanos are to die for. mmmm mm. Great customer service too.
Chuy's is on my list for of top Tex Mex restaurants. I'm hungry even thinking about it. The food is always to die for and the staff is usually friendly. The only problem I have is the wait but it's worth it. And seriously, what good place isn't packed? Great happy hour is always a plus. Definitely going back...maybe even today.
Went with friends was a bit crowded as expected but overall had a great time and will definitely return!
Meal cooked to order, energetic staff, I enjoyed my stay.
I had there half and half fajitas every thing was good
their food is delicious, a really cool menu, jalapeno ranch!!, and the Barton Springs location is the coolest one. Only complaint is that when I ordered their delicious mexican cobb salad to go I also ordered a $7 guacamole and i swear the guac could not have even been 2 tbsps.... I felt jipped as I ate my delicious salad.
Great food, great staff, eat a basket of chips and this combination plate and your toast
If you want only 2 main choices of Mexican food #1 enchiladas, #2 Burritos oh and salads. Bright side- ambiance and unlimited nacho bar. OK not might top choice for Mexican
Chuy's is good but not anything to rave about. Their atmosphere is cool if you are looking to hangout.
Our favorite tex-mex in Austin! Great food, drinks, and prices :)
Value for your money. Amazing food at affordable price. A true austin icon. True consistency is quality of food.
They were slammed and still rocked our large party thanks bunches
Not the cleanest of the Chuy's. Also just nothing special that you can't get at any run of the mill Mexican place. Food was fine, prices were good, and the staff is nice.
This location's idea of patio dining is to put a couple of tables in a parking spot. Pretty lousy ambiance on the "patio." Moving our dining inside, there was a generous happy hour nacho bar and reasonably priced margaritas. The chips and salsa were good. I'd go here again, but not with a dog and only if I didn't feel like driving farther for better food.
Love Chuys! Mexican Martinis, Mexican Cobb Salad and tortilla soup. Yum!
I love Chuys. I usually eat at the North location on Research Blvd (couldn't find that one on here to review, but it is fabulous), and have also eaten at this location. The food is great - baja texmex and very tasty. Decor is funky and fun and the waitstaff is almost always friendly and fun. Chuys is one of my favorite places for TexMex and I'd recommend them to anyone who likes it.
So good! I had a 50/50 frozen margarita with strawberry and black berry, which was delicious and made with real fruit! My husband got the frozen lime and said it was good - ee both got "floaters" on top of our margs for only $1 each (I think it's a Friday special). Chips and salsa are good...ask for the jalapeno cream sauce. We got the special, enchiladas with an avocado cream sauce (plus rice and beans). It was so so good and I wasn't even hungry to start with. Now we're stuffed and it was less than $30!
Good food. I wouldn't say anything bad about the food, but finding parking is really difficult.
Food: Tasty and good for small group meals
Parking: Limited and rough (caution for vehicles with low clearance)
A lot of Tex Mex places are the same in terms of quality/decor. Chuy's has a unique character that's a lot of fun and the food is above par. Even the chips and salsa are better than most Tex Mex places.I recommend the chicken taco salad and chicken enchiladas (chicka chicka boom boom)
One of the best TexMex Restaurants. It is very near to Barton's Spring Pool and we were expecting it to be average. But the place is one of the best. They have their very own specialities. Should be a must visit if you are around. I still crave for the food they served.
A must have when visiting Austin and getting Tex-Mex. The queso compuesto is a must have with the unlimited chips and salsa that they give you. You can also help yourself to chips and salsa...there's one station by the bathroom on the lower level. I ordered the stacked enchiladas and that was just ok. It's pulled chicken breast between blue corn tortillas and chile Verde. Rice and beans were meh. Probably just ordered the wrong thing this time. Parking is available in the back but can be hard to find during the lunch crowd
