BEST happy hour ever!! FREE beef nachos with unlimited refills! GREATED decor in town ever! depending on the waiter: service can varied. But our waiter offer everyone FREE japleno ranch sauce, and FREE kid pops for even the adults. We gave him a 25% tip.
What fun we've Always done, going to Chewy's !! They're nice. Make you happy you came, feel like Family -))
We were biking downtown around the lake. This was a convenient place for lunch. It was quite busy but we were seated right away and our food came out quickly. Free chips and (really good) salsa. I had a wild burrito. It was okay. It was heavy on the flour tortilla and light on the meat. There are also a bunch of food trucks next door if you want to try something different.
Called an order in to pick up for my office for lunch. At 12:06 they said it would be ready in 20-25 minutes. Arrive 20 minutes later, received half the order and had to sit for another 30 minutes before last bag was ready. Didn t leave until 1:00 with food sitting for 30 minutes.... cold is how they serve your Togo orders at chuys, why they couldnt wait to bring food out until you have everything in order is beyond me. Such an easy solution for a customer who just spent 170.00. No apology, no courtesy, no updates, nothing... Very upset about cold fajitas, who wouldn t be! Come here for drinks but don t expect food to be served in a conventional or reasonable fashion.
Good food! We left so stuffed, we were too full to do the activities we had planned for afterwards!
Have been coming here for years! And will keep coming back! Great Tex-Mex Comida! The thing I like the most is the consistency. The flautas I had when I was 10... taste the same now as they did then. The service is always fast and good. The restaurant gets super packed so expect a wait (though usually a short one) and a lout atmosphere, it gets super loud. Great place for some hearty food!
My T shirt collection grows and so does my waistline from the fantastic food from this Austin landmark!
We go to Chuy's all the time at several different locations. The food is consistently good across all locations and you get large portions for the price. Get creamy jalapeno dip with your chips....
Great Experience dining here and strongly recommend the Tres Leche Cake
i liked there food at chuy's. the decore was very unique to the restaurant. the service was phenomenal and helped to fast.
Weirdest employees ever. Service is slow. Food is good eh . Very wanna be Mexican
No complaints ever. More than anything, the creamy jalepeno is the best
OK now I was told this place was good and I figured for how busy it gets it would be but I was disappointed with my food. I ordered the Green Chile Enchiladas which came highly recommended but was not impressed. Everyone at my table kinda of had the same response when we talked about the food after words. Note we all got similar items except 1 person who liked what they got that was different.
I will say this place has an amazing presentation and the service was great, I will have to try it again to see if my review needs edited. Until that time i cant say I recommend this place.
If you have visited a franchise, you must visit the original!
The management here earned a great review. After my vegan burrito order was botched by the kitchen, the management visited my table a few times, and gave me half price on that entree. The food was so delicious and worth the wait. After having a filling vegan meal and enjoying loads of complementary light yellow corn chips and salsa fresca (probably the best salsa anywhere, a mild salty-limy fresh pico) I ordered on of their specialty margueritas. They go light on the booze and heavy on fun flavor. Another great perk of this location is how close it is to Barton Springs. We walked there in 15 minutes from the pool gate. It was about 1 pm but the seated us right away.
Our server Trek was awesome, easy going, knowledgeable and educated. The food was way better than I expected and we left super happy and full. Will definitely be going here again.
Chuy s always has overall pretty good food! Tonight didn t disappoint. It was pretty crowded and our server was pretty busy, but the food was delicious (tacos), and the margs were great, especially at Haply Hour.
I don't like that they won't seat you until your entire party is there. Otherwise, good, consistently prepared burritos!
The service is always awesome and on point!
Who doesn't love tex mex???
Always great food and service. My favorite location Barton Springs Rd location.
This a great visit. I came in off the street from work, tired and hot. The manager was awesome! I sat at the bar and Katz, he was awesome too! I received excellent service. I had the Mexican Cobb salad, which was delicious!
First, I love the food here when they function properly but the last two times I ve ordered take out from here they have messed up our order. The first time they did not include tortillas in our combo for two, and I had to drive all the way back to get it. The second time, with the same Combo for two, they only gave us two tortillas and the meat was super cold upon getting it. I was unable to go back and get it and was not able to get a refund of any kind despite not having what I ordered. Super disappointed.
