Seemed lovely but steer clear if you have an allergy.
I went with a group of friends on a Friday evening. I have a gluten allergy which is never usually a problem and I don t really worry about eating out as most places can tweek and sort something. The one thing I hate about having an allergy is creating attention, drama or standing out from everyone else. I don t want to be seen as a pain to go out to dinner with. The chief really attentive and rattled off what he was going to prepare for me and I felt excited as it seemed extensive and I was starving. Plates and plates of food arrived over the next couple of hours but none of it I could eat. I was given two small mouthfuls of starter dish, some veg on a little plate and a square piece of fish. While everyone tucked in to an expansive array of food I sat there most of the evening without. It was embarrassing and it made my friends uncomfortable too. I hate drawing attention. Truly my worst nightmare. I kept telling everyone it was fine as didnt want to spoil everyone s evening. I felt sorry for the chief. I think he tried but they were out of their depth as the dishes are many all coated in sauces and they could not provide alternatives. They gave me a nice dessert but I would never return or want to be in a situation like that again and would advise anyone with a serious allergy to avoid. Everyone else seemed to really enjoy their food though.......although they said the service was slow. There was no doubt of the venues popularity and the staff work hard to do their best.
