Loungy restaurant in the buzzy area of Soho, the menu offers an interesting blend of Asian and Peruvian recipes with a good quality-price ratio. If you are looking for a vibrant atmosphere the Ground Floor should definitely be your choice, although it can be quite loud and crowded on a particularly busy nights. Good options also for vegetarians and for customers who could be looking just for a drink and some exotic food.

I really enjoyed the food here. A creative and non-pretentious fusion of Peruvian and Japanese seems to work nicely, although some dishes were hit and miss. Name means 'wait a bit', which is a tad weird.

Seemed lovely but steer clear if you have an allergy.
I went with a group of friends on a Friday evening. I have a gluten allergy which is never usually a problem and I don t really worry about eating out as most places can tweek and sort something. The one thing I hate about having an allergy is creating attention, drama or standing out from everyone else. I don t want to be seen as a pain to go out to dinner with. The chief really attentive and rattled off what he was going to prepare for me and I felt excited as it seemed extensive and I was starving. Plates and plates of food arrived over the next couple of hours but none of it I could eat. I was given two small mouthfuls of starter dish, some veg on a little plate and a square piece of fish. While everyone tucked in to an expansive array of food I sat there most of the evening without. It was embarrassing and it made my friends uncomfortable too. I hate drawing attention. Truly my worst nightmare. I kept telling everyone it was fine as didnt want to spoil everyone s evening. I felt sorry for the chief. I think he tried but they were out of their depth as the dishes are many all coated in sauces and they could not provide alternatives. They gave me a nice dessert but I would never return or want to be in a situation like that again and would advise anyone with a serious allergy to avoid. Everyone else seemed to really enjoy their food though.......although they said the service was slow. There was no doubt of the venues popularity and the staff work hard to do their best.

Brunch service was a bit of a mess but the food tasted nice when it did finally arrive. The table received all of their starters and mains at different times, some of the group received their mains first and the starters 30 minutes after the mains had been finished because they couldn't handle the number of orders coming in. To top it off, they charged for an extra item by mistake on the receipt but were quick to correct it when we pointed it out.

Nice food and service ok overall but had to wait an extremely long time for some dishes with no apology. Was very hard to get a waiters attention and the waiting time ruined the experience.
Very loud and bustling environment. Nice decor and seating.

The food in this place is great. I highly recommend it. But. When calling them, their automated system is pretty crap, rings for about 3 or 4 rings then suggests you leave a message to which you (maybe) will get a reply. As tends to be the case in the places you want to give 5 *s to London, there's always a service issue to ruin a otherwise great place. Would be a 5 for me otherwise.

Ok so... we went on a CODE app deal for the Harajuku brunch. When we arrived the music was funky, the girls and boys were walking around in Japanese Costume and the overall vibe was quite fun & upbeat. Different to the "smashed avo & Feta" Japanese style that we expected.

Food was good. Wouldn't have felt like value at full price (we just ate, and didnt add the additional unlimited cocktails) but you can easily buy into the vibe and the venue and staff were good!

It's a a shame a lovely place but the entire time we were there having drinks 4 tables around us got table service. There drinks were brought over to them followed by the bill. Unfortunately when I asked I was refused not sure what was so different about us but definitely ruined the experience here.

Have been here several times. Great venue with really cool decor and buzzy atmosphere. Food is fantastic, lots of detail goes into the preparation and presentation and it tastes very good. The service is also tip top. Only negative is that it does get very busy especially at weekends and can feel a little pretentious on occasion.

Awfull service manager said she would look for a table for our party, she made no attempt to do so. After this we enquired with a waiter, kindly who checked with the same manager who again made no effort to look.

Avoid at all costs so many better places in the area.

Where do I start?? This place for me is a perfect Friday night. Upon entering the atmosphere is great, interesting lighting, welcoming staff who take your coats (very practical in my opinion as they can get in the way when put on the backs of chairs) and the food!!! Oh my, the wagu beef melts in your mouth and the sushi is very very refreshing, doesn't leave you feeling bloated or overly full. I will come here again and again!

Nice ambient. The food is ok. Nothing special. Like many of these venues the deco and the atmosphere is more important than the food. The bar scene is cook and the music is fantastic.

The food is jot exactly peruvian but the tostadas are great.

Go to celebrate rather than have a good meal.