Great enchiladas and fresh salsa, waiter was very attentive
I ve been coming here for 20 years and I love the authentic food, style and location of the original Chuys. Fabulous food and staff and omg those margaritas!!!
Great food, great service, quick to be seated. Nice atmosphere if you don't mind being cramped in a bit.
For Tex Mex, this is by far pretty savory food. I would definitely recommend trying out the different quesos! If you are looking for a more traditional Mexican restaurant, this is not the most appropriate or authentic place to go in Austin.
Overvharged and under-delivered experience. We ate there yesterday for the first time. Food was good but they charged us $20 for a Margarita (which was actually good but incorrectly priced) and the manager agreed to return the portion of that item due to a pricing error on their end. However, I just saw on the bank statement that he took that extra money from my card vs. crediting me. I am going to dispute this with the bank. Watch your receipt closey because it seems they overcharge and it is not easy to have this fixed.
An Austin original with a very well deserved reputation. Incredibly great Tex-Mex. Many unique recipies, amazing service even when the line is out the door...even to the people in line.
It's a happy place. Pure Austin, Tx
i can eat here any time of day and leave happy. the creamy jalapeno dip is amazing
Not very good. On par with del taco! Chips and salsa was tasty though and service great
One of the best Tex-Mex restaurants!! Always my fav place to eat at
Great menu! Highly recommend it. Ask for the jalapeno ranch dip!
Free nachos and cheap drinks.. this place has a fantastic happy hour thats perfect for a post work hangout spot. The food can be hit or miss but definitely more hit than miss though. do yourself a favor and get a margarita!!!!
Decent food, but they are SOOO SLOW!! SO SO SO SLOW!
The food is wonderful, especially if you are in need of New Mexico green chili. The variety is good. For dinner there is usually a wait, but it is not bad since you get to help yourself to the free salsa bar while you wait. I have always received great service too.
Love the atmosphere here! And the food is great. Definitely recommend this place!
Excellent food with huge portions. The best salsa ever.
Great Mexican food at great prices. Can be busy and no reservations, but worth it!
Nothing beats the creamy jalapeno sauce. The atmosphere is fun and the service is awesome considering how busy it can get.
Katz, the bartender, was friendly, attentive, and fast. Thanks!
The vegetable enchiladas (w/ no cheese) were amazing. I don t know what bread they use, but it reminds me of teff from Ethiopian cuisine, and it was incredibly fluffy. The veggies inside were cooked perfectly, and the green chili rice, charro beans, and side salad just brought it all together. On top of happy hour margaritas and nacho bar, I can firmly say I could not eat a single thing more. I loved coming here. The eclectic 50s/Elvis interior was a cherry on top for a unique experience.
Also, my friend got a bigger than your head burrito , and it definitely lived up to the name.
The original chuys was amazing! The waitress was quick and great. Drinks and the nacho bar were ever better! Highly recommend going
Love it. The chaos and food. So good. Jalepeno ranch. Soooo good
Always great service and food. Stephanie was a great server on the recent visit.
Our waitress was wonderful. She steered us toward appropriate menu items based on our unique requirements. She allowed us to adjust items and took good care of my 90 year old mother in law.
Awesome place accepted when it was time for us to start eating that hostess had forgotten to give us our silverware as she sent us down
I love this place especially creamy jalapeno dip. I pour it over everything.
It's always amazing here. From the Margs to the Tacos to the exceptional staff!
Yummy combo number 1. I almost bought a shirt. The place has some nice character for sure.
Too crowded and busy restrooms need to be clean but more often and reserved only for the handicapped
Two words: CRACK DIP. That, a margarita, some salsa and chips, and that's like a Sunday you'll soon think "God, why did I do that?" but then three months later, will totally do it again.
Simply amazing!! Seriously get a margarita, Baja tacos and enjoy.
What a bad place. Bad service, dry, bland food. Seriously, Tex Mex is not rocket science. Never again.
As someone who lives in Dallas the past couple years. I love Chuy's. So when my sister and bro in law were going to Austin for vacation. I made sure we hit a Chuy's for dinner one night while we were there. Overall, it was the same great food I have come to expect. It did look like the menu had shrunk a bit with COVID and was a bit disappointed they wouldn't make a cheese Quesadilla for my 2 year old nephew. Outside of that is was great.
So delicious! Just had margarita and nachos. Friendly service and the best stop before Blues on the Green!
