One of my favourite restaurants in London! Amazing food and nice staff.

We had a really great time here. Super friendly bartender and the drinks were excellent. I recommend just sitting at the bar and watching them mix the drinks. It is really entertaining!

The quality of food doesn t match the prices and the ambience is dented by the large number of people and noise

Expensive restaurant but worth the price. Trendy place and very very very nice food. Fusion between japanese and peruvien food.
The Bar is Amazing... Try the "Holy water" cocktail... Service is not very very good but ok.

Is it a sushi place? Is it a Mexican food place? Very confusing and outrageously expensive. Plus the seating means that if you are on a round table you will get bumped by staff and guests the whole night. Will never be going here again as a matter of principle.
PS: the wash basin is too close to the taps in the toilet. Literally everything from the menu to the infrastructure is a design fail.

Sushi was okay but not as good as anticipated. Thumping music made conversation impossible and makes the Chotto Matte feel cheap. Also makes attracting the (very nice) staff difficult. A disappointing experience.

Great food and attentive service..well done! Our 4 and 5 yr old thought you toilets were amazing with day glo art!!

Been here a couple of times now and it never disappoints. Great selection of dishes, interesting cocktail menu and really helpful and friendly staff. On some tables I find the seating a little uncomfortable but that's a small price to pay for an otherwise amazing place.

Just do it!
Is worth every penny. Service might help a bit, but the food is really worth the price.

Terrible Customer Service - waited 2 hours for not all of the set menu to be delivered:
- Lengthy Waits for the food
- Charged drinks multiple times despite not being delivered to the customer
- Manager was dismissive when complained
- Waiter spilled food on one of the guests and did not apologise, further promised dry cleaning.

I've had a meeting with the Operations Director whom promised further refund of the optional service charge and additional discount for the worst customer service in london, however following 2 week wait I am yet to receive any confirmation.

Food was mediocre, service was mediocre, bathrooms smelled awful, food is overpriced. The couch seats in the back are also very uncomfortable.
The best part was the guy who kept our waters refilled because he was on top of it! Cool atmosphere in the place but I will not be back.

absolutely shocking service led to us leaving after pre dinner drinks. Pretentious and doesn't have the service to back it up. Would not go again

Terrible service, rude staff. No one wanted to give us our food or take responsibility for serving us. We had to beg them to bring each course. They brought us the wrong wine twice, an hour after ordering, and having reminded them 5 times! After overcharging us for the wrong wine, the manager couldn't even give us a refund until the following day. It was a nightmare!

Excellent black cod. And thats coming from someone who doesnt like sea food. They also have these small grilled peppers which i also recommend. Sushi etc was also good but nothing stand out apart from the above.

This is now a 5 star from us.
We returned to Chotto Matte on Saturday evening and they exceeded our expectations.
From the moment we walked in, everyone was very welcoming including the security staff. The wait for our table was mininmal and we thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and music. The service was impeccable. Our waitress Lenka was a delight and very knowledgable regarding the menu.
We ordered a wide selection of sharing dishes and the service was impeccable and the food was delicious. The manager on duty was also very professional and added to our enjoyment of the whole evening.
I have visited some establishments in London where the service and food have deteriorated over the years. For Chotto Matte London, they have managed to sustain or possibly even improve on the overall experience and still deliver top quality service and food. We look forward to our next visit.

Expensive for what it is, but a nice interior. Loads of different varieties of spirits on the menu, but terrible list of beers, wine and cider. Don't be taken in by the pretty lights unless.

Really disappointed
Friends and I ate here last night. Portions are tiny. I waited at least 30 mins between each dish. The staff were rude and my final dish came after two hours so I made a complaint. The manager took off service and the dish that arrived late. I worked in a restaurant for many years and if my guest experienced this bad service I would take 50% off the total bill to avoid negative feedback.
It's not good enough. If a fuss is going to be made by the staff about seating arrangements and closing of the windows on the balcony, the same fuss should be put in to providing guests with a good service and delivering plates with no more than ten minutes between each dish or all that the same time. My friend had finished his two dishes a full one hour before I got near my mains??? Only one of my friends received his dishes in good time. The rest of us were laughing at how bad the service was. This event ruined my evening out and. When I made the complaint having waited two hours the dish that was missing arrived in less than 5 minutes which shows that if attention is being paid service can be delivered. The food is very tasty. But I wont be coming back here and neither will my friends.

Been twice, wonderful sushi. Much recommend the 4 piece flamed Aburi which was superb. Inventive sushi with a great variety of fish. Definitely deserve a 4* Google Rank, 3.8* doesn't do this place justice.

The food was great. Highly recommend the blackened cod. Our waitress Eileen (apologies for the spelling) took very good care of us.
The lack of five stars is down to two points.
1. The length if time between dishes. There were some points when there was nothing on the table.
2. The state of the toilets. Two stalls in the ladies were non functioning and you think that they could invest in clearer occupancy signs.