We had the lunch menu, my colleagues had the be to box (it looked amazing) and I had the teriyaki chicken, it was extremely well made but the portions are slightly small. The cocktails were lovely!

This is a rather stylish place in the heart of Soho that offers an extremely pleasant experience with a wonderful wine list and crisp fresh food with a twist.
The staff have been professional from the outset and there has never been a problem with finding a space to sit and enjoy watching both the customers and the passers-by outside.
We use it as a treat every so often a few times a year but it's equally a place you could visit every week or for a one-off special occasion

This is an experience not to be missed! Me and my husband came to have a dinner and received an incredible service. Katerina, our waitress, made our night. She explained the menu told as the most popular dishes and was very attentive and friendly. Highly recommend the black cod, octopus and Nikkei sashimi. We never had this kind of fussion food before but we will definitely come back!

Food was good but overpriced. They served us luke warm white wine and when we complained rather than replacing or offering an alternative, we were told the best they could do was an ice cube. Very poor service for an expensive restaurant. Very disappointed. I won t be returning in a hurry.

We ve waited for the food for about 1 hour. First dish arrived after 50 minutes and the second one arrived only after a reminder (after about 1 hour).
They didn t clean the table. And forgot to bring soy sauce! At a Japanese restaurant? We had to ask twice. The place looks stylish inside and the food was ok.

Reasonably busy restaurant but we still got a spot at the bar. Which is the most fascinating place in the restaurant afterwards. You are at arm's length from the chefs who make beautiful works of art. Delicious eaten. Highly recommended if you are in London.

Setting is quite nice, servers were okay. The food was okay too, some weird mixtures of flavours, very acidic but might be a South American flavour that I am not used to. The prawn tempura is not tempura and the sauce was way too overpowering and removed the crispiness of the prawn. The black cod though was delicious. All round a bit above average

Excellent food. Great setting and lighting. I thoroughly recommend the sharer menus albeit the higher price. Food comes quickly and is a fantastic range of different cuisines and tastes outstanding. I recommend sharer menu 2!

Made a reservation here for some friends visiting from LA. Have been here before with my bf twice before and thought my guests would like it too. While we were seated, there were 5 different staff members taking our orders for drinks and food - zero consistency. We ordered 5 starters to share between four people, which were embarrassing to say the least. The plates to share were minimal, drinks were also overpriced and heavily watered down. We ordered mains and mine arrived with the starters so I sat there waiting for the rest to arrive, half an hour late. Totally underwhelmed and disappointed by the service, minimal portions and overall experience. Third time lucky and won't be returning to this place at all, 'much ado about nothing' is the best way to describe it.

Great first time experience here, staff were super friendly and accommodating. We were able to move tables when we requested and Brian who was serving us made our time there comfortable and enjoyable. The food and cocktails were both very good, well presented and portions are a good size.

Food is amazing and the vibe is great. Good date venue. Only down side is the table service which occasionally gets things wrong though unsurprising as the place is busy. The yellow tail is incredible and the lobster is a favourite too.

Amazing food, great service. We had an lovely dinner, however the table was so excited it couldn't stop shaking! I discovered that edammame is actually quite tasty when salted and sweet potato can actually be made into crisps!

Dining at Chotto Matte is a wonderful experience however, posibbly due to the time we came it did feel a bit loud at time with the music overshadowing our conversations.

However on to the the main show some of the most stand out dishes were-
-The Spicy Tuna Roll - The tuna Melts in your mouth with amazing flavour combinations.
-The Asada Beef with potato Jus was something very special and highly recommended.
- Gyozas Chicken and prawn- Surprising one of the best i've ever had, freshly prepared the flavours explode in your mouth with a delight.
-Dragon Roll- This is a staple for every Japanese resturant I go to. What i loved here is that every bite was perfectly crafted with balanced flavours between the avocado, salmon and especially the unagi sauce !

Overall what I loved from Chotto Matte is that not only is it a beautiful place to dine in, but its complimented by accommodating staff that cater to your every need for an memorable experience.

We had a reservation for two and in the end we were four. Even though the place was crazily busy they managed to fit us in, and always with a smile.
Food and cocktails were delicious but portions are very small, so don't come here and expect to leave pretty full, unless you are willing to pay the (not so cheap) bill.