Been to Chotto Matte a few times and the quality today was rather appalling all around. The receptionists were quite condescending when my brother, former manager at a competition restaurant in Marylebone, mentioned a hospitality discount code those working in the industry get. Although the restaurant was empty they repeated that we would only have 1.5h there, insinuating we might want to spend the day. Because we had confused one of the items that came to our table (we didn't recognise it as what we had ordered, but all clarified kept it), when I said the calamari tasted like pork the waitress, after confessing it's all fried in the same oil, insinuated perhaps we were imagining the flavour, quite literally, after speaking to her manager - who by the way said would come to the table to speak to us about it and never bothered. Besides, the sofa type seats were pretty dirty and the toilet was pretty dirty too. So the two stars go to the good cocktails and to the lovely young girls who cleared the table and took out payment. Everything else was shockingly poor and I'll not be going back there.

Was looking for late night drinking, was let in here, had decent beer at decent prices, don't go to garlic shots...unless you like garlic and shots.

Delicious fusion food and cocktails! The sushis and ceviche were amazing!

We went for a family birthday celebration. Food was fusion, interesting and expensive. If you are hungry it can clean up your wallet pretty fast. Definitely a grown up place not for kids. My young child did not appreciate the buzzing, noisy, playful, OTT atmosphere but the adults love the buzz. You go there for the buzz not the food. Cocktails are heaven.

Very nice restaurant in a very central location. Finally we managed to try the Nikkei cuisine which particularly convinced us. The chiken miso was the best chicken I have ever eaten!

We attended tonight. We liked the food - it was great. However, we ended up having 2 tables of 5. We knew that all 10 of us could not be seated together. Thus, we asked for both tables of 5 to be seated near one another . We arrived to the restaurant, and despite our request, 1 of the tables was seated upstairs, and another was downstairs. Both tables had free tables around us, so we asked if one of our tables could be moved to be near one other. However, despite there being opportunity to do so, the restaurant refused. We are THOROUGHLY disappointed by the unaccomodatinf attitude of the restaurant.

Had tasting menu, they just brought the food out without too much explanation of what is in it etc - food was okay, would definitely recommend going there and just ordering your own dishes instead of tasting menu.

Incredible food, great cocktails and amazing staff. What more can i say, would definitely return back here. We had the bbq beef, pork belly, tempura and dragon roll, all were super tasty.

Exquisite cuisine, Nikkei Cuisine, a fusion between Japan and Peru. Wonderful flavors, colours, combinations. Very good service. Good wines. Eat as in Tapas Bars: SHARE and test as much as possible!

Best cocktails in London and good mellow vibe in Soho land. Smart, trendy and all sorts mix easily here.

Cool atmosphere, great cocktails and tasty food - I like the marriage of Japanese and Peruvian, but I'd rather have them separately, especially with the advent of Peruvian restaurants blooming in this city (think Pachamama, Coya)

The food teast is good .however the service and delays of the dishes is a nightmare.
More then 45 minutes wait for a sushi. And am still waiting... I really don't want to wait between my dish and my companion dish 45 minutes. . Just a Sad Japanese story in Soho..

This is my fail safe place to go to always. Food is always delicious as is the cocktails. This time I brought my 2 New Yorker friends to eat and their comment was: the best food I ve ever had in London! The favours as usual is on point. Loved everything we ordered! We even had to order seconds for some! Great experience again. Love this place so much. Keep it up.

Incredible food, great service and a really great setting!

For the price that you pay this place did not quite cut it. We came for a birthday during COVID times and still had to share plates which made no sense. They missed out on bits of our order so they had to compensate us, they forgot it was my friends birthday until she reminded them. She had to watch the table behind her (who s birthday they remembered) get serenaded before she realised thier mistake. Chotto are lucky their food tasted good, and I guess there are places to get pictures. Oh, and the bouncer at the front door was awesome. Outside of that, this is not a classy place to spend your time, it s loud, they rush to get you in then out and don t bother explaining what they re putting on the table.

Very unprofessional and unacceptable service. We were waiting for more than an hour to get a table in spite of our reservation in advance. Food was good but again it was very slow. Due to too loud music, we were shouting at each other to have a conversation

This restaurant was extraordinary, it was the new year eve, my friends and I tried to find a restaurant desperately at the last minute as we were not really prepared.

We called to book for 6 places but they said it was full but we tried nonetheless by coming at the restaurant hoping that a table will be free for six of us. The hostess asked us to wait 20 min and hopefully we get a table.

The food was just incredible, even now my mouth is watering. I have nothing to say about the price quality, it was almost like gastronomy for the price that wasn t even that high. All my friends were very delighted because the atmosphere was there, everyone was cheerful and happy, the music was on, the waiters were very polite, they even gave us sparkling candle when it was new year.

I would highly recommend this restaurant and I hope coming back there next time I m going back to London.

Fantastic food, friendly and welcoming staff, relaxed yet prompt and efficient service. We had one of the tasting menus and were very happy with our choice. Cocktails are also excellent.

A tad disappointed with the service.

A shame as the bar staff and door staff were particularly courteous. Waiting staffz not so much. Maybe due to being a Monday?

Overrated. Atmosphere is nice (better downstairs though) but that's pretty much it. The spicy tuna sushi is very average. The miso aubergine was tasty but too pricey for what you get. The seabass ceviche was extremely small for the price More

The food was very nice. Expensive and quite small portions. Not great value for money but that s central London for you.

Too cramped for my liking. Our table, and in particular my chair, was next to the bar so I was knocked by passing customers and waiters several times which was ******* annoying.

It s more a 3.5 star than 3 but not enough for a 4.
